that these indictments are all false,

by the Democratic Party to prevent him from reassuming the presidency,

and this conspiracy theory that everybody is against Donald Trump.

Trump has been able to play on that.

That has been a real secret to Trump's success.

I mean, this was obviously a sham

and designed just to get Donald Trump.

I have no doubt that if he did not run for President in 2024,

these charges would not have been brought.

They're trying to take out their only contestant against them

for President of the United States in 2024.

It's just a way to stifle him and to get him off the campaign trail,

smear his name, take him out of the game.

The Front Row Joes started maybe five years ago.

We're from all over the United States.

None of us individually would have known each other,

hadn't it been for Mr Trump.

I've driven almost 200,000 miles to Trump rallies.

I've done over 60 rallies in 60 different cities.

I quit counting the states that I haven't been to, let me say that.

I've been all the way to Alaska for a rally.

We travel the country for him.

I wasn't really into politics

until Trump announced that he was going to run.

The things that he was saying about the country

and the things that he wanted to do,

I was just like, I've never heard my whole life.

And I'm like, this is really somebody that wants to

make a change in this country.

I'm tired of politicians telling you what you want to hear

and never go follow through with anything.

If you talk to Trump supporters about why they like him,

what they'll tell you is he doesn't sound like a politician.

And they're right.

The fact that he tells you what he thinks

is what makes his followers feel like he's Honest Donald,

the only real leader in American politics.

That's absolutely key to his appeal.

And the Democrats have ignored this for many years.

We've done rain, we've done snow, we've done heat.

It doesn't bother us. We will always be there for our President.

Some people have tents, some people have, you know, just...

..blankets, and they just sleep right there,

or just in the car or the truck.

We just camp out, have fun.

We're almost at the rally. I'm excited.

Oh, my goodness. Look at these people already camping.

Wow.

I've never seen it in my lifetime in politics.

It just shows you there's something going on in that electorate.

The MAGA movement in the United States

starts from the premise that there is some perfect place

for this country to be and we've been there in the past.

And if, in fact, that's the case, what you really need is a strong man

to return the country to where it used to be great.

MAGA is all about Trump.

It is a Trump cult.

Election denialism is absolutely central to MAGA.

Trump has gotten as much as a third of the American electorate overall

to question the legitimacy of Biden's victory.

This is his most democracy-damaging act of all.

If you can get large swathes of a public to believe

that their elections are rigged,

you have gone a long way to discrediting

the institution of democracy itself.

America, as we begin this election year,

we must be clear, democracy is on the ballot.

There is more spirit now

Good politicians have always known that making your followers

The Democrats tended almost to look down on these kinds of rallies

and to see themselves as somehow being above them.

But I've got news for you,

those rallies are a very important component

of generating excitement for your cause.

Trump craves adulation,

erm, so the rallies serve this

kind of emotional purpose for him.

It's also a moment for him to sort of do that testing.

In a rally, he kind of, in real time, is figuring out

how is the crowd reacting, what are the lines of attack

that land and don't land, what are the nicknames that are funny.

is harmful when it so vilifies his opponents.

Donald Trump casts himself almost as this martyr

who is taking the arrows on behalf of his flock.

It's almost a religious appeal.

And, in the end, they're not after me... They're after you.

..I just happen to be standing... In the way.

He says, quite explicitly, "Coming after you,

"but I'm standing in their way."

So, in that way, you know, he's hitting on another one

of his favourite themes, which is that he's a perpetual victim,

but also that he is doing this for noble and higher causes.

They believe they live in a world where they are under immediate

personal threat and only Trump can save them.

Here's the dirty little secret they never get -

he would never give them the time of day

if it wasn't part of the act.

I just said, "Mr President, will you please sign my jersey?"

He looked at me funny. I'm like, oh, shit, he's not going to do it.

I kind of thought he'd sign it here.

Nah.

He spun me around and grabbed my shoulder and signed my back.

Thank you, sir.

They believe that he is their god, their avatar.

You can tell people in a cult, "Hey, the cult leader is this

"and this and this and this," and they will tell you,

"No, no. I'm happy, I'm happy, I'm happy, I'm happy."

I'm happy.

He's convinced large numbers of American voters

that he is the surrogate for them, that he is the victim

of the deep state and other forces in America

that are really after his supporters.

That's not true, but this speaks to the alienation

of many of these people.

Many of them were once Democrats, blue collar voters,

who feel that they've been cut out of the American success story.

I was a craftsman. I retired as a pipefitter.

When I was younger, working in the unions,

I voted Democrat over and over and over.

We're at the place I retired from.

It used to be Goodyear Tire and Rubber.

We made hoses and we made tank track

and we made agricultural products.

They plant out here employed 2,700 people.

Now it only employs around 500...

..because they have lost a lot of jobs.

That would be a reason to turn to Mr Trump.

Rick's story is very familiar to me.

In fact, I met many people like Rick,

even when I was Secretary of Labour in the early 1990s.

We are on the way to becoming a two-tiered society,

composed of a few winners

and a larger group of Americans left behind,

whose anger and whose disillusionment

is easily manipulated.

It looked to me at the time as if America was beginning to split,

and it was not just inequality of income and wealth,

it was also the cultural implications

that came with that inequality.

The end of the American Dream, as it were.

The American Dream...

..is dead.

Bring it back!

But if I get elected President,

I will bring it back...

..bigger and better and stronger

than ever before

and we will make America great again.

If you worked hard and you played by the rules, you would do better

and better and your children would do better even than you.

Donald Trump is right that that American Dream,

for a vast group of Americans,

has turned into deep, deep disillusionment.

We want the American Dream... SHE LAUGHS

..and it feels like we don't have that.

We want to be able to have a nice home and have a yard for our kids

and just be safe.

This matters more than anything.

They used to have good manufacturing jobs.

Those manufacturing jobs are now gone.

They don't feel that they have a place in society

that gives them a sense of agency.

Their pride is hurt.

Donald Trump understood what this large group of Americans,

disaffected Americans, wanted to hear.

We are a nation in decline.

We are failing nation.

We are a nation whose economy is collapsing

into a cesspool of ruin.

Donald Trump has captured the spirit,

captured the voice of the working man.

I think it's part of that appeal

that really resonates with them.

It's like, "This is a guy who is going to take the system on for me."

If you want to stop the destruction of our country

and save the American Dream, then you must vote Republican.

We love you. We love you, Trump!

People feel attracted to a strong leader.

They feel emotionally attracted to somebody who they feel

actually can protect them.

But Trump's message of anger and of vengeance

has alienated very large portions of the old moderate...

..erm, wing in the Republican Party, and it has

led many of them away from the party and even toward the Democrats.

Seven of that as chairman.

And, currently,

I'm now the chairman of the Shelby County, Ohio, Democratic Party.

Quite a switch.

In the Republican Party, in the MAGA party now,

there's only one voice.

You're not able to operate without pledging allegiance...

And if you don't speak with a Trump voice,

you're not in the herd.

When it came to the 2024 Republican presidential nomination process,

despite the fact

we had a lot of very good potential presidential nominees,

many didn't run because they were afraid

of going through the Trump meat grinder,

and the people who did run were unable to beat him.

He has been able to create a cult of personality,

which is very dangerous for American politics.

The guiding philosophy is rabid populism.

A perennial search for a villain to slay.

They're looking for someone who can say,

"I am the only one that can fix it.

"I know what the problem is. I'll take care of it."

I alone can fix it.

The MAGA movement and the President know that

people are looking for easy solutions.

Quick. Bang.

And that appeals to people.

I really do disagree with that very strongly

because when I look at what he actually stands for,

he's talking about the same things Ronald Reagan talked about -

lower taxes, reduced regulation, shrink the size of government.

All of these things are the same things Republicans have stood for

since the days of Ronald Reagan.

It's a headline you never expect to write.

It's a moment you never expect to live through.

Guilty on all counts.

Donald J Trump found guilty late today

in a New York courthouse on all 34 counts

of falsifying business records to conceal payments to a porn star

just before the 2016 election.

These payments were part of a scheme to conceal crimes

that hid damaging information from the voting public.

Trump is guilty!

Good for you, man. Guilty. Oh, my God.

This is the beginning of the end, folks.

Trump is now the first former President in US history

to ever be convicted of a crime.

It was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt.

So, his fundraising efforts went through the roof.

The good news is, they raised with small money donors

a record $39 million in about a ten-hour period.

Unfortunately, he turned out to be able to, with having no shame,

no sense of responsibility, no sense of guilt,

That debate was a real earthquake in American politics.

you had people within the political class, the media class,

convinced that he had to step down,

that it was so self-evident that he couldn't possibly continue.

Right now, as we speak, there is a deep, a wide

and a very aggressive panic in the Democratic Party.

It was painful to watch.

It was beyond painful. It was heartbreaking.

His biggest issue that he had to prove to the American people

was that he had the energy, he had the stamina, and he didn't do that.

If you don't got enough energy to stand up and debate somebody,

how are you going to lead our country?

Based on that, in 18 weeks, Donald Trump will be the President-elect.

The desire for strong, dominant leaders is in our DNA.

Even people who don't like Trump's personality

still might be prone to think, well, at least he's a tough guy

who can deal with our enemies.

Whereas the Democrats, they seem like wimps.

And at that point, it became clear to, I think, most Democrats,

that Biden probably couldn't beat Trump.

I've decided the best way forward is to pass the torch

to a new generation.

In just a few months, the American people

will choose the course of America's future.

America is going to have to choose between hope and hate,

between unity and division.

But nothing - nothing - can come in the way of saving our democracy.

We're going to walk down to the Capitol

and I'll be there with you.

And we fight.

When Kamala Harris stepped forward, she seemed to understand something

the Democrats had not understood for at least a decade,

and started really taking it to him.

Donald Trump tried to throw away your votes.

When he failed,

he sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol.

The consequences of putting Donald Trump back in the White House

What Harris did was she talked about Trump being awful

but then she followed up with,

"Not going to happen. Not on my watch."

America, we are not going back.

A completely changed game came about as a result of that.

Kamala Harris has energised this party.

People are motivated.

We've got them clawing at the door here

to volunteer for us. People we've never seen before.

I've been in politics a long time, I've not seen this kind of spirit.

Tonight, the high stakes showdown here in Philadelphia

between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

Their first face-to-face meeting ever.

She made fun of him, and what she did is she demonstrated

how, in fact, his dominance could be punctured.

because it's a really interesting thing to watch.

I think it was a brilliant move on her part

to talk about his crowd sizes.

People start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom.

She can't talk about that. People don't leave my rallies.

in the history of politics.

He was so rattled that it was then that he started talking about

people in Springfield, Ohio, these immigrants,

eating people's dogs and cats.

What they have done to our country by allowing these millions

and millions of people to come into our country

and look at what's happening to the towns all over the United States.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs,

the people that came in, they're eating the cats, they're eating...

They're eating the pets of the people that live there.

Immigration, for former President Trump, takes him off the rails.

He started talking about a town

literally 35 miles from here,

Springfield, Ohio,

where Haitian immigrants were brought to that town...

..to perform jobs that no-one else was performing.

What is going on in Springfield, Ohio, is very important.

It is a city of 60,000 people

that now has 15,000 to 20,000 Haitian immigrants.

And there are very real problems.

When you're coming in in these kinds of massive numbers

and overwhelming communities, then I think the American people

have a right to say, "Wait, what are we doing here?"

Crime in this country is through the roof,

and we have a new form of crime, it's called migrant crime,

and it's happening at levels that nobody thought possible.

This is so rich, coming from someone who has been prosecuted...

..for national security crimes, economic crimes,

election interference, has been found liable for sexual assault,

and his next big court appearance is in November

at his own criminal sentencing.

We will never give up, we will never concede. It doesn't happen.

You don't concede when there's theft involved.

So the case here is the criminal prosecution

of former President Trump for the actions he took

in relation to his dispute of the 2020 election result,

and the Supreme Court took the case.

We're coming on the air with breaking news

from the Supreme Court. A landmark decision in American history.

This is an explosive political moment

as much as this is a significant legal crossroads.

The Supreme Court decided...

..whether a President is immune from criminal prosecution

for actions taken while he was in office...

..and the Supreme Court said yes.

Now, it's important to say, though,

the Supreme Court was very clear

that a former President is not immune from criminal prosecution

for his unofficial acts while taken in office.

Now, that's critically important.

The allegations against former President Trump in this case

are overwhelmingly unofficial actions.

His team is seeking to delay this as much as possible

past the November election because that is the political reality here,

that the former President could, in theory,

end up back in the White House come January.

The Supreme Court, by taking the case,

has delayed the prosecution.

If time were not a factor, I'm confident that President Trump

would ultimately go to trial, and I think he would likely be convicted.

The problem is, if we don't have a trial

by January 20th of 2025,

then we face the possible future in which a re-elected President Trump

orders the Department of Justice to drop the charges against him,

which would indisputably be within his power to do.

If he does not win this race, he probably goes to jail.

If he does win this race, he will not.

For him, this election is not just a matter of returning to power,

it's a question of whether he spends the rest of his life in prison.

If Donald Trump loses this election, then he will face multiple

criminal cases in which he faces dozens of felony charges.

That is an incredible motivator to not only run

but to win a second term in office.

I think the question is,

what are the true impulses that Trump himself has?

What is he coming back to do?

We know what a second Trump term would look like.

It's all laid out in Project 2025, written by his closest advisers.

Project 2025 is this 920-page war plan

that over 100 conservative groups have come together to publish,

and the whole point of this document

is to fundamentally transform our government

into something a lot more like a dictatorship.

How might Project 2025 touch the lives of ordinary Americans?

In just about every way,

starting with women's reproductive freedom,

but not stopping there.

A very Christian-nationalist, religious-extremist social order

would be imposed.

People often like to say that Donald Trump

is not particularly ideological, which is largely true,

but there are a few ideological convictions that he has long held,

and one of them is absolutely sort of very tough stance on immigration.

When Mexico sends its people,

they're sending people that have lots of problems.

They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists,

and some, I assume, are good people.

Project 2025 proposes to use extreme police powers and military powers

in ways that are dystopic.

Our police are being mobbed, brutalised and horrifically beaten

by swarms of migrants.

We will begin the largest domestic deportation operation in America.

Yes! Woo!

Yeah!

We're talking about massive detention camps

in the interior of the United States,

we're talking about round-ups of more than ten million people.

We've got a lot of work to do. You know, when they let...

I think the real number is 15, 16 million people into our country.

When they do that, we've got a lot of work to do.

They're poisoning the blood of our country. That's what they've done.

He talks about the blood of America is being poisoned,

echoing the same exact language...

..used in Nazi Germany.

There is a major historic parallel...

..in Trump's use of words,

talking about, for example,

foreigners poisoning the blood of Americans.

They are poisoning the blood of our country.

And the parallel is Adolf Hitler,

particularly in 1933, 1934,

erm, before he takes over...

..the government entirely.

When he's still building his base.

I think a lot of people think that America First

or the MAGA movement is anti-immigration.

It's not. It's anti-illegal immigration.

I don't think it is a racial issue, I don't think it's a religious issue

or anything along those lines, or even culturally.

I think it's just the sheer mass of numbers.

We will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists

and the radical left thugs that live like vermin

within the confines of our country.

The degree to which his pessimism and darkness

has infected half this country terrifies me.

They're trying to change my country to a place I don't want it to be.

I don't want it to be more communist.

I don't want them in control of my life.

I want to be in control of my life.

Look, I don't believe any politician should be compared to Adolf Hitler.

That's irresponsible.

I've seen someone in Donald Trump that loves America,

believes in America.

When a lot of people started reading Project 2025,

a lot of the extremely unsavoury aspects came to public light.

Then Trump found it necessary to say, "No, I..." you know,

"I've never heard of this thing. I don't know where it came from."

I have nothing to do with Project 2025. I haven't read it.

I don't want to read it, purposely. I'm not going to read it.

That is just ridiculous. His political action committee

actually called it Trump's Project 2025.

The people that expect to be in his administration

are the people who wrote Project 2025.

So Trump can try to run away from the document if he wants,

but the document is basically Trump's plan.

In 2016, I declared, I am your voice.

Today, I add, I am your warrior, I am your justice.

And for those who have been wronged and betrayed,

I am your retribution. I am your retribution.

Now there is no ideology in the Republican Party except pain.

They want vengeance.

One of the ironic lessons of the Supreme Court's decision,

that if a President is going to commit crimes,

he should make sure to do so through the abuse of official power.

And the abuse of official power is the core

of what a dictatorship is about.

and that comes as a surprise to people when I say that.

But what that decision did is it overturned

the fundamental principle of the United States of America.

That fundamental principle was that no-one is above the law.

The decision creates catastrophic risks...

..of what a President might do with his power.

Americans are so sanguine about their democracy.

This moment is different.

Because Donald Trump, if he gets back to the White House,

is going to have different tools at his disposal.

He's got a supermajority now of the United States Supreme Court.

He didn't have that before.

He has this new absolute immunity.

No President in history has had anything like that.

No President in history has ever had a completely compliant party

that had elevated them into a cult leader.

So, when you put all that together,

yeah, it's very different than anything we've seen before.

This race is about our freedom.

It's about our democracy. CROWD: Yes!

It's about the very soul of America. CROWD: Yes!

Just remember who in God's name we are.

The fact is, this is the most important election in the history

of the United States,

because democracy has never been on the ballot like it is right now.

And we have to keep in mind, too,

that democracy more globally is at stake as well.

There's a reason why Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un

and all these despots all over the world are rooting so hard

for Trump, because what Trump does is he seems to discredit democracy

in the land of its stronghold.

In the strongest democracy in the world,

Trump seems to be proof that democracy doesn't work.

We're beginning with the race for the White House.

A new poll showing just how tight this race is.

It's essentially locked in a dead heat.

One of the tightest contests in modern American history.

The 2024 election will be razor thin.

It's really going to come down to about seven states.

The starting point is that there are no circumstances

under which former President Trump will concede that he loses,

and from there, it's just a question

of how he disputes the results.

The radical left Democrats rigged the presidential election in 2020.

They rigged the presidential election

and we're not going to allow them

to rig the presidential election of 2024.

People should understand there is a planning cell

of hundreds and hundreds of very, very highly paid attorneys

who are trying to build the system so that if Donald Trump loses,

they come out with lawfare at a level that is unimaginable.

I think the greatest point of vulnerability lies in states.

States have the primary authority

for conducting presidential elections,

so we will see frivolous lawsuits, we will see pressure

on state legislatures to interfere with the results.

And we may see violence as well...

..because I don't see any circumstances until the very end

in which former President Trump will admit defeat.

It's the United States Capitol on January 6th,

but it could be a city hall or a county courthouse

or some state capitol next.

Are the Proud Boys going to riot if Trump loses?

The media is obsessed with, will they do it again?

has a precious, fleeting opportunity.

A chance to chart a new way forward.

If we don't win on November 5th,

I think our country is going to cease to exist.

It could be the last election we ever have. I actually mean that.

This is the time when either we choose authoritarianism

or democracy,

and if we choose authoritarianism,

I think there will be no turning back,

so I think we better get this one right.
