that Maxwell's magical experiment

caused considerable damage,
and put the students at risk.

It may have just forced
its way out of the container.

on the swarm container.

Maybe that's how it got loose.

-The swarm was zapped by magic too.
-So much for blaming it on Maxwell.

-Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
-Someone deliberately released the swarm.

Who would want to do that?

More importantly,
why would anyone want to do that?

[Kyra] Dad, Darra's here!

When she did,
she scorched the swarm container

and the cake mix container.

What reason would Apinya have to do that?

She's been asking Kyra
a lot of questions about Orb magic.

Maybe she wanted to see
what Kyra could do,

so she set this up to test her.

That means Apinya knew
Kyra was going to be in the library

-when the swarm was loose.
-She did.

She told Kyra to drop by
'cause she had a present for her.

It could still be a coincidence.

Nothing you said shows
Apinya had anything to do with it.

There is one thing.

Remember when I had to go back
to the library to get the cake mix?

I didn't think anything of it at the time,
but Apinya was acting kind of weird,

and she was in the same aisle
as the swarm container.

[gasps]
Lily, what are you doing here?

Okay, that's good.
We've established opportunity,

-so now we just need motive.
-[Ruksy] This is nuts.

Apinya could have any number of reasons
to be in that part of the library.

And don't forget, the swarm injured her.
Nobody would willingly let that happen.

Apinya might if she wanted
something badly enough.

And anyway, she knew
that Kyra would be able to save her

-with her Orb magic.
-What would Apinya have to gain?

Did I say I had all the answers?

[indistinct chatter]

You still haven't thought
of another explanation.

Remember what's on the shelf
opposite the swarm?

The library is huge.

I don't know

The Atlantean Shield.

The shield deflects magic,

but can also concentrate
sunlight into a powerful beam.

If the shield was activated,

it could have scorched the swarm
and cake mix containers.

[Steve] Oh, really?

if you don't mind me asking?

Uh, my dad's a property developer.

Maybe you've, uh, heard of him.
