- Why don't you go in after him? - Gotta wait for the rescue squad.

There's a man trapped in there and you're going to wait?

Hello. Walt? This is Lois Lane. Now. listen. I’m in Carbide, Pennsylvania.

A one-man mine has just collapsed. trapping the owner. known as Pop Polgase.

You don't think we can reach him from here?

- Not a chance. We gotta start a new hole. - Where?

From up there. We'll go straight down to this level, then drift.

- How long till you get him out? - That's hard to say. miss.

- We've got to sink a new shaft. - Why?

That tunnel is liable to collapse any minute.

The rescue shaft is now down 40 feet and Lafe Raiser.

---states he expects to break into the old workings later on this afternoon.

It is still not known whether Lois Lane and Pop Polgase are still alive.

We broke through the Joiner drift. found it full of gas.

- That's too bad. - You seem mighty unconcerned, Mr. Kent.

- Should I be concerned? -l'd be if it was a friend of mine in there.

Miss Lane and Pop Polgase are trapped in a mine cave-in.

Soon as the gas clears out of the tunnel. we'll go in and try to find them.

- Where did he come from? - What will he do?

- You all right. Miss Lane? - Yes. but help him.

He's pinned to the ground.

Now. hurry.

- Will they be all right? - They sure will.

I never saw anything like that before in my whole life.
