[A Journey To Love]

[Episode 8]

General, slow down.

The soldiers behind can't keep up.

Then tell them to run faster!

Ning Yuanzhou is such a jerk!

He actually played me!

How long until we reach Shuzhou?

We're going 15 miles per hour

and are about 60 miles from Shuzhou.

So it'll take at least four hours.

When we sent out the messenger pigeon,

Zhou Jian had passed Bashili Fortress.

In other words,

he's just 2 hours away from us.

He'll catch up.

A tough battle is inevitable.

Yuan Lu.

Give me two thunderbombs.

We have one more hour now.

Well done.

Sun Lang.

Do that again at suitable places ahead.

We're not going to Shuzhou.

We'll go to Tianxing Gorge.

Zhou Jian has an army of 1,000.

[Tianxing Gorge, the State of Wu]

Apart from the princess, Mr. Du,

and a few others who don't know martial arts,

only 60 people in the delegation can fight.

So if we split into two groups,

they'll split up to come after us as well.

I was here at Tianxing Gorge with my godfather 10 years ago.

It's about one kilometer long.

The narrowest place is only about 6 meters wide.

Only four horses can pass it at the same time.

So by ambushing them at different places,

we can divide Zhou Jian's long lines of troops.

We're outnumbered,

but we can still win.

I can lead several men to distract them.

I've brought some trapping devices with me.

Boss, I can ambush them at the entrance of the gorge.

Okay.

I'll protect Her Highness.

60 against 500.

At least half of your men will die or get injured.

Why are you

willing to put them in danger this time?

As the chief, it's my duty

to make sure no one dies for nothing

when casualties are inevitable.

Besides, only by winning this battle

can we keep Prince Danyang

off the delegation's back for a while.

How can I help?

Beauty, you're from the State of Chu after all.

It's fine for you to help us ward off assassins,

but this is a conflict within the State of Wu.

The battle later is gonna be fierce.

If you get hurt…

You said

we're partners.

Fine.

I need you to take someone's life.

Your target

is Zhou Jian.

Deeper.

Okay.

It's done.

Is this enough?

Boss.

No. I'm not leaving.

Your Highness. Your Highness!

Yuan…

Mr. Ning.

I don't want to leave with Mr. Du and Commandant Qian.

I want to stay

to face the enemies with you.

Be good.

Our duty is to make sure

you and Mr. Du safely arrive in the State of An.

But I'm the leader of the delegation.

If I leave you and run for my life,

what will become of me?

Besides,

if worst comes to worst

and something happens to you guys,

can Commandant Qian alone

keep me and Mr. Du safe

in the State of An?

Yuanzhou.

You keep saying that I need to be brave

and fulfill my duties.

I'm finally not afraid of death this time.

Just let me stay with you guys.

She's right.

You have your duties.

She has hers as part of the royal family.

Witnessing the battle can help her

manifest more composure in the State of An.

Fine.

Be careful.

Qian Zhao.

Yes.

You'll lie in ambush in the middle.

Okay.

Ding Hui.

Yes.

Later, take Prince Li and Mr. Du

to a safe place behind the gorge.

Okay.

Take this.

Curl up in a ball when arrows come your way.

You're least likely to get hurt that way.

If someone tries to hurt you,

hit them here.

God bless.

God bless.

What's taken Yu Shisan so long?

It's fifteen minutes later than we expected.

I made some laxative medicines just now

and asked him to put them in the river by the fork.

The soldiers have trudged a long way here

and must be exhausted.

When they see the water at the fork,

they'll definitely drink it.

They're Wu people too,

so I didn't use poison.

But they'll be at least 30 percent weaker.

Report!

General.

A farmer ahead said an hour ago,

he saw dozens of people passing by

with a four-in-hand carriage.

Form up!

General.

Prince Li's carriage is pulled by two horses.

But the wheel tracks on the road to Tianxing Gorge

are obviously deeper.

They must have split into two groups.

One group escorts Prince Li.

The other group transports the gold.

After leaving Tianxing Gorge,

they can meet at Liu Town in Lingzhou.

General.

Which way should we go?

Ning Yuanzhou is cunning.

He knows I'll come after him

and Prince Li.

He's trying to mislead me into turning left.

On my command.

Take 300 men with you and go left.

The rest 700 soldiers

will go to Tianxing Gorge with me!

Yes.

Let's go.

Let's do it.

Yes.

That's Prince Li's carriage.

It's right ahead. Go get them!

Ambush!

Stop!

We surrender!

We surrender.

My stomach hurts.

The water was poisoned!

Poisoned?

The water was poisoned.

We've been poisoned.

Don't panic!

Maintain military discipline!

Keep going.

Anyone who disobeys will be executed.

Send out scouts.

Yes.

Go.

Disperse!

Protect the general!

Fight!

Patty-cake.

Patty-cake. Baker's man.

Bake these men as fast as you can.

God bless.

Ruyi!

Help! Help!

Your Highness.

Sorry. Sorry.

Your Highness. Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Mr. Du.

I didn't know you were good with a bow.

Archery is one of the six skills a Confucian scholar is supposed to master.

I practiced it when I was young.

Your Highness.

How can Prince Danyang be so cruel to his family?

Even a civilian official like me has been forced to kill.

He has no heart.

Soldiers, on my command.

Keep the defensive formation and retreat slowly.

Back.

Back.

Back.

We need to cut off the head of the snake.

Kill!

Stop them.

Kill!

♫They stab me in the back but I'll come back stronger♫

♫My roar shakes the ground when I wield my sword♫

♫They say I have no future but I'll rock the world♫

♫The sky is burning♫

♫There is no right or wrong♫

♫There is no right or wrong♫

Keep the formation!

♫There is no right or wrong♫

Don't panic!

There are too many soldiers around Zhou Jian.

I can't get past them.

At least 300 of them can still fight.

♫They stab me in the back but I'll come back stronger♫

I'll cover you. Let's go.

♫My roar shakes the ground when I wield my sword♫

♫They say I have no future but I'll rock the world♫

♫The sky is burning♫

♫There is no right or wrong♫

You all right?

Yes.

Strike once.

♫There is no right or wrong♫

Strike twice.

Time for you halfwits to meet death.

♫There is no right or wrong♫

Watch out!

No!

I thought you were not coming back!

The most handsome man

usually doesn't show up until the last minute.

Archers!

There's cover over there.

Send 10 men to capture Prince Li alive.

Yes.

You guys, go!

We must take down Zhou Jian immediately.

Otherwise, we'll all die.

I can get to him from above.

I need you to give me a foothold.

Throw me out with all your strength.

No.

When you're in the air,

you can't dodge arrows.

Then can you go above?

You're much heavier than me.

You can't leap over the rocks.

No.

It's a conflict within the State of Wu.

You don't have to get yourself killed for it.

It's the most efficient solution.

But it's not the best solution.

And you promised me

to follow my lead.

Ning Yuanzhou.

If you help me get to him,

I won't force you to have a baby with me anymore.

Help me.

♫The moon has set, and you have left♫

♫I've been stumbling on this journey to love♫

♫If this is somehow a game of fate, I'm glad to play it with you♫

She's up there.

♫You mended my broken heart and it beats for you now♫

♫I don't care what people will say♫

♫I don't mind being nobody as long as I'm somebody to you♫

♫Time flies but love remains♫

♫Who knows what the future will bring?♫

♫When the wind rises and the snow falls, it's your love that keeps me warm♫

♫I'm in too deep to turn back♫

♫What I want for us is a happy ever after♫

♫We're nobodies but this great love story will go down in history♫

Prince Li is the royal family's envoy.

Zhou Jian attempted to harm the prince

and has been taken under control.

Drop your weapons now

and I can spare your lives.

We won!

We won!

We won!

We won! We won!

We won! We won!

We won!

We won! We won!

We won! We won!

We won! We won!

We won! We won!

We won! We won!

We won! We won!

Yuan Lu.

Yuan Lu!

[Lingyun Inn, Lingzhou]

Be careful.

Boss, the ginseng soup is here.

This is the nearest inn to Tianxing Gorge.

I've sent someone to see the regional inspector.

He'll come within two hours.

The regional inspector of Lingzhou was Zhang Song's student.

We're in his jurisdiction.

Cut the number of night sentries in half.

Okay.

The Scarlet Guards are quite influential in this area.

Tell the delegation to move into the west wing.

Got it. I'll arrange it.

What's wrong with Yuan Lu?

He was born with heart disease

and should avoid being too excited or tired.

The candies he takes every day

are actually pills.

That's why

everyone treats him so well.

Can't you find a good physician to cure him?

The imperial physician said

he needs to make it to 20 years old first.

In other words,

he may die before he's 20.

Isn't he worried at all?

On the contrary,

he's worried sick,

so he doesn't dare to check on Yuan Lu or ask about him.

He just pretends like nothing's wrong

and hopes when he turns around,

Yuan Lu is back on his feet again like last time.

You know them well.

But I don't know you very well.

Why did you risk your life for us just now?

I was just curious

about the feeling you talked about last night.

I wanted to know

what it felt like

to have someone

who had my back.

Then how do you like that feeling?

It's a bit troublesome.

But fighting with a partner

is more efficient than fighting alone.

You disobeyed me

and went rogue again.

It was noisy in the gorge

and my wound hurt a lot.

I didn't hear you.

Where are you hurt?

I hit my back on the rocks.

Isn't your arm injured too?

My arm is fine.

Mr. Ning.

Mr. Du.

Go ask Qian Zhao for medicine.

I'll check on you later.

Mr. Du, I was looking for you.

Later, when the regional inspector of Lingzhou comes,

I need you to receive him on behalf of Her Highness.

Me?

Yes.

Yuanzhou asked me to pretend to be sick

and wouldn't let the regional inspector meet me.

Is he worried that I may blow my cover?

You've never seen so many dead and injured men before.

He's afraid that you can't stay composed.

I'm so useless.

Will Yuan Lu

get it through?

God will decide that.

Ruyi.

Can you teach me how to kill?

I don't want anyone to get hurt

or die for me anymore.

Stab 300 times in a row.

Try not to miss the circle.

After you're done,

you'll know how to kill.

Qian, is that thing so hard to get?

I'll go search for it.

I'll go.

-Let me go. -We'll figure something out.

We can definitely get it.

What's going on?

Yuan Lu's condition suddenly worsened.

He's having a high fever.

Mr. Qian said

we need the gallbladder of a many-banded krait to save him.

Ning Yuanzhou is talking with the regional inspector

in the west wing.

Ask him to send someone to buy it.

No. We need a fresh gallbladder.

Is one enough?

Does it have to be a many-banded krait's gallbladder?

What does that kind of snake look like?

Yeah. What does it look like?

Enough.

You don't even know what the snake looks like and where to find one.

Go ask someone working in the inn.

I did.

In Qingjing Mountain 13 miles to the west

and Shahe Ravine to the north,

people have seen that kind of snake.

Qingjing Mountain.

Lingzhou.

I'll go to Qingjing Mountain.

I'll go with you.

Ding Hui, let's go to Shahe Ravine.

Okay.

Qian, we're leaving.

Beauty.

The road up the mountain is over there.

Why are we taking this way?

There are snakes near the creek

in Qingjing Mountain.

Someone told me that.

Really?

Rest assured, Mr. Du.

I'll immediately have a few trusted people

escort Zhou Jian to the capital.

With my teacher Prime Minister Zhang there,

Prince Danyang won't be able to harass the delegation again.

I'm relieved to hear that.

Thank you.

I'll see myself out.

We're still several cities away from the State of An.

I hope what happened today won't happen again.

No one can guarantee that.

Now that His Majesty is held captive,

many people have taken Prince Danyang's side.

We eliminated Zhou Jian's troops today

at great cost

because we had to set an example.

Those against us

will have to think twice

before coming at us.

I thought it'd only be so dangerous after we arrived in the State of An.

But unexpectedly,

blood has already been spilled before we even leave Wu.

Don't worry, Mr. Du.

The Liudao Hall

will keep Her Highness safe.

Thank you.

Blood!

-Mr. Ning, you're injured. -Mr. Du, I'm fine.

I'll dress the wound later.

You've had a long day. Have a good rest.

I'll go check on Yuan Lu.

Don't worry.

Okay.

I just used antelope horns to get his temp down a little.

But if we can't get the gallbladder,

he won't make it through the night.

Have you sent people out to search for it?

Everyone who can help is out.

Hope they don't come back empty-handed.

By the way,

how is Miss Ren's injury?

She's injured?

Where is she?

She went to Qingjing Mountain with Shisan.

I can take care of things here.

In front of me,

you can be yourself.

Snake tracks.

There it is.

It's a sharp-nosed viper.

The sharp-nosed viper is venomous too.

Maybe its gallbladder will work as well.

You're amazing.

You knew we'd find a venomous snake here.

Here, put it in.

There won't be another kind of venomous snake within 150 meters.

Let's go somewhere else.

Let's go.

Darn it. It's almost dawn.

Snakes don't come out during the day.

If we go back too late,

I'm afraid Yuan Lu…

How about we catch some mice

and cut them without killing them?

The smell of blood may draw snakes over.

Okay.

Get it.

Watch out!

-Are you all right? -Are you all right?

I'm right as rain!

The snake is all right too.

Very alive.

You've torn your wound open.

Your arm is dislocated again.

I'm fine.

Ning.

Our horses ran away.

I need to send the snake back immediately,

so I have to borrow your horse.

You can come back with Beauty after she tends to your wound.

Take your time.

Stay here as long as you need.

No hurry.

Yu Shisan!

It's gonna hurt.

Do you even know how to…

See if you can move your arm.

Yes.

Check the wound on my back for me.

Check the wound.

Breathe in.

Does it hurt?

Yes.

Breathe in again.

Does it hurt here?

No.

Pull your clothes up.

You didn't get badly hurt during the day.

It's the old wounds that are hurting.

I'll dress them for you after we go back.

No need.

It's inconvenient.

What's wrong with you?

Nothing.

Are you shy?

If I'd known this worked for you,

I should've showered in front of you

like the guards did.

Don't do that in front of other men.

You're a girl after all.

For assassins, there are no men and women,

just the dead and the alive.

It's almost dawn.

Let's go.

How did you know there were snakes in Qingjing Mountain?

When Empress Zhaojie taught me to read,

she used a book called The Life in Qingjing Mountain.

I read in it

that there were venomous snakes in this mountain.

I just didn't realize this place was the Lingzhou

mentioned in the book.

Empress Zhaojie was really nice to you.

She was.

She not only taught me to read

but also bought me a house.

She said although I was often away from the capital,

as a girl,

I still needed to have a house of my own.

What's wrong?

Ten-Day Qianji?

Haven't you got the antidote?

It's the first seizure triggered by the poison.

I can use my internal force to suppress it.

You've only regained half of your internal force.

Shut up.

♫I don't know how to put it♫

♫Every time I turn around♫

♫I expect to see you there♫

♫I've had too much to drink♫

♫But I can't drink away my woes♫

♫I'm hopelessly in love♫

♫Drunk, I saw your eyes; dreaming, I had you in my arms♫

♫Waking up sober, I only miss you more♫

♫You're God's gift to me♫

♫Your smile breaks up the dark like the light of dawn♫

♫You light up my world like a shooting star♫

♫You came a long way and still have a long way to go♫

♫No one knows your name♫

♫But everything you shed light on♫

♫Will remember your radiance♫

♫I always wear a frown♫

♫Only you know why♫

The sun is up.

♫I once gave up hope♫

A grassy meadow

♫You left me with a broken heart♫

with pot marigolds here and there.

Such wonderful views extend for miles.

♫I should forget about you but I can't♫

Ning Yuanzhou.

♫How can I let go?♫

Do you see that?

What Empress Zhaojie said was true.

♫Drowning my sorrows is like cutting running water with a knife♫

♫It feels like I can never reach the end of the tunnel♫

♫When the ship sails♫

♫As long as I'm with you, I don't care how far the destination is♫

♫You're my conscience♫

♫Someone from the past who made me blue♫

♫You're the wine I can never get enough of♫

♫An indispensable part of my life♫

Here.

♫My one and only♫

Are you really all right now?

Yes.

Zhang Song's men have known I'm here.

The antidote will be delivered to me tonight.

Good.

You…

Don't move.

This was in your hair.

Don't be so guarded.

I just find you adorable

and want to be nice to you.

Besides,

I gave you my word yesterday in Tianxing Gorge.

You helped me kill Zhou Jian,

so I won't force you to have a baby with me anymore.

I'll keep my word.

Why did you suddenly…

I can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink.

You're right.

There are many good men out there.

You're not my only option.

How is Yuan Lu?

He's awake.

He made it through.

I'll go check on him.

What?

I heard your voice and hurried out.

I didn't expect to see something even more exciting

than what Yu told me.

Cousin wouldn't leave you alone

but suddenly walked away from you.

You must feel upset.

Ruyi.

Don't get up.

Thank you.

You and Shisan caught the snake and saved me.

You lent me your crossbow. I just returned your favor.

Have a good rest.

This is for you.
