Dear marine corps family, on behalf of the Navy

and Marine corps, my very sincere condolences

on the loss of your brother Corporal Samuel Quincy

from injuries sustained during Operation Enduring Freedom

in Afghanistan.

All I can say is, mam, that in order for the enslaved

to gain freedom free men must give their lives willingly.

And, that's exactly what your brother did.

I can honestly say that if it weren't for this kind

and big hearted man, I would've died

many of times over.

Words can't explain the tremendous good

that he's done for me in my life.

"into his mother's womb to be born."

And, Jesus answered, "I can tell you the truth

"unless he's born of water and of spirit.

"Flesh gives birth to flesh, but spirit gives birth

"You should not be surprised at my saying

"you must be born again."

So come today, brothers and sisters,

lay down the past.

The terrains pretty rough and all,

we can't use robots up there, so everything's done by hand.

- JJ: That's living dangerously, son.

- TYLER: The most stressful job in the world.

- JJ: What kind of training do you get?

IEDs a big bomb.

- TYLER: Yeah improvised explosive device,

homemade bomb.

You trying to figure this thing out like it's

a math problem, but you actually forget how dangerous

and terrifying it all it.

I mean you could be working with a rigged artillery shell

or farming chemicals wired to a battery or blasting cap,

but it saves lives.

- JJ: And, they train you?

- TYLER: No one chooses it.

You're signed up for bomb clearance duty.

After graduation, I dropped out of technical school

two credits shy of an engineering degree.

I know it's bad, right.

When I joined the marines, it was pretty much

a no brainer that I'd be assigned to the EOD.

- JJ: That's where you met Quincy.

He was always smart enough to pull us out

of any dangerous situation, one after another.

for the loss that he is experiencing right now.
