...our team had one of
the most bizarre experiences yet

out of all of our investigations
on Skinwalker Ranch.

You starting to get
some of the fluid coming back?

Yeah, looks like we got it back!

Oh, yeah, I can see it.

TRAVIS:
While we were drilling
into the mesa

where we've discovered evidence
of a cavern system

as well as some kind
of large metallic obstruction...

mysterious communication signal

and energy spike
at 1.6 gigahertz

on his spectrum analyzer...

It's as if this thing
is broadcasting.

...just like we got
two weeks ago

after digging
near Homestead Two.

when Erik played the frequency

for Dragon and Tom Lewis,
who were over at Homestead Two

checking for any other
strange energy readings...

The last thing I remember
is you were

on the radio
and you played that weird sound.

So, yeah, I just kind of...

tried to catch my balance,

you know, as best I could and...

But I-I couldn't hear anything.

I couldn't see anything.

I really thought
I was having a heart attack.

My feet felt like they were
in blocks of ice.

I couldn't catch my breath
until I got off the ranch.

And my vision
was kind of the same way.

It came back as soon
as we got out of the gate.

That's when it cleared.

Flew to the ER.

Hooked me up to an EKG.

I'm wearing a heart monitor
just to make sure

that it's not still happening.

ERIK:
When we talk about our
heartbeat, we're talking

about something that is
e-electrically driven.

And it's as if there were
some sort of...

disturbance
to that electrical rhythm

-of your heart.

I don't know what it is
about Homestead Two,

but this is now three instances,

with Tom Lewis and Roland McCook
almost blacking out,

as well as where Travis
got radiation burns.

This area is
a high caution area,

and I'm gonna make sure

that I'm keeping my eyes open

is more people getting hurt.

for us to investigate than what
is affecting our health.

THOMAS: Well, you guys ready
to go at it again?

AARON:
Yeah, we're ready.

Aaron, you're gonna want
to see this.

This is what came out
of your tank.

This material here.
It's-it's rather brittle.

Out of the spoils that we went
and dumped over there.

This came out of the pit?

-Yeah.
-Yeah.

Wow.

TRAVIS:
A couple weeks ago,

a former security officer that
used to work for Robert Bigelow

showed Thomas Winterton

and Kaleb Bench
a spot on the mesa

where he said
a large cave was located.

But now
it's all covered by boulders.

Oh, yeah. This is it.

So, for the last few days,

while I've been away
from the ranch,

the guys have been conducting
a drilling operation

to see if a large void or cavern
really could be inside there.

Come on, sweetheart.

TRAVIS:
The plan was to drill laterally

from the road
into the base of the mesa.

And so far, nearly 300 feet in,

they've discovered
evidence of a void.

But the drill bit
has also been scraping up

against a huge obstruction
that it can't penetrate.

And a bunch
of small metallic fragments

have come out in the spoils.

Any chance this could be
coming off of your equipment?

There's no way
it would come out of the drill.

TRAVIS:
Now, we don't know

if Bigelow had a cave
purposely covered up,

but given the rumors we've heard

about everything
from an underground base

to even a spacecraft
being hidden in the mesa,

makes the drilling team
really curious

what this obstruction
or object could be.

Well, I say we get at it and see

-if we can get you past
that point.

Now that Tom's back
on the ranch and recovering,

we're ready
to get back to drilling.

And speaking for myself
and the rest of the team,

we're not stopping
until we get some answers

about what's going on

with this mystery
inside the mesa.

ERIK:
The results
of Bigelow's investigation

have never been fully released.

There's talk of evidence

having been discovered

to support the idea
of some kind of base

or perhaps
an ancient alien artifact.

I'm not sure why others
have come to that conclusion,

but clearly something strange
is going on in this mesa.

As we continue drilling,
I'll be monitoring

the spectrum analyzer,
the TriField

and other meters,
looking for that strange

1.6 gigahertz RF signal
that we've encountered

or for any potentially dangerous
spikes in radiation.

No, that's going down the hill,

Yeah, I'm still hitting
that ledge and...

it keeps pushing me down.

How far back are we?

We are about 311 foot.

Okay. And you're
still hitting up against that?

As far as any anomalous signals
or data or anything,

concerning that that's happening

And that ledge seems to be
angled down at a slight angle,

and the bit's coming up
at such an angle

-that as he's pushing,

-So,

um, yeah, he continues
to be pushed down

-deeper.
-Yeah.

(grinding, creaking sounds)

Boy, that thing sounds like
it's hitting something hard.

What the heck is...

Hey, guys, come on down here.

That was quite the noise
that was just making.

Yeah, I'm up against
something pretty hard right now.

So, we're coming up
about 11 inches every ten feet.

It was--
it was directing you downward.

And now you're still on it but
it's allowing you to go upwards?

-Right.
-So it-- That-that tells us
something about the shape

-of this hard layer.
-Mm-hmm.

Or this-this... Whatever
this impenetrable thing is.

So it sounds like you're
describing kind of a "V,"

where this hard shelf
is coming down.

And now you're saying that it's
starting to turn and go back up.

So we've got kind of a-a "V"

that your bit is sitting there
bumping up against,

trying to find a place
to start drilling up.

-Is that right?
-Right. Right.

May not even be a "V."

It could even be...

maybe a dome.

-AARON: It could a dome the way
it's going. -Oh, really?

-How far back are we?

We are about 330, 340 feet.

Gosh.

ERIK:
Our drilling expert,
Aaron, reports that

he's hitting some kind
of hard layer that

he describes as perhaps a dome
inside the mesa.

There's no good reason for that
as far as we're aware.

We're gonna find out what
it is and why it's in the mesa.

How unusual is it
in your experience

to not be able to punch up
through something like this?

The stuff that we're using
right now

to drill up through this mesa,

it should go through
that layer pretty easily.

-But it's not.
-And it's not.

I'm gonna be really
fascinated to see

what's coming out of that hole,

so when you guys get ready
to dump the spoils,

we definitely want
to put a screen

under there and catch it.

-We definitely want to
analyze that.
-If we're doing that,

it should be at the bottom
of that pit right there.

THOMAS:
Okay.

We'll go ahead and get
that sucked out for you

and head over there to dump it.

As we get deeper into the hill,

Aaron keeps hitting
a hard surface.

And so we set the screen up.

We have this large object
that we're bumping up against,

and maybe there's something
coming out

that could give us a clue
as to what that is.

BRYANT:
There we go.

(engine stops)

THOMAS:
More metal.

Check this out.

BRYANT:
Wow, that is a lot
of metal.

-Look at this.
-Same thing?

BRYANT: I cannot believe
there's that much metal in this.

I mean, look how much of it
there is.

Wait, there's one right...

THOMAS:
And some of it's fairly...

Look how much
of this stuff is in

-this little spoils pile. Right?
-Mm-hmm.

So, there's no telling
how much of this metallic crap

there is still in that hillside.

The fact that we're getting
all these thin layers

of this substance,
and Aaron was hitting something

so hard with his drill rig
he couldn't penetrate it,

are we just chipping away
at something

much larger under the mesa?

I don't know,
but we have to find out.

I mean, it's all through here.

-It's ground up chunks of it.
-It's... it's everywhere.

-Big pieces.
-Yeah.

It's almost as if it all
came off the same object.

That hard shelf
that he's been hitting,

-trying to get up through.

Well, I say we bag this up.

THOMAS:
Could this metal be
coming from that hard surface

that we've been
bumping up against

trying to break through
for hundreds of feet?

I want to get in there
more than ever now

and discover what exactly
that hard surface was,

and where is this metal
coming from?

That's out of the last dump.

AARON: Wow.
THOMAS: It's all metal.

This is the better part
of what we collected

on our screen, and it appears
to all be refined metal.

-Huh?
-And you're how far in?

Right around 400.

That's a big metal object.
'Cause you...

I mean, you still
can't cut through it?

I still can't get through it.

-What?
-ERIK: Wow.

Well, I mean,
I guess at this point

we need to figure out
a course of action.

(scoffs)
Many courses of action.

Well, the sample is in hand
can be analyzed,

and we can get
compositional information,

but it's not going to tell us
the whole story.

THOMAS:
A lot to follow up with.

Well, you guys have been
true professionals.

You've done a great job, you've
done everything we've asked.

Obviously, it's not your fault

that we've got something really
hard that's domed under there,

and so, yeah,
we'll press pause on it for now

and figure out
what we're going to do next.

But, we might have you back.

Aaron has tried and tried
to get his drill

to go up into the mesa,
but whatever is in there

is driving it deeper
into the ground

and we've reached the maximum
410-feet depth.

It's getting late in the day.

We'd love him to come back,
but for now,

we need to have him
get his equipment out

and reassess
what we're gonna do next.

Okay. Well, I say we wrap it up,

-ERIK: Hey, Travis.
-Hey, fellas.

You know, not to, to over-
exaggerate or dramatize it,

but I think that we could
have found one of the most

significant finds,
not only on the ranch, but maybe

-the entire Uinta Basin.
-You're kidding.

No. We're excited to
share with you what we found.

-Okay.
-According to Aaron,

who was the lead drill operator,

We've encountered
this layer that we can't

get the drill to come up
through.

-Really? He couldn't
penetrate it at all?
-Yeah.

He was never able to turn
that bit upwards

because he kept encountering
this hard layer

-that was actually
driving him deeper down.
-Wow.

What it was doing
was bumping up against that,

and it just kept kind
of skipping down the surface

and pushing him
further and further underground

until it started to
come back up a little bit.

And it appears to be some type
of dome shaped hard surface.

-What?
-Yeah. This makes no sense,
Travis.

He drilled to where
he put out 400 feet

of drill pipe and still was
never able to make the turn up.

400 feet
into the side of the hill.

That's insane!

And I want to say here, too,

Aaron has been drilling
for 20-plus years.

He is recognized as one
of the very, very best

in his field.

I think that if anybody
could have got through this,

it would have been him.

So it's 400 feet long, uh,

whatever this thick material is?

That's what it appears to be.

And I want to say here, too,

we were able to retrieve
a pretty significant quantity

of metal material.

-Wow.
-And there was an abundance

of this stuff, and it was
all very uniformly wafer-thin.

This is really bizarre.

What in the world could this be?

If there really is
a 400-foot-long, dome-shaped

metallic object
buried deep in the mesa,

maybe the guys have finally
pinpointed something

that could lead to answers

about why Skinwalker Ranch
has been the center

of so many strange phenomena
for all these years.

Well, I guess this begs
the question, after everything

we've discovered and talked
about: what do we do next?

We follow the data.

We're going to continue
following the data at that site.

This may be the most
interesting site on the ranch

-to us at this point.
-Agreed.

I want to get these samples
to one of the universities

here locally, and have
them do elemental mapping

to see if there is something
more here than meets the eye.

Here we are, Ryan.

Well, so our hole is over here.

Right when I got
back to Skinwalker Ranch,

we were all eager to see
just what the huge, dome-shaped

object buried inside
the mesa could be.

So we brought out underground
visualization expert

Ryan Marcantel

to feed a specialized robotic
camera into the hole we drilled.

Oh, wow. So, this goes
right under the mesa?

-400 feet that way.
-Wow.

When that bit got into the base
of the mesa there,

which is about 80 feet,

the bit came up,
it hit something hard.

What we have is we've got some
dome-shaped hard feature

under there that's dished out
like this.

RYAN:
Well, that's exciting.

Let's get the equipment
and we can set it up.

Hopefully, you can just
climb down,

-stand in that to feed it in.
-Easy.

RYAN:
The robotics that we use

are really designed
for confined spaces.

Great to use
in purposes like this.

So, we brought out a VT100,
which is a robot

with a PTZ camera on it,
1080P readout.

It can be configured
in many different forms.

Today, we're using tracks,
just because we're navigating

over different types of terrain.

Everything seems to be
working fine.

Uh, what we'll do is
we'll go ahead and,

I'll get down there
now and go ahead

-and put it in the hole.
-Okay.

And then we'll
go ahead and start, and, uh,

we'll keep a visual
on everything.

THOMAS:
With all the stories
that we've heard of tunnels

and caverns and underground
bases here in the mesa,

I finally feel like we're
starting to make some progress.

With this six-inch hole drilled
400 feet into the mountain,

who knows what we would see

if we could
get this camera back there?

We definitely need to
investigate it a lot more,

but I do feel like maybe
there's some evidence there

that could back up some of these
stories that we've been told.

BRYANT:
Well, looks like he's
getting it down in there.

Oh, look at that.

TRAVIS:
Oh, wow.

THOMAS:
That's pretty cool.

That's a pretty clear picture.

RYAN:
All right, so we will

Let me, uh, at least
get something here

so it doesn't have
to work so hard.

feed it into the hole
as I'm going forward.

Not very far though.

No, it's just right
at the entrance right now.

Everything looks
like it's working properly?

THOMAS:
Wait a second.

It's getting hung up.

So we bring in this camera
that sits on crawlers,

and it's designed to crawl up,

and it can go up as far
as a thousand feet.

Unfortunately,

we couldn't get it
to go up into the hole more

than two or three feet.

Why it's not moving,
is beyond me.

(grunts)

-BRYANT: He can't get it.
-RYAN: Yeah, it's not going.

THOMAS:
It's stuck.
Like, I can't even...

-RYAN: Okay.
-...I can't even push it.

I'm at 100% forward right now,

and it's just,
it's being held up.

That's not going anywhere.

That thing's not going.

I don't think
it's going to go in.

THOMAS:
This is sophisticated equipment.

It shouldn't be doing this.

Makes me wonder, has something
shifted underground

by what we did?

Or, you know,
is something else at play here

that's stopping it from going?

'Cause, you know, we saw how
smooth that thing was.

And now it's getting stopped.

TRAVIS:
This is bizarre.

This was a wide-open
drill hole just yesterday.

There's no reason
to explain how a hole

drilled through solid rock
would have closed in like this.

BRYANT:
Well, it's frustrating.

As much as I wanted it,
I-I don't think that this

is gonna get us back
to that 400-foot mark.

No, neither do I. And I know...

-that we're... we have gravity
on our side up there.
-Yeah.

So I'd really like to get you
and myself and Thomas up there

to see if we can't explore

and get better answers to what
we found in that upper cavern.

RYAN:
Yeah.

BRYANT:
What is that?

TRAVIS:
Last week,

during the drilling operation,

Dragon and Thomas Winterton

fed a snake camera
down into one of the crevices

they found in the mesa,

and they recorded clear video
of a metallic object

with strange lines
and different colors on it.

BRYANT:
It definitely looks like

it's reflecting something
off of there.

What is that?

Hey, Travis,
I left a radio there.

I've got one, too,
so if we need to communicate.

TRAVIS:
Thank you.
All right, I'll get it.

TRAVIS:
Ryan also brought
an additional HD camera device

outfitted with a claw extension
designed to grab objects.

The hope is that
if the metal Thomas and Dragon

originally got on video
was one piece,

then Ryan's claw
could retrieve it.

Or we could determine
if it's actually

a part of something much larger
beneath the surface.

THOMAS:
So our hope is,
to drop our snake camera

down at the same time
and with that gripper claw

grab onto the metallic object
we found earlier.

The ability of this one
to pan, tilt and zoom,

-RYAN: Yeah.

Well, let me go ahead
and lower this one in.

RYAN:

-THOMAS:

It's just not getting past.

-At that first little ledge.

Gosh, I just can't get it...
-RYAN: Yeah.

go past that point.

It's so frustrating.

I mean, we were down 30 feet.

Now we can't even
get it down to what,

12 foot?

How-how far down is that?

RYAN:
We were a little
over ten foot a while ago.

BRYANT:
I'm actually looking right now

at what looks
like a great big boulder.

It looks like it may
have actually fallen

right over that opening.

You see what I'm talking about,
right there?

-THOMAS: Oh, yeah.
-BRYANT: That's a big rock.

-THOMAS:
That is a big rock.
-That's a big rock.

What are the odds of one,
which almost looks like

a perfectly round boulder,

going and covering up
that opening?

-That's so odd.
-Gosh, this ranch.

TRAVIS: We've got
the elemental analysis

of that material
you guys pulled out

-of the drill hole.
-Really?

-ERIK: Yeah.
-It is actually one of the most

rare elements on the planet.

-THOMAS:
That's interesting.
-Why the hell is it in our mesa?

It's odd how you say
it's very cylindrical.

That's so odd.

THOMAS:
It is just like
it's been plugged up.

BRYANT:
It almost looks like
it was just a plug

that was stuck in place there.

BRYANT: It's disappointing
that we've asked Ryan

to come out
with this special camera

that's on a motorized vehicle,

that he claims can get
back inside the mesa.

But this vehicle couldn't
even make it a few feet

inside the hole,
so we couldn't explore

the lateral drill hole.

And now
this perfectly round rock

is covering the entrance to the
hole we want to get it down in.

Why is the ranch stopping us
from getting in there?

At the end of the day,
the ranch is going to do

what it's going to do

and I feel like
I'm almost helpless.

Hey, Dragon,

-Tom. You guys copy?
-You want to get it?

Yeah, Travis. Go ahead.

Have y'all found
anything up there yet?

THOMAS: We just found
a great big boulder,

almost perfectly round,

that fell down
and blocked the entrance.

Now that's a little bit crazy
and suspicious.

Yeah, Travis.

With this boulder in the way,

we really can't get
the camera deeper.

There's really not
any other course of action

we can take at this time.

TRAVIS:
When we were first started

investigating this spot,
we were told

by former Bigelow employee
Chris Bartel

that it used to be a cave.

So we wondered if someone
had purposely covered it up.

But now, seeing this drill hole
in the mesa

and this crevice up above
both getting inexplicably

blocked up overnight
makes no logical sense.

Just what the hell
could be in this mesa,

and what is preventing us
from finding out?

BRYANT:
We'll get it. It's just...

by these means,
it's not gonna happen today.

Let's get this stuff cleaned up
and get out of here.

We've got the analysis
back from the lab

that did the scanning
electron microscope,

uh, elemental analysis

of that material
you guys pulled out

-of the drill hole.
-Really? Yeah.

TRAVIS: The next day,
Erik received a report

from the materials science
and engineering department

at the University of Utah
about the metal

that the guys drilled
out of the mesa.

So, we all gathered in
the Command Center to review it

and see what this huge

dome-shaped object
might be made of.

The data that they gave us

from the elemental analysis
is really interesting.

On one side of the material,
there's, uh, tellurium

and on the other side of
the material there's europium.

Tellurium is
a semiconductor material

that is used in solar panels.

The europium, uh, it's been
experimentally measured

that under certain circumstances
is a superconductor.

-THOMAS: Really?
-Yeah.

TRAVIS:
The elements found in this metal

from deep inside the mesa

has properties just
like those of a semiconductor

and a superconductor,
which are both used

in modern-day electronics

like computer processors,
MRI machines,

electronic vehicles, radios,

and even smart phones.

But why is it here
on Skinwalker Ranch?

Now, what's interesting
is tellurium is

is the second, uh...

most rare element on the planet.

Same goes for europium.

It is actually
one of the most, uh,

rare elements, uh,
on the planet, also.

-THOMAS:
That's interesting.
-Wow.

TRAVIS:
Those things have specific uses.

Both of those materials
are used in developing

modern quantum computer systems.

ERIK:
So it sounds like
we're looking at a structured

material like as if it were
perhaps deliberately structured.

At least that's what I'm reading
into what you're saying.

Well, well, how-how else
do you get

one of the elements
only on one side

and one of the elements
only on the other side?

Well, that's a lot
of information to digest.

And how many pieces
did you have them test?

I sent two samples

-about this-this size.
-BRYANT: Okay.

And... and it was the same
way on both pieces?

-One side had that element...

Yeah, in fact that's pretty

that we've collected, there are
two distinctly different sides.

Tell me what the superconductor
on one side, semiconductor

on the other side-- tell me
what that would be used for.

Okay, so I have read

some speculative, uh, pa--

scientific papers in, like, uh,
classical quantum gravity,

couple other papers,
that suggest, uh...

that if you took layers
of semiconductors, conductors

and superconductors,

and you put these
in multiple layers,

you could actually create
a region,

uh, that might manipulate

the space-time metric.

Meaning it might bend
space and time.

Really?

And in fact, it's an experiment

that's being sort of tested
at the NASA Eagleworks Lab

where they're
trying to figure out

how to reproduce
something like that.

Right now,
NASA is testing a concept

for exploring areas
in deep space,

whereby stacked layers
of this type of material

that we found in the mesa

could be used to move
a spacecraft from one location

in the universe to another

faster than the speed of light.

Now this is a technology
that mankind hasn't proven yet.

So who or what might have
buried it on Skinwalker Ranch?

I-I just,
I just find it interesting

that on a ranch
where we have so much

electromagnetic interreference,
so many problems

with our, with our electronics
and-and we're pulling

out metal that appears

like it could have
a superconductor on one side,

conductor on the other side.

as we're getting into whatever

part of the mesa
that bears this material,

we start seeing unusual things

that was put in there
that we're finally hitting into

that was never supposed

about these deep caverns,

Why only one element on one
side? Why one on the other?

Why is it so wafer thin?
Why the hell is it in our mesa?

How did it get there and what
was it before it got there?

to a metallurgist.

be able to take samples

like this and put them
in front of someone who does

this work and ask,

to get his expert opinion

and help us figure out
what the huge,

dome-shaped object could be.

What among the rarer elements

did you see in the sample?

-Mm-hmm.
-The way I understand it,

there was
also trace elements of, uh,

europium and tellurium
in the sample.

This material was manufactured

as opposed
to a natural occurrence?

Yeah, and, you know,
the other interesting thing

uh, about it is

we do know that the drill bit
that brought this thing back

bounced off of this stuff.

It's like a glass,
it's like a ceramic composite.

that makes a lot of sense.

It reminds me of when I worked
on the space shuttle program

with the tiles
that we put on that.

That was a ceramic material
that was centered

and it had a huge
thermal capacity.

dome-shaped object in the mesa

is covered with the same
kind of materials that NASA uses

to protect space shuttles from
burning up when they reenter

buried on Skinwalker Ranch

really be true?

It's, like, pitch-black.

That is some dark, dark stuff.

One year ago, when we drilled

almost a hundred feet deep
at the triangle area,

we discovered
a strange substance

made of manganese, iron,
aluminum,

sulfur and silicon

that could also
be related to spacecraft.

If you go and take any

modern-day fighter plane
or spacecraft,

and you crush it up and
then you take a sample of it,

-you're probably
gonna get these materials.

And given the fact that
the aerial experiments

we conducted a few weeks ago

above the triangle,
ended up giving us GPS data

inside the mesa,
I'm really wondering

just what we're getting
close to finding here

on Skinwalker Ranch.

In talking to Kaleb on the radio

about a collapse in
at the triangle, it makes me

wonder what could be
causing this.

Oh, wow, it's back there a ways.

This is crazy, guys.

This spot is the exact spot

that we drilled into
that void last year.

That is a big one.

This massive collapse
was not only strange

because it happened
at the triangle.

It was also right where
we drilled last year

into another mysterious void.

Where we recovered
metallic materials,

that could be related
to spacecraft,

just like we found in the mesa.

I wonder what's causing that.

that disappeared
somewhere inside.

I just don't know
where it's going.

that all that water

made its way down to the void
we discovered last year

below the triangle
and caused a collapse?

an opening to a big void,

could that mean
that a tunnel or a cavern

under the triangle is connected
to the massive void

where we've discovered evidence

At what point do
you have to draw the line

and say this is

It seems like without fail,
every time we put

a shovel in the ground,
and in this case

I would extend
it to a drilling rig,

things just start happening.

other things go bad
in other spots.

The day after Kaleb noticed

the cave-in at the triangle,

we wanted to see if that event

might have been connected
to our drilling operation

and what we believe is

a massive dome-shaped
metal object

buried inside the mesa.

There's got to be some holes
in all of that right there.

Has to be.

So while Dragon and Thomas made

another attempt
to get around the boulder

with their snake camera
and get a better look at that

metal object down inside there,
I was scanning

other crevices near the drill
site with the spectrum analyzer,

looking for any signs
of strange energy spikes.

If the collapse that happened
at the triangle

really was connected
to the object in the mesa,

I wanted to see
if there might be any readings

for the 1.6 gigahertz RF signal

that we keep detecting
when strange things

happen on the ranch.

Well, it was really loud
up where we were at.

We were afraid that something
had crashed down there.

Maybe the inside
of this mountain is shifting

right now as we speak.
