[A Journey To Love]

[Episode 5]

Don't you work in the Scarlet Guards?

Why are you working as a laundress here?

Who are you spying on?

I... I used to be a White Sparrow.

I was lucky to follow Lord before.

In the fire five years ago,

I was also going to die.

Fortunately, people from the Scarlet Guards helped me.

I only broke a shoulder blade.

I really saw it.

Right here.

Don't talk.

Do as I say. We'll be fine.

Who is it?

I'm sorry to disturb you.

Go on.

Go on.

Tongguang is indeed a philandering marquis.

In broad daylight,

he chased a laundress

into a tent.

Tongguang.

When did your love affair start?

She's just a servant.

Uncle, it's because you just promoted me.

I was so happy.

Listen.

It's my fault?

That's right.

Do you really like her?

Then why didn't you kill her?

Her being alive

is a hidden danger to both of us.

Say something.

Not long ago,

an envoy from the State of Su came.

He wrote a poem which I like very much.

If you have my green skirt in mind,

be kind to green grass.

She looked like you when she cried.

For a moment,

I couldn't do it.

Stop lying to me.

I'm a living person.

I'm standing in front of you alive.

You don't even touch me.

Prince Hedong said

that he saw you and her lying on the same place.

You

just want to use me as a pawn, right?

You think I'm dirty, right?

What I despise

is my own ignoble bloodline.

Do you really want me to say it?

Yes.

I don't dare get too close to you.

Because although I feel inferior,

I have a big dream

of being the Cabinet Grand Secretary.

You're the brightest pearl in the Shaxi Tribe

and the most noble woman in the palace of An.

But I'm

just the son of a paramour.

If you weren't too lonely,

I wouldn't have the right to stand by your side.

I'm sorry.

I really can't do it.

No.

I'm sorry.

I won't force you anymore.

You just need

to lend me

this shoulder to lean on

occasionally.

[The State of Wu, Zhang's Teahouse]

Boss is back.

Boss is back.

Ning knows how beautiful that beauty is.

Beauties are the rarest.

Ning would rather die for beauties.

Even if he becomes a ghost in the next life, he's still romantic.

Why was the word "Ning" mentioned so many times?

This is

your cousin?

You're his cousin.

No wonder the word "Ning" was mentioned so many times.

No wonder

Boss Ning asked us to split up into two groups to save people.

Cousin, what's your name?

Cousin, what's your surname?

Her name is Ren Ruyi.

She's going to the State of An with us.

She's also responsible for teaching Her Highness.

This is Qian Zhao. He's a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.

This is...

He's not important.

I... I'm very important.

My name is Yu Shisan.

I know more than Qian Zhao.

Cousin, why do you

look so pale?

Are you not feeling well?

Yes. She's badly injured.

Examine her.

Okay.

This wound

seems to be caused by the Bloody Caltrops of the Scarlet Guards?

She's a police officer of the State of Chu.

She has a vendetta against the Scarlet Guards.

Drink it.

Cousin, you're really an outstanding woman.

I'm impressed.

But why doesn't Cousin talk?

She also hurt her throat?

She just doesn't want to talk to you.

No way.

I'm quite fun.

All right. Let's go.

If it succeeds,

I'll ask Yu

to buy you three packs of Zhang's Pastry

to calm your nerves.

Really?

You greedy cat.

Ruyi.

What's wrong?

This is very delicious.

Nothing.

I was reminded of an old friend.

Thank you.

Why didn't they

suspect my identity at all?

Because you were brought here by Boss Ning.

He also asked Qian to treat you.

That means they treat you as one of them.

You trust him so much.

If he asks us to die,

I won't even blink.

Is he really that good?

Of course.

Our Boss Ning was born in an aristocratic family of Jiangdong.

His mother, Gu, comes from a long line of scholars.

I heard that she also worked as a preceptor in the palace before.

Boss Ning's knowledge can definitely help him become an imperial scholar.

His martial art skills are the best.

He's smart and resourceful.

He's also the first person who became the Deputy Chief

in his 20s.

Isn't he good?

Not to mention people from the outside,

even our Liudao Hall

has hundreds of female officers

who want to marry him.

Really?

There's a sentence you must remember.

[Empress Zhaojie]

Don't fall in love with men easily in your life.

But

you must have a child of your own.

Cousin, you finally spoke.

I was so worried.

So you didn't hurt your throat.

Cousin, you have a really beautiful voice.

Don't call me that.

Don't be so heartless.

Today is really a wonderful day.

It's the first day I go side by side with you.

Your weakness is at the Juque acupoint.

Yours is at the Jingming acupoint.

Boss.

Boss.

Why did they

start fighting like this?

A wolf is new to a wolf pack.

Even though it's brought here by the leader of the wolf pack,

they have to know their positions

so that they'll know how to behave in the future.

I see.

Boss.

You're a wolf pack leader.

Ruyi ranks second.

Qian is old,

so he's an old wolf.

I'm young, so I'm a young wolf.

What about Shisan?

A lecherous wolf.

I'm not a lecherous wolf.

I want to be a charming wild wolf.

Your Highness.

This is Ren Ruyi.

She's the preceptor I hired for you.

She knows everything about the State of An.

From this day forward,

she'll be responsible for teaching you.

Greetings, Prince Li.

Rise.

Mr. Ning.

Why did you replace us

without consulting us?

Because you're incompetent.

You can't teach her well.

How dare you!

I was sent by Her Majesty.

I once visited the State of An

with Princess Xunyang.

Send Ms. Ming back to the capital.

Yes.

Hurry!

What are you doing?

Let go!

Mr. Ning.

What's going on?

You have no choice.

I'm not consulting you. I'm informing you.

That's right.

I... No.

I want her to be my teacher.

This is my order.

This...

What are you writing?

The names of the big shots in the State of An's court.

You have to memorize them later.

Why aren't you afraid of me?

You were so timid

and tongue-tied before.

Why did you

suddenly ask me to stay?

Tell me.

Because

you controlled Ms. Ming as soon as you came.

Ms. Ming...

She's very strict.

She hit you?

She pricked the places where other people couldn't see.

People from the State of Wu also do this?

Why didn't you tell Ning Yuanzhou?

I was afraid to make things difficult for Yuanzhou.

Besides, Ms. Ming did this

in order to remind me to study hard and listen attentively.

Yuan Lu.

Here.

Send a message to the persons who're sending Ms. Ming back.

Before they return to the capital,

prick her with the Bone Attached Needles of your Liudao Hall

three times a day.

Every day.

Yes.

Why are you crying?

Ruyi.

Yuan Lu just told me what happened.

Thank you.

I haven't seen Ying

for many years.

I was negligent.

It's normal for you to not know

the tricks used to torture women in the palace.

By the way,

besides the caravan,

many people in the delegation are from the Heaven Path.

They're responsible for protecting people.

In the delegation, you...

You don't ask me how I teach her?

There's no need to ask about it.

Since I chose you to teach her,

I don't doubt you.

Besides,

who else

knows the State of An better than Left Messenger Ren?

I've left the State of An for five years.

But haven't you been a White Sparrow for the past five years?

You're capable of teaching Her Highness.

I wasn't finished yet.

To avoid trouble,

in front of the delegation,

I'll tell them you're a female officer from the Liudao Hall.

But in front of Shisan and the others,

you're a police officer from the State of Chu.

Why don't you tell them directly

that I was a White Sparrow from the Scarlet Guards?

Because I guess in this world,

no woman

wants to be regarded as someone who trades on her look.

So do you.

If I had a choice,

I wouldn't be a White Sparrow who has to trade on my look

and seduce men.

By the way,

especially Qian Zhao.

He hates the Scarlet Guards very much.

Don't expose your identity.

Mr. Ning,

you're indeed considerate.

Tell me how many tribes there are in the State of An.

I know this.

There are three major tribes in the State of An.

The Shaxi Tribe, the Shadong Tribe,

and the Shazhong Tribe.

Which tribe is close to

Second Prince?

Is it

the Shaxi Tribe?

Which cities were occupied by the An people

in the Tianmenguan Battle?

I...

Starting tomorrow, I'll teach you for two more hours every day after dinner.

If you make a mistake again,

copy it 100 times and submit it to me.

[Zhucheng]

[Zhucheng, Zhucheng Inn]

Beauty is so heartless.

Her Highness is still a cute...

He's still a little prince who was raised by his cute mother.

Boss.

Aren't Ruyi and Her Highness getting along well?

Why is Her Highness crying?

A teacher offers both carrots and sticks.

Although Ruyi helped Her Highness punish Ms. Ming,

it doesn't mean she'll always be kind to Her Highness.

Let's go.

Your Highness.

Please drink this.

Wrong.

Men should drink alcohol

like this.

Keep eating.

I...

I...

I have a poor appetite.

I can't eat.

Then go to the backyard and do the horse stance for an hour.

Okay.

Do you think I'm too cruel to her?

No.

Being cruel to her now

is better than letting the An people be cruel to her

when she arrives in the State of An.

Besides...

Forget it.

Make it clear.

Besides, I believe

that you must have suffered more than her

and been injured more seriously.

But time is limited.

If she can learn 10% of what you have,

I'll be satisfied.

You suddenly treat me so well.

I'm really not used to it.

The past is the past.

Now we're working together.

Of course I treat you differently.

Really?

There's no one else here anyway.

Why don't we sit down,

have a drink together,

and talk about

how we can work together?

I have an old injury.

I can't drink cold alcohol.

I'll go and warm it

for you.

Ruyi.

Don't you want to know why I asked you to do the horse stance?

I don't know.

But whatever you do is for my own good.

I'll do it again.

Take a break before continuing.

Okay.

Why are you so obedient?

Because I liked you

when I first saw you.

I'm obedient to you.

No.

You're a princess.

Ms. Ming treated you badly,

but you were also obedient to her.

It only shows one thing.

You are used to obeying others

and dare not defy others.

My mother and ladies-in-waiting taught me that.

They said that women should be demure and docile.

I'm a princess. There're more reasons for me to be like this.

Otherwise, I won't be able to get married for the rest of my life.

Who said women must get married?

You are a princess.

You can be alone and free forever.

But if I don't get married,

who will take care of me,

talk with me, and laugh with me?

How can I have a baby?

What's so good about getting married?

Don't become anyone's wife.

Otherwise, your fate will be in other people's hands.

Even without getting married,

women can also have their own children.

But they all said

I... I need to find a good husband.

This is the most important thing in my life.

They lied to you.

No.

Other people may lie to me,

but my sister-in-law would never lie to me.

She told me the same.

Really?

Do you know

Empress Xiao

has always wanted you dead?

Don't spread such a rumor about my sister-in-law.

She treats me so well.

She treats you well?

She knows you are a princess with many weaknesses.

But she still asked you to disguise as a man to come to the State of An.

Do you really think the officials in the State of An are so blind

that they can't notice you don't even have an Adam's apple?

She only sent a chief clerk who is tough outwardly and timid inwardly

and an arrogant and domineering female official who is incompetent.

I... I...

It was urgent, and I was entrusted with the mission at a critical moment.

When you see Yama,

you can tell him.

Let me tell you the truth.

Prince Danyang doesn't want your brother to return safely at all.

He desires to see

your brother's corpse now.

In this way,

he can be the emperor naturally.

The empress doesn't want to save your brother that much either.

She just wants to wait a few more months.

When the baby is born,

she can make your brother Grand Emperor.

No.

And she can be a regent in the name of the empress dowager.

As for you and your brother,

it's best that you are locked up

in the dark prison in the State of An.

In a few years, you will die of illness.

This

is what a happy ending is.

You are lying.

If you don't believe me,

you can ask him.

Yuanzhou.

You shouldn't have told her this.

I just want her to wake up sooner.

At least

she can know why when she dies.

Yang Ying,

listen.

If you don't change

your weak and sentimental personality immediately,

you will die, really.

Eat as much as you can

to strengthen your health

and study hard.

It is your only way to live.

Yuanzhou,

is what she said true?

How many sons does the emperor of the State of An have?

3.

The eldest son

is Prince Hedong, Li Shouji.

The second son

is Prince Luoxi, Li Zhenye.

And the third son is Li Chengyuan.

You've improved a lot.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. It's really effective.

[Baisha Posthouse, Baisha Town]

Hurry. Move faster.

Be careful.

Be careful.

Has the food been prepared?

My Lord, rest assured. It's ready.

This way, please.

I'm so hungry, Shisan.

How long will it still take to arrive at the border?

It will take long.

We need to arrive in Lingzhou first.

Then we need to arrive in Jiangcheng.

And we also need to pass by many prefectures and counties.

Consider it a chance to lose weight.

What are you looking at?

The beauty and the carriage shine and echo each other.

Cut the crap.

Boss, I'm hungry.

We'll eat as soon as we settle down.

Let's go.

What's wrong, Your Highness?

I'm fine.

Where is the restroom?

Your Highness, this way.

Ruyi,

what should I do? I think I suddenly...

have my period.

Have your servants

never prepared anything for you?

We came out in a hurry this time.

I think we passed by a town just now.

Can you go there

and help me see if there's anything useful?

Please.

They are all men.

Thank you, Ruyi.

Give me a horse.

Okay.

Your Highness, this way.

I'll go by myself. I don't need you.

-Yes. -Yes.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Go get some water.

I want to clean my hands.

Please wait a moment, Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness, what's wrong?

I'm not feeling well.

You eat first.

Mr. Du.

I'm gonna go check on her.

Who is it?

It's me.

Are you alright, Ying?

Yuanzhou.

My stomach hurts.

Wait for me.

I'm going to ask Qian Zhao here.

No need.

I...

I'm not sick.

Ruyi went out to find something for me.

Just give me the warm honey water

over there.

Yuanzhou,

try it for me.

See if it's hot.

The warm honey water...

This is my first time drinking it. Does it have to be this sweet?

It is this sweet.

Here, have some.

It's still hot.

Put it on the table.

I'll drink it after I get some sleep.

If you feel too uncomfortable,

let us know.

Okay.

You're awake.

Was I drugged?

I didn't do it.

Otherwise, you wouldn't have woken up yet.

It was the princess.

What a surprise, right?

I didn't expect

that she would be so bold either.

After she sent me away,

she gave you knockout drops.

She also specially used muscle softening powder on you.

Maybe what I said that day scared her.

She's not resigned to it.

So she wants to go back to the capital

to ask Empress Xiao and Prince Danyang.

She scored a lucky hit.

It really makes me embarrassed this time.

Please

help me ask Yuan Lu and the others here.

They were drugged too.

I'm the only one

who can move freely now.

Then I really need to bother you.

Not at all.

Then you...

Do you want to know what kind of person I am?

Actually, I'm not from the State of An.

I was sold to Scarlet Guards when I was very little.

White Sparrows are worthless. We don't deserve a name.

So they randomly combined the Chinese characters in the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches to call us.

I was called Ren Xin.

When I grew up,

I thought it was improper if I didn't have a decent surname.

That's why

I added a radical to Ren.

It was not easy for you.

Well...

My benefactor

said the same thing.

I asked you to help me find out

who killed her.

She is Empress Zhaojie of the State of An.

Empress Zhaojie?

Didn't you get convicted by the emperor of An

because you assassinated Empress Zhaojie?

Life was hard when I was a Scarlet Guard.

She was the one who treated me the best.

In my heart, she was like a sister and a mother to me.

Why would I hurt her?

I went to Yaoyue Pavilion that day

because I wanted to save her.

You're a silly child.

You know nothing except being an assassin.

You must remember this.

Don't fall in love with a man easily in your life.

But

you must have a child of your own.

Go.

She just kept asking me

to leave Scarlet Guards

and live happily as I wish.

She also told me

I shouldn't fall in love with a man easily

but I need to have a child of my own.

So you changed your name to Ren Ruyi.

Later, I faked my death

and fled to Shengzhou.

I recuperated in the house of a woman

who just lost her daughter.

Several years later,

Scarlet Guards sneaked into Shengzhou to recruit White Sparrows.

They didn't know me.

They took me forcibly.

I also wanted to take the chance to find out who killed her.

So I played along

and joined Scarlet Guards again.

Everything was really closely related.

But don't worry.

As long as you teach Her Highness well

as promised,

I will try my best to help you find out

who killed Empress Zhaojie.

Thank you.

But I will fulfill

Empress Zhaojie's last wish.

So,

I plan to name my future child

Ren Xiaochuan. What do you think?

It is easy to remember and sounds nice.

The name of Ren Xiaochuan is quite cute.

But don't you think

it sounds like my name?

And this is your business.

You don't have to tell me this.

Although it's my child,

I can't give birth to the child without your help.

Consider the name

as a souvenir.

What... What do you mean?

Well, did...

did... did I just...

You didn't. But you will later.

I won't force you to do what you don't like.

Are you serious?

Well, calm down first.

I'm the one who took the wrong medicine, not you.

Don't worry.

I'm very calm.

Actually, I've decided to have a baby with you long ago.

You are tall and have nice martial arts skills.

No matter whom the child takes after,

it won't be a bad thing.

You're not married.

Even if you have a baby with me,

you won't hurt other women.

You're on your way to the State of An.

Even if you die halfway,

I can help you carry on your family line.

It's a win-win solution.

What a good idea.

It's not.

The point is...

I wanted to seduce you gradually.

But a great opportunity came unexpectedly.

Such being the case,

let's do it today.

Well, calm down.

Listen to me.

I won't have a baby with you.

I will only be with the person I like.

Only the person I like and I...

Do you dare to say

you don't have feelings for me at all?

Don't lie.

White Sparrows are best

at reading men's mind.

I know

why you've been so gentle to me lately.

You want me to be indebted to you in order to win my heart, right?

You deliberately neglect me first.

Then you can find a chance to talk about my past

to care about me and sympathize with me.

In that way, it's very likely that I'll love you wholeheartedly.

Mr. Ning,

you're really scheming.

-And your body... -I...

is hot.

Well, what are you talking about?

Well, you're right, Ren Ruyi.

I'm scheming.

You'll suffer losses if you have a baby with me.

How come?

It's a good thing that the child is as scheming as you.

Don't worry.

Female lions on the prairie

always hunt

and raise their children on their own.

Male lions just need to cooperate.

You just need to cooperate with me later.

As long as we succeed this time,

I won't pester you anymore.

But the point is I'm not a lion.

And listen.

I'm destined to be alone in this life.

My family members are gone.

It's not a good thing if the child takes after me.

It's true. The child...

What a coincidence. Me too.

I...

Just accept your fate.

I'll promise you one more thing.

Well...

After entering the State of An,

I'll protect the princess too.

Is that enough?

I don't need it.

Ren Ruyi.

You're forcing me!

Scream.

Go ahead.

Someone!

Someone! Ren Ruyi is crazy!

They were drugged too.

They can't help you.

It's useless no matter how loud you scream.

Ruyi, listen...

Listen to me. Calm down.

Listen to me. I've been poisoned.

I've been poisoned.

I'm telling the truth.

Let me finish. Let me finish.

Why would Zhang Song

let me leave the capital

with gold and the princess so easily?

Before I left the capital,

he made me drink qianji poison.

Every 10 days,

I have to go get the antidote from his men.

It's been 7 days since I left the capital.

The effect of the poison is the strongest now.

See for yourself if you don't believe me.

See for yourself.

It's okay.

I have All-Purpose Antidote in my blood.

It can cure all poisons in the world.

With it,

I...

the child won't be hurt.

Well, but... but my kidney energy is insufficient now.

Even if we are lucky and succeed at one stroke,

the child may be born with a congenital defect.

How about this?

I promise you.

But give me 2 more days.

After I take the first dose of the antidote,

I will definitely give you what you want.

I promise you.

These are heart-to-heart butterfly pills.

I'll believe you if you eat it.

Okay.

Now,

you can give me the antidote of the muscle softening powder, right?

The antidote is in the water.

I don't need that much water.

Ren Ruyi!

Fine. I don't feel hot now.
