A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES

EPISODE 39

This steak is so delicious. How can it be this good?

I'm so happy today.

Every time I see you eat, I feel like the food tastes even better.

They really taste good.

Out of all the girls I know,

nobody is as lively as you are when they're eating.

Not my mom, my sister or Jing.

That's because you eat on a really long table.

Everybody just focuses on eating. You can't see each other's expressions.

Of course it's not lively.

Then how should we eat?

The most ideal situation is when eating the Chongqing hot pot.

Everyone surrounds the pot.

The food is just within reach.

Everyone's faces are so red and happy.

That sounds interesting.

Haven't you had hot pot before?

Nonsense. Of course I have.

But we each had our own pot.

Let's go eat hot pot next time.

Sure.

Are you full?

Yes.

Bill, please.

Please wait a moment.

Daoming Si.

I'll pay for my share.

What are you talking about? I'm treating my girlfriend.

Please enter your password.

Sorry, sir. Can you try again?

Sorry, sir. It still doesn't work.

Does your machine have a problem?

I have a suggestion.

We have an Ultimate Friday promo for BOCOM credit cards.

Do you have one?

BANK OF COMMUNICATIONS

Let me pay.

Use mine.

PAY MERCHANT

All right.

She has started to take action.

My mom has started to take action.

Mobile payment doesn't work. My credit cards might not work either.

This is not right.

It's impossible as well.

The look on Daoming Si's face completely changed.

But I won't take a step back this time.

I've made my decision.

No matter what happens, I have to bravely move forward.

Daoming Si.

No matter what happens after this,

I just want to treasure every moment with you.

I won't be shaken by your mom.

Si's funds have been cut.

-Where are they now? -We're not sure yet.

-Look for them immediately. -Yes, ma'am.

-We're here. -Yes.

Shoot.

-It's so much fun. -Are you happy?

I haven't had so much fun in a long time.

It's good that you're happy.

It's getting late. I should go.

I'll take you home.

What should I make for lunch tomorrow?

I always have a hard time deciding.

You still make your own lunch?

Yes.

I'm used to eating something I make myself.

By the way, should I cook for you too?

Sure. If you want to.

I'm used to eating bad tasting food anyway.

Does the food I make taste bad?

All right.

See you at lunchtime in the bridge room tomorrow.

I'll go inside.

Shancai.

Kiss me.

Kiss you?

Now?

There's nobody here. Why not?

I'll do it next time.

Sometimes, there are no next times.

Why are you saying something so unfortunate?

Okay, fine.

See you tomorrow.

Come out.

You don't seem to be the usual bodyguards at my house.

CALLING: LEI

It's Si.

Hello?

Please come with us.

This is your mother's command.

DAOMING SI

All right. I'll go with you.

But if you dare to hurt Dong Shancai,

I'd surely make you pay for it.

Shancai.

Kiss me.

What should I make for Daoming Si's lunch?

I know.

I'll make him the Squid King's grilled squid.

Why am I so clumsy?

What's going on?

Didn't we agree to have lunch together?

It's already 12:30 p.m.

Ximen?

Why are you here in school?

Why are you all here?

Did something happen?

Si temporarily left Mingde.

Left Mingde?

Yesterday, we still...

We think his mom found out about you two.

The reason why we came here is because Lei received a strange phone call yesterday.

What kind of phone call?

Si called him yesterday but didn't say a word.

We heard him telling someone not to hurt you.

So we know something happened to Si.

DAOMING SI

Please come with us.

This is your mother's command.

All right. I'll go with you.

But if you dare to hurt Dong Shancai,

I'd surely make you pay for it.

Si must have called Lei to let us know he's gone.

After this happened, I went to Si's house.

They said

that Si already went back to London.

Went back to London?

Why did this happen?

Everything was fine yesterday.

See you tomorrow.

I'll try calling Ms. Zhuang again.

I haven't been able to reach her all morning.

If Ms. Zhuang knows what's happening,

she would've immediately tried to contact us.

You know their family situation.

Ms. Zhuang cannot change whatever Si's mom has decided.

Shancai.

So...

what do you plan to do?

Every single time,

it's Daoming Si who has been protecting me...

and loving me.

I never did anything for him.

This time,

I won't just wait for him.

I'm going to London...

to fulfill our promise to each other.

Are you sure?

This is serious.

You're going to face Daoming Feng.

She can deport you from England with a flick of her finger.

No one would be able to help you. It might end badly for you.

I need to see Daoming Si no matter what happens.

You're all here.

-Did you bring your passport? -Yes.

Have you booked a place to stay?

I booked it in Airbnb.

I've already contacted the landlady. It will be fine.

Shancai.

We came to see you off in person, aren't we nice?

Meng Jiangnü brought down the Great Wall with her tears.

You traveled a thousand miles to look for your boyfriend.

What a nice tale.

Bring down the Great Wall with tears?

Daoming Si's still alive.

By the way, Shancai,

we'll take care of Xiaoyou and Qinghe's families.

No need to thank me. I'm just naturally nice.

Don't use this chance to take advantage of Xiaoyou.

All right.

My ride is here.

I need to get to the airport.

Thanks for coming.

Shancai.

Call us when you arrive.

Call us when you reach the place you're staying at.

Also, call us when you see Si.

Okay.

Just try it. How do you know it's not good?

Hurry up. My arm is aching.

You're so pushy.

Beg me.

Beg me and I'd consider staying in Shanghai for you.

You'll stay if I beg you?

You silly girl.

Why are you so stupid? You want me to say everything.

You're the stupid one here.

What do you want me to say?

You should say,

"Can you not go to London?

Can you go to graduate school and wait for me to graduate?

Can you stay with me forever after I graduate?"

Sleep beside me like this.

-What are you doing? Let go. -No.

-Let go. -No.

If you want to run away, I'll chase after you.

If you run to Mars,

I'll go there too.

I'm also thinking why loving someone has to be so hard.

Why should I torture myself this way?

However...

Your determination and perseverance moved me.

I'm not able to hate you.

This time,

I should also be ready to fight for my future.

Now, it's my turn. Even if you go to Mars,

I'd surely come and find you.

I must find Daoming Si.

Please let me find him.

Hello? Lei, I've already arrived.

I'm going to the rental home later.

Do you have all your luggage?

Yes. I checked before I left the airport.

How about your wallet?

It's in my bag. It's just within reach.

Also, don't lose your passport.

I placed my passport in the inner part of my luggage.

Don't worry.

I'm afraid you'll get lost before you even find Si.

Call me when you get to the place you're staying.

The landlady already sent me the map. I'll let you know when I get there.

Hey!

Stop!

Thief!

Hey!

Stop right there!

Hey!

Thief, stop!

Stop!

Hey!

Stop running!

Hey!

Hey!

Thief!

What should I do?

Without the navigation map,

I won't be able to find the place I'm staying at.

LONDON CHINATOWN

EIGHT TREASURES SPICY NOODLES

For how many people?

I...

I...

Can you give me some water?

Of course. Yue, come here.

Please give this cute girl some water.

All right.

Be careful. It's hot.

-Thank you. -Be careful. It's hot.

Drink slowly.

Are you all right?

Yes.

You look so pale.

One more, please.

What's your name?

My name is Dong Shancai.

Dong Shancai?

Yes.

What a familiar name.

Dong Shancai.

Because there was a very popular series before.

The female lead's name was Shancai.

She lived happily ever after. So my mom named me Shancai too.

I knew it. I saw that series too.

It was so popular then.

And many people told me that I look like that female lead's mom.

What do you think?

Did you come to London alone? For vacation?

No.

I came to look for someone.

Your boyfriend?

Yes.

He must be a very nice boy.

He is.

Sometimes, he's so nice that I feel like I don't deserve him.

Goodness.

Why would you say that?

You look like a nice girl.

You also deserve to be happy.

Thank you, ma'am.

But why are you selling Eight Treasures Spicy Noodles here?

Because I have a friend who likes it.

So I tried to make it for him.

I never thought my customers would like it too.

So it became our signature dish.

Do you want some?

I do.

But...

But I...

Shancai.

Thomas.

Shancai.

Is he your friend? Your boyfriend?

Just a friend.

-I'll just go there, ma'am. -Okay. I'll make it for you then.

All right.

Shancai. Why are you here?

It's such a coincidence.

Come here.

-Come here. -Okay.

-You look really hungry. -Yes.

Here.

This is our signature dish.

Eight Treasures Spicy Noodles.

-And some Yakult. -Thank you.

Thank you, ma'am.

-Thank you. -Enjoy.

Everybody calls me Ms. Yue.

Just call me Ms. Yue.

Thank you, Ms. Yue.

Enjoy.

So you're here to look for Daoming Si?

Why did he just disappear and stopped contacting you?

In Shanghai, he told me so fiercely,

"This is my woman."

Listen to me carefully.

She's my woman. Don't touch her.

I'm not sure either.

That's why I came to look for him. I want to ask him face to face.

But...

my phone and my wallet got stolen when I arrived.

I don't have any money with me.

It'll be all right. What's important is that you're safe.

Good thing I saw you here.

Something came up and my friends couldn't come.

But it's really good to see you.

Don't worry.

Calm down. Eat first.

Stay at my place tonight.

I'll help you look for Daoming Si.

You know where Daoming Si lives?

After I came here, I found out

that Daoming Si and his family are very popular here.

We'll surely find him.

Thank you.

It's quite messy here.

I hope you don't mind.

This is where you live?

Yes.

I'm not sure who left this old warehouse empty.

My musician friends and I don't have money so we stayed here.

We don't need to pay rent.

It's quite nice.

Hey.

Can you lend me your laptop for a while?

I have to contact my friends in QZone.

Sure, no problem. Wait a moment.

-Feel free to use it. -Thank you.

I forgot to pay the internet bill.

Goodness.

Then I've really lost contact with the world.

-My housemates are here. -Beer.

Shancai.

Hey!

You thieves!

Hey, stop!

They stole my wallet!

They said they already sold your phone

and bracelet.

They sold them?

But they bought beer and food.

Where's my wallet?

Your wallet's here.

This is what's left.

We'll think of something.

Don't be mad, Shancai.

Shancai.

-Shancai. -Shancai. Hey.

-Shancai. -Shancai.

Shancai.

The number you have dialed cannot be reached.

Please try again later.

We lost contact with Shancai after her message this afternoon.

She probably saw Si already.

Si must have been so touched.

Shancai, why are you here?

Si, I missed you so much.

I'd surely be with you no matter where you go.

I have a bad feeling.

Don't worry.

Believe in the fighting spirit of the weed.

Why does it feel like the calm before the storm?

It seems Si's mom had everything figured out.

So it went without a glitch this time.

I hope...

Si can come back safely.
