we're headed to karosta cietums, Which is a military prison,

and it was in operation from 1900 till about the 1990s.

the prison was also used For anyone else captured

and thought to have been a spy During the soviet reign.

The prison was the site Of brutal torture and death,

And many people believe That it is hell on earth,

And people believe that This place is haunted.

All right. If my calculations Are correct, that's it.

legend says in 1944,

a young man from liepaja Was imprisoned here

right before He was to be married.

his young fiancée came To the prison, looking for him.

she brought with her some vodka And got the guards drunk

and was able to steal the keys.

she found out that he was In cell 18 and went to it.

when she opened the door to That cell, she found it empty.

right then, she knew her fiancé Had already been executed.

she was so grief-stricken

that she hanged herself In the same cell.

Well, we're definitely Gonna give it our best.

That we were told here About the activity.

At the same time, this prison Was kept pretty much a secret

For years and years.

No one discussed What went on here.

So I think the team certainly Has an opportunity

To not only check out The stories we were told,

But see if there are Some other things going on

Here in the prison.

So we're gonna concentrate a lot Of our efforts on that floor.

First floor, this is the one That the dog was mentioned in.

So we're seeing if we can Catch that, as well.

And now get to do one Of their most haunted landmarks.

I, too, had thought I'd seen This dark figure standing there.

but there was nothing there.

angela: I can't see anything.

okay, so, this is the room where A guy's trying to take a nap.

something violently Shoves him out of the bed.

Oh, my god. He wakes up, Comes running out.

There's no one In the outer office.

There's no one nearby In the hallway.

It's crazy. Yeah.

That's what I heard. It almost sounded like a person.

At one point, I'm listening Through my headphones,

The audio amplifiers.

I hear what I believe Is angela whispering.

Robb, that's crazy.

The advantage, again, Of the headphones

Is it records everything I'm hearing.

So whatever that voice was, It should be on there.

Now I'm getting cold. I'm getting chills.

Robb, you're kidding me. No.

The friggin' chills.

Angela: yeah. I'm seeing, like, shadow.

There was what looked like A human figure standing there.

I don't know If I'm losing it. I know.

I can see you standing Right there. What do you want?

Angela and I were investigating In the officers' quarters.

Robb: do you see anything Center case to the right?

Angela: yeah.

What do you see? Like, shadow.

Yeah.

There was what looked like A human figure standing there.

I mean, I'm dumbfounded.

I'm scared to take my eyes Off it

'cause I think It's gonna disappear.

Can you make a sound Near one of the books?

Just move one of the books, If you can.

You want us To leave this room,

You have to show yourself To us.

I don't see it now.

I don't either. I was just gonna say that.

Angela: I personally have never Seen anything like that.

It was pretty crazy For us to both see that.

And it was also very surreal.

I couldn't see anything On the camera,

But when I put the camera down, Out of the corner of my eye,

I saw-- but I saw it At the bottom.

Robb: we aim the camera at it, Will it pick it up?

I don't know.

Because it's shooting I.R. Light,

So it may not be able to pick up This kind of dark mass shadow.

I sure hope it did.

That's one of the weirder things I've ever seen.

I don't know What it could have been.

Barry: dustin and I come up Onto the second floor.

we had a lot of equipment That we needed to get running.

We've got, what, Two full-spectrums.

Got thermal, minidv.

If anything does move by it, It'll definitely show up.

Dustin: we were just coming down The hallway, getting started,

And just over my left shoulder, I heard a humming sound.

I looked at barry To see if for some reason

He was humming a tune, But he wasn't.

To me, that's the direction It was coming from.

If anything, It's not in the hallway.

Starting evp session Just after hearing a hum.

Barry: the 360 mike Has four onboard mikes.

This gives me The ability to record

And when I play this recording Through the software

In the ghi computer,

I am able to tell the direction That it comes from.

And I heard that. Hmm.

There was a lot of things That seemed to be going on

That sounded like footsteps.

Movements seemed to going on.

What I'm gonna do, dustin, I'm gonna take a nip down

And grab one of the thermometers Just to make sure that--

Something moved past My hand there

As I was setting that down.

What did it feel like?

Like a breeze. Oh, there's it there.

[ chuckles ]

Must be straight outside.

Oh, yeah, there's a hole Right in the wall.

I'm gonna Get the thermometer now,

Just to check in case It's just a trick.

Maybe the paint Or something.

The one time Barry ran downstairs

To get a temperature gun,

We just wanted to gauge the heat That was coming off

The old radiators That are up here.

He was coming around the corner Into the cell,

And I'm standing there Watching him.

[ indistinct noise ]

And I hear very clearly A woman's voice.

He did, as well.

What the hell Were we hearing?

Oh, man, I got chills now. That was, like, clear as day.

It's like This place is alive.

all right, joe, So this is the office.

Joe: brandy and I were sent Into the officers' quarters.

Robb and angela had some Activity happen in there,

And they wanted to see if We could get the same results.

I'm getting chills. Are you?

I mean, I'm getting, like, Hair-standing-on-end chills.

So we went in, And right away I got this chill

that I couldn't explain.

even though it was cold in here, It was a little bit different.

I could feel the hairs On my neck standing up.

dustin: so, this captain's Over there, washing his hands,

getting a glass of water And turns around to see her.

And she's Making her way in.

Barry: dustin and I come up Onto the second floor

Into the washroom,

Where this female entity was Seen approaching the captain.

If you just turn around

And you see a white, You know, woman

Sitting there For the first time,

It probably wouldn't be All that frightening.

But if you're hearing This other stuff go on,

It's gonna be Scary as hell.

Plus if she's Already annoyed,

The atmosphere that it must be Generating would be-- Yeah.

dustin: yeah.

but I don't know If it's downstairs

Or if it's the one we closed At the end of the hall.

I think we better check Now just to make sure.

Dustin: the one time, I heard a humming sound

That was very distinct, Very clear.

Definitely Sent my pulse racing.

It was down here.

Dude. Barry: what?

dustin: yeah.

throughout our time On the second floor,

barry and I kept hearing cell Doors creaking open and closed.

These jeans aren't baggy

To the point Where they catch themselves.

Oh, that was weird, man.

And I thought for sure I was kind of caught up

On some cables or something,

And sure enough, There was nothing there.

I didn't have any trouble Moving my feet.

I didn't feel like I couldn't move. Yeah.

But it felt like something Was pulling my pant leg.

There was a report That a woman who was here

Felt like she couldn't move Her legs, so it was very odd,

And it definitely was, you know, Just another contributing factor

To everything that was going on Here tonight.

brandy: Evp session, rob and brandy

in one of the back cells Of the first level.

you know, it seems like Pretty much everyone else

has had some type Of personal experience here.

I'm really hoping That I actually have mine.

Robb: curious about you.

Robb, you're standing closer To the window than I am.

Do you feel, like, Any significant drafts

Okay, 'cause I feel On my right side--

I can feel...A pretty heavy Draft hitting me.

it was definitely noticeably Colder next to her right side.

it's tough to know what to make Of something like that.

Okay, I just felt, Like, a big,

Like, gush of air Towards my face.

Okay, I just saw something Down to my left, to your right,

Like a dark mass.

So it looks like our friend has joined us.

Brandy: When you're in a dark room,

You don't think You can see anything,

But when you start seeing dark

That's even darker Than the darkness,

You know that something's up.

And I was seeing movement, Which is crazy.

I'm still feeling That breeze,

But now it feels more like A pulsating coolness.

Joe: barry and I decided To go through the attic.

with us, We brought along the 360 mike

and the full-spectrum camera.

And barry's strategy Was fast and furious.

Take lots of pictures one area,

Move to another spot, And do the same.

Barry: we can fire off The full-spectrum camera

With the hand-held remote,

And the reason we kept taking Our shots in that fast rotation,

I kept moving From location to location,

Was to make sure that we try And cover the attic space

As best as possible and to try And capture that movement

of the entity moving away From us.

I hear noises In front of me to my right.

Barry: 10 more shots, joe.

There is no more need To hide up here.

Oh, I thought I heard somebody Say "Get out of here."

And it was very faint, But I heard it to my right,

That was pretty strange.

Hopefully, We caught that on 360.

I could have swore I saw Something sway back and forth.

So I kept taking pictures, And I think we caught something,

But we're gonna have to be sure

And check All the photos thoroughly.

And there was ice On the inside of the wall.

and he has said that That is exactly what

him and barry had experienced Earlier in the night.

was to try and provoke That russian mind-set

By stirring up Echoes of paranoia

From the great cold war.

Continue to go through them

And see if there's anything That you recognize.

What happened To lenin, stalin?

Sounded like a door, One of the prison doors.

As we were starting To conclude our evp session,

It sounded as if there was one Of the cell doors had slammed,

And, so, we headed off Immediately to check.

Barry: That's fine. Fine.

Open. Open.

Nope.

Dustin: It's all good here.

We weren't able to trace

Where the noise of that Cell door was coming from.

Barry. Ooh!

And that is not an easy task.

Beyond places we had heard Stories about.

So I want to make sure That the team goes through

Every piece of footage

To make sure that if there was Evidence here this evening,

We get all of it.

Robb: during the investigation, Right, I keep thinking,

"Man, these personal Experiences and Stuff's incredible."

I think this whole place Was pretty cool.

Well, we got A pretty amazing evp,

And I think it will Explain a lot.

There's a whole thing with the Universal-consciousness theory

And we heard the disembodied Female voice.

And it goes off a little bit, And then it goes on again.

that would have caused that To spike like that either.

Okay. And lastly, what we have

Was taken in the washroom On the second floor.

You distinctly hear the doors Going back and forward.

Yeah, it definitely Sounds like the doors.

Well, you had the camera On all of them, right? That's right, I had.

Now, the dvr system's telling Us, no, the doors are still.

[ creaking]

And there's just no movement Of the doors?

There's not-- not an inch Of a movement on them.

We all had big Personal experiences.

I mean, angela and I Were sitting there,

Staring at a dark mass

That seemed to just be Looking back at us.

It even kind of leaned A little bit.

You know, Did we capture any of that? Nothing.

unfortunately, we didn't catch Any visual evidence.

I mean, look, this is probably One of the more active locations

We've ever been to.

Yeah, it pretty much Had everything.

We had disembodied voices. We obviously caught evps.

All right, um, well, angela,

We know you will not be Rejoining the team after this.

As you know, I'm engaged now,

So I'm gonna be moving on to get Married and start my family.

We have results from many areas Of the prison.

One of the stories You had told us

Was about a woman who's walking Through this hallway,

And it felt as if she was unable To move her feet.

I can relate to that.

I was just coming out of The washroom area with barry,

And it felt as if somebody Was holding down my feet,

As if I got tangled With something.

I checked to see where our cable Wires were for our cameras,

And sure enough, Nothing's there.

So what I want to do Is I want to show the video.

All right.

So, you can see myself And barry there.

We're just heading Down the hallway.

You can see our cameraman Following us.

Yeah.

I stop. Yeah.

I try to take Like three or four steps,

And it felt like, All of a sudden, I was walking,

You know, like I was in water Or something.

There was actually Another point,

In the officers' quarters, where Joe, one of our investigators,

Felt as if somebody Had tapped his leg.

right.

During our setup, Robb was in the stairwell

At the end of this hallway.

And he had seen a figure

Standing at the top Of the stairs,

And that was followed up

Because we were doing A thermal sweep.

yeah, 'cause I turned quick.

I was like, "I thought I saw Somebody standing there."

that's very odd.

He saw me looking.

I said, "I thought somebody Was just standing there."

And he had told me That he had seen the same thing.

I was up here On the second floor,

And I wanted to follow up On these shadows

That robb and I Had both seen there. Yeah, yeah.

So I put the emf detector down, And I put our camera on

So I was recording whatever Was gonna be happening.

So what you're gonna see Is the detector

Set up in front of the camera, On top of this stairwell.

[ buzzing]

[ buzzing stops]

[ buzzing resumes]

Now, this meter has been sitting There almost a full hour...

Mm-hmm.

...Without so much As a fluctuation.

And then, Out of nowhere, we--

We get this substantial Little hit.

By itself, Not enough to say,

"Okay, there's something Paranormal going on here." Mm-hmm.

The fact that we both Saw shadows within that area--

exactly. That's what we try to do.

we try to build the case On pieces of evidence

that work with each other.

obviously, in this place,

you had mentioned to us The story of the doors--

the cell doors being opened And closed by themselves.

So what we did Is we took our cameras,

And we put them in the hallway

So that we could see All these doors... Yeah.
