or survive eliminations.

And now we are down
to the final eight.

One male and one female
will come out on top.

You all have a one-in-four shot
at serious cash

and your share of $1 million.

receiving $400,000 each,

will be receiving $75,000,

with third place
getting $25,000.

And if you come in fourth, well,
you can say you made my final.

However, you're going home

Throughout this race, there will
be a series of checkpoints.

You're going to complete these
checkpoints in search of tokens.

This is Sinister.

Sinister is going to act as
your floating start/finish line.

You're going to jump off
Sinister, go do the checkpoint,

come back as fast as you can.

The fact that we have to start
and end each checkpoint

on this boat is giving me
the impression

that we're going to be swimming

a little bit more
than I might be ready for.

TJ:
Now, all season long,

I've reminded you
how you treat people matters.

You've all probably dished out
your fair share of karma,

but the people
who have left this game

from the very beginning
all have a say in this game.

Which brings me
to the karma vote.

but we know that whatever
is about to come out

to go into the Arena

and pick targets,

I made a fair amount of enemies.

So it's gonna be tough for me,
with that karma vote.

checkpoint: Sandblast.

To begin, you're all gonna start
right up here on the railing.

When I say go,
you will jump into the water,

and swim all the way to shore.

When you get to shore,
read the sign

and get it done. Get back here,

I'll reward you a token
according to how you finish.

Derek, you'll be assessed
a three-minute penalty

for losing at
the last challenge. All right?

MICHELE:
I've overcome a lot this season,

but I would be lying to you if
I said I was not scared as hell

of entering this final.

These girls have
a lot of muscles,

they have a lot of strength,

they have a lot of brain.

But I was on swim team
in high school,

so I feel really, really
comfortable in the water.

I know that there's gonna be
points that I want to quit,

but I'm not gonna let the fear

or doubt creep in.

I'm definitely nervous
because my competition

going into the final
is absolutely stacked.

But these karma points

are a huge curveball.

I didn't feel like I had bad
blood with anyone all season,

so I could take this win.

This first checkpoint
is called Sandblast.

We have to swim out
to this island,

and I'm definitely finding
myself in the front of the pack.

You know what? I may be

one of the strongest
swimmers here.

JORDAN:
I'm trying to get

as big a lead as I can before

I get to the sand
because I know

my biggest strength
is going to be swimming.

These guys can all run,
so I've got to get it done now

and hold the lead.

- TJ: Ready?
- DEREK: Because I got last place

on the last challenge,
I have three minutes to wait.

So I'm looking at the views,
I'm looking at the scenery.

I'm looking at Kyland
really slowly swimming.

I'm like, "Oh.

Blow that horn, TJ."

TJ:
All right, Derek, you ready?

- Go.
- [air horn blows]

[Derek inhales sharply]

JENNY:
Right now, I'm first
out of the girls.

I know that
I'm pretty good at swimming,

but I'm gonna have
to be doing that

over and over and over again.

This is gonna be
fucking hard.

But I want to compete
against the best of the best.

It doesn't scare me,
doesn't faze me,

and do you know what?

I'm gonna see
the best of my best

by competing against them.

This beach run is no joke.

The sand is deep,

and we need to do this
five times.

It sucks, it's long.

It is a slog,

and I love it.

KYLAND:
Several people are already doing

their first return trip
with their first puzzle pieces.

I'm worried because
I'm looking at Bananas,

who has won more Challenges

than anyone else.

Then we have Jordan,
who has arguably the best

winning percentage in finals

of any Challenger ever.

But I'm pretty good at puzzles,

so I got to kick it
into high gear.

[panting]:
Okay, let's fucking go.

TORI:
Oh, my God.

he's made up a ton of ground,

so I have to get this puzzle
as fast as I can

and get back in the water.

This run is not any normal run.

This is about
half a mile each way,

a full mile round trip,

and we have a few trips.

And my shoes are wet
and my body's wet,

and I'm already tired
from the swim.

But here's one thing I know
about running:

I will not stop.

I mean, my wife
has been taking care

of three kids by herself
for a few months now.

The lion's share
of a million dollars?

It would be the least
I could do.

with these guys that are just

I've been here before,
and I think

this is where experience
plays in.

I'm going to be able
to withstand

the pain and the anguish

both mentally and physically

longer than my competition.

TORI:
Michele and Jenny

are such fast swimmers.

I have to solve
this puzzle quickly

and get in the water fast enough
because if I have enough

of a lead in the water,
then I'll be able to beat them.

JORDAN:

I'm the second one
to finish this,

and I had a penalty.

So it's like, okay, kudos to me.

I-I can do this.

I really want to win this

because I was a fan
watching The Challenge

growing up, in high school.

Like, this was my show to watch

with my best friend, and knowing

that if it comes down
to the karma vote

being what makes us
a winner or not,

I have been nice to everybody,

I'm friends
with a lot of people.

Like, I'm sitting pretty good
with the karma votes.

Like, that's going to push me
above everybody else.

so hopefully I'm able
to get this thing

and not end up in dead last.

from the right-hand side

I need to get back to Sinister,

I need to get first place.

Challenge 40 final, on top.

I don't want to count
my chickens too early, but

In the individual portion
of the game,

I've never placed first
in anything.

So starting this final
with a first place token

means the world to me.

Since day one of this season,

I've had to battle my way here
as the underdog.

was underestimated,
and to be perfectly honest,

I underestimated myself
in a lot of ways.

I've battled
with my own insecurities.

I've battled with other people's
perceptions of me.

All of their thoughts about who
I am and how I play this game.

They're just trying to create
the riff between us.

manipulative things to get here.

I got here
because I won eliminations.

DEREK: Normally
when you jump on a ship,

there's, like, lounge chairs

and cabana beds
and pool decks, you know? No.

We have to be standing
in this wet, muddy, dirty floor

in our wet clothes
with our hands on this handlebar

until we get
to the next location.

This is going to be
so strenuous because

if we have to continue swimming
and then not being able

to rest,
I can't even think about

how my body's gonna feel
after this.

You see that abandoned ship
way out there?

That is checkpoint two.

Ghost Ship.

Swim to that ship,
board that ship

and find the directions,
read them and get the task done.

wins this checkpoint.

who shows up and wins.

Being in yet another final,

I have experience
on these other guys, but...

with experience also comes age.

With age comes bad hips

and hemorrhoids and knees.

I'm a little bit worried

that I just can't
keep up with him,

so I'm gonna need
a lot of karma.

And I was able

to not absolutely empty the tank
on the first checkpoint.

But Derek has been
going as hard

and as fast as he can.

So I pull out into the lead
and now it's about

not letting him catch back up.

JENNY:

RACHEL:
I am devastated.

On the second checkpoint,

I've come in third place.

And I'm worried because
I'm pretty used to winning

and I feel like
I'm letting down Era One.

It's not a good feeling.

I came in first place
on the first checkpoint

and now I'm in fourth place
on the second.

Apparently, I'm not very good
at attention to detail.

That cost me the win
in this checkpoint.

But I'm looking
at all the girls here

and we're already back
to the Sinister.

JORDAN:
Come on, boys!

MICHELE:
Meanwhile, other guys are

still swimming.

I'm kind of thinking like,

"Damn, look at the girls
who I'm up against."

They're better
than all the guys are.

I'm happy to see that we're
kind of whupping their asses.

[shouting, whooping]

BANANAS:
After two checkpoints,

me and Derek are now tied.

We both have a second place
and a third place finish.

And now it looks
like it's gonna be a fight

between Derek and myself for who
can win these checkpoints.

But this is a very long final.

And if history is any indicator,

there is still a lot of game
to be played.

JORDAN:

MICHELE:
I feel like this final is

at a detriment to Kyland.

I don't think he's
fully prepped on swimming

and I'm nervous for him.

TJ:
All right, everyone.

That was checkpoint two.

we have Jordan and Jenny.

TORI: Where has
this Jenny been all season?

Like... [exclaims]
it's gonna be tough to beat her.

In order to win this,
I need to pick it up.

JENNY: I have not swam
for four years.

Last time I swam was
in Thailand, season 34.

and get a good rhythm
and good breathing

is like the best feeling ever.

Jordan gets first place
back-to-back.

Him and I were trading

first and second place
for most of the season,

and I had to go into elimination

multiple times
against Challenge champions.

But now I'm getting
back-to-back last places.

This is not even a situation
where I'm thinking about

how can I be competitive
with Jordan, but it's like,

"How can I stay
in this game at all?"

But I feel like I was
pretty nice to everyone,

so I don't anticipate

getting a lot of bad karma.

So I need to turn this around

because the job
I came here to do

is still truly possible.

Again, you're gonna start
on Sinister,

jump in the water,
swim all the way to that beach.

From there,
it's a thousand steps.

Like, when we swim
in daily challenges 500 meters,

we see the end in sight,
we can do it.

You put us in the open water
against these waves

that are literally choking us.

Like, of course
it's gonna be difficult.

I can only imagine how much more
we're gonna have to do.

JORDAN: Checkpoint three,
we have to swim to shore

and then climb a thousand steps,

get all the way
to the other side of the island.

I'm not wasting any time

because I have no idea

how close these guys
are on my tail.

If we have to swim
every single time.

Dude, it's such
a fucking disadvantage, man.

- JENNY: Such a disadvantage.
- MICHELE: It's crazy.

This season, me and Jenny have
kind of been on opposite sides.

She's been Bananas' Angel,

and I've kind of been
Bananas' Devil.

So, I know that Jenny may have

a little bit of animosity

towards me because,
when we were on Era Four,

she continuously got thrown in,

but she seems to be the stiffest

competition right now,
so I'm just

happy that I'm keeping up.

TORI:

Despite Tori's drama
with Bananas,

I've made it very clear to her
from the beginning that Tori

and my relationship
is separate from that.

RACHEL:
