- I want to review your security plans. - Everything's under control, sir.

Well, thank you, You're looking very well yourself.

On behalf of your corporation it's a pleasure to have you with us Mr. Klae.

So kidnap threats must be taken very seriously.

Of course we receive a lot of crank calls hoping for handouts.

But this particular one mentioned my sister's new project.

Then whoever it is knows that she's coming here.

She's invited delegates from all over the map.

It could be radicals, terrorists, hate the rich, crackpots.

Or an old-fashioned grab at a blue chip ransom.

Whoever it is, I want Carolyn protected 24 hours a day.

I don't need to tell you she's got a mind of her own,

Nothing must interfere with her plans for the new commission.

She's more than a little put out with me at the moment,

because I voted no to the whole thing.

I am opposed to inviting outsiders here to the research facility.

However my vote doesn't mean much since she casts a spell over my brother Julian.

a classified contract with ironclad secrecy clauses.

to be forced to hand in their resignations.

Now look, there's no point in wrecking one of our most valuable assets.

You will receive a directive from the board forbidding any more classified contracts.

pistons controlled the rods down in the reactor room.

The, uh, radiation chamber is buried under the foundation.

Well, the reactor doesn't interfere with the use of the theater.

No, Armistead caters was cleared on my list of gate passes we just checked them out.

Somebody phoned Armistead and canceled it. Many of truck for their there people.

- How could they jam the doors? - This had to be planned from the inside.

I wish I knew. He went after them when I tried to get Scopes on the phone.

know a woman's life is at stake here.

difference between finding her in time or uh finding her dead.

and I want you to write down everything that happened.

No matter how small it may seem to you now. I want you to write it down.

I was in the theater, in the lighting booth.

I saw what happened to Miss Klae.

She was struggling with one of the caterers.

I ran forward to help but I fell down.

I thought I must have tripped but then I awoke in the lighting booth.

The way my head feels now someone must have come up

behind me and hit me hard and dumped me up there.

You say you saw Miss Klae struggling with some men?

- Yes - Is that all you saw?

No. I saw Miss Klae's brother Julian and sergeant Ryan they hit him and he fell down.

And you just came around now?

That means you've been unconscious for more than an hour.

Are you sure you don't need a doctor?

No I have a splitting headache and, uh,

I could do with a couple of aspirins and a massage.

Well, by all means you take care of yourself, Dr. Westin.

Your security system, now every passageway in

this building has got a closed circuit television camera.

There has to be a tape record somewhere.

We have the cameras but we do not have a continuous tape recording.

Somebody must have seen something on the monitors.

The monitors are in my office and unfortunately I was out in patrol.

You mean no one was watching the monitors?

Captain I want a man on those monitors 24 hours a day.

How cold in the lighting booth was that the best thing you could think of.

Not easy being the man on the stair who wasn't there.

He wasn't there again today how I wish he'd go away.

I was on that catering truck that left this facility.

- With Carolyn? - Maybe?

What do you mean she was kidnapped and taken away in a catering truck.

I jumped on the back of the truck as it was

pulling away so I didn't see who was inside it.

It drove down a country road about four or five miles then it

went into a clearing where there was a helicopter waiting for them.

You're not catching another cold, I hope.

There was a fight in the kitchen I got a face full of pepper.

- It's either that or walking pneumonia. - Oh, let's hope it's the pepper.

You know it didn't make sense out there.

How many caterers were there? How many did you see?

Four. Scopes asked everybody that question.

No, wait, one of the cooks said there were five.

So one of them must have stayed in the kitchen.

All right, there were four or five whatever

caterers plus Carolyn Klae that's five or six.

But there are only three people in the truck, two men and one woman.

Do you mind telling me what you're trying to compute?

Well that's just it it doesn't compute.

Two men and a woman dressed like Carolyn Klae,

run out of the truck they ran across to the helicopter.

Now what doesn't make sense about that?

Well, the helicopter couldn't carry anymore.

No, there were all three running, don't you see?

Caroline Klae wouldn't have been running they might have dragged her

or carried her but she would not have been running of her own accord.

I don't think that was Carolyn in that truck.

Then the truck and the helicopter was all it was a trick, a decoy.

Would certainly be a great way of pulling the FBI and the police away from here.

Okay, Carolyn Klae did not leave the corporation.

Well, if she never left she'd be here and she's not.

There are hundreds of rooms in this place. Labs, storage, spaces, offices.

If she's been kidnapped for a ransom,

she has to be held somewhere until the ransom's paid,

and what better place than her own

cooperation patrolled by her own security guards.

Hmm, well, that would account for missing caterers.

They're probably holding her here right under our noses.

- What are you doing? - I'm gonna call Walter.

Scopes might have had the phones tapped.

Yes. I suppose I am under suspicion.

Oh, sweetheart this whole thing is making me very nervous.

so if anybody comes looking for me you're gonna have to cover.

I'll just tell them you came to the bad case of pepper.

It doesn't seem that any of these tell us anything more than we already know.

Must have happened pretty fast.

The police have found the catering truck, and they've lifted the full set of prints,

- They belong to Dr. Daniel Westin. - Westin? That's impossible.

And you heard me double check, there's no mistake.

Dr. Westin was also unaccounted for a good part of the day.

But Dr. Westin is one of the country's most respected physicists.

Well. I'm not jumping to any conclusions, Mr. Klae.

But I think I should have a talk with Dr. Westin.

I'm trying to work, captain. I'm behind on my research reports.

on the catering truck which was used to kidnap Carolyn Klae.

- His fingerprints? - Yes, his fingerprints.
