My name is Bear Grylls.

I served in the British Special Forces,

climbed Mount Everest

and crossed the frozen seas of the Arctic.

Now my challenge is jumping with a parachute in Kenya.

Every year millions of people come here to safaris

Only they do not know is how fast the danger may arise.

I'll show you what you need to survive here.

I'm flying to 6 thousand feet savanna wildlife in northern Kenya.

All years 2 million people come here

to testify the wild beauty of nature.

Many visitors come fauna through balloons.

Recently, one of them fell killing two people and wounding eleven.

Those who survived were lost in a country where, every year,

animal attacks kill 70 people.

I put myself in the position of someone lost in this region.

To show how to survive one of the most dangerous in the world.

Everything I carry is a perdeneira, a knife, water and a camera crew.

The last time I jumped in Africa I left my back in three places.

So this will not be easy.

But I have to do it. So, come on.

This will be a quick landing.

Kenya has about 3000 species of animals.

I'm in northern Kenya where millions of tourists come to explore nature.

But every year, 70 people die due to attacks by wild animals.

In hot climates, if they try floor without water in the power of heat,

may not last more than four hours.

But in case of life or death, there is a trick an old soldier taught me.

is to drink fluids from elephant feces. Pretty disgusting but it can save lives.

I'm on the side of an extinct volcano and I think I see signs of human activity.

I need to get down there but the slope is steep and full of volcanic matter.

The fastest way to get off this and slide.

and fall in a zigzag pattern.

I must have inhaled half of the mountain powder.

My hands are all skinned.

But I got down.

This place was abandoned a lot of time and is not a big surprise.

This crater is a real trap heat.

Here is hotter than up there on the savanna.

What I thought would be signs of habitation were actually old stocks of salt.

But at least there may be something here that can be useful.

This is so brittle and so soft.

And this here, that looks like tar, is actually salt.

They may not look like the one that have at home, clean and refined,

but it is actually the same salt. And if I leave this part here

I use this crust to heal my cut or recovery of any mineral salts -

has lost through sweat. And indeed to serve if they have diarrhea.

I turn to the south toward that mountain.

If they are lost in nature the usual advice is to find a river

and follow the direction to where the river runs to meet people.

And this would result in anywhere the world except Africa.

and they still continue until they disappear beneath the earth

and eventually disappeared.

And if that happened would be really bad.

So the best advice in Africa is doing just the opposite

and go against the current of the river, towards the source to find people.

I am about to enter a new phase of my journey

as the mountain you approach.

This looks much better here. It is much greener.

And it should be here where it gets the way to the foot of the mountain.

These plants are proof that I am close a water source

as well as those baboons there who are always near water safe to drink.

What I'll do is try to find the source and then follow it up the mountain.

Baboons are also signal that there are no large predators around.

Therefore, I find here a well deserved rest.

I've been walking for most of the day and to be honest, I'm pretty tired.

I just need to find somewhere to lie down and rest.

And until this place is not bad. We are near the water.

But the problem of being near the water, are the mosquitoes.

But what I can get and indeed there are many here,

is beggarticks which is an excellent insenticida.

Here is one.

I'll take this and play upon the fire.

Can distinguish them by the oval leaves with prickly edges.

They grow about two feet and when the flowers bloom, have rose petals.

And they help me keep mosquitoes at bay.

Mosquitoes are the most kill people in Africa

due to malaria. This will help me.

Malaria kills about one million Africans a year.

There's a river. No big deal but at least it means I'm in the right place.

Whether to streams or rivers.

And in these streams and rivers I hope people take me up.

And there's more beggarticks I can burning at the stake and use as a repellent.

It's already dark and my best chance shelter is now this tree.

At least I do not get on the floor. Which means that I risk

to be surprised by any large animal.

At least for anything more than a hyena that I can bite my face.

And get to sleep I principio a little because I really needed.

Using my perdeneira, I'm trying faeces of elephant use as fuel.

and I'm trying to find a way to cross it for short distances.

Hippos.

They are one of the most deadly Africa.

I'm in northern Kenya to show how to stay alive.

But now I'm faced with a animal deadliest of Africa.

If I was to this river and tried to cross it

Males are extremely territorial and females extremely protective of their offspring.

Hippos prefer waters deeper and calmer
