I didn't wanna be a MotoGP rider.

I didn't even know what MotoGP was
for a long time as a kid.

My first race was
an Australian Championship in the 125s,

and the next year I was living in Europe.

Mum and Dad had moved
the whole family to Europe.

I was just a kid, I was like 14, 15,
and I was like:

"Shit, I can move to Europe and not go to
school any more. That sounds fantastic!"

I was like: "Yeah, I'll do that."

The more you release, like the more,
let's say, early you release

and commit to the corner,

the chassis will start to work
a little bit better.

Billy's a young guy living at home.

He was doing the Asia Talent Cup
and the Red Bull Rookies Cup.

I knew his dad was racing me.
I said: "Well, I'm living alone."

"I mean, come over and live in the house
if you want. There's no one there."

Because I know how difficult it is
on the other side of the world,

not speaking the language, trying to
understand where you're gonna live,

also not knowing exactly
where to situate yourself.

Paolo and I have known each other
personally for almost 25 years.

Jack had quite a tough early season,

which was definitely below
his expectations, and below ours too.

He had a problem with his forearm,

so he had to get surgery for a condition
that's called compartment syndrome.

The Petronas Yamaha set-up for 2021
is... is an odd one.

Because on one side of the garage, you've
got the legend that is Valentino Rossi,

but he's 42.

And then you've got Franco Morbidelli
on the other side on an A-spec Yamaha,

not equal machinery, but he finished
second in the World Championship.

Something is wrong with this fucking bike.

[Morbidelli] The goal
of a client and rider

that almost won
the World Championship last year

is to win the next World Championship.

But if this client and rider
have the same bike

as they did during the previous year,
it's definitely gonna be more complicated.

[man] As a satellite team, we are leasing
our bikes from the manufacturer.

Yamaha basically decided that
Vale will have the factory bike for 2021

because, you know,
his stature is like that.

And of course, if you want to have
another factory bike, it's extra cost.

On this base, we needed to decide which
bike we wanted to ride. Cost-wise. Point.

These have been used, uh, for FP1, FP2
and FP4 and the qualifying sessions.

and ever since he's been our...

he's really been our beacon.

[Aleix] I left Suzuki after I had been
their official rider for two years,

and then Aprilia called me.

When I signed with Aprilia,
as I was coming from Suzuki,

it felt psychologically
like it was a step backwards,

and once I became familiar with
the company history, where we'd come from,

I realised it's definitely one of the most
important factory teams in MotoGP,

and most importantly
they've had many victories,

and now we're in the process
of winning again.

I hope I get to fight for podiums.

That would mean
that Aprilia is a strong brand

and that it can compete
with the best Japanese bikes.

and to some extent even the tracks
that have brutal braking.

He always shows his magic and his passion

on the kind of tracks
that I just mentioned.

That's the case in Mugello
and in Jerez as well.

I mean, these often
were some key moments for him,

where he got some major wins
and some massive celebrations too.

In Jerez de la Frontera,

he did one of the most brutal brakings
of his entire career.

It's important to bear in mind

that Valentino's a ferocious animal
on the racetrack.

But he's also a very cool-headed animal

who calculates what's on the edge
of being legal and illegal.

And he was tough enough
to let Gibernau take the lead

with an incredible braking in curve 13.

And then he came back in
using his rival's move.

Oh, it became a legendary manoeuvre,

even though Gibernau
may not have appreciated it, of course.

This manoeuvre would probably lead
to a sanction these days.

So, that was a funny moment for Aleix.

And on top of that, it could happen to me,

I also think it could happen
to my brother,

who's one of the people

THE FRENCH GRAND PRIX

[Perry] Everybody knows about Le Mans,
the 24-hour racing.

It's got this incredible history
that goes behind it,

and I'm really glad
that it's on the calendar.

[Day] There is something about Le Mans

that always surprises you
every single year.

The weather is number one.

It could be sunny in the morning,

absolutely tipping down with rain
in the afternoon.

Le Mans always adds some drama
into a MotoGP season.

[Birt] Someone has gone down on circuit,

and it's Aleix Espargaró.

Look at that.
He's just like: "What happened there?"

I just don't get it. I did nothing wrong.
I was going super slow.

It's constantly wiggling,
always wiggling, always.

- I can't change my suit.

I told you we'd change the gas

The thing is, I can't race with this bike.

When I arrive at the box
and I'm very angry and moody,

Antonio knows me well,
we've been working together for so long.

Sometimes he may get very... very upset,

not working and keeping it as a spare one.
