that boxing is very Neanderthal.

the centre of the ring.

These two men putting on gloves,

And they're there
to take each other's heads off.

there is a different side to him

because you can't be

And for most people, that is at home.
That is your family.

and this is not a joke,

who has to do the school run,

who has to go running with the dog
and pick up the muck.

The real Tyson Fury
goes into his local café

on a Monday and he's getting his usual.

I always collect me beans at Costa.

What I do is, get loads of free coffee,

then I'll store up, seven, eight,
nine coffees and they'll expire.

I'm like, "Oh!"

And the people are looking at him,

and this one woman said,
"You are Tyson Fury?",

and he says, "Yeah, I am."

And she can't get it in her head that
the man she's just seen on television,

the man that's in the papers,
the man that's been on the radio,

winning a world title,
and defending the world title,

is sitting next to her for breakfast.

That's Tyson Fury.

[Fury] Oh, yeah!

What a day to be alive.

This is a very historic, uh, day, this.

When the Romans invaded Britain…

[manager] We all know who's Tyson Fury.

Let's talk about Oleksandr Usyk…

…who made his career
starting from 15 or 16.

He became the European amateur champion,

then the world amateur champion.

Olympic amateur champion.

World champion in cruiser-weight.

Unified world champion in cruiser-weight.

Undisputed cruiser-weight champion.

Unified heavyweight champion.

And now he's one step away
from being the undisputed in heavyweight.

[inhales] Mmm…

Something you cannot find really often.

The challenges that Usyk poses to Tyson
is basically his boxing skill.

Usyk is a phenomenal boxing brain.

[broadcaster] He is so skilful.

What he does in the ring…
Everything has a purpose.

[Sahni] Oleksandr Usyk has the capability
of making people dance to his merry tune.

He is right on you at all times.

He just moves around you
in this tight semi circle.

He'll slip to the side of you,
he'll disappear behind you.

But he's almost always
close enough to you to hit you.

[broadcaster] Nothing is just, "Uh, I'm
just doing it for the sake of doing it."

He is setting you up like a chess move.

And all of a sudden, you duck.

[Sahni] So many fighters have thought,
"Oh, well, you know what I'm gonna do?

I'll stick it on him.

I'm bigger than this guy."

Nobody's cracked the code yet.

You watch his fights, and, incrementally,
round-by-round, he just turns up the heat.

To the point where his opponent
is struggling to live with it

and to the point where
they're almost ready to go.

Intelligence-wise, he must be
the smartest fighter fighting now.

"Pain is just weakness leaving your body."

[barking]

To be a boxer, you have to be a little
bit unhinged. That's just the truth of it.

And the higher you get up,
the madder it is.

So you have to be
a little bit crazy yourself.

And Usyk's as crazy as the next man.

[Usyk] Oh, yeah. Let's make it fun.

So I've been around Usyk for a long time.

He's a wonderful kind of person
with a great sense of humour.

[chattering]

Just nice to be around.

[Jones] We used to be
at training camps with him,

and he works hard and trains hard
and he spars hard…

but he's forever joking.

[chattering]

[Jones] He's a man who likes to party.

Likes a good time.
I think he'd be a good night out.

He's a man
who's comfortable in his own skin.

He doesn't have to be villain or the hero.
He just is himself.

And I was witnessing,

sometimes the big fights
were so long expected.

And at the final stage for some reason,
they were extended,

uh, rescheduled or whatever.

So, this is a big fight,

and it's been already rescheduled
for several times.

[Clarke] And we've been waiting
such a long time for this.

It's the first undisputed fight
since 1999.

It's not about Usyk and Fury.
It's about "The Undisputed".

[reporter 1] And that means

one singular person
holding all four belts.

[Sahni] WBC, IBF, WBO, WBA.

The four main belts.

You can have a World Champion
in each of those.

Every single other division
we know who number one is.

We've had "Undisputeds"
in all the divisions.

What about you, the heavyweight boys?

What we want as boxing is one man
to hold them all together like this

If you were in a barber's chair,
if you were in a bar,

who's the greatest fighter in the world.

The heavyweight champion of the world.

This tells us who that man is.

Both guys
have basically had their semi-finals.

Usyk had his semi-final against AJ,
beat him twice.

Tyson Fury had his semi-finals
against Deontay Wilder,

beat him three times.

It's done. Now it's you two.

You two monsters.

The winner of this, no doubt about it,

we have to put amongst the greatest
heavyweights we've ever seen.

[Bunce] Someone said
"Mack, in a place called Paradise."

Everyone says it was at Las Vegas.
It wasn't.

It was in Paradise, Las Vegas,
in November.

And there was a real edge in the air
all week.

So, you got the sense
it was going to be something special.

They contested every inch of that canvas
every second of that fight.

It's a slug fest for twelve rounds.

And Lennox wins, but he doesn't win
by a landslide. He wins.

[Davies] Lennox was in the last great era
of heavyweight boxing, until now.

But he might be
the greatest heavyweight of all time.

He only lost a couple of fights.

And he avenged those losses.

[Davies] The more you look back
on his career the more you love him.

He beat Evander Holyfield, to be that man.

He was, in 1999,

the last undisputed
heavyweight champion of the world.

You know,
when I was growing up there was like,

different world champions,
different heavyweights.

And I said, well, you know,
there has to be one heavyweight champion.

I have to bring all the belts together.

The world will know that there's only one

heavyweight champion in history,
and that's me.

And that's what Lennox Lewis
managed to pull off that night.

But that was the last time

a man left the ring
with all the available belts.

Twenty-five years since that's been done.

Uh, the person who stands behind this
is His Excellency, Turki Alalshikh.

He was the one to implement the idea.

When his excellency
wants to make something happen,

he makes something happen.

Best won't fight the best.
Guess what? He came in and said,

"All right, now the best
are gonna fight the best.

We can use that word.

'Cause I think people need to know
that this is a special moment in boxing.

And enjoy it.
Fingers crossed, it'll last forever.

even if it is just a two-year jackpot,

enjoy that jackpot
because this is sensational.

[Davies] I've always felt like Fury
has got the skill to make his size count.

But me and me dad were training

And then me dad
would put us through the millstone

and grind us into the floor nearly.

looked sharp.

And he's got the eye of the tiger
like the old Tyson.

On that form, Tyson's stoppage,
around about seven.

[sibling] This camp has been
a very, very good camp.

Tyson's very happy here,
I mean he's in a good place.

So, I believe he'll do his job
and he'll do it in good fashion.

One minute everything was rosy
it was… [stammers]

and I-I mean he was sharp,
very, very sharp.

Next thing, bang.

I remember I was in a hotel in Vegas

and, um, I'd just seen that DAZN
put up my interview of Tyson Fury.

And I was like all excited.

And then one comment said "That's
a bit silly of you putting this up."

I'm like, "Why?"

Weird things happen in boxing.

And sometimes you get a call,
you get a text message,

and you just have
this impending sense of doom.

It was just… [stammers]

It's the kind of news
you just don't want to hear.

Something's gone wrong with Ring of Fire.

[Oladipo] And then I started
to get messages from several people

saying Tyson Fury's cut,
and it's a bad one.

And there was absolutely no way
the fight could go ahead.

You know, it teases you, boxing.

It brings you in.
You think everything is wonderful,

and sunshine and rainbows,
and then clouds come.

Some of the conspiracy theories
that were floating around,

some of the most ridiculous things
that were said by grown men.

"The cut's not real. He's faked it."

Social media was ablaze
with all sorts of theories

about how Fury's camp had been terrible.

He'd been getting knocked out
by practically anyone

that just walked in off the street.

Because he was so scared
of Oleksandr Usyk.

[Oladipo] He told his sparring partners
to hit him.

I'm like, people, that is stupid.

That Tyson Fury's conned us all.
He's not ready for the fight,

so he's got a surgeon in to cut his eye…

With a little blade. Chopped it.

- [chuckles]
- People said that.

I mean, it went beyond the bounds,
with deep theories, theorems even.

Formulae.

They broadcasted. They wrote it.

That is just absolute madness.

They genuinely thought this is deep state.

[Brown] Things happen.
What more can you do?

It's an accident.
People have 'em every day.

But it changes people's lives.

Turki Alalshikh had put a-a post out

saying the whole fight was off,
the whole card was off.

So, you know, it's very early days.
[stammers]

I've not seen anything since then
sort of thing.

There's a very down beat in the camp
at the moment.

- Everybody's--
- [Fury] No one's died, so…

- [Brown laughs] No one's died.
- It's not that bad is it?

- No, you're right.
- Could be a lot worse

than a fucking cut on your face, can't it?

- Absolutely. It's sport right?
- Right.

Obviously I've lost a lot of money,
I've lost a big fight,

but it is what it is.

There's not much I can do about it,
is there?

What people want to believe,
they gotta believe.

You can't convince people
if they don't wanna believe you,

It's entirely up to, uh, anyone's opinion.

And, uh, I remember seeing on Twitter
that Tyson Fury had suffered a cut.

and that the February 17th fight
against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh is off.

Fast forward to the next day.
Now we're at February 3rd.

One of my favourite things to do
on Saturdays

is attend my son's soccer games.

I'm not one of these crazy dads,
but I'm locked in on the game.

Just so happened that I looked at my phone

and all of a sudden I'm getting a call
from His Excellency, Alalshikh.

Now, all of a sudden, like, the heart is
beating, you're sweating a little bit.

You know, he gets right to business
and asks me if we're doing a show today.

So I say, "No, but, uh, what's up?"

He says, "Could you do a show today?"

I said, uh…

Yeah, I'm in.

I get my son, we get in the car.

Much to his chagrin, I tell him we don't
have time to stop for the post-game meal,

which we usually do.
We usually get an egg and cheese bagel.

He's never late.

[Helwani] Get home, run upstairs,
put on a patented plaid shirt.

I sit down, open my computer,
fire on my one LED light.

And now, we're testing. So it's, like,
me and the two producers. We're testing.

"Does this work? Does this look good?
Is everything okay?"

Yes, everything's okay. And, so, I say,

"Are you guys ready to go?"
Again, not really knowing what's going on.

And we go live.

and he just missed that moment.

You know, visually he sees him.

And it's some of

My father was, uh, like,
a old-school, hard people.

No emotion. No say, "Son, I love you."

I don't know why.

I, all time, say to my children,

I say, every time, my son,
"Hey, Son. You strong. You can."

I think it's, uh… Give power.

My father say to my uncle,
"I love my son."

And once he visited the hospital,

where the guys had no arms, no legs,

where you bring the victory for Ukraine.

And that really convinced him to take
the decision and to take the fight.

and I look at it quite often.
