[A Journey To Love]

[Episode 37]

Ren Xin?

Yes.

I'm back from the Palace of Hell.

Deng Hui.

Take her down!

Father, save me!

What on earth do you want?

The question should be

what you and your son did outside Tianmenguan!

What does that mean? Tianmenguan?

Beipan is involved?

Kill!

Who are you?

What do you two want?

I'm Ning Yuanzhou, the chief of Wu's Liudao Hall.

I'm here today

to get you, an unworthy ruler,

to send reinforcements to He County instantly

to fight against Beipan.

Beipan?

Beipan is attacking us?

Li Zhenye.

Tell all the officials

exactly what you did

outside Tianmenguan.

Otherwise…

It was not me! It was my father.

Zhenye!

He told me to let Beipan's army in!

It was him!

You ingrate.

He said there've been complaints about him in the court,

so he's willing to use 50,000 taels of silver,

100,000 stones of grains, and several cities

to make a deal with Beipan.

Beipan will defeat Duke Chu first

and then pretend to lose to my father!

Shut up!

That's total bull!

This is the letter

Li Sun asked Li Zhenye to write to Beipan.

His personal seal is on it.

Li Zhenye's attendant

who opened the gates of Tianmenguan with him

can testify to it.

He's now tied to the dismounting stele outside the ancestral temple.

You can interrogate him anytime.

His Majesty has really…

Officials,

Traitor Ren didn't dare to kill me last time.

This time…

Miss Ren.

I'm Empress Zhaojie's only son.

You don't deserve to mention Her Majesty.

Zhen…

Look carefully, everyone.

This is what comes of treason.

You collude with Beipan,

you die.

The crown prince died.

The crown prince died!

Now,

are you still going to deny your collusion with Beipan?

Do you still think I won't kill you?

If you want to live,

you must issue a statement of repentance

and swear to the ancestors of An

that you'll deploy troops right away to repel Beipan.

I'm the emperor of An.

I don't take orders from someone from Wu.

Now that everyone knows your collusion with Beipan,

do you think you still have a way out?

Your Majesty.

Today,

either you die here,

or

you issue a statement of repentance

and send troops to He County.

Get me paper and a brush. I'll write it.

How can an emperor be reduced to that?

No.

His Majesty admits that Beipan people are coming.

No matter what, we must repel them.

Wait.

Master, it's a trap.

Don't be fooled by him.

Ruyi!

Go! Go!

Ren Ruyi is suffering from old injuries

and Ning Yuanzhou's internal force seems unstable.

Protect His Majesty!

Take them away.

Uncle.

Sorry I'm late.

Uncle, don't worry.

I'll enforce your final edict

and dedicate myself completely

to serving Third Prince.

What's going on?

-Your Majesty. -Your Majesty.

His Majesty died. To maintain order in the court,

Third Prince is to ascend the throne now.

When has His Majesty agreed…

Did the late emperor have any other sons?

Or do you think

I, the late emperor's nephew,

am a better successor than Third Prince?

Marquis Wuyang, Grand Councilor Wang,

what do you think?

I can testify to it.

Last month, His Majesty summoned Duke Qing to the court.

He said Duke Qing has royal blood

and has been given the royal surname,

so he should do his best to serve Third Prince in the future.

I was there when they talked.

Any more questions?

Then

let us

bid farewell to the late emperor.

Farewell to the late emperor.

Please forgive me, My Lord.

Get lost.

I killed Li Sun without your permission.

But I don't regret it.

Because getting rid of him for good

is the best solution.

If I hadn't reacted quickly,

we'd…

He deserved to die.

Isn't it good that you're in power now?

Ning Yuanzhou wouldn't kill him,

but you couldn't miss this great chance.

An is leaderless now but you can lead the army.

As long as you repel Beipan,

you'll be the ruler of An.

If Li Sun was still alive,

you'd have to be on the run.

Taking a leap of faith is better than being a sitting duck.

I deserve death for taking such liberties.

Please punish me.

I won't regret it

even if the price is death.

You've pushed me past the point of no return.

Why would I kill you?

To send you to hell with Li Sun?

The late emperor perished unexpectedly

and returned to the cosmos.

With God's blessing

and by the will of God,

I'll ascend the throne.

However, as a young emperor,

I don't have the ability to rule yet.

Therefore, Duke Qing, Li Tongguang, will be the regent

to keep order in the court.

The invasion from Beipan

is the most pressing concern now.

So the mourning shall be simple

and end in three days.

Spread this edict far and wide

to let all be known.

All officials, for their loyalty and diligence,

will be rewarded with two years' salary.

The imperial grace also extends to their offspring.

Duke Chu, Duke Cui,

Prince Jin,

and Princess Chu Yue

will each be granted an additional fief of 300 households.

A bastard has become the regent.

Shazhong Tribe will not obey him!

-No. -Definitely not!

[The horse riding arena of Shazhong Tribe]

Why? This is not right!

-Why? -Why?

-On your knees! -Why?

I've also taken care of the tribes

that used to be on First Prince's side.

Thank you.

I knew you'd help me

but didn't expect you to help me so much.

Two generations back,

eight out of ten Deng family's men

died at Beipan people's hands.

The father and son let Beipan people in,

so they don't deserve my loyalty anymore.

I knew you'd do it

but didn't expect it to be so soon.

Being a regent is hard.

Watch out for yourself.

Yunxiang.

The imperial edict to make you the empress dowager will be issued soon.

The Chu family will be the leader of Shaxi Tribe.

Chu Yue will get an additional fief of 300 households.

I

have fulfilled my promise in advance.

I hope

you can take good care of the young emperor

as we agreed.

The situation is perilous at the front line.

I'm leading troops to reinforce your brother.

From now on,

don't upset me again.

Otherwise,

don't blame me for going hard on you.

[Duke Qing's Mansion]

Master,

I know this is not right.

But after tonight,

I'm going to fight at He County with little chance of surviving.

I don't expect to come back alive and see you again.

I can only say goodbye to you in this way.

A double dose of the muscle-softening powder

is not enough to make me give in.

Now, at once,

release Ning Yuanzhou.

I'll release him.

This is the antidote to the muscle-softening powder.

Here, take it.

Wait for me.

I have some scores to settle with him.

Even the heavily guarded imperial prison can't keep you away.

I should've known better

and shattered your shoulder blades.

Even if I went to hell,

I'd still come back to take your life.

The first two punches are for attacking me.

The last kick is for stealing my woman.

Li Tongguang.

You're a coward.

You only dare to use dirty tricks

to threaten and force her.

You don't deserve to be a man.

Even if I don't,

I don't regret it.

I'm not like you.

You're a candy ass.

You didn't even dare to kill the old emperor.

You're wrong.

I'm not a candy ass.

I just know what I should and shouldn't do.

I let him live and will let you live.

It's just because sparing lives

can save more people than taking lives.

Li Tongguang.

If you want to be a real man,

you have to let go of some of your obsessions.

If you want to become a man

who rules,

you have to put people's lives

before your power and position.

If it weren't for

your full commitment to the war against Beipan,

do you think Liudao Hall's reincarnation sword

would let you off?

You look amazing in red.

When we get married in the future,

you should be dressed like this too.

Okay?

No.

Not in the future.

We'll get married now,

at once,

right away.

Okay.

♫If love does exist♫

♫Let's look back in our next life♫

Take my order.

Gather all the Imperial Guards

of Yulin, the court, and the cavalry camp,

together with the troops of Shadong and Shazhong.

I'll go to battle as soon as possible.

But Shadong Tribe and Shazhong Tribe

may not agree to send troops at this moment.

Why don't you quell civil unrest first

and think about repelling Beipan later?

If I prioritized personal interests over national defense,

I'd be no different from that old man.

If they refuse,

let them be.

Even if I only have thousands of Yulin Guards

and the cavalry slaves of Shaxi Tribe,

I'll still go to battle personally.

At worst,

I'd go down in history as a regent

who had no allies and died fighting.

You'll not die fighting without any allies.

Duke Qing.

I'm here with a letter from Wu.

Leave us.

According to Liudao Hall's secret informant,

Beipan people have rallied all their forces

and come back with an army of 50,000.

My brother is defending He County personally,

so he appointed me envoy

to present the national letter.

[National Letter]

This letter has the seals of my brother and Brother Danyang.

It says that Beipan's invasion

will subject countless civilians, young and old, men and women,

to brutal violence.

Therefore,

Wu is willing to put aside the old feuds

and form an alliance with An.

We'll pour every resource we have into fighting the enemy with An.

Tomorrow,

I'll discuss it with high-ranking officials

before formally replying to this letter.

The situation is highly volatile.

You can send a messenger pigeon back now

and tell your emperor

that I'm grateful for his support

and he can take action

as he sees fit.

As you wish.

Aren't you leaving?

There's something else I want from you.

What's it?

Marriage letter.

I want to marry you.

Just taking power, you're fretting over

disobedient tribes, aren't you?

The whole world knows the late emperor of An appointed me crown princess.

If I marry you,

the whole state of Wu

will become your backup.

With this national letter

and the reinforcements of my two brothers,

no one in An

dares to question you again.

The wedding dress Ruyi took off,

I'll wear it.

The mess you made,

I'll clean it up.

Don't worry. I don't love you,

but I'll be a good wife

and help you hold An.

And help my brothers, Yuan Lu,

and myself

hold our beloved home country, Wu.

As you wish.

On the 17th,

Yang Ying and Li Tongguang got married.

Wu and An officially formed an alliance.

On the 18th,

Li Tongguang went to war with an army of 30,000.

On the same day,

Beipan's Left Worthy Prince attacked He County again.

Leader of Shaxi and Liudao Hall joined hands to fight back.

Looks like we need to hurry up.

Chief.

There's something else.

Who are you?

[He County]

[The next day]

Hold your ground!

Or no one can go back alive!

No.

His Majesty has been taken by a Beipan soldier.

Your Majesty!

His Majesty has been taken by a Beipan soldier.

Your Majesty.

Where is His Majesty?

His Majesty has been taken by a Beipan soldier!

[Beipan's Left Worthy Prince]

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

Save His Majesty!

Who are you?

Remember my name.

I'm the most handsome man in the world, Yu Shisan.

We won!

We won!

We won! We won!

We won!

We won!

We won! We won!

We won! We won!

We won!

We won! We won!

We won!

In December, the sixth year of Wu's Yongyou reign period,

Wu and An's troops met at He County

and defeated Beipan.

Left Worthy Prince was captured alive.

Your idea was brilliant.

You came back in time to make it feasible.

We couldn't have defeated Beipan

without the generous help of fearless people like you.

Great hero.

Great hero.

So cute.

This is

for the great hero who drove away Beipan people.

Thank you.

You'll become a hero too, okay?

Okay.

Last time, you helped me escape.

This time, you helped the troops repel Beipan people.

Let me drink to you again.

You can become a general too.

Hero, put him down.

Your Majesty was determined to repel the enemy.

Of course we'd all be at your command.

Big hero, you must be tired.

Eat something.

Thank you, Madam.

He's over there.

Careful.

Thank you.

Thank you, Madam.

Young man.

You scared me.

Let's go.

Here, here.

-Leader of Shaxi is calling you. -Let's go.

He's Chu Yue's father.

Who is Chu Yue?

Princess Jin Ming.

Jin…

-Let's go. -Princess Jin Ming?

Here you are.

Leader of Shaxi.

It was this commandant of Liudao Hall

who came up with the great idea of pretending to be a Beipan soldier.

This is my son Chu Xu.

Nice to meet you.

[Chu Xu, Duke Chu's son, Chu Yue's elder brother]

It was your first battle.

You've got a lot to learn from him.

You flatter me.

What's your name, young man?

My name is Yu...

Ershisan.

What a weird name.

Forget it. Bring us the wine.

Cheers.

Cheers.

Cheers.

Your Majesty, I shall take my leave.

I'm fine. I'm not hurt.

I told you to stay in the posthouse to have a good rest.

Why did you come out?

I heard you won the battle.

I couldn't wait to see you.

Where are Yuan Lu, Qian Zhao, and Sun Lang?

Ning Yuanzhou?

♫When did the cold wind start?♫

♫Blowing off the leaves♫

♫Wandering in the world♫

They

♫The bell rang at midnight♫

are all gone.

♫Memories came to mind♫

♫If you're destined to leave♫

Chief.

There's something else.

♫It's useless to be obsessed♫

♫I gave you everything, but it came down to nothing♫

♫The world is unpredictable♫

♫Love or hate, no where to hide♫

♫We see each other in our eyes in the sunset♫

♫But life is full of ups and downs♫

♫It's fine even if there's just one moment left♫

♫Don't get lost in the cold dream full of north wind and yellow sand♫

♫Lost in bleakness, I have no one to comfort me♫

Qian.

Yuan Lu.

Sun Lang.

♫Time goes by♫

♫In this long journey, when will we meet again?♫

♫I'm lonely, wondering why we are apart after reunion♫

Yuanzhou?

What's wrong?

Nothing.

I was worried telling you

would affect your recovery.

I thought I was good at observing people.

♫Don't get lost in the cold dream full of joy and sadness♫

But I never noticed something was off with Qian Zhao.

I knew Yuan Lu

♫In the melancholy sunset glow, I look forward to seeing you again♫

would die before me.

But I didn't expect him to die so soon.

♫Life is too short♫

Shisan told me

♫It feels like a lifetime, and I stumble along♫

Sun Lang must have been very proud when he died.

Without him,

they couldn't have killed Right Worthy Prince in that battle.

♫I hope it's not too late and we can meet again♫

♫Time goes by♫

♫In this long journey, when will we meet again?♫

♫I hope it's not too late and we can be together again♫

You're drinking again.

You have a death wish?

Sit.

Fine.

I'll get drunk with you tonight.

Go ahead.

What's it?

Qian left this to us.

Yuan Lu was such a fool

and put his badge in before leaving.

You're the boss.

You're the one to keep it.

[Yuan Lu, Qian Zhao, Sun Lang]

We should drink with them.

Cheers.

♫Life is as unpredictable as the wind♫

♫Storm clouds are gathering♫

Here, have a dumpling.

♫A life of service♫

♫I only wish to fight the evil and defend the good♫

Thank you, Boss.

Wait. You carefully picked that one.

Something must be wrong with it.

♫Let's go through ups and downs together♫

Let me eat it.

-Sit down. -Let me eat it.

-You can eat this. -I want that.

♫The dark night seems endless, but we'll wait for the sky to lighten♫

-You can have the whole bowl of them. -No.

Eat up.

♫Don't blame me for having big dreams♫

Boss, seriously?

To make me take the pill,

♫A life of service♫

you put it in the dumpling?

♫I only wish to have the courage to overcome all difficulties♫

I-I didn't know about it.

♫My sacrifice is worth it♫

Fine. I'll eat it.

♫I make hard decisions to change the world♫

♫Hope we're all safe and sound when the dust settles♫

♫Life is as unpredictable as the wind♫

♫The night is dark and cold, and the day is long and hard♫

It's always been bitter.

♫Storm clouds are gathering♫

♫A life of service♫

♫Let's go through ups and downs together♫

Boss Ning.

♫The dark night seems endless, but we'll wait for the sky to lighten♫

Boss.

Boss Ning.

I'll bring flowers to your grave.

♫Don't blame me for having big dreams♫

♫A life of service♫

♫I only wish to have the courage to overcome all difficulties♫

It's fun, isn't it?

This is why

everyone likes to work with Boss Ning.
