and I always wanted to be singing

my father was a pastor,

And so being able to now be on this platform

to show my artistry

that's bigger than the four walls of the church,

Honestly, I never thought that I would be on country radio.

I just recently finished my degree at USC,

and so I was in a transitional period

where I was either preparing to start pursuing

physician assistant school,

or I was gonna try to pursue music again.

I was taking classes at Pasadena Community College

to try and fulfill my prereq.

I've been working in a restaurant, going to school.

* ...when you're drinking * People in small towns,

we dream about these opportunities,

and I can't believe that I'm living my dream right now.

* ...with you *

Camryn, the one thing that I'm noticing,

I'm not seeing enough expression from your face, right?

'Cause I think you're focusing on the singing

and you're just kind of blank.

I wanna see drama. Yeah.

This song has a lot of stuff it's saying.

And also, just make sure you get enough air to end the notes.

So it's like I'm still figuring out,

like, my new body it feels like.

It's a long story, but I just recently developed heart disease

a couple of years ago. Oh.

The breathing is just something I've been trying to work on,

but there was a point where I couldn't even sing at all.

I think you should be confident and just accept

that this is where you're at.

And it's like, because it does sound really good.

Yeah.

It's hard singing very emotional songs,

but I can relate with this song in different areas of my life,

and that's why music is so important.

I'm not necessarily country.

I consider myself pop indie,

but on this song, I can provide my own twist on it

that works well with Rowdy's country voice.

Right before the auditions, I was at my wedding.

It just happened so quick.

I told Jaci, I said, "Hey, honey,

this is the opportunity we have."

My father-in-law actually passed away a few years ago.

My wife, I've seen her go through a lot.

It's super special to just go through this life with her,

especially at a young age.

We're both really young, because if it weren't for her,

I wouldn't be doing this at all.

She was the one that set everything up for "The Voice".

And so I just pray that I can make the most

of this opportunity.

My wife means the world to me.

Rowdy, you just need to support your breath more

and it will give it a little bit more body.

I wanna get that through the verse

Being a country boy,

I don't allow myself to be vulnerable

and allow myself to tap into that emotion.

Tate: I just graduated from Belmont University

in Nashville, Tennessee.

Going from a small suburb in Chicago,

where really only about five people in our town

play guitar or something like that, to Nashville,

it's overwhelming. Everyone's constantly gigging.

I haven't done too much myself, but I have dabbled for sure.

A few months ago, got this really cool opportunity

to sing a couple of songs down in Chicago.

Very nerve wracking.

Have never played in front of a crowd anywhere near that size.

I think it definitely helped me prepare for "The Voice".

Performing on that stage for blinds

was ten times scarier.

I loved your voice, the dynamics, your range.

I feel extremely lucky to get to work with Reba.

She's got all of the knowledge in the world

when it comes to country music.

Not only is she an amazing singer, she's been an actress,

entrepreneur, and so many of the things

she has accomplished are goals that I have.

This battle is going to be hard,

but I've experienced of challenges in my life.

When I was 13 years old, I had a super quick growth spurt.

When I went to the doctor, they were like, "You have scoliosis."

I had a 75% curvature in my spine.

Soon after, I had surgery and I grew two inches in five hours.

To be sitting here at "The Voice" is unbelievable.

Like, I don't think I could even dream this up in my head.

So, like, where did that come from, the whole album?

I wanted to sing with other people,

and so I did half country, half not country.

And it was -- it was the most fun thing

I've ever gotten to do.

That's awesome. Loved it.

It's so surreal that, just a couple of months ago,

we were just gigging around town.

And then, today we're face to face with Reba.

Jonathan: Some of the most random places

we sang, literally, from like a cornfield to a restaurant. Oh, yeah.

Like, it really just ranges.

You know, people think that singing in a group is easier,

but it's a lot harder because it's all about

blending together as a unit. And for battles,

fitting in Katie at the same time was really difficult.

Because we already have pretty good dynamics as a trio,

but then you're adding that fourth person in.

You've got to also sort of learn how to sing with them, too.

I actually brought my own recording equipment,

so it's been really helpful

because I'm able to send us each practice tracks

for us to listen, so when we come together,

it still sounds the exact same.

I was surprised at first because we are so different.

and I'm more like rock and roll,

maybe country and my voice a tiny bit.

Cameron: Seeing Michael in rehearsals,

it was like reassurance that, like, you're here,

Any advice how to make it my own?

Because this song is, like, way out of my comfort zone.

Why do you feel it's out of your comfort zone?

Yeah. And like, I don't do, like, runs.

You don't need to do runs.

I love that you didn't try to be something you're not.

You sang this song in the way that you sing it,

and you have a unique and distinct style.

I had already auditioned years ago and didn't make it.

So when Michael's chair turned,

it was immediate emotional release.

I hear something in your voice that is unique.

It's really feminine, but at the same time,

Cassidy, you're not just a musician, you're an actor now.

Is there somebody in your life

that can bring truth to this story for you?

There is a part of my life that does, like, connect to it,

of losing my dad.

My dad passed away in 2017 from liver cancer.

The lyrics that really connect with me are

"when you feel like hope is gone,

look inside you and be strong."

After seeing my dad pass, I'm like, wow,

my mom is like the strongest woman ever.

She has always been the calm in the storm,

and I think that I've tried to take a lot of that from her.

I'm living with my mom at an RV resort in Jacksonville.

This RV resort is actually the first place

that I ever played my acoustic set.

This was the first gig I ever had, on the stage.

My mom definitely did install independence in me

to be my own hero.

Cameron, the bridge of this song is very powerful

and you're killing it on the bridge.

I would say, as much as possible, live these words.

Mm. Tell the story.

I know closing your eyes here with me is

because you're here in this weird space.

But if you can emote and this is your story,

or whatever you have to pull from,

I just want to cry when you sing it, so make me cry.

Okay. I just always rejected, like, social norms.

I think a lot of that

has protected me as a Black queer person

who didn't necessarily grow up in an environment

that supported that identity,

I stood out naturally being in the Midwest

in a very Christian environment. Also just being bold.

I didn't even realize that I was as bold as I was.

I think that this song is powerful for me

because I get to show that I am a hero,

and I don't need to conform to anyone's idea of normativity.

From both of you, I need you guys to sing harmony

in one of those choruses. Okay.

If you go into a two-part harmony,
