PROBST: Steph whipping through this.

(whimpers)

It was either gonna be my buddy or my grandmother coming,

and, uh, my grandmother's not here for a reason.

(laughter)

I have two idols.

I guess I should have played 'em.

PROBST: We're going to evacuate you from this beach.

(sniffles)

KEITH: People ask me if Survivor's fun.

Hell no.

Survivor ain't fun. Going on a cruise is fun.

- (grunts) - (chicken clucks)

RUSSELL: In Survivor, how many people

JAY WOLFF: I guess the biggest question to ask you, Jeff, is:

Well, you mean 50?

the producers will not be in charge of the game design.

- (audience gasping) - WOMAN: What?

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans.

OZZY: The twist in the hands of the fans

is gonna open up Pandora's box.

AUBRY: I think what Survivor fans love the most

is that we don't know what's gonna happen.

The unknown is the great equalizer.

COACH: I'll start with a quote from Magellan.

"Life is for the bold

"to seize the opportunity when it comes,

not those poor intrepid souls that stay close to shore."

"But it is the person that goes out in the storm

RICK: This is an iconic season, and you're going against icons.

CHRISTIAN: 24 people across 49 seasons.

ANGELINA: This is like the Super Bowl.

Everyone is coming in guns blazing.

JONATHAN: I love this game,

and I'm excited to come back and play it.

And I will play to win.

Q: This is my chance to become

a legend of this game.

STEPHENIE: It's gonna be a bloodbath.

- (laughs) - STEPHENIE: I'm back.

It's just surreal, and,

you know, I played this game 30 seasons ago.

So to be asked back for season 50,

maybe I am one of the greats, and I'm gonna prove it.

I might win this thing this time.

COLBY: Here we go!

MIKE: You look around, and it's freaking Ozzy,

it's freaking Coach and Aubry and all of these people

you've watched play, kind of these mythic characters.

It's hilarious, scary.

Feels a little like high school reunion

meets, like, a... like, a, a massacre.

Welcome to Survivor 50.

(cheering, whooping)

Whoo!

- Let's go! Come on. - (cheering)

This is historic.

I mean, take a look around.

You all represent 25 years

and 49 seasons

of the greatest adventure on television.

A social experiment like no other.

751 people...

- Wow. - ...have played this game.

We chose you to represent Survivor 50.

It's a big honor.

And I'll tell you, it comes with equally big expectations.

Because, sure, we've done returning player seasons before.

We've never done this.

For 50, we wanted to represent our entire history,

taste the complete tapestry of everything that got us here--

types of gameplay, types of personality,

all the eras all smashed together--

so we have 24 players.

Record number for Survivor.

And we have somebody from our first season,

- 25 years ago. - (whooping)

You and I started this.

We started this.

And we have up to our most recent season, Survivor 49.

Yeah, let's go!

- Whoo! - (laughter)

PROBST: So that's how you all got here.

But we're also doing something else this season

we've never done before.

We turned the entire show over to the fans.

They decided what type of game

- they want you all to play. - (exhales)

- (laughs) - Please let there be rice.

But you all have no idea

what you're going to encounter.

So there's a lot going on.

You got the responsibility

and you've got this massive uncertainty.

It could be a little overwhelming.

It could be a little terrifying.

But what it should be is freeing.

Because it leaves you with only one choice

that makes any sense at all.

That is to play your game on your terms.

Play the game that works for you today in this moment.

And for what it's worth,

that's why we chose you--

for your unique point of view

that each of you bring to this game.

But before anybody even knew what Survivor was gonna be,

you were on the cover of Time magazine

25 years ago.

72 million people watched your finale.

We're gonna have, like, some little rat meat

with the rice that we're eating.

That would be delicious.

- Yeah. - And then you played

- in our first returning season All-Stars. - Yeah.

21 years it's been.

Why did you say yes to coming back to this?

Who would say no to this, Jeff?

I mean, have you lost in the 25 years any of that wonder?

Any of that sense of adventure?

- Not a bit. - Neither have I.

During those two Survivors, I learned the most about myself,

and now I'm thinking, what else do I have to learn?

It's like another shift in my life.

Mike White, with the success of White Lotus,

that you write and direct,

you could be anywhere right now, but you're here with us.

What is it about Survivor

that brings you out here to do it again when you don't need to?

I have major FOMO issues.

(laughter)

And I knew this was gonna be an epic party,

and I didn't want to hear about it

from Angelina and Christian

in a month from now.

And I was like, "If you guys are gonna be down there,

I'm gonna be down there, too."

And I, yeah, I want a front row seat.

(laughs)

I'm stoked to be here.

Oh, glad you said yes.

Devens,

in your season,

some of your gameplay surrounded idols.

That was one of the things the fans could vote on.

RICK: While everyone else is sleeping, I'm working.

This is my salvation in the game.

Of course I voted. I'm a fan of the show. It was in my hands.

because I have no interest...

Cirie, you are really synonymous with Survivor.

You really are.

You really were the first woman who vocalized this idea of,

"I'm gonna get up off the couch

"and I'm gonna go try to play this game

that I don't know if I can do or not."

You've had some of the most historic moments

in the history of Survivor.

What is most significantly different about you today?

Um...

Survivor is like home for me.

And there's no place like home.

I grew up on Survivor.

Survivor has given me...

(sighs) Geez.

You got it.

(cries)

It's given me...

...courage that I couldn't find by myself

on the couch.

Even with the failures,

I-I've, whew, had epic ones

in front of the entire world, but...

what brings me back is knowing that it could give me more

and that it always gives me more every time I come.

I'm glad to have you here.

PROBST: Colby, you played in our second season.

You were so popular,

people named their dogs,

- people named their kids after you. - (laughter)

And you've had a big Survivor career.

The last time you played was Heroes vs. Villains

15 years ago.

So what's different from the Colby then to now?

Well, in my 50s,

I'm definitely in a period of reflection on my whole life.

And half of my life has transpired-- like Jenna--

since the first time I played.

It has represented something so big,

I think it's taken this amount of time to really reflect back

and understand the gravity of it.

I am completely honored to be here.

All right, Coach.

I need a Coach-ism

- to set up... - I need one.

...what we're about to experience

- over the next 26 days. - COACH: Oh, man.

You know, regret-- it's the strongest emotion we have.

It gnaws around our subconscious,

whispering little lies to us.

PROBST: If you have orange, you're on the end.

PROBST: If you have purple, you're down here.

COLBY: Here we go.

PROBST: All right.

Let's look at our tribes.

Wearing purple, you are Vatu.

- Vatu. - Vatu.

In the middle, wearing teal, Kalo.

Whoo!

PROBST: Down on the end, wearing orange, Cila.

- Yay. - Oh, yeah.

PROBST: All right, the fans voted on two things

that impact the start of this game.

One was rice.

Please.

PROBST: The question was binary.

Should you start with rice or should you have to earn rice?

The results were pretty close.

53 to 47%.

- (laughs): Wow. - Sheesh.

PROBST: But the majority rules.

And when it comes to rice...

Please, rice.

...the fans decided to give you...

Yeah!

- What?! - RIZO: I can eat.

Whoo!

...the chance to show what badasses you are...

Wait.

...by earning your rice.

- (laughs) - Wait, no. No.

PROBST: You will not start the game with rice.

The other thing the fans voted on was tribe supplies.

Give us the supplies.

PROBST: Do you get to start the game with your supplies or not?

What's interesting about this one is,

the vote was almost exactly the same.

60 to 40%.

And in this case the fans decided to do the same thing

- and have you earn your tribe supplies. - (groaning)

You're gonna be earning everything.

SAVANNAH: Sounds about right.

So, shall we get to your first challenge,

- the marooning challenge for Survivor 50? - Let's do it, Jeff.

Here's how it works.

One person's gonna get a key.

One person's gonna use that key to release paddles.

Two players are gonna unload all the rope out of the boat.

Two other players are gonna get in that boat,

get out and get your torch out in the ocean.

The last two players are gonna get another key

and use it to unlock their torch.

Then it becomes a race to the finish

to light your torch with fire.

The first tribe to get fire wins fire

in the form of flint...

I love fire.

...and a massive bonfire waiting for you back at camp.

- Oh, what? - Oh, wow.

- PROBST: It is a huge head start. - COLBY: Yeah!

- Worth playing for? - Yeah!

- (cheering) - Hell yeah!

PROBST: All right, I'm gonna give you a minute to strategize,

and we'll get Survivor 50 on.

- Yeah! - (cheering)

- Whoo! - We do everything together.

RIZO: We got it.

- Survivors ready. - DEE: Get it, girl.

- ANGELINA: Yeah, Stephenie. - Go!

(overlapping shouting)

Stephenie, Kamilla and Savannah out of the gate.

Gonna be doing this first job in this challenge,

which is to dig under a log.

Takes a lot of effort.

- JENNA: Come on, Savannah! - CHRISTIAN: Come on, Savannah!

- Oh, my goodness. Look at that. - JENNA: Yes. Dig it.

- Dig it. Go, go... - CHRISTIAN: She's a regular excavator right there.

PROBST: Once you think you've got a hole big enough,

you can try to get through it.

Come on, Kamilla! Keep going.

- Keep going. - (cheering)

PROBST: Stephenie trying to get through for Vatu.

(Angelina squeals)

AUBRY: You got it, girl!

Stephenie's first through!

She's working on her key.

COLBY: Come on, Steph!

It's been 15 years since Stephenie played.

You wouldn't know it.

Stephenie back first.

- Gonna give the key to Aubry. - (cheering)

Q: Let's go!

- Yep, yep. - STEPHENIE: Take your time. Slow and steady.

- Good job, Aubry. - COLBY: Hey, you got this.

PROBST: It's Aubry now working on the puzzle,

trying to free up these paddles.

- TIFFANY: Use your legs! - CHARLIE: There you go, Kamilla.

PROBST: Kamilla gonna give it a go.

Savannah's nearly through.

- News update: you're killing it! - You're killing it.

PROBST: Aubry with a big time lead for Vatu.

(overlapping shouting, cheering)

Savannah's through!

Get to work on that key.

Let's go, Kamilla!

DEE: Kamilla, you got it. Keep fighting.

- RICK: Yes! Yes! - (whooping)

It's Savannah heading back now.

Give it to me.

PROBST: Who's it gonna be?

It's gonna be Christian working on the puzzle.

Christian taking a different strategy.

Wow. He is setting up the puzzle.

Yes, Aubry!

RIZO: Great job, Aubry!

(excited chatter)

PROBST: Aubry's heading back with the paddles.

- Wait, wait, here we go. - Okay, go.

- You're good, you're good, you're good. - Go, go.

It's gonna be Q and Angelina unloading all that rope.

It's Vatu in the lead.

Hubicki trying to close that gap.

Kamilla just trying to get her tribe in this.

(cheering)

- Kamilla quickly gets the key. - Good job, girl. Good job, girl.

There's a lot of time to be made up by Chrissy right now.

RICK: You're doing great.

PROBST: Christian is working very fast to free up those paddles.

(overlapping shouting)

Q and Angelina working on all the rope for Vatu.

Once it's empty, head back.

JENNA: Yes, good job! Come on!

EMILY: Yeah!

PROBST: Christian's made up a lot of time for Cila.

You're good.

It's gonna be Jenna and Cirie unloading the boat.

Angelina and Q are back.

Here goes Kyle and Colby with a big lead right now for Vatu.

RIZO (chanting): Go, Kyle! Go, Colby!

Go, Kyle! Go, Colby!

PROBST: Once you're in the water, start pulling on that rope.

Pull yourself out, and you paddle back.

That water is rough today.

KYLE: All right, let's go.

- Let's go. - All right, baby, we're good.

PROBST: Kyle and Colby now have it going.

- Pull it. - PROBST: Jenna and Cirie still working on that rope.

(overlapping shouting)

- You're good. - SAVANNAH: Go!

PROBST: It's now Ozzy and Joe

for Cila, trying to catch Colby and Kyle.

Christian made up a lot of time in that paddle element.

Can Joe and Ozzy make up even more time?

- (cheering, whooping) - Right here.

PROBST: Kyle and Colby have their torch.

They can start paddling back now.

But that is gonna be a rough paddle.

DEE: That's right. Let's go.

Whoo!

KAMILLA: Good job, Chrissy.

Chrissy has the paddle.

- Hell yeah. - Good job. - Go, go, go...

PROBST: Now it's gonna be Tiff and Mike

unloading the boat for Kalo.

CIRIE: They ain't going nowhere, Joe!

PROBST: Joe and Ozzy are whipping through it.

And we got a collision.

Joe and Ozzy quickly gaining on Vatu.

They've got to get their torch quickly and get back.

- Yeah, boys. Come on! - (cheering)

PROBST: Joe and Ozzy have their torch.

Mike and Tiff working, trying to keep them in this challenge.

DEE: Good job!

- Good job! - (cheering)

JONATHAN: Let's go. That's what I'm talking about.

You're good! Let's go!

It's Jonathan and Coach now.

KAMILLA: Look at them go.

PROBST: Can they make up an incredible amount of time?

(groans)

PROBST: Wow. That is how you do it quickly.

Kyle and Colby trying to get back to shore.

Here we go.

All right. Good.

- You're good. - COLBY: Grab the torch.

- RIZO: Come on, Kyle! - STEPHENIE: Let's go, Kyle!

- Let's go! - PROBST: It's Kyle and Colby back first.

Hustle! Go!

It's Genevieve and Rizo.

Vatu's been in the lead the entire challenge,

starting with Stephenie, getting them off to a very fast start.

- STEPHENIE: Let's go... - Q: Let's go, Rizo...

(overlapping chatter)

- Ah! - No, no, the other way.

It's got to go this...

RIZO: Wait.

- Oh, it's heavy. - GENEVIEVE: Yeah, it's heavy.

PROBST: Here goes Coach and Jonathan.

And here comes Ozzy and Joe.

(overlapping shouting)

Cila has made up a ton of time.

Coach and Jonathan trying to stay in it.

CHRISTIAN: Hurry, hurry, hurry.

It is now Emily and Devens

trying to make up the last bit of time

and pull out a come-from-behind victory.

SAVANNAH: Come on, Devens! Come on!

We got a challenge now.

PROBST: Coach and Jonathan

whipping through the water.

(overlapping shouting)

RIZO: The fact that I'm playing Survivor 50,

the most anticipated season of all time,

with players I idolized, is a dream come true.

But as a superfan, I know everyone here is very dangerous.

ANGELINA: I couldn't help but smile

because I'm playing Survivor again.

And we won the biggest bonfire

I've ever seen in my life.

Oh, my gosh.

on this beach, okay?

- That's fine. - Oh, my God.

Hi, Colby.

It's been seven years, and I've become a mom.

And this is a chance to show them the new Angelina

that isn't, like, trying to steal jackets and stuff

and whatever else I did.

You guys know I haven't seen Colby in 16 years.

- 16 years? - Yeah. - Yes.

Yes.

You're still kicking ass, just like you always did, man.

STEPHENIE: Seeing Colby is so comforting

because we played together on Heroes/Villains.

Rupert's over there talking

- to JT now. - Yeah.

STEPHENIE: He looks great.

He was in his 30s last time I saw him.

I was in my 20s.

Like, we're older now.

Okay, so we're going fire and we're going shelter.

- Okay. - STEPHENIE: I don't know

a lot of the new era people,

but Colby I know I can really trust.

The bond is unspoken.

We have a lot of history.

COLBY: Let's do this.

I'm super ... happy that you're here.

COLBY: My first impression of Rizo is,

he's loud, he likes to talk a lot.

I didn't come to play Survivor for second or third.

I came to win.

COLBY: Rizo did more talking and more dodging of work.

I just don't know if eight of us are gonna fit here.

I believe he's 25.

I know a lot of 25-year-olds

with incredible work ethic.

(laughs): I'm not sure Rizo is one of those 25-year-olds.

'cause nobody looks and, like, "You know,

"Colby carries 50 bamboo sticks. Like, we got to keep him..."

Like, that's just not how it's played nowadays.

COLBY: This guy's

gonna be a liability.

- I can't believe it. - (laughs)

DEE: Dude, it feels so good to be here.

I'm a Survivor girl through and through.

I love being on the island.

I love playing the mind games.

I love having fun.

Even this that we wipe our asses with.

Like, everything is so beautiful.

Do y'all want to do something that holds us

- off the ground? - I mean, the dirt's not that bad.

My reputation on Survivor is that

I am the most dominant winner in the new era,

and I'm cutthroat.

If they thought I was cutthroat then,

they have no idea what's coming for 50.

But my overall assessment of this tribe, I'm ecstatic.

We have old era players and new era players.

We got Coach away from camp trying to earn the supplies.

He's old, but he got muscles on him.

We also have the people that are smart for the puzzles.

- (grunts loudly) - (laughter)

DEE: On the other hand,

we have strength, for sure.

The Jonathan Goliath,

he's a freaking animal.

Are you a giant?

Fee-fi-fo-fum.

(laughter)

We got Jonathan, baby.

We got the man mountain.

We got our extra tribe member.

We got nine players.

Maybe like ten and 11 if you count each one of his limbs.

Like, this dude's a mountain.

Dude, you look great.

My God, Mike is ripped.

JONATHAN: Does anybody want to talk about Mike?

This guy's got abs.

CHARLIE: And also,

let's not gloss over the fact

that Mike White has,

like, a bulging six-pack,

which I was not expecting to see.

I guess he's ripped now.

I'm not a great strategist,

so can you just be my strategist

- for me? - Yes.

MIKE: You know, at the beginning of Survivor,

I think it's good to take the back seat.

After doing White Lotus,

I really feel like I need to, like, lower my threat level

and be more of the goofball,

you know, that needs to be led around the camp.

Will you keep Grandpa from having food in his teeth and...?

- Yes. - Your teeth are amazing, by the way.

MIKE: I'm here to have fun.

So, like, if you're stressing me out

or, like, you're irritating me, like, that's going

to be the person that I target.

I'm here to, like, enjoy my time here.

Mike, your show is absolutely brilliant.

I missed the third season 'cause I don't have HBO Max,

- but I saw the first two. - (laughter)

MIKE: Honestly, there's times in White Lotus

where I'm, like, so fried

and I'm like, "Can-can I do this?"

Like, it's, like, a 129-day shoot.

But I look back

on my Survivor experience.

(crying)

And I'm like, "Dude, I did that.

I can do this," you know?

(laughter)

I got so much out of

my last Survivor experience, and

there were lessons that I learned

that I didn't know I needed to learn.

So I'm very excited to be back for this epic season.

My life philosophy is, like,

if you get some crazy, amazing opportunity

and it just lands in your lap,

like, you're a fool not to take it.

I love my tribe. I really do.

I see all these all-stars, and it's like,

"What a well-rounded crew."

I know.

You got Cirie. She's a legend.

This is her fifth time playing the game.

And has a ton of knowledge.

How are you feeling?

As soon as I saw, like, a flag on a beach,

I almost peed myself.

JOE: Jenna's absolutely awesome.

I mean, season one,

she ate a rat

and talked about how to take out parts of the rat

that we could eat.

It just tasted like dirty meat.

JOE: And there's people on my team that are brilliant.

Not just smart, they're brilliant.

You got Emily and Christian, too. He's the man.

(groans)

JOE: And then there's Rick Devens.

We're back, baby.

JOE: I love it.

JOE: And then you have Ozzy missing the party.

But the only unknown

was Savannah, but I'm like, "If you're here,

you seem like you're going to be awesome."

I don't think we're losing any immunity challenges,

so you don't have to worry about us.

EMILY: Savannah, tell us all the 49 tea.

SAVANNAH: Yeah, I totally can.

The crazy thing about Survivor 50 is

that we are filming this just two weeks after Survivor 49.

That means that none of these people

know anything about me. That worries me

because I feel like I would be an easy vote.

Does anyone have any guesses about how I did?

- I won. - Yeah.

Yay!

- Congratulations. - SAVANNAH: I think this is

the first step in showing my tribe

that, hey, I'm an open book.

Maybe I'll leave out some of the parts

where I won four individual immunities,

but overall, like,

I'm trying to basically make people trust me.

JENNA: I knew that Savannah had to have done

something big in order to get here.

Survivor 50 is not gen pop.

JENNA: This is a returning season. It becomes

very bloody very fast and very emotional

when you already know people.

Um, I'm a little bit worried about Cirie's story.

- She has a... great story. - Yeah.

if you've watched all five seasons...

SAVANNAH: I know. I know.

I love my tribe, I love

- that you guys are a part of it. - Yeah.

I mean, if that's what the majority wants to do.

JENNA: I would love to target Cirie.

She's played five times. She's a threat no matter what.

She, she's like the queen who doesn't call herself queen.

You know what I mean?

I would like to work with you and Savannah,

and I would like to get Cirie out.

I want you and me, Savannah and Joe right now...

- Okay, sure. - ...to take out Cirie.

- So let's do that. - That's good.

JENNA: I think a lot of people are looking at me.

They're like, "She hasn't played in 21 years.

She doesn't know what's going on."

But I've always been cutthroat enough

to play this new fast-paced game.

I am here to cut people, and Cirie is such

a lovely lady. I love you,

but if I let you get an inch in this game,

you'll take a mile.

COACH: The fans voted against us having

supplies from the beginning, and so

one person from each tribe

must fight for it.

Oh, man.

I'm going to go against two younger gentlemen

than myself, including

my nemesis Ozzy, on day one.

I thought that was going to be later on in the season,

not on the first day.

- Coach. - How are you, sir?

I'm good, man. It's been,

what, 27 seasons?

(laughing): Geez, man, that's crazy.

Ozzy and I have major history. I mean,

we were pitted against each other in South Pacific.

So, Coach, you got to be honest.

Your game philosophy has been a certain thing.

The honor, all of that.

We all know it's a bunch of bull,

because if you really believe that,

it would be me and you sitting up there.

- It would be. - Yeah.

COACH: He cost me a million dollars, so

this is a conversation 15 years in the making.

I feel like I should have done a lot more

to help you win that season.

I think you should have won that season.

I really do think you should have.

I appreciate that. I mean, really,

your job on the jury is

to get that pound of flesh.

I was a horrible loser.

I think it's more on me than you.

Honestly, I-I apologize, man. I should've...

I should've handled it more graciously.

OZZY: My hopes coming into the season

is that Coach and I are going to be able

to squash whatever beef we have

and we're going to be able to work together in a way

that's going to be beneficial

to our games

and not repeat the same mistakes that we had in the past.

And whoever wins wins

in a fair and just way.

"Welcome to your fight for supplies.

"You will race out to collect bundles of materials.

"Retrieve your first bundle from atop a pole.

"Unbury a second bundle from inside the roped circle.

Then swim out to the buoy to collect your final bundle."

"Use these materials to build a stick long enough

to retrieve a single key from behind a wall."

"First to collect the key earns

their tribe supplies."

Oh, my friggin' gosh.

- OZZY: Yeah. - Okay.

- (laughter) - Sounds like a...

That sounds like a challenge made for Ozzy.

- There's gonna be a fight. - I don't think so.

This is gonna be a fight.

I've done every

single part of this challenge so many times.

I got this.

- All right, are we ready? - Yup.

Okay. On your mark.

- Get set. - Go.

Q: I'm watching Ozzy, and I'm thinking,

"Oh, boy,

I might be in trouble."

This guy

is better than I thought.

Good gracious.

OZZY: At this point, I've got a huge lead.

So I feel like I'm back.

I feel like I'm, like, at the end of the game almost.

Because, you know, it's like the individual immunity challenge.

Like, it's up to me to win this.

There's no one else I have to depend on. My tribe's not here.

It's got to be me.

COACH: So I said, "No matter what happens,

"Keep going, persevere,

get to the end, and you have a chance."

Because the twist is, we're fighting for the same key.

So it doesn't matter who knocks the key off.

It matters

who drags it over the finish line.

(blowing)

OZZY: The lead is crucial in this challenge because

your fellow competitors can steal the key from you.

So it's up to me to just close the deal at this point.

It should be easy.

Little did I know that the weight of the pole itself,

once you finally got it out there, it was so bent.

It was like a wet noodle, so you kind of have

to, like, whip it towards the key.

COACH: I looked over at Ozzy's pole. Rickety as heck.

I said, if I can make the first four pieces of wood strong...

Because if Ozzy got it,

that's going to give me a chance to steal it.

OZZY: Once I saw how difficult it was going to be,

with the distance from the fence and the wind,

my heart just sinks.

I know that this is going to be a struggle.

(exhales sharply)

Aah!

..., my thing broke.

OZZY: We all realized this is going to be so difficult.

I'm like, "I just got to keep trying."

I am not going to give up this challenge.

Q: 35

minutes later, still no key.

Fudge.

(sighs)

It's been, like, 45 minutes now.

And I'm like, "You know what?

"Whoever can knock the key off,

"you deserve to win. It's like I'm giving it to you.

Just go for it."

COACH: I immediately thought,

"I'm keeping my mouth shut. I will make

no such deal."

It's every man for himself out here.

Nice job, dude.

(grunting)

Sorry, man, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

OZZY: Coach stole the key right out from under me.

I just hoped in my heart of hearts

that after the moment that Coach and I had

when we talked about sportsmanship

and honor and all of that,

that Coach was going to do what I think is the right thing.

But Coach decided that he was going to be cutthroat.

COACH: To slay the dragon that is Ozzy,

one of the greatest challenge beasts of all time,

on day one, and my hopefully former rival,

it felt euphoric.

I have friggin'

started this season off with a W.

Oh.

"Use your key to unlock your supplies

"and head back to camp a hero.

"Once the winner has departed,

"the two losers will flip this cover

and read the next note together."

Oh!

That's cool.

That's a, that's a cool twist.

OZZY: Q and I are looking at each other, and we're like,

Q: Oh, boy.

who's mad that Coach stole his key.

- MIKE: No way. - CHRISSY: Oh, my God!

JONATHAN: Lo and behold,

our main man Coach comes back with gifts in hand.

And he beat Ozzy.

And Coach likes to be the hero,

so by all means I want Coach to be the hero.

And that, to me, is a red flag.

Dee is a prior winner.

So Dee is actually a real threat to me,

even though I think she's, like, amazing.

of the fans means

that they shape the game that we're playing.

The fans voted on whether or not there will be idols.

And we don't know how they voted.

We don't even know if they're out here.

I got my buddy Rick Devens.

He's an idol hound.

If there's an idol still out here, he will find it.

And her and I are trying to find a time to have this talk.

EMILY: I came into the Cila tribe preparing to be on the bottom.

But, like,

people want to work with me.

I think people genuinely want to work with me.

I haven't really had that before.

On season 45, I felt like I was the bottom-of-the-barrel choice

that somebody would work with.

I don't know why you implicitly trust me.

- I don't know either. I just do. - But you should.

EMILY: But the more I talk to people,

the more I'm realizing,

I do feel like I need to rewire my brain to conceptualize,

maybe they're being real and honest when they say,

"Yeah, we want to work with you."

Are you kidding me?

Can I give you a hug? Oh, geez.

Oh, my God, this is good.

EMILY: So far, season 50 is already

leaps and bounds above season 45.

And while I think I've made a lot of progress,

and I want to give myself credit, as I should,

for the progress that I've made,

it's a little too early for me to take full victory.

Coming off of a win, I know that

the game moves quick. I've played the 26, new era,

fast-paced game.

I love that. I want to work with you.

You build a relationship, then you play the game.

Genevieve is somebody that strategically,

I can tell that she's a gamer.

She's intelligent, and she could be devious.

And even though I think she's probably

the scariest person on this beach,

I'm excited to play with scary.

I just played 48 with the scariest player on my season.

Her name was Kamilla. She was an intelligent woman.

She liked to play games, and she wanted to play with me.

So I'm hoping that's the same situation with Genevieve.

GENEVIEVE: I totally get how Kyle won his season.

He is so charismatic.

GENEVIEVE: This tight connection with Kyle

is new to me.

The first time I played,

I didn't connect with people.

So Genevieve 2.0 is trying to be laying foundation

and making friends with absolutely everybody.

- We are here. - If we're going to play together,

- you need to know this real quick. - Yup.

- My left ear is bad. - Okay.

So, if we're talking quiet, and I favor you with my right ear,

- it's because I can hear better out of this one, okay? - Okay.

I can't believe

it's going so well with people that I want to work with.

AUBRY: There's a weird vibe between me and Genevieve.

We have this unspoken tension.

I think Genevieve is calculating and an exceptional liar,

but she also seems to look at the game

in some of the same ways I do.

So I feel like Genevieve is someone where

I'm gonna have to cut your throat before you cut mine.

is tough.

- And I kind of, like, flicked real quick. - Yeah. Yeah.

Something pretty big.

Being on Exile is a massive setback for my game.

There's alliances that get made day one.

People are walking through, collecting bamboo.

They're like, "Let's go to the end together."

And, you know, if you miss out on that, you might

miss out on a chance to be in a great alliance.

OZZY: You know, we don't have a machete.

We don't have anything.

We have our water bottles. That's it.

But my back is totally just toasted.

And I'm hoping I can get back to my tribe

as quickly as possible.

And I hope I don't see you again.

I don't think we will.

OZZY: This is a huge moment for me.

The old Ozzy wants

to be the provider, make fire, open coconuts.

But I'm not the old Ozzy.

I'm playing as Oscar this time,

and Oscar's a quick-talking negotiator.

You guys have a stronger tribe.

I think you guys are going to be fine.

So, I think I need the extra vote.

- And I got the pot and machete? - Yeah.

But we have fire right now. Y'all don't.

OZZY: I don't care about camp supplies.

Zero. With this many crazy players, you need real power

in the game.

OZZY: It's only one Tribal.

OZZY: Somehow

I convinced Q to give me the extra vote.

This, to me, is showing me I'm on the right path,

I'm playing the right kind of game.

It can't be about just winning challenges and hunting fish.

So this means everything to me.

I couldn't be happier.

Q: I feel good about the decision because

I think I have the better end of the deal

to get the supplies.

It's better to be the hero than the zero.

Better to be me than Ozzy.

AUBRY: Come on, guys! Q's here!

- ANGELINA: Q! - Whoo!

Look, he's got... he's got a pot.

- Q! - He's got a pot.

- (screaming) - (overlapping shouting)

He's got a pot.

ANGELINA: I see Q with the pot and machete.

He's got his hero moment.

And I'm like,

"Yes, Q. Always be closing."

So, after about 35 minutes,

Ozzy had reached through to get a key, and he knocked it off.

Coach stole it.

- Wow. - Wow.

- Ozzy was pissed. - COLBY: Ugh.

Q: I have to tell them where these supplies come from.

But I cannot tell everybody I lost my vote.

Well, I didn't lose it. I sold it.

So now I have to come up with a lie.

Exile sucks.

This morning,

there was 50 coconuts, both of us had.

We had to go 20 yards in between.

- So, did Ozzy earn it, as well? - No.

- He didn't get it? - Q: I felt so bad for him.

- Wow. - Q: So...

KYLE: Q stepped up, and he went and won supplies for us.

But he also missed an entire day on this beach.

I want to talk to him pretty quickly

because if there's anybody who can change a tribe dynamic,

it's that man right there.

- We're-we're good. - Oh, no, we're solid.

100%. You ain't got to worry about that.

will empty those coconuts.

Then one tribe member will toss those coconuts into a net

until it's heavy enough to drop the crate releasing a rope.

Another tribe member will use that rope to drop a ramp.

Then you work together to get everybody

to the top of the platform,

where two remaining tribe members will race to solve

a 50-piece Survivor 50 puzzle.

Ultimately, I feel like it cost us the challenge.

I don't know if I can trust you when it comes to Cirie.

OZZY: Jenna's amped up, ready to go, coming in hot,

ready to play the game hard.

But Cirie, right now, is my number one.

Okay.

OZZY: I don't want to have to use my extra vote

on first Tribal to save Cirie,

but I'm gonna do everything that I can to protect her

because I'm ride-or-die with her.

I really am.

We can find places for Cirie in the challenges.

She has a lot of talents, and Jenna also does.

But going forward in the game,

I think that Jenna's gonna be

more of a liability than an asset,

because of the hard gameplay.

That just, for me, is a danger, danger game.

CHRISTIAN: I agree. I agree with this conversation, too.

My concern is that if-if... that if Jenna's still around,

we're all gonna be playing around her game

- for the next however many games. - For sure.

And whose name is she gonna throw out next?

She's gonna drive the vote.

- And so... - JOE: Okay.

CHRISTIAN: Jenna-- I see someone who, out of the gate,

playing too hard, too fast.

She has this ferocity

to the point where I'm actually a little scared.

Cirie's a little bit more emotional and open.

And that's what I'm looking for.

I'm looking for people I can connect with,

so we can build something for the future.

- Joe, what are you thinking right now? - Yeah.

You know, I was conflicted just because

I don't want to lose the challenges, 'cause I don't

- want to be back here. - For sure. For sure. - Yeah.

Do you feel good about the plan, then? Is the plan okay?

Yeah, I mean, I-I...

I think it should be, like, at this point,

we should all be on the same page.

JOE: The plan is Jenna, and Ozzy was pushing that.

That made me

step back a little bit,

'cause it was an immediate "Jenna's out."

I was like, "Well, well, why? That's so definitive."

Jenna's better at challenges than Cirie.

And at the end of the day,

you don't lose challenges,

you don't go home.

We can't be back here again.

- Dude, I-- listen to me. - We cannot.

So, here's the thing.

With Jenna, I feel like we kind of know her game.

- With Cirie and Ozzy... - I agree.

...I feel like they're a little more slick.

I agree.

My worry is that Ozzy and Cirie

are working together behind the scenes,

because, on my season,

I got duped by Kyle and Kamilla.

They 100% played me.

And now I see the Ozzy and Cirie.

So immediately

I think, "What? What? Uh...

Something's cooking here."

Jenna's aggressive behavior, although annoying,

is not as threatening

- as the masterful gameplay that might be going on right now. - That's true.

I'm really nervous about Ozzy and Cirie

because they are good.

That's the terrifying part.

They're two of the most impactful players

to ever play this game.

I will say, it's giving me pause.

I mean, Ozzy did come out hard initially in defense of Cirie.

- He's really, like... - Really.

- And... - It's not like he's like, "Eh, you know, I'd rather."

It's like, no, he's fighting.

Yeah, and that makes me nervous.

- That... - Should we do Ozzy?

(laughs)

That would be wild.

- Um... - That would be a chaotic-as-hell choice.

Joe's, like, very concerned about it. Like, he...

They'll want to vote out Cirie over Ozzy.

I think Joe might vote out Ozzy tonight.

- I think he might... - Joe would vote Ozzy tonight?

- That was the vibe I got. - He was all about physical strength, though.

I actually think that the tribe without Ozzy

is stronger for me, in particular.

Weaker physically, weaker in the challenges,

but I think keeping Jenna

and Cirie, who right now hate each other--

they're voting for each other,

they do not want to work together at all--

having that dynamic there

automatically distracts and keeps focus elsewhere.

J-Jenna would vote for Ozzy, though.

- Do you think so? Okay. - I think so,

because she's definitely anti-Cirie,

but I think she sees Ozzy and Cirie as a pair.

Yes.

- I don't think any of us like that. - No.

SAVANNAH: People are realizing that Ozzy's connected with Cirie.

That's really scary.

But, honestly, I want Cirie to go home.

She's literally the reason

why we are in this predicament right now.

CHRISTIAN: And my, and my thinking is that,

if you go anywhere other than Jenna,

then it's gonna be a dirty vote.

And we're gonna send someone back to camp pissed off.

RICK: We're getting rid of someone huge tonight,

and it is gonna set the tone.

I mean, Jenna's the season one representative.

We're gonna get her out first?

Ozzy-- he's a challenge beast.

No one would ever expect to go out first.

Cirie-- this is her fifth time.

Behind each of you is a torch.

Grab a torch, dip it in and get fire.

This is part of the ritual at Tribal Council,

because even 50 seasons in,

fire represents your life in the game.

When your fire's gone, so are you. You know the drill.

That's going to be the case for one of you tonight,

in our 50th season, to be the first person voted out.

So, Jenna, take me back

to your very first Tribal Council,

which, at this point, was over 25 years ago.

Wow.

What do you remember about it?

I remember banging a gong

as we went in.

Um, it was tiny compared to this.

I remember we took it kind of lightly at first.

B.B., the tribe has spoken.

JENNA: But it was embedded in us how serious it was

when we had to send someone home

and you had to go back to camp without them.

And now you're back at Tribal two decades later.

What is different?

JENNA: I think there are much longer discussions,

which I think is great.

People really getting their voice heard.

Um, also, I mean, this is humongous and beautiful.

Uh, it's really sadly beautiful.

PROBST: So, Joe, when you look at a group like this,

and you literally have somebody from the very first season

and literally somebody from our most recent season,

how do you assess what is an advantage,

in terms of previous relationships,

versus what is baggage?

I feel like I'm taking a lot of baggage

into this with me from my season, you know?

- In what way? - Well, you know, I feel

with Kyle and Kamilla, you know,

they gave me a wedgie on national television,

and I'm still recovering, and it's pretty fresh.

Explain what you mean by that-- they gave you a wedgie.

Well, it's like, you share these intimate connections.

You say things that are so real,

but then it was encased in some deception,

and I carry that baggage, and then it clouds my vision.

But what I know for sure is,

I think the best thing we can do

is come in this with a clean slate.

Give everybody a fair shot.

PROBST: Christian, what's the likelihood

of 24 Survivor players saying,

"Let's all come in with a clean slate"?

How many zeros are there after a decimal point that you can fit

in a percentage? I think the answer is technically infinite.

So, uh, no, it's not going to happen.

It's not going to happen. There's no way

that everything is a completely clean slate.

There's just too much history.

PROBST: Ozzy, it's an obvious question.

Past relationships can help or hurt.

What do you do when you are a player who has played

as many times as you have?

You have to examine the games that you have played.

I went back and I looked and I saw the person that I was,

the kid that I was,

and I realized I wanted to play a different game

that was more mature, that was more about really

just getting to know everybody,

because if you have the solid connections

with every single person, coming to Tribal Council

goes from being a really easy choice

to something that's super complicated, very complex,

but hopefully we can grow from it somehow.

PROBST: Cirie, we've been on two and a half decades,

so what do you do when there's no hiding the fact,

you know people in this game, you've played with some of them?

What you do, Jeff, is try to be as transparent as possible.

Yeah, I knew Ozzy, but Ozzy and I weren't friends.

I actually voted Ozzy out in our first season,

and I hope that the people that were selected for 50 because

they are great at reading people and playing this game

can tell that I'm being truthful.

PROBST: Devens, you play your first time,

and then you start waiting for the call

to play a second time.

What do you do to study the game?

I mean, first of all, you watch.

You know, every Wednesday I'm tuned in and I'm watching.

And you just kind of study the new things you add to the game.

First it was Sweat vs. Savvy.

Then there are journeys, Beware Advantages.

And on top of that, this season is full of the unknown

because we don't know what the fans voted for.

PROBST: All right, let's get into

today's challenge.

- (Cirie sighs) - PROBST: Cirie, I've watched you

in situations like this many times, where it looks like

we may just be here all day with Cirie and then you pull it out.

What I also saw was, you might be the reason your tribe lost.

That was a long time you took.

There's no getting around that, right?

That is absolutely true, Jeff.

Today wasn't my best day.

And I've been on Survivor a lot of days.

So, yeah, there's no place to hide.

But, Jeff, if I wanted to hide, I would stay on my couch.

I got off the couch 20 years ago because of the experience.

And that's why I'm here, because

I'm looking for the new experience

and how it's going to make me better this time.

PROBST: Savannah, how about for you?

What value do you put on somebody's ability

in challenges?

That's not an easy question to answer

because it depends so much

on different relationships that exist in the game.

If I look at someone who is not very good at challenges,

but they're someone who I can go to the end with,

then that might be different

than if that person is awful at challenges

and we have no working relationship and I hate them.

- You know what I mean? - Yeah.

SAVANNAH: So it depends on that person as a whole.

PROBST: And so, Emily, when you get back to camp today,

were you able to get a sense of what the criteria is going to be

for how you're going to make this decision?

(laughing): Opposite.

- Really? - You know, there isn't

an obvious, easy vote.

Everybody on this tribe has merits.

Um, they also have faults.

So even the same person who would say, "Hey,

we should vote out this person because of this criteria"

could say, "We should vote out this person"

because of the complete opposite criteria.

And that makes strategic decision-making

- virtually impossible. - PROBST: Hubicki,

what would be the best outcome for this group

when you go back to camp tonight?

What should the conversation center around?

I think this conversation should center

around the story we want to tell ourselves moving forward.

'Cause I think that Survivor is about stories

and sort of stories within the stories, you know.

But as a tribe, there's just some chemistry here.

I mean, no, it's possible

that Coach is really vibing very well with everyone.

That is certainly possible.

But, I mean, I just feel like we got

to write the story where we ascend back into dominance.

That we're not the disaster.

We're going to get back in the saddle

and show these other people what we're made of.

I did come out and play my game. I played aggressive.

But I think you also have to play aggressively

and I've been seeing how I can move.

I have an extra vote, and then

somebody gifted me an idol.

Having two advantages is the most massive

amount of power that I've ever had

playing Survivor.

And now I just got to keep the old brain

on target and not do anything stupid.

KAMILLA: This robe is awesome.

- This is so iconic. - So, like, if you had...

COACH: Dude, this is awesome, man.

It's like, what is in the front?

- (Coach hums) - JONATHAN: Um...

If we assume it's the same from the 40s,

someone's going to hop on this boat

and they risk their vote for some type of advantage.

MIKE: I'm ready to go on a journey.

I've never been on a journey.

But I wasn't real excited about it, because

I don't have the mental capacity, right,

I like the idea of getting on a boat and going to a competition.

And we all pull in in unison.

It just felt like I was, like, in an action movie. It was cool.

- Mike. Colby Donaldson. - Colby, awesome, right.

MIKE: So I'm excited to get this opportunity.

But first there was

a little gossip session.

SAVANNAH: Oh, yeah. Yeah.

- MIKE: What did you hear? - What we heard--

Ozzy threw out there. What do we say?

The next guy to grab the key,

the other guys don't knock it off his thing.

And what does Coach do? Rob it from him.

MIKE: I find out that Coach is not exactly

playing Survivor with honor and integrity.

But I don't care. I mean, personally, I was like,

"Thank you, Coach."

I mean, it didn't bother me at all.

"Survivor is about risk, and today is no exception.

"Three came, but only two can play.

Decide who plays or draw rocks."

Oh, wow.

SAVANNAH: Only two of us get to play.

And I think all of us are very eager to do this.

We didn't just come out to the beach

to go all the way back home.

Ready?

Oh!

Oh, man, I'm bummed, I don't get to play.

- (Colby laughs) - SAVANNAH: Aw. - Oh, well.

You guys, good luck, man. I hope...

SAVANNAH: Colby and I got the lucky rocks.

And immediately I'm like,

"Dang, dude, I wish this was Mike,"

because I don't know if I can beat Colby.

But at the same time, like, I am one of the fiercest,

most challenge-winning females

in Survivor history.

"One player at a time, you will place a piece

"on top of the structure.

"Players will continue to place pieces,

making the tower higher and higher until the tower falls."

"If the tower falls during your turn, you lose.

"The stakes are simple.

"You either keep your vote

or lose your vote at the next Tribal Council."

Damn. There's not even a reward or advantage

- out of this. - Ugh.

This game that we're playing is all based

on the winner keeping their vote

and the loser losing their vote at the next Tribal Council.

And that is really scary.

Hopefully, I can out-stack Colby

and pull this thing off.

- Good luck. - (laughs)

COLBY: All right.

Oh, very nice.

What are we going to do over there?

It's about to get precarious.

Come on.

(chuckles) That was...

- Nice save. - I'm very nervous.

This is a stacking challenge, and

I'm a whole foot shorter than Colby.

So my strategy here is to try to make this structure

as wide as possible

so it doesn't get higher.

But Colby kind of

figures out that strategy.

And he pretty quickly just starts

to go higher and higher and higher.

Damn.

And so I'm worried he's just going to make this structure

super tall

so I can't even reach

and he would automatically win by default.

This is not feeling good, Savannah.

It's okay. You got this.

(sighs heavily)

But the positive takeaway for me

in that situation with Savannah is that I did leave

with the feeling that she might be somebody I could play with.

I grew up watching you.

This game has done a lot for me.

SAVANNAH: I'm happy to keep my vote,

but I'm more excited to just beat Colby.

for so much as a kid, and, like,

now not only am I playing with my heroes

Like, something about the way you won pissed off Ozzy,

and that Colby spoke about it in some kind of...

in some... (clears throat) negative light.

What, they're trying to say he cheated or something?

That it's-- it was what you told us,

that they'd made an agreement or something and that they...

(audio fades)

When I told Coach about what happened at the journey,

he seemed a little, like, freaked out.

He was kind of like non compos mentis for a moment.

Like, he was just a little, like...

His eyes were rolling around in his head, and he was like...

(groans)

- Thank you. Thank you. - Yeah.

MIKE: I feel like, you know, I needed

to tell him, but he,

he took it harder than I thought.

COACH: For the record,

Ozzy said to Q, "Q, if you get it,

I promise I won't snake it from you."

And I just kept my mouth shut. I didn't say boo diddly.

To hear Ozzy throw me under the bus like that,

against my honor, it really bothered me.

It took me all the way back

to Final Tribal Council in South Pacific

when Ozzy politicked to the jury

that I wouldn't get the million dollars.

I felt like, you know, here we go again.

He can freaking eat my shorts. You want beef, pal?

You want beef? I'll give you some friggin' beef.

People have different currency coming into this game. I have

the currency of being a man of my word.

So my fear is that my currency has been devalued

and people are going to think

that I'm playing a dishonest game.

Welcome to Survivor 50, baby.

There's always going to be stumbling blocks.

How you handle those challenges

is going to really determine your longevity in the game.

Martin Luther King said, "The greatest measure of a man

"is not how he stands in times of comfort

but how he rises up in times of controversy and change."

And so,

this setback actually fueled me

and reminded me that this game is going to be a battle.

It's season 50, and everybody's going to take

the gloves off and go for it.

COLBY: Let's go ahead and cut to the end.

There wasn't much up for grabs.

It was either winner gets to keep their vote

at the next Tribal Council, loser loses their vote.

We'd hoped there would be an advantage or something there.

So then we played the game, and she won,

so I lost my vote.

And, look...

- No, she just kept it. - She just kept hers.

That's crazy.

Yeah, so it just... It stinks.

Q: This is bad. Within this core five,

we're down two votes.

When you don't have a vote,

you're worthless in the decision-making,

in who goes home, but also you're an easy target.

It's gonna be trouble in paradise.

SAVANNAH: This structure is already, like, starting to sway.

So Colby grabs a block,

gets, like, right up there, and it falls.

(overlapping chatter)

I kept my vote. I kept my vote.

So, coming back to camp,

I do want to be honest.

I want to tell them that, yeah, I kept my vote

and Colby lost his vote.

But I'm not going to tell them

about my secret Block a Vote 'cause

I don't trust any of these people,

and I know the minute I tell one person,

everybody's gonna find out about it.

My gut reaction, like the second she said it, I was like, "Pfft."

Savannah's super savvy, clearly.

She's such a player in this game.

So Savannah's becoming a bigger and bigger target now because

she can't hide what a good player she is.

And now she's gone on this journey

and might have come home with an advantage.

ANGELINA: You know blackjack?

Do you go against the book when you're at third base?

- What? - AUBRY: What's that mean?

There's one card

And I'm thinking to myself, that's odd.

unless they need to do, like, another evaluation.

So now I'm nervous.

PROBST: Let's recap.

Joe, at the challenge,

you weren't as concerned

at that point because you're not sure, right?

Yeah, it's often difficult to tell

immediately after an injury.

It needs a little bit of time to settle down,

and it gives you a bit more information.

Now that the immediate pain has settled,

Kyle's able to localize where the pain is

a bit better, aren't you? And you're saying

it's not really the ankle joint, but it's behind the leg.

- Yes. - Where the Achilles tendon is.

- Yes. - PROBST: And the Achilles-- that's what attaches the calf

to the heel?

Yes, it's the biggest tendon in the body,

and it takes a lot of force

when you sprint or when you jump like you did in the challenge.

PROBST: You can't walk without an Achilles tendon.

- Exactly. - Okay.

So what is the test you want to do today

to help determine even more of what's happening?

DR. JOE: One of the things we can do is have a look

at the Achilles tendon with an ultrasound machine

to see if that gives us any more information, and we can

do that here on the beach. Now, if we can

have you lay on your front facing that way,

and we'll have a quick look.

So we've got the muscles of your calf here,

and they come down to the tendon,

to your Achilles tendon here, and this is where you're tender.

Is that all right if I squeeze just there?

- Yeah, it's not that bad right now, actually. - Okay.

That's not me lying, I'm telling the truth.

- I believe you. - We'll have a quick...

a quick look if I hold it up that way.

What we're looking for is any dark areas

that might indicate damage to the tendon,

which indicates blood or swelling within the tendon.

Now, it can be difficult to tell with the ultrasound.

- Sometimes you can't get a true picture. - PROBST: Okay.

But there are some other tests we can do as well.

Okay. All right, you good with that, Kyle?

- Yeah, whatever you guys say. - Okay. - Okay.

ANGELINA: My hope is that they're just like,

"You can stay, but, like, you have to...

"Like, you have a risk, if staying,

of, like, hurting it more," or something like that.

And let him choose rather than them choose for him.

- That's what I was hoping. - GENEVIEVE: Whether they're

your, like, ally or enemy, it's just not a fair way. Like...

It's not.

He's too good of a dude.

DR. JOE: What we're looking for, Jeff,

is when we squeeze a normal calf muscle,

it tightens up the Achilles tendon...

- PROBST: Right. - If you just relax your leg, Kyle.

You can see as you squeeze the Achilles, the toes point down.

That tells me this Achilles tendon is intact,

and the muscles are connected, and it's all working.

- Okay. - So if we try it on Kyle's bad leg now,

just keep an eye on the toes here.

- PROBST: Yeah. - There's a tiny flicker.

- PROBST: Yeah. - But you can see the difference.

PROBST: Yeah, yeah.

All right, walk me through

where we're at and what you think is happening.

That test tells me that it's likely that there is

severe damage to your Achilles tendon,

and it may be completely ruptured.

You may have completely snapped your Achilles tendon.

Often it will need an operation.

Sometimes it can be treated without an operation.

It will need a minimum of three months physiotherapy either way.

Can...? Like, what is the harm, I guess,

in allowing me to stay where...?

PROBST: I-I can speak to that.

We do have a duty of care out here.

And it's not always just a question

of if it's life-threatening.

Risk of real damage is real.

- KYLE: Because I... - We're barely into this game.

Is that what it is? That this...

If this doesn't get treated immediately, then I'm done for?

Your Achilles tendon--

the tendon ends need to be together to heal.

And you need to be wearing a special boot for that.

And without that, you do risk long-term damage,

which-which could be permanent.

PROBST: I mean, look, we're in the middle of a jungle.

- KYLE: Yeah. - If we let you stay out here

and then something worse happened,

and now you've got a limp

or a hobble the rest of your life, it's not worth it.

Yeah, I understand.

Man, I'm sorry, Kyle.

It breaks my heart for you.

It really does. The last 36 hours,

everybody's been worried about you

and hoping that it wouldn't come to this.

All right, let me go get the rest of your tribe, all right?

AUBRY: When things take too long,

it's generally not a good sign.

I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I know that there's some news to be delivered.

It just feels really unfair.

We've all worked so hard to get here.

Yeah. Um, Dr. Joe,

he did a specific test to Achilles tendons,

and he's pretty much concluded that it's probably ruptured.

And, um,

living out here and... and not putting enough, uh, care into it

right now could be irreparable moving forward.

So I, I'm getting pulled.

- Oh, my God. - Oh.

KYLE: Like, listen, I... I get it.

You know, I-I just got married.

You know, I got so many things going for me.

I wouldn't trade these moments

with you guys for anything, though.

I thought... I didn't think

that I could have a better experience than...

Come on. Don't make me cry.

I did not think I could have a better experience

than what I had last time, but meeting you guys

and hanging out with you

and making new friends and seeing you guys has...

has really meant a lot to me.

Even-- it was before this happened

and after this happened.

The fact that you were even willing to let me

hop around here like an idiot.

PROBST: Angelina, what Kyle was just expressing

is something that's hard to convey,

but you see it in moments like this when

you're just a group of people trying to make it out here.

(sniffles) When you're out here,

and you're stripped of everything,

you form bonds on a hyper speed.

And Kyle's the heart of this camp.

And it's a loss to us, it's a loss to the season,

that he didn't get to play more.

of everything that I've wanted in life.

So this experience, even though

it's not as long as I wanted it to be, um,

it means the world to me.
