no weapon unless it's under her

missing finger

no marks on the door locks or window

locks

extra neighbor discovered her Mrs bomb

says she knows her

whose sister not who's

[Music]

[Music]

another murder fifth in May

this woman was wearing her habit

s

foreign

first

good morning good morning Chief holiday

just called he wants to see you right

away say why no listen I don't want the

press to find out about the missing

fingers so make sure the officers who

secured the scene keep it to themselves

will do

any information on the serial killer

where was I found how many numbers

what about the autopsy reports what are

they showing what about the corners

report I wish we could solve a case as

fast as you guys find out about it

what about that

it's like you've got yourself a case

tonight

thank you sir

you gotta be very closely scrutinized on

this one serial killing nuns fact that

you're a woman

I see that's not the only reason I

picked you lieutenant clear

perfectly

I want you to put together a task force

pick from the best homicide detectives

in the city any ideas

if you come to mind

what about Mike Donato

no he wouldn't be on my list

surprises me that you dismiss him so

quickly

he is one of the best Lieutenant the

PK's notwithstanding as you said I'll

pick from the best the priority here is

to catch the Killer

a professional is one who can put aside

his personal problems

are you ordering me to take my father

think of it as a suggestion

good luck lieutenant

foreign

I think it needs a little more right

down there in that corner

perfect

that's perfect all right Bellissimo

hey Mom hey I'm getting better aren't I

without a doubt

okay Maestro let's get cleaned up thanks

got some time for me

sure

no thanks

quit

six months ago

right

I should do that

quit drinking too

uh no but I've cut down you didn't come

here to talk about my advices did you

something wrong with me asking about

your health

take it easy Lieutenant you can't expect

to be a good cop and be thin skinned

I can tell you're in rare form today

why does it always come to this

I don't know it didn't used to be this

way

Archbishop O'Malley has been on the

phone to the mayor has been on the phone

to the PC he's talking to Halliday he

wants me to form a task force you're

going to lead the investigation

you want in who have you got so far uh

Bobby Keegan petsky bobbins and Judy you

know the thing about Al Scott a very

good cop

you're better

that's what he say Donato

no it wouldn't work you and me well it

might have you stopped judging me don't

you have it turned around like why did

you just tell me what happened to Tommy

you know there's rumors all over the

street what was it was he dirty I don't

want to talk about it why not don't I

deserve to know the truth he was my

brother I told you all you need to know

can be a break sergeant

[Music]

come on

[Music]

like she was just reaching out for you

she needs to

why do you have to be so tough

you know you think that Dina can take

care of herself but maybe she can't

maybe she needs a little help from you

you've got a funny way of asking he's

always bringing up Tommy Tommy is dead

and she just wants to know why

[Music]

you've told us everything right

right well then please don't cut

yourself off from us like this

we deserve more from you

[Music]

you can meet me in my office you wanted

to see me I beat on neutral ground

one year in this case did not have so I

could spy on my daughter for you no

this is the first big one I have

complete faith in it so do I that's why

I'm letting her alone besides I like it

over there in Rampart transferring you

there was a favor

it's either that or bringing you up on

charges why is up Mike

you need this case as much as I do as

much as Dina does

people actually doesn't paint on my new

shoes I say who's going to pay for this

um

Lieutenant how long is this crap Gonna

Last out here we're taking our lives in

our hands just getting to this office

I'm looking for new space petsky so

let's just try to go with the flow here

all right

um McCartney you team up with petsky

what

you got a problem

no everything's just perfect

first they destroy my desk now I'm

partnered with a skirt careful you might

get busted by one

I'm in the flow Lieutenant I'm in the

flow

bobbins you and Keegan

okay

we're gonna hook up with Dr Stewart here

who's in Atlanta with the Behavioral

Science unit and she's going to give her

opinion about the killer thanks fine

here thanks David

good morning Dr Stewart morning

lieutenant

foreign

all right Dr Stewart ready when you are

I believe we're dealing with a

psychopath surprise surprise

according to the evidence I'd say he's

late 20s or early 30s you could be

married and is highly intelligent

Catholic or more than likely elapsed one

perhaps he suffered some kind of Torment

from a nun as a youth what about the

finger doctor the ring finger indicates

the marriage to Christ might be

significant but doesn't have to be

Psychopaths like to do bizarre things

they like souvenirs they want something

to look at in privacy if he is married

wouldn't his wife suspect him this

person has probably been a psychopath

from early childhood but he's never been

diagnosed I have no doubt that he passes

for an average person

his thinking is highly rational even

though his motivation isn't so why now

he's probably killed before maybe not as

sensationally

but killing a nun attracts attention

the newspapers have picked up on it and

he's hot news Dr Stewart you said before

that he's intelligent

would you say he's egotistical arrogant

I have no doubt that he probably is

he probably thinks that he's smarter

than you that you're nothing but a bunch

of idiots

the problem with a serial killer is that

after the first killing however it was

triggered that motivation can disappear

and the killing itself becomes the

purpose because the killer enjoys

himself and cannot stop

he does not want to stop

the profile Stewart gave us not the one

I'm going to release to the Press

you're gonna try to provoke him right

right you think it's smart to force his

hand no matter what we say or do he's

gonna kill again if he's arrogant he'll

know it's a challenge

maybe just maybe his ego will trip him

up plus we still hold back the missing

finger info so

who's going to team up with Sergeant

Donato I am

let's do it

the house running out of Mike she misses

you ever since you moved in with that

guy You Don't Come Around Much Anymore

yeah

and what about you and Dina not you too

we're working together what more do you

want hey hey I got my 20 in the Donato

family and I'm not retiring yet and I

don't think you are either

anyhow Dina is fine

and how would you know you asked her

lately

I'll see you later

as you all know on the evening of

January 7th

body of sister Angelica was discovered

murdered in her apartment later that

same evening another Nun Sister Mary

Joseph was found in a parking lot

downtown both victims were sexually

assaulted and stabbed repeatedly the

Halliday has put me in charge of the

task force to investigate these crimes

do you think this is the work of a

serial killer yes so how about a motive

Lieutenant I could only give you

conjecture at this point we're still

putting together our forensic evidence

and we're speaking to everyone who knew

the victims even slightly a motive will

surface you can count on it so what's

being done to protect the nuns we're

doing everything we can to safeguard

them so what you're saying is that all

nuns in La have nothing to fear I

wouldn't presume to say that about

anyone in L.A

were these premeditated murders that

would appear so yes so there has to be a

motive I didn't say there wasn't I said

I didn't want to speculate however we do

have theories and we have put together a

psychological profile of the murderer we

give it to us with him

he's probably in his late 20s early 30s

unmarried a loner has below average

intelligence and holds a menial job if

any we believe he's a psychopath

we've got to start in the office

tomorrow what I've got a deadline well

where are we supposed to go there's a

space for you it's it's not great but

that's all we have

well well where did you do her

oh I never heard that one before

it's for you

kind of Donato

what do you mean you're not picking up

Cal

it's your weekend I'm counting on you

fine fine Gino just do what you want you

always do anyway

foreign

yeah

Lieutenant it's for you again line one

what now Gino

who is this

line one

[Music]

well if you think that maybe we can meet

and talk about it

I don't think I could do that now see

I'm too busy parking cars and washing

dishes you know it's like Lieutenant

just another day in the life of an

Indigent psychopath what do you want I'm

busy first let me start by complimenting

you on your outfit

attractive

that's a nice touch too

such understated Elegance for a

detective I'm impressed so you're a

peeper so what oh I do more than look

I do a lot more you're not married

why I just noticed you weren't wearing

the ring

but don't worry Tina I've got a couple

of spare

you can get it

tell us about your sister's visit Birch

just visit yeah

how did she say

how did she sing she happy trouble angry

Gretchen was always happy Gretchen

my sister

that was her real name

she couldn't be sister Gretchen so she

chose Angelica

Angelica

could live up to that name

okay but after she arrived what happened

how'd you spend the afternoon

we we went for a walk

how long did you walk

how long

you want to know how long the walk was

yes

half an hour

and a half

two hours looked

they don't win anything only you know

the answer an hour

what'd you do after the walk

after the walk

please vote answer the question

I went home

where's your sister go

where did she go

she walked back to her home which way

did she walk

she walked back to her home

here

notify us before you leave town if you

leave town leave town and come down to

Central tomorrow and give us your state

where would I go you come down to

Central look for the elevator or the

staircase come up to the second floor

that you said don't leave town where

would I go

foreign

[Music]

this one's had to anytime you want to go

one-on-one bombs you let me know

a bad man bring it on hey Judy

pour me a cup of coffee would you

do I look like your mother oh I like her

I like this lady

partner I'm afraid so

you guys imagine having your daughter as

a boss

true

good morning lieutenant

all right let's get started well

forensic determined that both nuns were

stabbed with the same weapon probably a

boning knife also used to cut off their

ring fingers so we know our killer hates

nuns what's the mo he stabs and then he

strangles because of the beads the

rosary yeah but the rapes come first

both women fought back those attacks

were vicious 17 wounds why did he open

up their blouses why didn't he just stab

them for the cloth the wounds show up

better on naked skin shout to him

us photographers anybody who would look

Fame right all right anything else

um no weapon or a separate finger found

within a 10 block radius believe it or

not nobody and sister Angelica's

building heard or saw anything Mike

there was no evidence of forced entry

there it wasn't nope

something

and

there we go and a blonde head hair was

found mixed with sister Mary Josephs

both hairs belonging to the same guy

something but it won't hold up in court

yeah but the match puts the purp right

into Dr Stewart's profile plus forensic

zeroed in on a hairspray gentle Mist the

lieutenant means we can start narrowing

in on the Suspects

[Music]

all right let's get to the shopping list

Judy you and petsky take the blondes

past present sex offenders I used to

like blondes lieutenant any more of

those phone calls no but if he calls

again I'll give him your number Penske

search on anything that resembles our

guys Mo got it I'll go to the halfway

house and interview they had none there

oh uh by the way if you have any

snitches

check with him hey bobbins we got lunch

at 12 30 right

yeah sergeant

Sergeant don't act like my interpreter

this is going to work you and me don't

treat me like a child

in the future don't explain me you get

it

you got it

by the way I already checked with the

halfway house

Sister Margaret can't meet us till this

afternoon

see you there at three

how's it working with your dad oh you're

not Mike

you two are like two prize Fighters

afraid to throw a punch

every time we get close he shuts down

then of course I walk away my father

like daughter I like hell

maybe he doesn't say much but you gotta

know he loves you

gave a lot to tell me I know and I was

there

I'll love Tommy everyone loved Tommy

Tommy's death isn't the only problem

here Hina you know it

you just never wanted me to become a cop

in the first place yeah but when you and

Tommy wanted to join the support of you

guys he was just being a protective

followed you didn't think I could cut it

he still doesn't how do you know you

ever ask him oh all right McCartney all

right time's up session's over

but what about you

well I've been sick a lot lately

you seen the doctor

and

she said to start painting the extra

room

oh no

oh my God

it's me static it's getting a boy

he's really wanted this for a while I am

so happy for you oh are you gonna get

married I guess I'll have to now well

you don't have to

so you need anything

you want to go through labor for me

[Music]

um

just pull that ass

[Music]

really Jack

give me five here

foreign

well it's uh

kind of a long road since the old days

you know yeah it looks like you're

staying dry

um

I was kind of wondering when you might

come by yeah well you know if any were

working all the angles

I thought you might have noticed a

Drifter or Richard or mayor's type

coming through the line somebody who

looked like they needed to make a

confession you know

I get good confession yeah Vinny it was

the best

listen

you still have your collar

why do you ask Mike I want you to do

something for me I want you to poke

around the churches and the convents see

if you can maybe detect a priest in

trouble something like that

I haven't had that collar on for years

we're all time safely here

take this you have to get out of here

get some fresh air sunshine

just for a while anyway

Mike

thanks

sister Angelica was a very fine nun

she served our lord for 13 years

like your job

yeah I suppose we do

day after day you see man it is worse

don't you

it's almost as if you were intimate with

evil

sometimes too close sister Angelica have

any enemies no no

of course not

anybody particularly difficult

certainly there were some kids she had

to punish

you were taught by nuns lieutenant

yes we don't use corporal punishment

anymore

there's many different kinds of

punishment sister

ridicule humiliation in front of the

class

the names we needed

sister

two nuns have been raped and mutilated

I'll try

again

it's an emergency got a lead from the

halfway house kid named Posey came in

off coked up Sister Angelica threw him

out he threatened to kill her too bad

Posey doesn't fit the profile my miles

have been wrong before maybe we ought to

check it out well we got nothing to lose

by following it up we wait too long he

may vote

it's your call lieutenant

foreign

[Music]

fuzzy it's the police

open up

[Music]

[Music]

hold it he's coming out of the window

he's on the fire escape he's got a gun

take the stairs

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

this is gonna be fine

Judy shot officer involved in shooting

in an ambulance

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

she's gone

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

thank you

what'd you find a lot of guns let's have

the toilet tank a waterproof bag with at

least two pounds of Coke

so that's why that dirt bag ran it's

more bad news Arch he was in jail when

sister Angelica was wet

didn't have anything to do with the

murdered nuns

[Music]

foreign

should have checked him out first

we follow these that's what we do you

don't believe that

you know I could have objected more

but I didn't because I wanted to get

that guy as badly as you it was stupid

he died for no reason

you're gonna grow old thinking of

reasons Dina

I was watching at the funeral

looked A Million Miles Away

what were you thinking about

Tommy

me too

he didn't have to die

what went wrong

I don't know

right

you ever wish it was me who died instead

of Tommy

how can you ask me that

five minutes I'm meeting with both the

mayor and the Archbishop what have we

got a lot of leads we've got a lot of

bogus confessions what we don't have is

a lot of luck Lieutenant we've lost a

fine police movement we're not again but

closer to finding this maniac and your

idea is to get him mad at you why didn't

you tell me what you were going to do

sir we know he's going to kill again I'm

trying to draw him out

you see he'll want to correct our image

of him which means he'll be even smarter

maybe not his ego might trip him up

or he might even appear on the scene you

know as a Lucky Loop

I don't know

you really think this can work Mike wait

this is not his decision it's mine

if you don't like it take me off the

case

okay Lieutenant wrong with it but if we

have no progress by the end of the week

that's exactly what I'll do you

understand yes sir

foreign

[Music]

how much longer do I have to keep

playing the piano I thought you liked it

it's okay but

I want to be a cop when I'm over

I'm a piano player

Cal you don't want to be a cop

why not

that's a lot of hard work

worry about you all the time you do that

anyway mom

I want to be like you and Grandpa

hey maybe the three of us can even work

together

come here

[Music]

foreign

laughs

foreign

you okay

what

I want you to get your coat something I

want to show you and here we'll watch

Kell

[Music]

her name was sister Anna Marie

sure it's our guy pretty sure it's not

much blood we'll get her somewhere else

and not in town knows what's going on

doesn't get close to them well they

gotta know him

I think they do

all he needs is a monk to fool them

right here

by my neighborhood

he's leading us on

he knows exactly what he's doing

[Music]

hello

Ma

what are you doing here

I just wanted to see you we haven't

talked since Judy's funeral well I can't

talk about that now I've got an

appointment

all right well I'll I'll walk out with

you

suit yourself

mom what's wrong nothing's wrong

I'm just tired of sitting here and

staring at empty rooms that's all

I'm tired of writing letters of

condolence

and I'm tired of sitting here waiting

for that next knock on the door that's

going to tell me who else I've lost

mom come on wait let's talk about this

talk

did you know that your father was once

quite a talker

we talked about family and honor and

love everlasting

and I fell in love with him

now we talk about talking and nobody

says anything

my father would have set Mike up for

life he could have inherited a

multi-million dollar business but no he

had to be a cop he had to have the

thrill of going out on stakeouts and

hunting down suspects anything but

success

maybe being a first grade detective

Sergeant is success to him you ever

think of that

Mom it's been a rough time for him first

Tommy then being busted down to Rampart

why was your father busted down to

rampartina do you know yes he led a

suspect get beaten up in an

investigation and the guy nearly died

that's right ubp a drug dealer but why

was Peak almost beaten to death do you

know

I don't know

one night when your father was asleep I

found Peaks file

and your brother's name

was attached to his phone record

not once but many times

did you asked Dad about

no

I was afraid of what I might find out

oh do you know I'm so sick of cops come

on wait

Tommy's dead Dina

that's all that really matters to me

and it was all pointless

because he never should have been a cop

he wasn't cut out to be a cop

he never really wanted to be a cop

he did it to please his father

why are you doing it Dina

Donna

this is Sergeant Donato

and Donna saw something you might like

to know

you're not just trying to hustle a fix

are you hey man you don't want it I'll

take it someplace else

I'm waiting for this dude

this guy's gonna score for me you know

and he's late so I'm hanging out mostly

afternoon

waiting

and I seen one of them nuns going by

going where did this building cross the

street well the first man got murdered

so I think maybe

so

so I heard whether maradon was this tiny

little thing

yeah he's gone

so the one I saw going into building

she's real tall

how tall I just told you man I'm real

tall what am I a human technician all I

want to know is how tall that nun was I

told you

this nun was big for none

do you mean big for a woman

yeah

yeah

big for a woman

[Music]

all right everyone listen up

you all know Al Scott he's gonna be

coming on board with us now

we have reason to believe that our guy

was disguising himself as a nun you

gotta be kidding me sloppy that's right

so what we got to do is go through all

the receipts of all the costume shops in

Los Angeles for the past five years we

are looking for a man who bought a nuns

costume probably using a fake name if

we're lucky he used his real name

I know it's a lot of drudge work but

unless we come up with something

Halliday is taking us off the case what

the hell he will I didn't lose a partner

and bust my butt on this case so some

other jerks come along and take the

credit for what we've all done

all right

so I'm on today

and

you said something about

Tommy's death and the pink case being

connected

you know anything about this

you know I really don't want to discuss

it

when do you want to discuss it

some other time

all right sergeant

just remember life is short

and then you die

[Music]

over there on the desk it arrived by

messenger 20 minutes ago addressed the

cow

I'm gonna believe it

all right

tonight

do you think he's gonna try to hurt you

oh I doubt that

I'm not going to take any chances with

you Dina norkel what about Dina

how are you going to protect her she'll

be with me

you should let us say anything to her

about you be Peak

foreign this isn't about Peak

this is about us

[Music]

I think that

that we should take advantage of this

time while I'm gone

trying to figure out exactly what it is

we want from each other

I know what I want I want for us to stay

together

well that's good Mike

[Music]

but they're going to have to be some

changes

foreign

okay

[Music]

I want to come home with you

sorry honey you can't do that right now

but I promised you you'll only be at

Aunt Carol's a little while okay this

has something to do with these murders

give me a break okay

we don't want to protect me from the

truth not a baby anymore

don't you think I know you could kill

like Uncle Tommy

[Music]

no you're worried about that sure I

worry who's gonna worry if I don't

[Music]

foreign

I know it's hard it's hard on me too he

is my grandson

that you can't make it personal

your emotions will get in the way I'm

gonna get that 600 [ __ ] I swear it Nina

you stay here with me security is

tighter oh what were you gonna put me my

old room's filled with pain

stay in Tommy's room

foreign

[Music]

excuse me sister should walking alone

yes I know I've been behind schedule all

day I have scored through to your

destination I'm just four blocks from

home officer well we've been given

special instructions to extend

protection to all sisters of Faith so

I'd only be following orders if you let

me walk you home

thank you you're very kind all right

[Music]

silence

[Music]

the super says that there's a

photographer in the penthouse his name

is Kim Lyle it seems that he likes to

dress up in costumes and party Donato

and I will start there work our way down

you guys are at the bottom work your way

up and take the rest yeah

we found a murdered nun in your elevator

what now you heard you like to wear

costumes if you have some kind of

dress-up outfit like a nun salmon

I have a cape I do not have a nuns habit

what is this Nazi Germany are you really

allowed to search my apartment without a

warrant we're not searching your

apartment Mr Lyle if I was to search

this apartment you'd really know it you

want us to search the apartment can we

see the cape please

you have nothing to

do

today is your bathroom

it's in there

where were you last night

I was home

wait wait wait wait wait I'm not a

suspect am I is anyone with you

oh no wait who would kill someone in the

elevator of his own building

you don't really think I would do that I

lay unlikely unless of course the killer

was taunting the police

I'll tell you what we can eliminate you

as a suspect by letting forensic come in

here and look the place over you might

want to call your

love all right yes fine they can come in

can I get dressed

the bathroom was a mess

these are some god-awful hair gel stand

up a set of your golf clubs of that junk

yes Los Angeles police

you don't think someone in this building

did it do you why would someone murder

someone and then put the body in an

elevator in his own building

we're not sure did you hear any strange

noises outside the elevator last night

no my wife and I went to bed rather

early what do you do for a living Mr

Laurie

I'm a vice president and a Financial

Consultant at Cornell Loring a

lieutenant

I'm sorry but you know all that coffee I

had this morning it's finally caught up

with me

can I use your bathroom

of course right in there on the left

Mr Laurie

I'm Lieutenant tip for Tad if I ask you

a question and you answer me then it

feels more like a conversation less like

an interrogation

yes I'm Catholic then you must have an

even more personal reason to want to

catch this maniac

my wife Andrea this is Lieutenant Donato

what nice to meet you

it's a nun found murdered in our

building oh my God

my wife Andrew

Lori I'm with her said he might we bring

some people in here to examine the

apartment what for they're looking for

evidence

or you don't suspect us do you I mean

calm down Andrea they're just doing

their job at this point everybody's a

suspect isn't that right Lieutenant

that's right however I do think it'd be

more appropriate if you got a hold of a

search warrant first that way we keep

everything nice and tidy that's fine

it'll be fine with me

so what do you think of our neighbor Mr

Lyle well like you said everybody

you seem to know a lot about police

procedure

I guess it's all that reality

programming on the tube I think that's

all we need thank you Mrs Laurie Mr

Lauren goodbye hope you got your man oh

we will good luck lieutenant

foreign

put a tail on him and run a deep check

let's find out where Lauren comes from

we're gonna go down the nose around

where he works

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

hi there

what are you driving at Miss Lieutenant

Donato I'm a busy man I'm a busy woman I

assure you Mr Cornell my questions are

important

my wife doesn't care for Russ Lauren is

that what you want to know why not to

find some coal and you Mr Cornell do you

find him cold I find him just fine

welcome to know where Mr Lauren was on

the evening of the 7th

Grace ask Irene to bring Russ's

appointment booking here yes sir now

we'll see how ridiculous the questions

really are

what are you doing here I just met

Robert Cornell your partner and Irene

your secretary very nice group you're

talking about me weren't you yes they

said some interesting things about you

I hate so you waste your time Lieutenant

oh I waste a lot of my time Mr Lauren

sometimes

I get lucky

well I hope you don't force me to call

my lawyer it's a problem I think this

qualifies as harassment it's doing my

job why don't you go back upstairs and

do yours don't pick smug with me

oh no this is a problem

if you didn't remove your hand I will

arrest you for assault

sorry

we've checked out every costume joint in

this town that has rented or sold a

nun's habit in the past five years

we checked the most recent first we came

up with three purchases in the last year

two of them check out

one Keith Lang

does not check out

right address wrong name come on pesky

let's have it

13101 Wilshire that's what we found the

body this morning we finally get a break

okay

I think

Keith Lang is rest Loring the bastard is

taunting us he's saying I'm so good you

can't catch me even if I laid you right

to my front door no but Kim Lyle's

initials fit perfectly Russ Lauren does

not I go with the LIE the guy's a flake

my money's on Lori you remember what he

said about the elevator Lyle said who

would kill somebody in the elevator in

his own building

but Lauren said who would put a body in

the elevator in his own building

what's the difference well everybody

assumed that the body is found where the

killing took place like wildhead could

be a manner of speech I don't think so

me neither he thinks he's brilliant and

we're dumb he's everything Dr Stewart

said he'd be Loring physically

confronted the lieutenant this morning

in his office building

now I think he might feel that he went

too far so let's just keep pushing him

bobbins stick with your pal Lyle thank

you petsky Scott keep searching the

database for similar Mo's where Lauren

used to live

Donato might as well take his hometown

see

Piru Arizona

Keegan let's set up a tail let's go keep

an eye on her while I'm going yes sir

cheap Stone

Sergeant Donato Los Angeles police been

a long time since anybody called me

Chief ten years retired

you've come to ask me about Russ Lauren

yeah how'd you know that you've been

poking your head around

and nothing happens in this town I don't

know about about Russ has he ever been

in trouble with the law here I thought

we had something on him once never

panned out

anything to do with rape or mutilation

no

no well that was that girl that

disappeared once did Russ know her they

went together during High School

Dorothy Wells decent girl nice family

everybody knew there was something

strange about Russ Dorothy was the only

girl would go out with him well he was a

real charmer but spoiled got what he

wanted

she tried to break up with him after

about a year

Dorothy's mother told me he did

everything he could to change your mind

and he turned real nasty mean kid

one day Dorothy didn't show up for

school full Town searched for

we never found him

did you investigate Russ

couldn't prove nothing

or his mother Adele

what a piece of work that woman is swore

Russ was home with her the whole night

uh it's awful hard on a small town like

this

someone they know disappears Into Thin

Air no explanation and then later on

they start to realize who done it but

there ain't anything anybody can do

this makes me sick

I'll tell you something else too there

was something awful suspicious about the

way his father Ken died

his father's name was Ken yeah

Ken Loring

he spotted me he's in

he's right below stay with him Scott

foreign

yes

I'm Sergeant Donato Los Angeles police

you about him and about Dorothy Wells

that's all I've been done with

the bridge

what do you think

I must have gotten or I suppose what do

you mean Gartner

why are we going over all this whole

ground well Mrs Lloyd we think your son

may have been killing women in Los

Angeles

that's true

I arrested him

just a matter of time

in other words you haven't gotten the

evidence

and you expect me to stand here and help

you

it's the same thing all over again

what do you mean same thing all over

again

person like you can't understand a

person of rest of quality don't you care

that your son may be killing women

I'm sure none of them is worth what Russ

is worth

what happened that night Mrs Loring

did your son lose it and then killed

Dorothy she was a person of no quality

at all none she may have had this whole

town full but not me not Russ either

Dorothy was a Catholic wasn't she didn't

I tell you

she decided to leave town she was going

to become a nun isn't that a laugh kind

of like the garbage man pretending he

didn't stink

you knew exactly what your son did but

you wouldn't say a word would you I

don't know what you're talking about

Russ was at home with me that night did

he kill your husband too

if he did it was no great loss I can

assure you the man was a monster

um Mrs

how do you sleep at night like an angel

Sergeant just like an angel

and now I think it's time for you to get

the hell out of here

he'll try and stop me

[Music]

where the hell is he

the secretary just locked out the door

the office is all dark he didn't come

out this way

[Music]

thank you

you guys want to come over here and have

a look

these are the victims before they became

nuns

can you see what they all have in common

women they're they're pretty women

they're white women about the same age

they have dark hair they they all kind

of look alike that's right they look

alike right

oh look at this

this is Dorothy Wells

you know something sergeant looks like

they all could have come from the same

family

she looks a little like you too

lieutenant

[Music]

there's a composite sketch in The

Costume Company it's not much it could

be anybody

yeah it could be anybody but I bet if we

show this to Laurie he'll see yomi

himself

Lieutenant five years ago Laurie lived

in West Texas a couple of nuns same Mo

The Killing stopped soon after he left

town

bogey at 12 o'clock

and Donato

Martin Reddick Russ loring's attorney

for a restraining order from Judge

Thomas Belmont ordering you and the rest

of the LAPD to stop your surveillance of

my clients

if you have evidence arrest him if not

leave him alone have you seen your

client today counselor

why we'd like to ask him some questions

he said all he's going to say to you

lieutenant he's minding his own business

need I say more

[Music]

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

[Music]

let's check around hey

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

I'll take this side

[Music]

did she find anything oh he's gone

kill that son of a [ __ ]

you would because I would doesn't mean

you should why not

come on

fine I'm all right I'm fine

this is exactly what Mom is always

afraid of isn't it

yeah I suppose

that you know you can deal with fear

it's the unexpected the things you can't

imagine that gives you

like Tommy

you've been wanting to know about Tommy

I'll tell you

you know Tommy's life turned a bad

corner and I didn't know how to handle

it

he didn't get shot

your brother oh deed

when I found him he was still in his

uniform with a needle stuck up his arm

there was a note lying beside him that

said goodbye that's all just goodbye

so I burned it and then I tracked down

his dealer

UV Pig

that's what happened you had him beaten

up on purpose we had enough on Peak to

put him away for a long time but that

wasn't enough for me and that's why I

rearranged his face

should have known

he could have told me I would have

understood I couldn't tell you your

brother was a junkie

I couldn't tell your mother I couldn't

tell anybody

that's why I covered it up

I guess I shouldn't have pushed him into

becoming a cop it would have been

things would have been different

if something was wrong I didn't do

a thing

my whole life

I felt like I had to fight for your

approval and it seemed like the harder I

thought

the more Tommy got

and I blamed him and I Blame You Dina

can't you see you were the strong one

I know you're gonna be okay but Tommy

Tommy needed help

I guess I failed you both

oh no

no

you didn't fail me

I just needed to know that you loved me

oh

I always love again I still love you

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

distribution into development again for

the first time in at least four years

where people have been really relevant

about getting involved especially in

downtown everyone got so dead and then

foreign

excuse me

here he comes

well what brings you here having some

lunch

Spanish omelette I recommend it why

don't you join us Russ

you're harassing me again oh we don't

harass but there are a couple holes in

your Alibi clients not meeting you

things like that well they must be

mistaken

we also found a Keith Lang who bought a

nuns habit and a police uniform

I don't know any Keith Lang how about

Dorothy how'd you feel when Dorothy

dumped you to become a nun Russ

so you've been checking out my

background what do you suppose happened

to her

I haven't the Vegas idea

you remember Chief Stone he's looking

into it again he thinks maybe he might

have missed something well he won't find

anything because there is nothing to be

found oh

there was an eyewitness several people

saw the Killer describe until the police

artist people saw the Killer

can you identify that guy

[Music]

good jackass you think I don't recognize

myself

we thought it looked like you

that's why we're trying it out in Texas

today you used to live in Texas didn't

you Russ what's more water good no

thanks

listen carefully

I know my rights you two better back off

you're gonna be facing one hell of a

lawsuit

coming out stick with them

I don't like it there's evidence in that

apartment and he destroys it before we

get there we're dead

get the check I'll meet you there

looking for this

thank you

what are you doing with this

come here Andrea

[Music]

come on

here she is

on his way did you get the Warren Scott

should let the judge's office Lawrence

lawyer heard about it was causing

problems oh damn it all right Bob and

pets can't cover the exes Keegan see if

we can find a window across the street

that looks into Laurie's apartment I'm

gonna stall until the Lauren gets here

what do you mean you can't go in there

hell I can't

foreign

[Music]

gets here

foreign

it's not your cost Sergeant it's mine

yes

IXL Lieutenant Donato Mr Lauren

yeah that warrant lieutenant

no sir but I would like to talk to you

for a moment

here we are once again it must be Kismet

I came to apologize oh you did did you

it seems that we were wrong about you

right after you left we got worried that

the killer had been found he turned

himself in

no yes so I was hoping to convince you

not to pursue this harassment charges

may I

by all means I mean please

[Music]

I'm gonna take a coat yes thank you

okay with some coffee

that would be wonderful

I just plan thank you

[Music]

Keegan can you see them I got them

everything's fine

and the thing that looks funny you give

me a yell

so you made a little mistake

yes yes I know we pushed you kind of

hard sometimes when it's a high profile

case like this we kind of get carried

away

all I can tell you is it wasn't personal

we're just trying to catch a killer

I can understand that

a little Cutthroat in my line of work

too sometimes

foreign

you know I have to be honest with you

lieutenant

if it had been anybody else I probably

would have slammed the door right in

their face but

[Music]

I haven't been able to take my eyes off

of me from the first time I saw you

all right you're a married man

what would your wife say if she could

hear me now

possibly

in San Diego this

[Music]

am I embarrassing you

no no I just think that I said what I

came to say

[Music]

don't go Lieutenant just getting to know

each other come on Keegan talk to me

what's happening

towards the living room

get your helicopter but don't you hurt

a helicopter up there and now this is

what I want you to tell them to do

[Music]

Keegan Mr Loring has been stabbed he's

lost a lot of blood

[Music]

oh give it up Lori

if I give it up Lieutenant you'll be the

first to know we're either going up or

we're going down

[Music]

[Music]

the chop is on its way let's take it

easy stay back you come any closer and

we're over the edge you know I'll do it

blow him away Donato come on Lori let

her go you can use me for a hostage are

you kidding me no no if I take a dive

I'd much rather be holding on to her and

watching you

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

okay

it's nothing I'm falling apart

you're one hell of a cup
