[The Wolf]

[Episode 3]

What do you mean?

If it wasn’t for the mercy

of Castellan,

Princess Ping Yuan

and her child in the womb

would have been long gone.

Princess Ping Yuan.

Don’t panic.

I have received great favor from Lord Wen.

We can’t stay here long.

Come with me.

I survived

and witnessed that you

risked yourself and saved Princess Ping Yuan.

You kept the only blood of the former dynasty.

You secretly raised them

and treated princess’s

daughter, Princess Zhai Xing

as your own.

I can’t repay

your kindness

this life.

You were pretending to

frame my family,

you feared Your Majesty would condemn me.

You wanted to save us.

But all I want

is Zhai Xing would never know

her family background

and be safe.

You killed someone

and committed the capital crime.

So I will have to execute you.

I got my revenge.

There are no regrets.

Brother.

Rest in peace.

Young Master.

Well played.

Go and collect your bounty.

Thank you.

Isn’t that the wolf monster?

How come

you are like this now?

So poor.

When you were playing with me,

weren’t you arrogant!

A monster have feelings?

Feel sad?

You don’t know?

Your Xing Er

is never coming back.

She gave me

this bell.

You are like this.

She couldn’t protect herself.

Of course she sold you out.

If it wasn’t for her,

I couldn’t have this bell.

How was I supposed to know

it leads me to you?

Hurts, doesn’t it?

Blame yourself

for believing in Zhai Xing.

Look at that.

At this point,

did she come to save you?

Did she?

Did she?

The wolves!

Shoot!

Shoot!

Bastard!

Go away.

Run!

Shoot him!

Now!

Help!

Help!

Wolfie.

Young Master.

Save Young Master!

Pull me up.

Young Master.

Young Master.

Nice shot.

Shoot him to death!

If he gets away again,

His Majesty will not leave us alone.

Come on.

Stop!

Stop!

Stop!

His Majesty has found the truth.

It wasn’t him.

Everybody, stop!

Stop!

Shut up.

Wolfie!

How dare you!

I asked your sister

to come to you with my orders

and stopped arresting him.

And you broke her leg.

She’s still in a coma.

Guilty as charged!

My lord.

Jun Er was trying to protect himself.

Besides,

If Zhai Xing hadn’t lied to him...

That’s enough!

Your Majesty.

I’m sorry for the embarrassment.

Ma Jun.

After today,

you’re coming with me to the border.

You’ll be trained to be a soldier.

We will search the mountains

first thing in the morning.

We’ve got to get Wolfie back!

That won’t be necessary.

He’s just a savage.

Lead your army back tomorrow morning.

And as for Wolfie,

I’ll send someone to search.

It’s his fate.

If he dies,

that’s it then.

Hang the head of this traitor

on the gate of the city

to warn the others.

Zhai Xing.

Are you OK?

Dad.

Dad.

Where’s Wolfie?

No luck yet.

It’s too dark.

that all the valley

is in darkness.

It’s hard to search around.

His Majesty has ordered

that Ma Mansion

can only focus on the city affairs

and border protection.

We should stay out of it.

But His Majesty has also promised

to send people to search at dawn.

It’s too late.

He was so badly injured

and

he fell

in the valley from high.

If no one’s going to save him,

he’s gonna die.

No.

Zhai Xing.

Your leg is injured.

It’s not covered yet.

Dad.

We hurt him

and the innocent wolves.

We can’t just leave him alone

and let him die.

I will beg His Majesty now.

Beg him

to allow us to search.

No.

Dad.

No!

Dad, let me go!

I’m gonna go save Wolfie.

Zhai Xing.

Dad.

I know you want to protect him.

But I want to protect you.

And

our whole family.

What happened to Manager Wang

has made us

in danger.

If you disobey now,

then we

will be doomed.

You do worth

my efforts.

Good.

That look in your eye

is good.

Wild enough.

From now on, your life

belongs to me.

This is the nobility token for you.

I am the emperor.

Maybe you don’t understand that.

But I can give you

everything you

want.

Keep it quiet.

No one can know

I found Wolfie.

Pretend to search again

tomorrow.

Yes.

Now I have enemies

everywhere

anytime.

What’s more,

the neighboring country, Jin

is getting stronger every day.

I need to hire talents.

So Your Majesty

adopt this boy

and use him.

As long as he makes it through

my tough trainings,

I want him to be a real wolf,

inside and out.

Your Majesty.

The cure for him

has some serious side effects.

Wolfie.

I was wrong.

Please come back.

Xing Er.

The princess’s wedding

is a big thing in town.

Hurry up.

Help me here.

Don’t slack off

while Castellan is away.

Go, go.

Slow down.

Go help in the back

if you’re done here.

Make it quick.

Yes.

Princess.

May I ask

you something

other than

the city affairs,

like about your marriage?

You’ve been asking me

over and over again.

Go ahead.

What is it today?

Those are the lucky dates

your future husband’s house

chose for you.

Please choose one.

All lucky days.

Any one would do.

You are knowledgeable.

But you don’t know the business

between men and women.

They chose the lucky days

for you to choose

to show customs and respect ostensibly,

but there are

something more than that.

They’re afraid I’ll be in period

on my wedding day.

That’s

why.

Princess.

Well, if you know,

then why...

To tell the truth,

I will break off

the engagement.

What?

Princess.

Your future husband’s family is Shen Mansion,

who used to be the assistant minister

with very high rank.

If you do so,

how would Castellan explain to them?

In that case,

no one would

come and propose a marriage.

This is what

I want.

I’ve kept this from you.

My bad.

But it’s a show.

I’ve agreed with

the Shen.

The more real, the better.

These years,

people come and propose a marriage everyday.

Very annoying.

So in the very beginning

when I agreed to marry him,

I confessed to Childe Shen

that I’d break off the engagement

and ruin my reputation.

So no one would come to me again.

And Ma Mansion

has helped them before.

So he agreed.

Then

how to tell Castellan?

Father has urgent business in the capital.

And when he returns,

I’ll explain it to him myself.

Princess.

Mind your business.

Near the border between the two countries,

Xiao Gui, the Principality of Yang raises

money and recruits soldiers everywhere to

to take the cities of Jin.

Xiao Bao!

Xiao Bao!

Eunuch Zhang.

We must see His Majesty

and beg him for mercy.

Principality is a sinner,

but it shouldn’t involve his family.

Generals.

His Majesty’s overtaxing his nerves

these days.

He fainted earlier this morning,

the physician is treating him.

He specifically said

this is critical,

no one could interfere.

Principality’s family

is surrounded by

His Majesty’s troops

right now.

It’s urgent!

General.

When the physician is done,

I will be sure to report right away.

Thank you!

The order is here

from His Majesty.

Principality, Xiao Gui

has been unfaithful

and fornicated with the enemy.

There’s a conspiracy going on.

Immediately surround the place.

Respect this!

What?

We are wronged!

No surrender!

No surrender?

Let him in.

My Lord, my lord.

Uncle.

Uncle.

-Uncle. -Lord!

Uncle.

-Uncle. -Lord!

Uncle.

Lord!

Quiet.

Lord.

Surrender and you will live.

If not,

Principality

will be dispatched.

No surrender!

His Majesty clearly wants me dead.

No matter what,

we will die.

Uncle!

No surrender!

Rescue!

Lord!

There’s a wolf!

Lord Wolf is here.

Greetings, Lord Wolf.

For eight years,

Wolfie has thought

he was betrayed by Zhai Xing.

He’s well trained

to be the cold-blooded Lord Wolf,

tricked and exploited by Chu Kui.

His Majesty is recovered.

Generals.

Please enter.

Greetings. Your Majesty.

Rise.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Please, Your Majesty.

Show some mercy.

Please think twice.

His Royal Highness, Lord Wolf is here.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Rise.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

As you all know, I have a foster son.

He’s like my own.

He’s been staying in the palace for long.

Recent years,

I’ve delivered some important matters

to him.

But you governors

might not have seen him.

You might greet each other today.

Greetings, Your Royal Highness.

Greetings, Your Royal Highness.

You are excused.

Your Majesty.

Principality’s taken.

Nice.

I think all of you are getting old.

Good.

The rule of the world

values strength and gentleness.

Your generosity

and his strength

are

all my favorites.

As long as you are loyal,

I will make it worthwhile for you.

Castellan.

How is it?

We have decided to give up our military power.

Maybe that’s the only way

to protect

my family

and Kuizhou.

Castellan.

We only follow your lead.

If you hand over the military power to Chu,

I’m afraid the troops won’t agree.

My mind is made up.

And His Majesty has

ordered the Ma Troop to divide up.

Go to the border immediately

and report to the court.

I’m gonna take Jun Er back to Kuizhou.

Castellan.

I would never let you...

That’s an order.

No disobey.

Yes.

Greetings, Father.

You’ve done an excellent job.

That’s my boy.

Rise.

Come.

Among my many princes,

you are my most trusted one.

The only thing that concerns me

is that you still have a weakness.

I want you to go back to Kuizhou.

OK?

Yes.

Right now,

I can’t let Ma Ying live.

But his daughter, Ma Zhai Xing

might be

of help in the future.

I’ve heard the owner would make their wolves’ teeth

into lucky charms.

So, I had someone

made this

wolf tooth necklace for you.

That will keep you safe.

Do you like it?

Wen Yan.

Hai Die.

Greetings, master.

Where’s Mo Xiao?

Greetings, master.

You came quietly.

Improved.

You two

need more practice.

Come with me.

Yes, master.

There’s a new mission.

His Majesty has ordered us to Kuizhou

to spy on Ma Ying.

Yes, master.

As the principality was killed,

Jin’s crown prince took advantage of it

and ruled over the towns

taken by the principality before.

He rectified the repressiveness

and implemented the benevolent rule

which made the places thriving

and peaceful.

Take your pick, sir.

Cheap and sweet.

Xiao Feng.

Do people know about me

breaking off the engagement?

Yes.

But there are still some

men who would like to propose

waiting to see you.

Seriously?

You’re smart and beautiful.

Everyone knows it.

You may have broken off your engagement\,

but most of the people

think that

Shen Mansion is not good

enough for you.

So you stopped in time.

They hailed it.

In order to find a mate, the mantis

are willing to be eaten by the female mantis.

No matter what you do,

you just can’t

stop them.

Fine.

Let’s carry the thing through.

I’m gonna let them know

all of them will get nothing

but despair.

No hope.

Let’s go

meet them.

Yes.

Gentlemen, please take your seats.

Thank you, Princess.

Princess.

This is the son of the deceased

Minister Qi.

Childe Qi.

Princess.

This is son of Mr. Liu,

the feudal provincial in Luzhou.

Childe Liu.

And that’s General Qiao’s

son,

Childe Qiao.

Hello, Princess.

Xiao Feng has

told me why you are here.

You’re all from wealthy families

with remarkable backgrounds.

Along the way,

you must have seen the city and people here.

If you have any advice,

please let me know.

But if you gentlemen

are here to propose,

I have to refuse you.

So it’s true.

I’ve heard it before

that princess is never kind

to the people who come to propose.

You shut them out.

Even you broke off

the engagement.

You don’t like them at all.

But we are good

at everything.

Much better than Shen Mansion

or any others.

Princess.

If you have any tests,

bring it on.

Xiao Feng.

Yes.

Bring it up.

Do you want us

to make a poem

of these crates?

There’re three butterflies

in one of these

three crates.

If anyone can tell

which one it is,

we can talk about marriage.

We can’t see inside.

How shall we

tell that

there are butterflies in it?

With your ears.

Ear?

Everything in the world,

whether it’s the wind

or butterflies,

has a shape

and sound.

The butterfly makes sound when flying.

If you can hear it,

you will know the answer.

That’s strange.

Some one in this world

could actually hear it?

I see.

Please wait.

Let’s do this

to break her confidence.

I’m sure I can make her

my concubine.

So that we can

make a name for ourselves.

Gentlemen.

Have you got one?

I’ve been thinking hard.

It’s about wisdom and courage.

You’re testing our wisdom.

We’ll each pick a crate.

One of us would get it right.

In that case,

only one of you

would pass.

Everyone knows that proposing to you

is extremely hard.

It’s more like

a challenge.

As long as we pass it,

it’ll make us famous.

Whether we are going to marry or not,

it’s worth it.

Yes.

Xiao Feng.

Open them.

Yes.

I’ll go first.

Look.

Childe Qiao, what a pity.

Thank you.

Neither do you.

Two brothers.

Please open it.

Remember to attend my wedding.

Well...

What?

I know

it might happen.

It’ll be missing the point/

If you could

hear it,

you’ll know they’re empty.

Princess, you are

pushing it too far.

May I ask

who can see the wind

or hear

the sound of butterfly?

Wolf.

Probably.

I thought

it was absolutely extraordinary

and required extraordinary abilities.

But after all these years,

I get to understand

it’s not extraordinary.

It’s all about the heart.

If the princess wants to be alone all your life,

just say it,

don’t use those nonsense to

make difficulties for me

and humiliate us.

OK.

Please go back

and warn the others

I’ll humiliate everyone

who ever

comes again.

Farewell.

What’s wrong with her?

Butterfly?

Crates?

Nonsense.

Yeah.

I’m so tired.

Xiao Feng.

If someone still comes

tomorrow,

just tell them

I’m too sick to get up.

This test...

Only that guy can pass.

But after all these years,

we don’t know if he’s alive or dead.

Does princess

really want to be all alone?

Candied haws.

Steamed meat bun.

Freshly candied haws.

Yummy buns.

Delicious, inexpensive candied haws.

Fresh buns.

Candied haws.

Steamed bun.

Freshly candied haws.

Fresh buns.

Wen Yan.

Yes.

Find a place to rest.

Yes.

Thin dough skin and lots of filling.

Steamed bun.

Master.

Why don’t we have some tea

and get some rest?

Steamed meat bun.

Candied haws.
