I think that if it came down to

doesn't know how to Sew.

a pattern.

I think regardless that

Michael C had immunity, we all

agree that he was the poorest in

our group.

I think there's potential for

him to go.

And I'd also like him to go,

At this point, I really don't

know who is my friend.

I'm scared.

There's some people who don't

like me very much.

They all threw me under the bus.

I really feel like Michael

was our weakest link.

Michael had not the strongest

skills.

I did think that Michael had

the least amount of skill sets.

And the thing is, I don't

know if it's laziness or just

ignorance.

It kind of clouds my vision

maybe a little bit.

I do think Gretchen has a

strong personality, and she does

have the propensity to maybe

fall into a role of leadership

without realizing it.

It was very clear to our team,

anyhow, who the delegator was.

So what do you think of these

Well, you probably have figured

out that these are all

bridesmaids in their

bridesmaid's dresses.

And just like every other

bridesmaid, they were all told,

"you can totally wear that

again."

For this challenge, you will

need to take these bridesmaid's

dresses and create a look that

these women would want to wear.

I don't know why every bride

wants their bridesmaids to look

so bad, but they do.

huge vertical bow on my chest.

Just when we think we've

gotten so used to our models,

And they just give us, like,

crap fabric and, like, ugly

colors.

I'm lina, and I feel like

this bridesmaid's dress was

inspired by a giant

jolly rancher.

It's a little horrifying

seeing how much awful fabric and

color choices there are.

I don't want to get stuck with

a train wreck of fabric.

annoying.

block, so I need to make sure

that my aesthetic comes through.

I'd like to keep it

sophisticated and edgy.

Brooke and I are gonna get along

It's fun when you do have a

client that you can relate to.

really pretty in the back...

anything could with that color

green.

We only have two yards of

fabric that we can purchase, so

I'm buying upholstery fabric,

which I normally wouldn't do.

But I get more yardage this way.

I can't decide if that looks too

cheap or not.

Well, it is cheap.

Now I can buy a snow cone.

size to be a conversation topic.

It's about making that

god-awful dress into something

cool, regardless.

a really awful bridesmaid's

dress and how to make it into

something pretty.

I will tell you this, though.

They're looking very athletic,

'cause if you--if you think

about this and the broad

shoulders and the racerback top.

proportion of this to this.

But the bottom, it's so hard.

shoulders and her legs.

I turned it inside out so the

shine wasn't so crazy.

I'm getting really good

responses from the public on

my dress, but I'm not getting

a ton of buttons.

If the public's voting weighs

heavily on the judges' opinion,

things might be a little rough.

This was the dress that she

had before.

She wore it about three years

ago.

That was the last time she wore

it until today.

I like the transformation.

That's really nice.

The response was amazing.

My confidence level about this

dress just went from here...

To here.

They loved it.

We actually transformed her

bridesmaid's dress into a tuxedo

pant, using the opposite side of

the fabric and creating a nice

contrast of the tuxedo.

A lot of the other designers

were really excited because they

got to interact with the public.

But I kind of look at it more as

a business transaction.

And she can wear those

separately.

Separate--exactly.

It was very important for me

to represent myself well and

represent my model as well as

I possibly could.

about how she's selling the

You know she's from Jersey city,

and she's definitely giving me

that Jersey strut.

I am 150% happy with the

transformation.

I mean, the bridesmaid's dress

was a catastrophe.

This dress is definitely a

miracle.

When I saw Laura walking

down the runway, I was

proud of it.

The one thing that did bother me

about my look was Laura's pants,

because I think it could have

been fitted better.

But I did work with what I had.

I'm just hoping that the judges

like it.

But even if they don't, I know

Laura loves it.

Yay!

I think my model looks great.

All I can do now is hope for the

best and not worry about what

I've done or what it looks like,

because I really gave it my

best shot.

fabulous.

this far away, and...

I think they were sexier

yesterday.

They're kind of maybe 1/2 an

inch longer than I wanted.

She's going to take your

husband away from you tonight.

But the overall look is still

really good and really strong.

I'm looking at Nina Garcia's

face and her face only.

She looks at my dress, and she

puts the little card over her

head.

I was like, "oh, my God, it's

too short!

I'm dying inside.

That's it, I'm done, I'm going

home!"

I think the dress looks

amazing on the runway.

I love it.

I think it's a dress for a lot

of women.

It's really well made.

The silhouette and color

tone on her body is exactly what

I wanted to do.

My model looks

super confident.

And I did my best.

And if they send me home, they

Everything was impeccable.

I love my transformation,

because for me, make a dress

for another dress is expected.

But to make it for a bridesmaid,

a motorcycle pant is unexpected.

And it's my style.

Tell us about the dress that

you had to work with and what

you've made out of it.

Well, it was just sort of

this untailored nightmare.

I wanted to make just, like, a

cute cocktail dress.

And then I got some chiffon and

used that as like a tulle skirt

to just sort of dull down the

color.

And that's about it.

Well, I actually think you

went from bridesmaid to

bat mitzvah.

Okay.

And I think the original

color...

Was more fun.

Was actually great on you.

It looked better before.

A lot of people said that

they really liked it, thought

it was really cute.

Did you get a lot of votes?

No, I did not.

That fabric is unfortunate.

I mean, it looks like mosquito

netting from here.

Plus, you can see every single

detail...

That went wrong.

I wanted a real silk chiffon,

but I couldn't afford it.

It looks even cheaper from

out here, if that's possible.

I can kind of see that retro

mad men idea that you were

probably going for.

But this definitely doesn't

work.

How do you feel in your

outfit?

I actually think it's really

fun, and it feels way more

comfortable than the dress that

I had before.

Um...

I would not put her

in something--if she said she

didn't like it, I would do

whatever it takes to fix it.

Originally, this dress was

very, very full, and she wanted

something sexy.

So I decided to kind of take the

fabric and drape it in a way

that made it look a little bit

softer and tailored.

I like what you did with the

bias at the waist.

For me, though, it feels kind of

like we glued two dresses

together.

The top has this movement, and

the bottom doesn't.

I think it looks good.

It almost looks like a

bridesmaid dress that's sort of

been, like, ripped apart and

deconstructed, like you

repurposed it.

It's amazing and beautiful.

It's perfect...Perfect on ava.

Well, Christopher, I think

that the top half does look

good, but the bottom half is too

short.

I love it short, but, hey...

Also, the silhouette that you

gave her, I think that it does

look sexy but still very

elegant.

Definitely. I wanted

something sexy and form-fitting,

and he definitely gave me that.

Erika came to me with a

shiny, shiny, shiny green

polyester faux satin, and I saw

this amazing angel tattoo on her

left shoulder.

The racerback is nice.

But then you have a ruffle on

the bottom.

It's like some bed skirt ruffle

It's comfortable.

something's washable.

Like, "oh, I love my dress.

It's washable."

The color is just so boring.

And then the whole design of

it...

It just looks weird and old.

I do think her hair looks like

the bridesmaid's dress from

before.

But I think the dress looks

really tough and cool, which

I like.

Well, I love the pink strip

at her shoulder.

I mean, so it's a hot dress on a

the transformation here.

Well, this is lina.

A lot of us shied away from

the jolly rancher dress, because

it was really, like, neon pink.

I decided to do color blocking

just so that it could kind of

give the illusion of bringing

her in.

Wow.

Color blocking can do great

things for your body.

The way this is color blocked,

it's like you turned her into,

like, nursing-grandmother chest.

I mean, it's literally, like,

when you see a maternity bra.

It's terrible.

It's really unfortunate what

you're doing to a young,

good-looking woman.

In this case, I would have

made the top smaller and the

skirt longer.

And the straps, to me, looks a

little Frederick's of Hollywood.

There's something definitely

wrong with the construction of

of that top.

It's lopsided.

It makes her look like she has

massive chest.

Well...

Yes, you have big--

she's very well-endowed.

Big chest, but this makes it

look like they're coming out of

here.

She's got a beautiful figure,

but you made her look shorter

and broader than she is.

And if I were going to dinner

with my husband, I don't really

know what restaurant I would go

to with this kind of look.

Well, when I saw my client,

Brooke, she's like, "here's

this--chop it.

Make it short.

I want a sexy, short black

dress," and I was like, "okay."

I remember you from the

runway.

You had this awful bridesmaid's

dress on.

It was so old-fashioned.

You made something that is

really edgy and really hip.

And it's hard but still sexy and

feminine.

And because you made it so

super short...

She wanted it shorter.

I'm like you, Heidi.

It's great that you then gave

her the lace on top, so it's not

boobs are out, legs are out,

everything is out.

You took a very kind of

bland, old-fashioned

bridesmaid's dress, and you gave

her a cocktail dress that, in

fact, looks very expensive.

It's interesting in the way

that it's cut.

I like the draping on the lace.

And I think your styling is

spot-on.

The shoe is miserably

uncomfortable, but they look

great.

Doesn't matter.

This is the shortest dress

that we're looking at today.

But that proportion is right

on her body--

a very good thing.

Is that a pocket in the side

too?

Yeah, it's a fake pocket.

That's awesome.

It fits well.

I like that it's just at that

worse than her--her original

dress they said was beautiful on

her.

But they love Michael's.

So that's good for you.

They had some awful fabrics

to work with.

For example, Michael had an

awful dress.

It was hideous, and he made a

super-modern, chic, sexy dress.

That was a phenomenal

transformation.

And you know what I love too?

Last week all the other

designers threw Michael under

the bus.

Oh, they all said that he

didn't know how to sew.

Yes, they were so mean.

Who made that dress?

I know, what--

this dress was...

Beautifully done.

Yeah, and very constructed.

And yet it looked so simple and

easy.

And it was all working.

That dress had this perfect

balance.

The sleeve and the higher

neckline balanced the shorter

hemline.

You had some drapery with

the architectural element.

He got it.

Okay, let's talk about

Christopher.

I did like the bustier and

the one shoulder.

I thought that she looked really

nice.

I think the idea was good.

The attempt was good.

He handled the top so

beautifully.

That's not easy, I have to say.

To make that faux organza

drape like that--that was

effortless.

It looked great.

All righty, let's talk about

mondo.

The transformation between

that pink pepto-bismol to

this kind of modern--that was

great.

And he made a modern, hot

dress.

But the hair and the makeup

was jersey shore.

Snooki and the flintstones.

But it wasn't vulgar.

There was nothing vulgar about

that dress.

He sent out something that was

impeccable, and he did it well.

And it's hard to tailor 100%

polyester, to make it smooth

like that and fit like that.

Perfect seams, perfect hem.

All good.

Let's talk about the

designers that we didn't like.

Valerie.

All I can tell you is the

dress looks like a really

bad tennis dress gone wrong.

Put a pair of sneakers and

give her a tennis racket, and

she's set.

The proportion's crazy.

And then let me make my chest

look lower and bigger.

It just looks like she didn't

step back and look at it.

When you step away, it looks

like some kind of weird cartoon

character or something.

Michael drummond, his model,

jacleen, she looked so much

better before.

What did he do to her is

unbelievable.

That mosquito netting was

an awful choice, because it made

it look cheap.

They're starting off with

really, you know, terrible

fabrics.

So if you have the opportunity

to add something, you want to

add the best.

He added kind of the exact, same

thing, if not worse than the

fabric that he was already

starting off with, so...

If that's what he's choosing...

Also when he said, "I didn't

really have the money to buy the

chiffon that I wanted."

So rather than trying to buy the

ugly lace plus the mosquito

netting, why not just invest

in one good thing?

Exactly.

I look at what peach did.

Everything except for the hair

was a disaster.

It looks home-sewn.

Totally over, over,

overdesigned.

There's so many things going

on.

She's kind of a secretary

from 1987 on the bottom.

Then she had the straps from

the bra that she did.

Then it had the ruffles down the

bottom and another set of

ruffles down the bottom.

Probably ruffles here too.

That top was hideous.

The one thing about her

work...

She has the sewing and the

tailoring skills.

It's the taste level that I'm

worried about.
