Original subtitles

In the previous set of tutorials, we have learned part modeling, assembly and drafting.

From this tutorial, we will start sheet metal.

At first we will close this current document, click on close here, then click on start, mechanical

design, generative sheet metal design.

Then click on ok.

Now in this tutorial, we will learn sheet metal parameters, then wall and wall on edge.

Right now wall and wall on edge is not active because at first we will have to start sheet

metal using this sheet metal parameters.

Click on the sheet metal parameters.

Now in this sheet metal parameters, you will have to define thickness of your sheet.

I will keep this 2 mm as it is.

Then here you will have to define the default bend radius.

This is an internal radius.

Then click on this bend extremities.

Now here right now we will keep this minimum width no relief as it is.

There are some more options are there that we will cover later in the current tutorial.

Then click on this bend allowance.

Here you can define your k factor for your design.

If you want to edit this current k factor, then right click on it and click on edit.

And from here you can change the value.

I will keep this value as it is.

Then click on ok.

Here a new feature is added called sheet metal parameters.

By double clicking on this, you can change the existing parameters.

Now here all the sheet metal tools got activated.

At first we will create one wall.

Click on wall.

Then you need to define the profile.

You can use the existing one or you can create new.

We will create new profile.

To create new profile, click here on sketch symbol.

Then select the plane.

I want to create profile on this horizontal plane.

Then create your profile.

We will create one rectangle from center.

Center rectangle.

Give the center point.

Give the other point.

Using constraint, you can define the parameters.

Then click on exit workbench.

Now it will take the thickness of 2 mm that we have defined in sheet metal parameters.

Then if you want to change the direction of the thickness,

then you can change it by clicking here on inward material side.

Then if you want to keep your sketch at the center and add thickness half on either side,

then for that you will have to click here on sketch at middle position.

So in that case, your sketch will be at the center and half thickness will be added on either side.

Suppose I will take this one, sketch at extreme position.

That is in one direction.

Click on ok.

Then zoom fit, fit all in.

Now here one base plate is created.

Then next is wall on edge.

Click on wall on edge.

Then you will have to select one edge.

Suppose I will take this top edge.

So whichever edge you select in that direction, your flange will be added.

And if you want to reverse the direction of the flange, by clicking on this reverse position,

you can reverse the direction of the flange.

Then here in height, you can define the height.

Suppose I want 120 height.

Then you can define logic for height from here.

It is length type.

Click on it.

There are four type of length.

First is from bottom to top.

Second is from inside of the thickness to the top.

Third is from the start of the bend to the top.

And fourth is from the apparent intersection of both the sides to the top.

Suppose I will choose this first option that is from bottom to the top.

So my height of 120 will be from the bottom surface of this sheet to the top of this surface.

Then in height, if you click on this option here, you can also define the height up to

some plane or surface.

If you click on it, then you will have to select some plane or surface up to which you

want to create this flange.

So right now I don't want to create up to some object.

So again, I will choose this height.

The next will be angle.

Here you can define the desired angle.

Suppose I want it to be 60 degree.

So here, angle of 60 is defined.

I will choose this right view.

So here, this angle of 60 degrees defined.

Suppose I want it to be in 120 degree.

So here, angle of 120 is defined.

And for angle also, options are available.

If you click on this arrow, here is orientation plane.

If you click on it, then you can choose any plane or surface to define the angle.

Suppose right now I want to define angle manually.

And I will keep the angle of 90 degree.

Now the thickness is added outside your current length.

Suppose I want to add this thickness within this length.

And for that, you will have to click on this invert material side.

So that your thickness will be added within your length.

So using this invert material side, you can send the thickness outside or bring it inside.

Then this clearance mode option is there.

Right now it is no clearance.

Suppose I want to define some clearance.

Then click on this arrow here.

And suppose first option, I will take mono directional.

And I will define here clearance of 10.

And click outside.

Now here, this 10 distance will be distance from this surface up to this end of this.

Existing plate.

And then one more is bidirectional.

Now in this case, in bidirectional clearance mode, the creator formulas link the wall position

which sheet metal parameters bend value.

If you change the sheet metal parameter bend value, the created wall position will change.

That means it will link it to the bend value that we defined in this sheet metal parameter.

Right now we will click on this yes option.

So here you can see that it has automatically taken that for value here.

But suppose if you want to place different value here, then in that case, suppose we

will again take this bidirectional.

And if you want to change the value, then you will have to say no here.

Click on no.

And in that case, you can change the value.

If I change this value, your internal radius will change.

In this way, you can use this bidirectional.

Suppose I want to keep this no clearance as it is.

Then from here, you can control whether you want the bend or not.

If we remove this, bend will not be applied.

And if we tick on it, bend will be applied.

In this four radius has been taken automatically from the sheet metal parameter.

Then one more option is extremities.

Click on it.

Here you can set left side limit and right side limit.

If you orbit it, then here you can give limiting element like a plane or any surface.

Suppose I will click here for left limit and I will choose this vertical plane.

So your wall will be created up to this plane.

It is created up to this plane.

So in this way, you can limit the wall by giving some reference element.

And if you want to give further some distance, then you can specify the distance here also.

From this reference, I want it to be outside by 10 distance.

So you can specify distance here and click outside.

So 10 distance is added to the existing value.

So this is shifted by 10 distance.

And if you want to go, I will again take this front view.

So here it has been gone ahead by distance of 10 from this reference plane.

And if you want to go on the other side, then you will have to specify negative sign before

you have a value and click outside.

So it will be going on other side if you give negative value.

And if you don't want to specify reference of this plane and if you want to specify distance

from this corner, then right click on this plane and click on clear selection.

So it will take that distance from this corner.

So right now we are given negative 10.

Therefore it is going inside.

Same way it can be specified on other side also.

Suppose if you want to change on this right side, then the distance you will have to specify

here.

Here also we will give distance of 10.

Click outside.

So 10 is added extra.

And if you want to bring it inside, specify negative sign before it.

So it will go inside the plate.

So in this way you can specify the offset distance and limit reference if required.

Then here one more option is there that is sketch based that we will see immediately.

So for this we will say okay.

Now in this way this is created.

Then one more thing is there.

Now this connectivity.

Now in sheet metal parameters, we are defined here minimum with no relief.

Therefore there is no gap and immediately it has been created.

So here you can define different shapes by clicking here.

Suppose if you choose this square relief, then here you will have to define the distance.

This horizontal distance is L1 and this distance is L2.

So here L1 is 1 and L2 is 2.

Click on okay.

So here a rectangular shape will be defined.

If you specify the same distance, same thickness then it will be square.

You can specify it as a round relief.

Then in that case you will have to define this gap L1 and the diameter L2 and click on okay.

So it will be circular.

The next is linear.

So it will be defined with straight line.

For that you don't need to define any parameter.

So it has been connected by straight line.

The next is tangent.

So it will be connected with smooth curves.

Okay.

So it has been connected with smooth curves.

The next is maximum.

Okay.

So it will maintain that bend outside also.

Outside this cut.

In this close and flat is not applicable here.

You will see in other situation.

Suppose we will keep this minimum with no relief as it is.

Okay.

Then one more option is sketch based.

So again click on this wall on edge.

Then click here on automatic and select this sketch base.

And here you will have to create one profile.

Before that you will have to select one line.

If you select this line then you will have to create profile on the upper side.

And if you want to create profile on the bottom side then you will have to select bottom

line.

I want to create profile on the upper side.

Therefore I will select this upper edge and click on sketch.

And select this plane.

Select this surface.

Zoom fit and create your desired shape.

Suppose I will create one rectangle.

Then I will coincidence with upper edge.

Press control and select multiple edges.

Then apply the constraint from here.

And select coincidence.

And using constraint you can define your desired dimensions.

Then I want here one more shape.

I will draw one more rectangle here.

Then I want to trim.

Now this profile needs to be a single profile and it should be close one.

Therefore I will trim the unwanted object by clicking on this trick trim.

I will double click it so that I can use these two multiple times.

And I will remove this and press escape.

Then click on exit workbench.

So here wall on edges is created as per our sketch.

And other options are same that we have seen previously.

Click on okay.

So in this way you can create wall on edge by sketching also.

You can also create wall on edge by selecting multiple edges.

Click on wall on edge.

Then I will select this bottom edge.

Now I don't want this sketch base.

So I will click here and select this automatic.

And I want it in reverse direction.

So click on this reverse position.

And I want the height to be 50.

Click outside.

Now this is the first edge.

I want this edge also.

I will select this edge also.

So you can select, you can create on multiple edges.

Then here it is taking that gap to remove this gap.

Click on this extremities and make this offset distance to be 0.

So it will be connected.

And here if you want to specify some gap, then you can specify that gap value here.

Suppose I want gap of one.

Click outside.

So gap of one is created.

And click on okay.

So in this way you can define wall on edge for multiple edges also.

So that's all.

Thanks for watching.

We will stop here.
