would be an unusual occurrence.

In South Florida, it wasn't.

the Miramar Police Department
was investigating reports of

two missing girls,

and Sharon Anderson.

The night before, they had been
seen at Casey's Nickelodeon,

a guy known as Butch Casey.

My mom called me
on Sunday morning.

come home last night."

if she had a date with my mom,
she made that date.

they left together.

to the home

When he gets to the house,

'cause he can hear music

he can see through the window.

bodies lying on the floor.

On June 27, 1994,

I was the Deputy
Chief of Police.

This is the route
I took down 33rd Street

to get to Miramar Isles

and then we'll come up
to scene of the triple homicide.

When I first arrived,
all those palm trees

were all there,
and there's a, uh, a fence here

that's probably six feet tall,

so it'd be really easy
for someone

to approach this house
with no one knowing.

When I pulled up,

there was police cars
everywhere.

detectives at the front door.

MURPHY: When investigators
arrive at the house,

one of the things they see
is a blue T-shirt

lying on the ground.

And on that shirt were the words

Consolidated Electric Supply.

but just to be on the safe side,

you're gonna pick that up
as evidence.

The front door was locked.

It appeared that all the windows
were closed and locked,

but they found the back
sliding glass door unlocked.

FEBRO:
The house backed up

to a lake,
and then there were a bunch

of finger canals, and a lot
of people lived on the canals.

It's a very nice neighborhood.

Very private, very quiet.

Very little crime in that area.

MURPHY:
There is no signs

whatsoever of forced entry
into this house.

I was aghast

when I first
walked in the house.

There was a lot of furniture
pushed aside.

Looked like some burglars came
in and had ransacked the house

The entire house,
other than maybe the bedrooms,

were all marble tile floors,
and there was blood drippings

And there was a shoe print...

The three victims,

two very young women
in their early 20s

And that's, in my opinion,

pretty symbolic.

they didn't like,

are located on crime scenes.

and it was obvious that he had

in this triple murder,

and when I answered, she asked

It just felt like it

This was, like, early '90s,

was just getting on the scene
for music videos.

And she was picked out
of a line of thousands

to star opposite

After she did the video,
she had figured out

that "This is the world
that I want to be in."

a lot of dreams and hopes.

they were good friends.

But I didn't know
who Butch Casey was.

Butch Casey was described

as a playboy.

He owned Casey's Nickelodeon.

They were known for their
ladies' nights, drink specials.

He was well off,
he drove a Mercedes-Benz.

At the nightclub,
he knew a lot of people

and would often
bring them back to his house.

MURPHY:
We know that Butch moved
from Buffalo, New York,

to Miramar, Florida,
the Southern Florida area,

to Miramar, Florida,
the Southern Florida area,

in the 1980s.

he owned a nightclub up there.

He comes to Miramar and opens up
Casey's Nickelodeon club,

and it's very successful.

Butch had several
run-ins with the law

both before and after
his arrival to Miami.

And he had a prior arrest
for narcotics violations.

The '70s and the '80s
is when the drug culture

really started
hitting South Florida.

It's not unusual
for there to be drug activity

in a lot of the nightclubs.

So, was Casey's Nickelodeon

FEBRO:
The detectives located
neighbor Gary Foy,

who had seen
something suspicious

on the date of the murder.

As he left his house, he noticed

that Butch Casey's
black Mercedes-Benz

was leaving the neighborhood.

He did not see Butch in the car,

but he saw two young males.

MURPHY:
It's a great indicator that

there are at least
two people involved.

So, our initial theory here...

...is that Butch
and the two ladies

came back to Butch's house.

They fell asleep.

Two assailants entered
the house from the back

through an unlocked door.

They start rummaging
through the house,

presumably looking
for things of value.

Jewelry, cash, drugs.

Butch hears this.

He gets up and encounters
the two assailants.

A tussle ensues.

One of the assailants shoots
and kills Butch Casey.

The two ladies hear this,
they come out to investigate.

And now the assailants
take control of them

and eventually kill them
as well.

In their haste
to get out of the house,

stepped in blood,
left a bloody shoe print,

and dropped their blue T-shirt
on the ground

as they make their escape.

But the investigators have
no idea who they're looking for.

There are still

pieces of evidence
that have been collected

As they're waiting
for pending evidence results--

DNA, fingerprints--

investigators dug into

the crime scene.

The investigators stumbled upon
what appeared to be

a collection of audiotapes,

some of which were conversations

that were recorded
between Butch and a woman.

The way it sounds like

these audio recordings
were done secretly.

And it was, short of a better
word, horrific to listen to it.

It causes my blood to boil.

MURPHY:
Makes you wonder,

why does Butch Casey
have those tapes?

There's been three murders.

You're looking
for potential leads anywhere

you can find them.

When they were processing
the crime scene,

discovered in Butch's house.

of Butch and a woman
who was fighting.

And this recording was
just days before the murder.

It sounds like it was Butch

his ex-girlfriend

who knows?

So, who is this woman on

While investigating
Butch's personal life,

the detectives run across

a domestic violence

between Butch and his
ex-girlfriend Kristal Fisher.

Any detective would look into,

when a husband is murdered
or a wife is murdered,

usually look to the spouse
or the girlfriend.

So that was definitely
a possibility,

that it-- she could have been
involved in these murders.

MURPHY:
During this conversation,

she's in a very submissive role.

But once she's left,
she may become bitter.

Could she be so upset

that she wants to-- some type
of retaliation against him?

Because nobody
should talk to her like that.

Now, this introduces
another theory.

Did Kristal decide,

"I'm not taking that
from anybody,

I'm gonna get him back,"
and she decides

to hire someone
to kill Butch Casey?

Maybe through the contacts
she met at the bar,

there were two guys who were
willing to commit a murder

for her, for money.

She surely knows

is rarely locked.

The hit men got in the house,
shoot Butch.

Sharon and Marie
are potential witnesses.

So they kill both ladies.

They stage it to look like
a robbery gone bad.

Maybe they decided
their payment was gonna be

and they make their escape.

While Kristal Fisher
may have had the motive

for killing Butch Casey,

did Kristal have
the financial means

to order a murder,

Through their investigation,
they subpoenaed phone records,

Eventually,
it was determined that

there was no evidence whatsoever

that she was complicit
in planning these murders.

And the investigators were
comfortable with the fact that

most likely, it was not her.

So now investigators can set
Kristal Fisher aside

and move on
to other potential leads.

We just don't know. This is part

BOWIE:
It was frustrating,

because you spend
a lot of time waiting.

They might be a headline
on the evening news,

but it's a whole other story
when it's your family.

And in my family,
Sharon was very much the glue.

And when you lose a presence
like that in your family,

it has an immediate impact.

Right? Because then,

It's hard when you lose
that person.

MARTINEZ:
Investigators have the T-shirt

that was on the front porch,

but they had yet to receive

any sort of DNA analysis.

MURPHY:
What you're looking for
is pieces

of the DNA that are referred to
as markers.

may get you to the 99.9% match.

That's gonna be on your clothing
whether you want it to or not.

MARTINEZ:
Except that only one

was able to be identified.

But given that it's 1994,
they weren't able to identify

the other profiles are.

was continuing to evolve.

So even though there was

two sets of DNA on the shirt,

it was ultimately a dead end.

MURPHY:
When an investigation

a detective will reach out to
the law enforcement community,

professionals,
people that you trust.

So now we have our flyers out
there with all the local police,

for any potential leads.

They'd found a...

The tags on the car

came back to Butch Casey.

MARTINEZ:
This was a huge break

for the case

because Butch's neighbor

stated he saw two males

getting into
the black Mercedes next door.

So we can assume
that it was driven

from the home by the same person
that committed the murder.

They might still have
an attempt at DNA samples.

for analysis at the lab.

amino acids, things like that,
all of that will evaporate,

given that the fire would reach
such a high degree of intensity.

they were able to lift
a couple fingerprints

that was amazing.

Just a couple feet from me,

I look over and they've
got all these potted plants

on top of
the entertainment center.

And I notice
that there was a couple

So I said, oh,
what's back there?

was a camera on a tripod.

And I looked
at the crime scene tech

and I said,
"No, it couldn't be."

They said,
"Well, you think we could

take a look and see
what that's recording?"

It appeared
that Butch had set this up

to record, for whatever reason.

Why would Butch Casey have

a video camera hidden

inside of his house?

I'm going to guess
that the investigator

that found that is like,

"Guys, you're not going
to believe this."

I don't know.
But here's the bottom line.

MARINEZ: There is
a huge break in the case

In 1994,

starting to come along,

But I don't know of a soul

who had one in their house.

And lo and behold,
they turn it on,

and it was recording.

And it recorded
this heinous crime.

People are just amazed.

They'd never
seen anything like that.

I'm thinking,
boy, this is going to be

an important part of evidence.

And sure enough,
it was an extensive video,

and it looked like
we had a very valuable tool

to assist us
in this investigation.

BOWIE: I got a call from
the Miramar Police Department,

and they said, "Your sister's
murder was caught on tape."

And I said, "What?"

And I said, "What?"

I didn't know what that meant.

Are you saying

And he said, "No,
it was a home security camera.

"And they're going
to unseal it tomorrow,

so we wanted you to know."

And I flew down to the
Miramar Police Department

with a really good
family friend,

and I watched the unedited tape.

MARTINEZ:
The video shows Marie,

Sharon and Butch.

They are having a drink,
talking.

They were kind of like in
the early hours of the morning,

post having been at the club.

But then it happened.

Two offenders are seen

on the crime scene.

Of course...

So he explains that Pablo Ibar

share a place together,

So, of course, the investigators
go to the mom's house.

Pablo's in custody
down in Dade County.

They show Pablo's mom

and she immediately

identifies it as her son,

Which ties in Pablo

After investigators go

he's only been staying there

just for a short amount of time.
