When I think about manga,

it reminds me of
pranks I did as a kid.

For example, like putting poo
on the back of a wallet,

leaving it on the street,
and hiding to see

dog shit on their hands.

Thinking about stuff like that,

it's kind of the same part of the
brain that I use for creating manga.

For me, at least.

In manga, at the core,

there’s a feeling of
'I’ll show them' or 'I’ll destroy you'!

You need that burning passion,
or it’s tough to make it work.

Especially with body painting,

since you're using a living
person as your canvas,

it's crucial to know your subject.

If they have an extreme personality,

it’d open the door for
all kinds of wild ideas.

But in her case, she's got
such a nice personality,

and I've known her for a while,

so it made it a bit difficult.

About Cosplay

I’ve always been really interested
in clothing and fashion.

After graduating from school,

I was looking for an interesting
company to work for as a part-timer.

When I went to Mandarake,

I saw people working in
cosplay and thought it was great.

Cosplay is a completely different
field from fashion, but...

It was an area I had never explored,

yet I felt it was a new frontier
even from a fashion perspective.

So, I joined as a part-time employee

and started cosplaying from there.

It was initially very challenging.

People who cosplay
usually love manga, but...

I was only interested in fashion

and hadn’t read much manga.

I had no idea which characters I should
cosplay,

or what direction to take,

which made it incredibly difficult.

I don’t usually think much
about whether I’m being watched.

But when I go out in a costume

that I've made myself
to be seen by others,

I do want it to be
interesting to look at.

It makes me very happy

when people find the things I
make as entertaining as I do.

It’s not that I’m trying to do something
different;

it’s just that I like different things.

I simply have different
preferences for characters

that I like or want to portray,
which has led me here,

but I think the feeling of loving
a work is exactly the same.

About Body Painting

When something is
being drawn or painted...

I know it's a really hard process.

You can feel that difficulty...

through the brush and the
artist's arm with every movement.

The artist’s presence is
conveyed through the brush.

So, I can’t focus on my
body’s sensations at all,

only the sensations of the artist.

Instead, I concentrate
entirely on the artist’s process,

making it easier for them to
draw by avoiding deep breaths

and minimizing movement

to keep the
paint from dripping unnecessarily.

Though 90% of the
time, it's fine,

sometimes it does tickle.

It’s completely different from
feeling sensual or anything.

There's nothing sexual about it.

Even though I’m completely nude.

But, honestly...

I enter a different state of mind.

I feel like I'm somewhere else,

as if I'm watching
myself from outside.

It’s like viewing myself
from somewhere else

as a piece of work is being created.

I feel very present in that process.

It's an incredibly strong sensation,

seeing the artwork being completed.

It’s just pure joy.

I'm so glad to be part of this, really.

I just feel nothing but gratitude.

I love music.

I love the music
from the artists

on the label I work with.

In particular...

Kenji Ohtsuki from
"Kinniku Shōjo Tai"

was the most influential on
me during my adolescence.

Later, I also got into
Uchoten and Jinsei,

both of which had a
huge influence on me.

Now, I'm really into Denki Groove.

I love food.

I really like figs.

And I like curry rice.

Also, I love sweets
and desserts.

And anything with
a unique texture.

I like to try rare foods, too.

Recently, I've started
wearing various artist T-shirts.

And T-shirts featuring characters from
manga or games.

These are probably unofficial
and I'm sure they disregard copyright.

I really like these kinds
of T-shirts a lot.

I really love Yasuji Tanioka's
Proof Of Genius.

That's one of my favourites.

I prefer people with
otaku characteristics.

I love people who
are a bit otaku-like

or who identify as otaku.

My ideal man is someone who...

can go to karaoke with me and
sing only anime songs.

In elementary school, I was very
active and played sports frequently.

I studied quite a bit, too.

When I got to middle school, I
really began to dislike studying.

It led to self-loathing,

and I kept
thinking about committing suicide.

When I entered high school, the
environment changed, and so did I.

Since I loved fashion,
I enjoyed studying it,

so I was happy.

I think I was pretty active
and engaged during this time.

I was in a band too.

When I'm able to do fun

I like that side of myself.

But when I can't,

fully commit to something,

I get frustrated and
dislike that part of myself.

I'm good at sewing, making things,

I want to work in many
areas, like Jun Miura.

When it comes to Jun Miura, he’s
a person you can’t quite categorize,

but he does a lot of things. Everything
he does is recognised as interesting.

He originally started
out by drawing manga,

each of his projects is
interesting in its own way.

Originally, he drew
manga and such,

but the kind of work
Jun Miura is doing now,

where his name is associated with
various projects,

is my goal as well.

I want to get married, too.

I think I will.

Marriage seems like fun,

but I don't see it
as work, you know?

But this kind of body
art is also a lot of fun,

and I want to keep doing it.

It's a form of love.

Simply saying I love the work

isn’t enough to express it.

So I use my body as a way of
saying "Isn't this great?"

and expressing,
“this is how much I love this".

That’s my way of showing love.
