Where's Santa?
He's not here yet.
We have to lure him into the house with milk and cookies,
or he won't leave presents.
How does he get in?
The chimney, duh!
But what about the fire?
Santa is fire-proof.
But there's 378 million kids who celebrate Christmas,
average 3.5 kids per family, that's 91.8 million homes.
Even if Santa travels east to west using time zones
in the Earth's rotation to gain 31 hours,
he'd still need to hit 822.6 houses per second
traveling 3,000 times the speed of sound.
How does he do it?
He's fire-proof.
(LOUD CRASH)
What was that?
It sounded like something on the roof.
-Santa! -Santa!
BOY 1: Look!
BOY 2: It's Santa Claus.
(NERVOUSLY) Santa?
(SHRIEKS)
(BOTH SCREAMING)
(THEME MUSIC PLAYING)
(GROWLS)
SCOOBY: Scooby-Dooby-Doo!
(JINGLE BELLS PLAYING)
(SIGHS)
There's no better place to celebrate Christmas than Rockwellville.
Clearly, they take their holiday fun very seriously.
(AIR PUMPING)
Like, not as seriously as Scoob and I.
Thanksgiving to New Year's is the critical eating season.
We're in training to keep our metabolism up
so we don't have to stop chowing down.
It's scientifical.
Let's see how Daphne's doing with the Mystery Machine's decorations.
(HORN TOOTING)
Surprise!
Uh, was the party supply store out of Christmas decorations?
No. It's my birthday!
-Happy birthday! -Happy birthday!
Wait, did you just throw us your surprise birthday party?
Growing up, I never had a birthday party.
It was always overshadowed by Christmas.
(DECK THE HALLS PLAYING)
Who's up for a sack race?
-We are! -We are!
Aw, I'm sorry, Daph. Happy Birthday.
So, you are going to put up
the Christmas decorations now, right?
No. Just one year I want it to be about my birthday.
But don't you see?
I brought us to the ultimate Christmas place,
to find the ultimate Christmas-related mystery.
So we can, you know, help orphans,
bring peace and joy to all mankind
by saving Christmas.
(THE FIRST NOEL PLAYING)
(MUSIC STOPS)
Thanks, George, uh,
I'll probably have another epiphany in about 15 minutes.
See you there.
-Hold on, you want to celebrate Christmas... -My birthday.
...by purposefully adding terror to it?
It, i.e., my birthday.
With a Christmas-related mystery?
You can't choose what kind of mystery falls into our laps.
(SCOFFS) What other kind of mystery could possibly exist here,
except a Christmas-related one?
Here ye, it's time for the 5:00 evening news carol!
(ALL GASP)
* Someone saw a pterodactyl on the edge of town
* Are we all doomed?
A pterodactyl?
Now, that's a mystery.
I'll bet it has to do with that archeological dig we passed our way into town.
Velma, think about it, a living pterodactyl?
That's ridiculous.
Maybe what they really saw was some kind of giant, flying ghost reindeer.
It's a pterodactyl.
But a pterodactyl doesn't fall into a Christmas-related category.
A pterodactyl!
(ALL SCREAMING)
(GROWLS SOFTLY)
Get into the Mystery Machine!
(CRASH)
(TIRES SCREECHING)
(ALL EXCLAIMING)
My birthday cake!
Hang on!
(ALL SCREAMING)
Like, is there a part two to this plan?
Part two.
(BEEPS)
(ALL SIGH)
-Sorry, Fred, but it appears we ended up with a non-Christmas-related mystery.
So, what's our next move?
Don't worry. I know exactly where we should go.
(SIGHS) My special day keeps getting specialer.
I thought we were going to the archeological dig over there.
How exactly can an orphanage be connected to a pterodactyl?
How can anything not 150 million years old be connected to a pterodactyl?
Point taken, but I can't help feeling you're really looking for a Christmas mystery
instead of trying to solve the one we have in front of us.
(SIGHS) Okay, Velma.
I don't see how we're supposed to save orphans at an archeological dig,
but I'll humor you.
Gee, thanks.
FRED: Hello?
Anybody here?
Like, anybody not from the Jurassic Period?
-(DRILLING) -(SHRIEKING)
Huh? (SCREAMS)
(ALL GASP)
Ah, splendid!
The new volunteers!
Uh, no. We're not the volunteers.
Great! I'm Dr. Mezmit. I'm heading up this dig.
Well, don't just stand there,
there's lots of work to be done.
(GROANS) We're not the volunteers.
We're investigating the pterodactyl in Rockwellville.
A living pterodactyl? (CHUCKLES)
That's preposterous!
That's what I said.
Why investigate it? It is what it is.
What are you digging for here, doctor?
Well, we found a pterodactyl nest, perfectly preserved.
Someone thought they spotted preserved eggs as well.
Aye, they'd be priceless!
Unfortunately, that's when the cave-in happened.
So, what happened to the nest?
Well, I'm afraid it was completely buried.
A total loss!
Sadly, the mayor has shut us down.
So, let's get to work. Come on, chop-chop.
No, see, we are not the volunteers.
Splendid! I could use all the help I can get.
Dr. Mezmit.
Ah, David!
Part of my original team of volunteers,
barely escaped the cave-in.
The boy's a natural with machinery,
though lacks a bit of confidence.
Dr. Mezmit, I'm sorry.
I was volunteering at the Christmas festival
and I tried to get more people to come, but they're too scared.
Oh, David, dear boy,
these are more than enough volunteers.
Okay, I think we're done here.
Of course, I know exactly where we should go next.
No, Fred! Not the orphanage, the mayor's office.
Fine, but we can do a pterodactyl mystery any day.
One day a year, that's our only chance to save Christmas
and to join people of all race, creed and color together in song!
Party string!
Come on, guys.
Remember, I'm trying to have a birthday party here.
Oh, like, yeah, and that means more eating. (GIGGLES)
Scoob and I are done trying to destroy Christmas with mysteries.
We need to train for the big Christmas feast.
Okay, okay, fine.
I'll make you a deal.
I'll make sure you have a birthday party,
and I'll help you train, if you help me with the Christmas mystery.
It's not a Christmas mystery.
And, Velma, I'll get you a book or whatever.
Exactly how would you help us?
(MYSTERY MACHINE BEEPS)
FRED: Mystery machine traveling gym.
The treadmill even powers the van when you are running on it.
Imagine the calories you can burn.
Like, Scoob, we can achieve an entire seventh,
maybe eighth helping with that.
Eight helpings?
Hmm, deal.
Great!
Then to the mayor's office.
(WHISTLING)
So, which of you guys wants to be the clown for the party?
These may be the strangest events in which I've ever willingly participated.
So, Scoob?
Do you think these are the strangest events
Velma's ever willingly participated in?
The day is young.
(PTERODACTYL SHRIEKS)
(BOTH SCREAMING)
(ALL SCREAMING)
It's a pterodactyl!
Like, run!
Whoa! Hey, guys, slow down!
I don't think that's the best advice.
(PTERODACTYL SHRIEKS)
Huh?
(GASPS)
...on your left, you'll see the largest candy-cane display
in the tri-state areas.
And if you look over here...
No, no! Left! Looking left!
There is no right, there is only left!
(TIRES SCREECHING)
(SCOOBY EXCLAIMING)
(ALL EXCLAIMING)
Zoinks!
(ALL GASP)
Get down!
(SHRIEKS)
Mayor Riker, can you tell us why you closed down the archeological dig?
It wasn't worth the risk.
This town prides itself on celebrating Christmas, not archeology.
Besides, look what they unleashed.
The downside is some of the funding for the dig went to the orphanage
since the site was on their land.
Did you say orphanage?
As in orphans?
The kind you help?
Um, well, I didn't say all of that,
but we do our part.
Every year we put a giant tree in town square
and hang a gift on it for every person in town,
it's a big operation.
And we're here to help.
Has anything out of the ordinary occurred?
You know, like, uh, evil elves or ghosts of any particular tense of Christmas?
You mean besides the pterodactyl?
Yeah, uh, besides that.
(BOTH GASP)
Hopefully, the rest of the festivities will go off without a hitch.
(BIKE BELL RINGING)
That is if old Alistair Leventhal
finishes the new star for the tree in time.
He's redesigned it for the third time.
That is mysterious.
A Christmas tree needs a star.
Someone should investigate.
Oh, knock it off, Fred.
The pterodactyl is our mystery,
and, as you've admitted, it's not Christmas-related.
But it is pointing us in one direction.
VELMA: No, just no.
Okay, so a few of the Christmas mystery pieces
are still missing from the puzzle.
The puzzle with a giant picture of a pterodactyl on the box?
(SNIFFING)
Hmm?
It looks like a gift-wrapping bow.
The adhesive made it stick to Scooby's nose.
Like, here's another one.
Hmm, let's look around.
DAPHNE: What's so strange about finding gift bows in a town like this?
I don't know, but it's the first Christmas-related clue we found.
Which means it's not connected to our mystery
and it's not a clue.
Uh, Fred, didn't you park the Mystery Machine over there?
FRED: Hmm.
(ALL GASPING)
-(SCOOBY-DOO WHIMPERING) -(DAPHNE SCREAMING)
Scooby-Doo!
Daphne!
DAPHNE: Worst birthday ever!
After them.
(BRAKES SCREECHING)
(HORSE NEIGHING)
-(SCREAMING) -(NEIGHING)
(EXPLODES)
(AIR WHOOSHING)
(SCREAMING)
(PTERODACTYL SHRIEKS)
FRED: I can't believe it.
That pterodactyl is ripping this town to pieces.
My stubborn search for a Christmas-related mystery just destroyed Christmas.
And my birthday.
Which puts us back at square one.
What have you done to my shop?
Like, we didn't do it.
It was a pterodactyl.
I don't have time for this.
I have to finish the star for the top of the tree.
The star.
(SILENT NIGHT PLAYING)
Fred, what are you doing?
Following a star.
Huh, huh?
I liked your last epiphany better.
You're Alistair Leventhal.
The shop's closed.
Like, this place is amazing. (GIGGLES)
You must love Christmas.
Hate it. I'm an artist.
People pay me to make this holiday garbage,
otherwise I wouldn't get near this pit of a town.
Is this the star for the top of the tree?
Yeah, I finally got it just right.
The mayor told us you redesigned the star a few times.
Judging from the dates, you made all the revisions in the past few days.
Yeah, I didn't realize how dang big the tree they got was.
The mayor can complain all he wants,
but when he finally sees the result,
he'll be as surprised as everybody else.
-Surprise. -Surprise.
Really? For me?
Oh, no, you're having a thing, okay.
Look, if you kids don't mind, they're coming to pick up the star any minute.
Merry Christmas.
The pterodactyl is going to strike again,
and it'll be our last chance to stop it.
Agreed, and I have a plan.
The tree celebration starts in a few minutes, so we have to hurry.
Like, did I miss something?
Where are we going?
To save Christmas.
(GEORGE PANTING)
Oh, I missed the epiphany, didn't I?
It's okay, George, I improvised.
ALL: Mmm-hmm. Mmm-hmm. Yeah.
VELMA: It was fine.
I was totally epiphed.
You guys better make sure that star's on tight.
(ALL CHEERING)
-(PTERODACTYL SHRIEKS) -Huh?
WOMAN: Look!
You're gaining on him.
Like, great, let's get closer to the angry flying dinosaur!
Good plan, Fred.
Don't worry, I'm...
Daphne, what are you doing?
(BLOWS PARTY HORN)
This might be my last chance to celebrate my birthday.
There. A birthday party needs a clown.
I'm honored.
(PTERODACTYL SHRIEKS)
(GASPS)
(SHRIEKS)
He's too fast.
I got an idea, the birthday girl's weapon of choice.
Welcome to the party!
(PTERODACTYL SHRIEKS)
It's working!
Fred, the presents!
Here, use the sacks!
ALL: Yay!
Time for cake!
(ALARM BEEPING)
Uh-oh, guys, we're... (GASPS)
...going down!
(ALL SCREAMING)
-The treadmill! -The treadmill!
Huh? Oh, right!
(SHAGGY SCREAMING)
(ALL GASP)
ALL: Hmm?
(ALL CHEERING)
ALL: Whoa!
(ALL CHEERING)
Santa?
ALL: Yay!
(ALL CHEERING)
On behalf of Rockwellville,
I want to thank you kids for saving Christmas from a pterodactyl.
That is no pterodactyl.
ALL: David?
That's right, David was part of the volunteer team
that discovered the pterodactyl nest at the archeological dig,
which included one perfectly preserved pterodactyl egg.
He also volunteered at City Hall and hid the egg
by wrapping it like a present,
which, unfortunately, got mixed up with the others.
FRED: David decided he had to steal all of the presents by taking the entire tree.
Enter the pterodactyl.
A wiz with mechanical devices, he built a working pterodactyl
that could carry off heavy objects.
VELMA: Only David had been at both the dig site and City Hall
since the cave-in,
and he left a trail of bread crumbs.
He realized, in order to successfully grab the tree, he needed help.
Alistair Leventhal's help, to be exact.
What? That's preposterous!
FRED: Leventhal wanted out of Rockwellville and David was his chance.
For a cut of the money from selling the egg,
Leventhal agreed to redesign the star on the top of the tree
to match the specifications David needed to take it away.
That's why he redesigned it.
David thought we were on to him,
so he tried to take us away too.
Like, it looks like they'll be taking him away instead.
And we would've gotten away with it too, if...
Oh, be quiet, we didn't.
(LAUGHING)
And here's a present for you, little guy.
My present!
(BOTH SOBBING)
(GASPS) A giant egg.
Wow, you really understand children.
That's the pterodactyl egg.
Since this was found on land owned by the orphanage,
that means money from its sale belongs to them.
You saved the orphanage!
You've got to be kidding.
Well, I gotta say,
I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas mystery than this one.
And you will be the guests of honor at our giant Christmas feast.
I hope you've worked up an appetite.
(CHEWING AND SLURPING)
What did he say?
He said, "We're way ahead of you!"
But first, the final thing this special day needs.
Everybody joined together in song. Hit it.
(HARK THE HERALD TUNE) * Happy Birthday, Daphne
* Happy Birthday, Daphne
* Happy Birthday, Daphne
* Happy Birthday, Daphne
* Happy Birthday, Daphne
* Happy Birthday, Daphne
* Happy Birthday, Daphne
* Happy Birthday, Daphne
Happy Birthday, Daphne.
Aww, thanks, guys.
And Merry Christmas.
