and sit in front of it,

feeling its all-consuming heat

as the bodies of his victims
were incinerated.

People knew about the furnace.

Someone had to build it for him.

Someone had to show him
how to use it.

Our parents installed
Endicott's cameras,

but like the contractors
that built Holmes's furnace,

they didn't know
the system's true purpose.

Endicott not only
wanted to remember

every moment of preying
on his victims...

...but he was brazen
enough to think

no one would ever
find his archives.

And without
the Reverend's vanity...

I'm not sure we ever
would have been able

to piece this together.

Lucas and I watched our parents
prematurely decline

over our teenage years.

Their minds, memories,
and bodies failing them

as an undiagnosable disease

the people you love

their proximity to Endicott

Lucas' gut instinct led him

in believing he was
the most important character

in the story.

That he was the only person
Endicott had been targeting.

just because it leads
to the truth.

to be remembered as a liar.

are good people in Larkin.

Um, people would have figured it
out eventually,

done what I had done.

I needed Lucas

for falling down
his own rabbit hole.

If I hadn't answered Lucas,

his story, our story,

would have ended
very differently.

But that's the thing

But after uncovering the truth

of what happened to my family,

I'm still haunted by something.
