They spotted two people. But unfortunately, there wasn't

a clear enough shot of either of their faces.

>> Hope: Our lab may be able to isolate and enhance the images.

>> Stefan: I'll have my team send the footage over

to the station.

It's important we find these people as soon as possible,

before anyone gets hurt.

>> Leo: Well, is my dad here? I really need to speak with him.

>> Brady: Obviously, he's not here, so, come on, why don't--

>> Leo: John is busy? With what? >> Marlena: Well, he's trying

to track down the woman that tried to kill me.

>> Brady: Is there a lead on Kristen?

see if I can find out anything. >> Leo: How long do you expect

he'll be gone? >> Marlena: I'm not sure.

Why are you so impatient to find him?

>> Leo: Uh, well, I--I don't know if John told you, but...

since I got kicked out of the Kiriakis mansion, I've been

staying at the Salem Inn, which, as you probably know,

isn't cheap. I'm running out of money, fast,

and I need just a little bit to tide me over, just for

a little while. >> Brady: Oh, God,

there was a shooting at the DiMera mansion.

>> Marlena: Is everybody all right?

>> Brady: I don't know, I don't know, but I have to check

on Chloe, okay? >> Marlena: Of course,

I mean, where in the world would you even come up

with this? Especially since that nurse,

that--that Shelly said that Kristen DiMera had threatened

her...and she saw her with her own eyes.

>> John: Hm. So she claimed.

But then you know what happened? Leo came to me, and even he was

wondering if maybe you could be behind this.

Now, as much as I didn't want to believe it, your own son was

pretty convincing that you could easily have...

done something like that. >> Diana: My own son?

Your own son... as you well know, is an angry,

vindictive young man, who would do anything to jump at the

chance to hurt me. And you believed him?

You believed him, when he accused me of attempted murder?

>> John: When Detective Eli Grant came to the hospital,

I--I--I got him and Marlena caught up to speed on my theory,

and I asked him to lift some prints off the IV line.

You know, he said he wasn't sure he could get a clear image.

But I said, you know what, it doesn't really matter,

because once you knew that the IV line was in police custody

there, and you thought there was an outside chance that you

would get caught, you would try to retrieve that evidence.

>> Diana: How would I even find it?

>> John: Well, that was the easy part.

All you had to do was overhear Eli and Lani talking.

Yeah, they knew you were gonna show up at the cop shop, so

they made sure you knew where the evidence was.

They set you up... and you fell for it.

>> Diana: You have no proof. >> John: Not here, no.

Maybe I should just have Detective Grant bring in

Nurse Shelly. He's been questioning her for

the last hour, and boy, can he work somebody, and I'm sure by

now, she's probably cracked.

[dramatic music] ♪ ♪

>> Diana: Okay. Fine. You're right.

I am the one who poisoned Marlena.

>> Rafe: You ought to see this smarmy bastard.

He's always pawing all over her, trying to make her laugh with

his corny jokes. >> Kate: Well, stop him already.

He's the new DA, you know that? He and Hope, they work together.

>> Kate: What? >> Rafe: Mm-hmm.

>> Kate: Who the hell would appoint him DA?

Stefan DiMera is not the only one that questioned

with you anyway? What kind of a psychopath are

you? How long were you plotting to kill Marlena? Ever since you

got back to Salem? >> Diana: John, listen to me,

you have to know this was not premeditated.

None of this. None of this. It just got out of hand.

Yes, I thought that if you knew that Leo was your son, it would

bring us closer together. But it is so obvious that you

were and will always be devoted to Marlena.

I even went to Victor. Yes, I asked him to tell Marlena

that you are Leo's father. >> John: What the hell?

I said I would help Sonny if he would do me just this one

little favor. But as he predicted, it would

It's really important to me to have a good relationship with

my dad and you. [phone ringing]

to protect Matthew and myself from the cruelty and the--

the beatings. God, I wish I had!

But I was drowning, and I didn't know how to save either

and I thought everything would get better, and I thought I

would finally be free of him. But instead, I spiraled down

into a deeper, darker despair. Oh, God.

And then one day, I saw your man spying on me, and he let me

know that my Matthew was now called Leo, and he was living

in Salem. And for the first time,

it gave me hope. >> John: Gave you hope?

What? About me? >> Diana: Yes, because I thought

that fate would bring us together again, and I could

recapture the past, my youth, and all the happiness I've lost.

[sobbing] I realize how desperate I've become,

how sick I've become. And my need and my want for you

We had a comprehensive DNA test done to prove Leo was my son.

I went back to her office a little while later to see if

the penicillin had done the trick, and that's when I found

the DNA test on the desk. And I saw an opportunity to

take a situation and turn it to our favor, so I made the

necessary changes, and I put it back where I found it.

>> Leo: No, no, that-- that can't be right.

You're my father. I know it. >> Diana: Get another test.

You'll find out I'm not lying. You asked me if Leo was your

son, and I thought, "Why not?" Because I knew that you would

honor your obligations as a father, and I thought we might

all be together.
