of gold to find.

Twenty nine
year old Parker Schnabel

is locked in a battle

for a $200,000,000
fortune in gold.

But his opponent,

the Dominion Creek claim,
is winning.

Dominion is a pain in the ass

because we're
fighting a lot of frost.

We can't control the weather,
nor can we control the ground.

Six weeks
into the season,

he's found
just 290 ounces.

So right now,
basically, we have--

We don't have any
wash plants running uh...

makes me nervous
when we have no
plants making money.

Two weeks ago,
Parker made the call

to shut down his only
running wash plant, Roxanne,

in the long cut,

when the permafrost
made it too difficult to dig.

Now, after a warm
stretch of weather,

the crew's on the brink
of firing back up.

We've given
this ground

a little bit of time
to thaw out,

and it's looking
a lot better here.

We've got some thaw.

We've also got
ourselves a pay pile.

We've got a lot
of work ahead of us,

but we're finally heading
in the right direction.

In addition
to the long cut,

Parker is hedging his bets,

and opening up ground
in the bridge cut as well.

We also have
the bridge cut.

There's a lot of waste
still left in it.

And-- And frost.

The stripping crew
is in there trying
g to get it sorted out.

But by working both
these cuts at the same time,

Parker now faces
a new problem.

We can't start
sluicing it,

and we're behind

because we've got
a big project that's

like a really critical
part of the process.

You have to get the water
drained somehow.

So I've got people
trying to lower a drain

that cranks the bridge cut
with rocks in

so that the water
should flow out of the cut.

So we will see

Before wash plant,
Roxanne can fire up

and run pay
from the long cut

Parker's crew need to dig
the current ditch

fifteen feet deeper

from Roxanne's
tailings pond

Two miles downstream

along the edge
of the bridge cut

where his crew
is stripping ground

that's already thawing
into the ditch.

When Roxanne starts sluicing,
the deeper ditch should cope

with the added water
from the plant

and the meltwater
from the bridge cut

If it's not deep enough,

the extra water will
overwhelm the bridge cut,

flooding it
and shutting it down.

We're swinging
in tandem,

trying to get this ditch

lowered to the point
where Roxanne can fire up.

And we'll be back
to making money.

are responsible for digging
the drainage ditch deeper.

But this thing
was dropping.

It's got no power,

so it's not pulling the bucket
through the ground very well.

So I suspect
it's got weak injectors,

so we'll have to put
a set of injectors in it.

There's always
a chance you're wrong.

And then you
spend the money,
it doesn't fix it.

But we get thrown
the curveballs

and we got to
deal with them.

The fuel
injectors deliver diesel
into the engine,

regulating how much fuel
enters the combustion chamber.

Jordan suspects
the 390 's injectors
are worn out,

reducing the flow of fuel
into the engine.

And power in the excavators
bucket arm.

I'm just
going to start doing
the injectors here,

so I'm just taking
this cover off.

Jordan's
simple fix install new

fuel injectors
at a cost of $12,000.

There ain't nothing about
this racket that's cheap.

Big iron, big money.

No other plants running,

on a solo mission.

The plan is to get
this all stripped down to pay

and get this sluiced out.

Our percentile
was going to get
zero resources

when I was coming
down here at Ken's.

got zero resources,

but I expected
a little bit more.

Parker's
charged Damien with opening
an eight acre cut

and wants the final
three acres

of overburden removed
by the end of the week.

Damien's working
double duty,

he rips overburden
in the dozer and piles it up.

Then jumps
into an excavator

and feeds the waste
onto a conveyor

that carries it out of the cut
to a waste pile.

The conveyor,

it's so bloody efficient.

Every bedrock has gone

Parker must have
some trust in me

to leave me down here
by myself.

Originally, I came up
with my wife to the Yukon,

and both of us were
working here at Parkers.

We had a baby
a few years ago,

can't work now,

and spend it with my family
