of Chillicothe, Ohio,

six women have gone missing...

young mothers caught
in a vicious cycle

of addiction and prostitution.

Four of them
have turned up dead.

Woman: I found a woman's body
in a creek...

I'm Joe Berlinger.

I'm a documentary filmmaker
and an activist.

I'm working with
forensic analyst Angela Clemente

to find out what happened
to these women.

Kellough:
We got to get justice.

All of us in here
have to get justice.

Berlinger: We brought in
retired FBI agent

and criminal profiler
Steve Bongardt.

I want to know their background,
conflicts that are going on,

drugs they might be on.

We spoke to the victims'
families and friends.

And in the process, several
persons of interest emerged.

McCrary has beat up my niece.
She was scared of her life.

Mike Owes was at her house
drinking and partying.

Berlinger:
As we investigate, the name
of a certain local drug dealer

keeps coming up
again and again --

Ernest "Dollar Bill" Moore.

Somebody hurt
my granddaughter.

Dollar Bill
shot Timberly.

All the girls that have passed
away and been found missing...

Dollar Bill knew
every one of them.

Ruth: There's somebody out there
that knows what went on,

but they just won't tell
because they're scared.

Magill:
So we pray, "Our Father..."

Heather:
He put the gun to my chest,
and he said, "Live or die."

Landrum:
Everybody who knows information
that tries to come out

and talk about it,
they end up dead.

Coleman: He gave her
a hot shot of heroin.

Kellough: And I said,
"I know who your son is,

and I know what he did, too."

Sam: If she's out there,
please just let her go

[Echoing]
and let her come home.

Berlinger: Dollar Bill's
drug-trafficking operation

runs through various towns
and cities in southern Ohio.

Dollar Bill was known to be
a big drug figure regionally.

He was bringing drugs
from Columbus.

He came in and organized
a lot of this,

to market not only the drugs,
but use prostitution.

People was very fearful
of talking about Dollar Bill.

Berlinger: Could the women we're
investigating have been part

of Dollar Bill's
drug-trafficking ring?

What's interesting to us
is that you have an area

that's rife with drug addiction
and drug dealing.

From Columbus all the way
down into Chillicothe

and then down to Portsmouth.

This is a big drug route
right in the center

of where these women have gone
missing or turned up dead.

Bongardt: All these girls are
connected through buying drugs

from Dollar Bill
or one of his minions.

Dollar Bill comes from Columbus.

I mean, I think
we got to look at Columbus.

Berlinger:
We head to Dollar Bill's
hometown of Columbus

to find out more about him.

[ Siren wails ]

Speaking on the condition
of anonymity,

Dollar Bill's
childhood friend shares

some surprising insights.

Clemente: So, tell me about
growing up in Columbus

and the, you know --
the younger Dollar Bill.

How much money do you think,
average, do you think

he made a year
selling drugs?

Once he moved to Chillicothe,
his operation,

did he ever
come back to Columbus?

Did he get
the drugs himself?

Did he send somebody
to get the drugs?

Was there a way
he selected them?

And what else would you --

Knowing that Dollar Bill
was running drugs

between Columbus and Chillicothe

using female addicts
as mules,

the discovery of two new
missing women in Columbus

suddenly becomes very relevant

to our investigation
in Chillicothe.

I mean, they're two young,
Caucasian females with children

that have just disappeared.
-Absolutely.

Chillicothe's Chief of Police
said his investigators

were interested in
looking up possible similarities

between three cases down there
and two here in Columbus --

Jayme Bowen and Holly Logan.

Berlinger:
27-year-old Holly Logan
was last seen in Columbus

during the summer of 2013,

one year before Charlotte Trego
disappeared in Chillicothe.

Reporter: Amber Logan
shares happy memories

of her younger sister, Holly.

She's always been super smart
and intelligent,

from street smarts
to book smarts.

But a childhood tragedy would
set Holly on a grim course.

She was involved in the car
accident that my mom died in

when she was 9 years old.

I think that had a real impact
on all of our lives,

but especially hers.

Eventually, her family says,
her life spiraled into drugs,

addiction, and prostitution.

Berlinger:
We track down the last person
who may have seen Holly alive.

A man who goes by
the name "Stretch."

[ Laughs ]

[ Laughs ]

I was at Stretch's house
when Holly walked in,

and she was screaming
and yelling about,

"Screw you"
and, "I'm your baby's mom,

and I do what I want to"
and this and that and the other,

and that's how I met
the tornado we call Holly.

Berlinger:
Since many of the local
drug dealers rule this area

with an iron fist,
people are afraid to speak

on camera about any of them,
including Dollar Bill.

...because you want to
breathe tomorrow.

I have kids and family
in this neighborhood.

I'm not gonna talk about
none of them on a name basis.

No.

This is the place they say
that Holly got her throat slit.

As far as I know, they've never
found out exactly who did it,

and it's sad to say,
but who's to say

he didn't come back
and finish it?

[ Horn honks ]

Berlinger:
The brutality of the streets

was part of Holly Logan's
everyday life

and could have been the reason
for her disappearance.

Her police report
lists Israel Lee

as a person of interest.

[ Beep ]

Despite the Ohio Department
of Corrections denying us

an in-person visit,

we were able to get Israel Lee
to talk to us

through the prison's
video visitation program.

Hello.

Clemente: Hi, Israel.
You knew Holly Logan.

What do you know
about her life?

What did you hear
happened to Holly?

Berlinger:
Hearing this allegation

that Holly Logan's body
was burned,

a detail we learned earlier
about Charlotte Trego,

now takes on
a whole new relevance.

Did you hear that?

Jason McCrary said Dollar Bill
burned her like the other ones.

All we know is
that Charlotte Trego,

who was
the first missing woman

on our initial timeline,
was burned.

Not other one, ones.

There might be other girls
that are out there

that we don't know yet,

that Dollar Bill has been
doing this for a while.

Other potential women who aren't
part of the Chillicothe Six.

Do you know Dollar Bill
from Columbus?

Okay, so, and that's
the Ernest J. Moore

from Brittany Hills,
right?

Did Dollar Bill have anything
to do with Holly?

Okay.

Why are you agreeing

So you knew Jayme Bowen,
also?

the burning situation.

That's come up
in the Chillicothe

missing
and murdered women.

Berlinger: The rumor
that Holly was burned

is similar to the stories

we've heard about
Charlotte Trego in Chillicothe.

But because so much time elapsed
before she was reported missing,

her case has gone cold.

Holly's been missing
for months.

Bongardt:
Right. Even though this says
reported missing 12/29/14,

July of 2013
was when she was last seen.

We have a 17-month gap,

so definitely from
an investigative standpoint,

it's going to be hard
to figure out.

With no known ties
to Dollar Bill and no new leads

since her disappearance,

we are asking anybody
who has information

about Holly Logan
to contact the Columbus police.

It looks like we know
a lot more about Jayme.

Yeah. With Jayme,
there's a short time span

she went missing in.

She was going from her sister's
house to her parents' house.

Somebody had to have
seen something.

Like Tiffany Sayre
in Chillicothe,

Jayme went missing just
a few blocks from her home.

Unlike Tiffany,
it was during broad daylight.

Is there a connection
between her case

and the Chillicothe victims?

Clemente:
Jayme's a young mother,
so that's fitting the profile.

There's also a connection
in the sense

that she did
have a drug addiction.

And...
And who's the man
that set all this up?

I need to give him
a hug.

I have a daughter, so when I
heard that nothing's being done

in this case, it caught
my attention. No promises.

Really appreciate the help.
I need the answer.

Clemente:
Tell me about her.

Loud, bubbly, happy.

She lived here, so, I mean,
everything in here

is just an everyday reminder
of Jayme.

She disappeared
on a Thursday.

She was with
her older sister, Kay.

She actually left Kay's house
and told Kay,

"I'm going to Mom's."

Her last words was,
"Can I use your phone?

I'm gonna walk to Mom's
and get cigarettes."

Kay's house is less than
a 10-minute walk from here.

She left Kay's
about 10:45.

Kay gave her about 10, 15
minutes and called over here,

and my mom was here
and said,

"No, Jayme had
not gotten here."

So I called my phone.
Ring, ring, ring.

No answer.
No answer. No answer.

Then the phone was off.
It's never been back on since.

We knew right then
something was wrong.

I mean, we were
looking for Jayme ourselves

30 minutes after she left
my daughter's house.

We all got together
and canvassed the neighborhood.

Jayme should have
walked this way.

Stephens: Yeah.

Two streets down,
two streets up,

she would have been home.

We've looked everywhere.

[ Dog barks ]
Stephens:
"Everywhere" ain't the word.

[ Clicking tongue ]

We questioned people,

going door to door
with her pictures.

Nobody's seen her
that morning.

Nobody's seen nothing.

When you don't got one person
saying they've seen her,

you know
something's wrong.

Bowen: It's like she vanished
in thin air.

They took
the police report Friday,

and for, like, six months,
nothing happened.

Bongardt:
Detective Springer, hello.
My name is Steve Bongardt.

I'm a retired FBI agent
and criminal profiler.

I'm working with Joe Berlinger
and Angela Clemente.

If you could give me a call
back, I'd appreciate that.

If the detective's
getting somewhere,

he's not telling me
nothing.

I don't know.
I just go crazy.

'Cause I know no more
than 2 1/2 years ago

when she disappeared
on me.

I think these families,
they're upset that the police

don't seem to be
taking action.

Clemente: Yeah, I agree.

One of the things
that a lot of the moms

are having a problem with
are that law enforcement

has not been communicating
with them.

You know,
it causes a rift

between the families
and the law enforcement.

You know, these are
all daughters of someone.

They're mothers.

[ Sighs ]

I love you.

Clemente: And you are
watching her children?

Bowen:
I have the oldest.

The youngest is with
his other grandparents.

She has two boys?

Two boys. 3 and 6.

3 and 6 years old.
So how are they taking it?

They've diagnosed Jayden

with Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder...
[ Imitates gunfire ]

...and Separation Anxiety.

Jayden: I keep her in my heart
until we get to find her.

I just want her back forever.

Any time we have, like,
a little event or get together

or something,
he's dead center of it.

Berlinger: Like many
of the victim's families,

Jayme's mother has become
a self-taught investigator

and tireless advocate working on
her own to hunt down leads.

She's desperate to reunite
Jayden with his mother

and bring her daughter
back home.

Some of the tips and
the information I have received,

I tried
to put it together.

You know, just names,
stories people's told.

The ones
that made sense.

Dollar Bill's name never came up
in any of her stuff?

Not that I seen.
Okay.

But that Dollar Bill,
I have seen him in this area.

In your neighborhood area?
Mm-hmm.

But never --
Jayme never mentioning him?

No.

Did Jayme ever go to Gallipolis,
or Gallia County?

No.

Do you have any other leads
that we could follow up on?

Robert Cincinnati.

He is our mailman,

and he's one
that really concerns me.

I found out all the girls around
his route that were on drugs,

he was giving them money
to buy the drugs with.

It's just the wrong
picture there.

You know, it's like
he was trying to prey

on the weak, to me.

When it comes to Jayme,
the word in the neighborhood is,

he was literally
obsessed with the girl.

...and he would give her money
and this, that, and the other.

I don't want to say that
she was into prostitution

because I know everyone wants
to believe that she wasn't,

but ain't nobody an idiot.

We're not dummies.

They're only going to give you
free money for so long

before they expect something
in return.

Bowen:
His postal route put him on the
corner of Stewart and Parsons

at 10:45 in the morning.

He delivers my mail every day,
and as he walks out of the yard,

he turns around to lock my gate,
and he talks to Jayme's picture.

It drives me crazy, 'cause I
don't know what he says to her.

I know Jayme.

If somebody had grabbed her,
I know she would

have put up a fight,
and they would have hurt her,

so maybe it's somebody
that knew her

and offered her a ride home.

So did Jayme run into
the mailman that morning?

Did he tell her there
was money at the house?

I mean, you think 1,001 things,
you really do.

I would say the mailman
needs investigated.

to get more information
on Dollar Bill,

but our investigation
takes a new direction

when we discover that
a missing woman's case here

is very similar to some
of the victims in Chillicothe.

We decide to look deeper into
Jayme Bowen's disappearance.

Our first step is to follow up
on Nancy Bowen's tip

about the mailman.

Clemente: How do you know
Jayme Bowen?

Cincinnati:
Her parents are on my route.

And we just struck up a --
you know, a friendship,

wasn't any relationship.

I'm old enough
to be her dad.

I just took care of her.
I gave her money.

She didn't have to do anything
for it, you know.

It -- It was honest money.

Yeah.

When was the last time
you saw Jayme?

The day before
she disappeared,

she came over to my house
with her sister,

and she wanted 50 bucks.

She comes in,
and I'm like,

"Well, there's
a $50 bill on the coffee table."

I said,
"You can take that."

She said,
"Oh, thank you."

She leaves,
and that was it.

Last contact.

I tried to text her
the next day...

Uh, no reply.

I was working that day.

That exact area
is on my route.

I was there during
that "alleged time."

I would have seen her
coming down Parsons Avenue

or going down
Parsons Avenue.

I never saw her.

Were you a suspect?

I don't think I-I was...

The police showed up
at my place of work,

and we arranged for them to come
to my house on my day off.

If I was a suspect,
they'd a been there

before
all that happened.

Did you know
Holly Logan?

Holly Logan?

She was on my old route.

I saw her every day.

She was...a street girl,
she was out there.

But, uh, Jayme, she has
a future, she has a family,

she has children,
she has friends,

and she has a life.

What do you think happened
to Jayme?

To me, the best-case scenario
is that somebody loves her,

couldn't have her,
and took her.

That's the only way
I can look at it.

Did you love her?

Yeah. I did.

I did.

And if somebody out there
has her,

I hope to God I never get
my hands on 'em,

because they will
disappear...

and it will be me
who did it.

Cincinnati says that Jayme
and her sister

showed up that day before,
right?

He gives her $50.

Her sister is there with her
or ostensibly knows

that this transaction
is going on.

Yeah, and I want to explore
what happened the night before.

We really want to
clarify this timeline.

[ Car doors closing ]

Can you start from the day
before she went missing

as much detail
as you can remember?

Stephens: Before she
come up missing.

Me and Jayme was together every
day for almost three months.

Our daily routine
didn't change.

We would get up,
roughly 11:30, 12:00,

we would go get our stuff,
go back, and get high.

That day,
before she went missing,

do you remember
getting high?

Yeah, we got high.

I mean, that's how our day began
right there, you know,

and then we'd just, you know,
stop over at my mom's.

That day, I mean, it was nothing
out of the ordinary.

Do you remember, like, what time
you would have left here

that night before?

Probably around 9:00,
10:00 that night.

We went to my house
and went to bed around 11:00.

So, you didn't go anywhere else?
Nowhere else?

Berlinger:
According to Kay, Jayme Bowen
vanished the next morning

on the way to her mother's house
just a few blocks away.

So, Bobby Cincinnati,
the mailman...
Mm-hmm.

...is there any reason why

you guys might have
gone over there --

his house, the day
before she went missing?

I don't even think
we went there the day

before
she come up missing.

Because two or three days
before, he was like,

"Don't call me no more.
I'm not giving you nothing.

You're not getting
no more money.

You know, go get clean, and then
you can have whatever you want.

Don't call me,
don't bug me."

Clemente: Kay was
the last person that saw her.

She was with Kay that night,
and she left Kay's that morning.

It was Kay's phone
that she had.

The person that's controlling
all the information

that's going to the police,
going to mom, is Kay.

And she has
a substance-abuse problem.

And so there's issues
with memory.

Bobby Cincinnati said they come
over, she says she doesn't.

I'm concerned
with that timeline.

When did she really
go missing?

That narrow window may be
broader than what we think.

Mm-hmm.

[ Horn honks ]

To me, the best-case scenario
is that somebody loves her,

couldn't have her,
and took her.

The best-case scenario?
Berlinger: Yeah.

Is that somebody loved her

and couldn't have her,
so he takes her.
Clemente:
And couldn't have her

so he takes her.
I mean, that's a positive spin

on the tragedy
of a missing girl.

Right.
Doesn't mean he's guilty,

but it's just not
a great answer.

The best answer is,
"It's horrible she's gone."

The very next statement is,
"And I loved her," you know?

Yeah. I did. I did.

And now he scratches.

[ Chuckles ]
Right?

A little nervous anxiety.

And Bobby was, in particular,
obsessed with, um -- with Jayme.

From a behavioral perspective,
you would have to focus on that.

Not to the lack of looking
at anyone else,

but you definitely would
want to look at him...hard.

It'd probably be better
to just do a cold call.

Yeah. I don't want to give him
time to think about it.

Nancy Bowen's house is that way
about six or seven blocks.

Berlinger: Steve and Angela
return to Jayme's neighborhood

to see if they can intercept
Bobby Cincinnati.

Our plan is
to talk to him.

Is his timeline changing,
or is it the same?

Also, if he had something
to do with it,

it gives us a little behavioral
read, you know, on him.

Right.
I mean, we'll see what he says.

Do you see him?
Do you see him?

Anything down that way?

I don't see anything.

Maybe he made us.

Is that him?

When Jayme went missing,

do you remember,
how did you find out?

Now, when you
were calling her,

the day
that she went missing,

was it ringing
and no one was answering,

or was it going --

It was ringing
and going to voicemail?

Or was it just going
to voicemail?

Are you sure the day before
she went missing

that she came over?

When did you find out
that Jayme went missing?

It was the day
after that?

Okay.

One thing I learned
as an FBI agent,

everyone is going to get
a little anxious

when they talk
to an FBI agent.

Right.
But I want to see them relax
as it goes on.

And overall,
his body language relaxed,

and he seemed like
he was being cooperative.

Yeah, his face, muscles,
his arms, he just relaxed.

His look was concerned
and genuine interest in hope

that she was alive.

Yeah.
He's providing information.

He's been forthcoming, and he's
trying to help with a timeline.

Right. You know, a timeline
is our biggest issue with this.

And what he said was consistent
with what he had said before.

I'm not as concerned with him
as I was previously.

I agree with you.
All the cases I've worked,

there's always
a Bobby Cincinnati

that throws
the investigation.

The usual suspect that you get
jammed up with early on,

and you're not looking at where
the real offender is, right?

So, based on the resources
that we have,

I think you rule him out.

Berlinger: As we dig deeper
into Jayme Bowen's case,

we meet up with
Jennifer Kempton,

a former addict
and prostitute

who knows firsthand
how dangerous it can be

for women working the streets
of Columbus.

Kempton:
I cannot tell you how much
searching I did for Jayme Bowen.

Jayme did have a pre-existing
solicitation charge,

which leads me to believe

she's a victim
of sex trafficking.

It has been proven that 92%
of the women

that catch solicitation charges
here in Franklin County

are victims
of human trafficking.

So there's a 92% chance

that she was a victim
of human trafficking.

When I was being trafficked,

I had been sold
on Backpage and Craigslist.

A lot of girls that
are trafficked are trafficked

in the beginning like this,

because you can keep
your girl isolated more.

They're in a hotel room,
and they make

more money per shot
than the street prostitution.

I went through ads for days
and days and days

and even found a girl

that looked almost identical
to Jayme.

It was because of the tattoos
I knew it wasn't her.

I know that she had
an addiction issue.

You know, that is
a control mechanism

into human trafficking,
the drugs.

Traffickers will get
the victim addicted to

or use
a pre-existing addiction

and use that as leverage
to exploit them.

Berlinger: We turn our attention
to the possibility that

Jayme might have been kidnapped
by sex traffickers.

Could that also be
what happened to some

of the victims in Chillicothe?

As far as sex trafficking,
now I know I was sold

on many different occasions

to different dope houses
and dope boys.

I thought I was just relocating,
no, I was actually sold.

Prostitution all ends up
being a forced situation.

Can't nary one prostitute
in this world say at one point

or another
she was not made to do it.

**

When you don't do as you're
told, you can be eliminated.

They consider it
an extermination.

They don't give two shits
about these girls.

They look at the women
as possessions

that are easy come, easy go.

**

Clemente: Do you know anything
about Dollar Bill's

potential involvement
with the missing women?

Dollar Bill may look good
to connect everything to,

but he might just
be a fallboy.

There's too many
missing girls out there.

I absolutely do not think it's
just one individual responsible.

[ Geese honking ]

Estabrook: It is a very
big problem domestically.

One woman could make somewhere

in the range of $800,
$900 per night.

That's just one woman.

We're talking about
$30 million a year

being spent on sex trafficking
just in Columbus, Ohio.

Typically what people think of
is someone being kidnapped,

but the reality is
it's a very common narrative.

A woman is going to be
approached with,

say, free drugs.

That woman then gets hooked,
and then the trafficker

might say something like, "I've
been giving you free drugs,

and I need you to pay this debt
back to me,

so this is how
you're going to do that."

It is very often
that more sly coercion,

and often that involves drugs.

**

Do you know who was
Jayme's drug supplier?

I can sit here
and point out my window

the houses that sell it
and people that do it.

When she disappeared
that day,

we went to every drug dealer
we could think of.

We even had the drug dealers
out looking for Jayme.

A friend of Jayme's,
she was talking to this guy,

and she said
that he starts talking about

how Jayme was sold to his friend
for a drug debt.

He said they took Jayme
for the drug debt that was owed.

We were sent a message
that there was a house

that they were
holding girls hostage

and they're using them
for sex trafficking.

Right in between my house
and my daughter's house,

so I got ahold of Kay
and we came to look.

We started up the steps,

and there was
a really bad smell up here.

It was of something dead.

And there was a mattress
in the floor

and a bar with a chain and stuff
hanging from the ceiling.

And then there was
a piece of paper

that's like,
"Don't snitch."

"I'll cut your hands and feet
off," crazy stuff like that.

We went towards
the basement.

There's a pair of red joggers
laying there

with, like,
turquoise girls underwear.

And, I mean,
my heart did stop.

Jayme was last seen
with red jogging pants on.

I went down,
looked at them,

they wasn't
what she was wearing.

It was a relief, but you want
to find something.

You want to find her --
Jayme.

Bowen: I had no idea
about any of this stuff.

There is human trafficking
here.

Come to find out
that's Columbus'

dirtiest little secret.

And, I mean, it just opened
my eyes to a whole new world.

Clemente: Do you think
it's possible that Jayme Bowen

is a victim
of sex trafficking?

If it's been years
of no contact with family,

I think that's a bad sign.

The worst thought, of course,
is that she has died.

If she hasn't died,
it is possible

that she was transported to
another county, another state.

There clearly are networks
of people that work together

to transport women.

Kempton: I think that's
that really, really young girl.

I do want to talk to her.

I see her every time

I'm out here,

and it breaks my heart.

I was missing for a few years,
according to my family,

but I was right here.

I wish somebody would have seen
the terror in my eyes.

I wish somebody would have
seen the misery in my soul

and reached out to me.

So I have to be that
for somebody else.

Where'd she go?
I don't know.

Did she just
get picked up?

Maybe.

[ Sighs ]

There she is.
Turn and go in the alley.

Pull up right beside
this building.

Yeah.

You want something

I'm Jennifer.
I used to be out here, too.

The card in there
has my phone number

if you're ready
to get out.

We have a house, and we help you
get into, like, a detox.

All right, baby, I ain't trying
to waste your time.

Get your money.

It's scary when you've
been on these very streets

and been kicked out
of moving cars,

guns to the back
of your head,

threatened to be put
in a dumpster.

The psychological chains
of enslavement that

are not visible to the naked eye
are the drugs,

the threats of violence,
the manipulation.

Berlinger:
Seeing the power sex traffickers

hold over their
drug-addicted victims,

we have to wonder,
is this the common thread

between the women
who went missing in Columbus

and Chillicothe?

Kempton:
This is happening everywhere.

Everywhere there's a truck stop,
everywhere there is a motel,

everywhere there's the Internet,
this is happening.

My original trafficker,
he thought he was losing

his grip on me,
so he tattooed property

of his name
above my vagina.

What that meant is,
"If you go anywhere else,

we'll put you in a dumpster."

Getting my cover-up
really empowered me,

so I started to help
other victims

My trafficker
is a police officer

who's still working today.

He did a really good job
of disgracing my name

and who I was,
based on my addictions

and all that,
but I was an addict

because of the fact
that he forced me to use drugs.

I decided that I didn't
want to prosecute,

because I didn't have
anybody to talk to.

Like, who am I
supposed to go to

when my trafficker's
a police officer?

You're only as sick
as your secrets.

All of my clients
were police officers,

firefighters, pastors, lawyers.

Behind closed doors, I was being
trafficked to all of these men

who were the very ones
who were supposed to protect me.

It's very common.

I was actually offered
to get out of charges

if I, you know,
tricked with a police officer

in the back of a cruiser.

Just recently in the area
I was trafficked in,

three officers
were removed from duty

for solicitation
of prostitution.

It's very real.

Reporter: In December,
a woman with a history

of solicitation charges
told police

that an unknown police officer
paid her for sex.

And a University of Toledo study

indicates he would be far
from alone.

Almost half of 43 Ohio
trafficking victims surveyed

said they had been sold
to law enforcement officers,

more than any other profession.

Cases like this highlight
a disturbing abuse of power.

Berlinger: Let's just put all
the pieces together.

So, we've got
eight victims.

They all had
an addiction problem.

And most of them were involved
in the sex trade, right?

We've ruled out
the serial killer.

And we don't see
any Dollar Bill connection

to Holly or Jayme, at least.
-Right.

The sex trafficking,
what we do know is that

women in Columbus
that are telling us

about, you know, being
trafficked by law enforcement,

so who's protecting
the victims?

You know,
there could be an issue

that we need
to start looking into.

I think police corruption
is something

that could be at play here.

So I think it's important
that we spend some time

and resources on that.

accounts of sex trafficking

and official misconduct,

could some combination
of these factors

have played a part
in the disappearances

and deaths of eight young women
in Southern Ohio?
