There was the lifeless bodies Of two people in the front.

A male and a female...

She doesn't know if Whoever's responsible for this

When my phone rang, I immediately knew what it was.

Three people?

The dispatcher told me three People were shot on anna street.

Typically, shooting calls Are usually one-on-one.

It's not often that you get More than one victim.

Good lord. All right, I'm on my way.

So, now church Is gonna have to be put off

And I'm gonna Have to go to a crime scene.

This crime Occurred in allendale.

It's one of the oldest Neighborhoods in the city.

Predominantly A black neighborhood

With a traditional Sort of feel to it.

When I get to the scene, Detective toby mitchell's there.

Finally got a suit That fits.

He's a really smart detective, A really sharp detective.

So, what Do we got here?

We got a total Of three victims.

Two are already dead.

Third's in bad shape on His way to the hospital now.

The three victims That were found in the car

Were all in Their early to mid-20s.

Christopher hayslette And kendra hill

Were in the front seat.

Troy crayton was in the back.

Inside the vehicle there were Two .380 spent shell casings.

There should be more.

There were obviously More than two shots fired.

The bottoms Is a very dangerous place

Because of the activity That happens there.

In fact, about a month ago,

We found the mummified remains Of a murder victim

Right here in this area.

That matched the shell casings At the crime scene.

That's a little bit Of blood there.

I think it's safe to say we Found our original crime scene.

And ran away From the crime scene.

It didn't feel real.

We need to get this thing Solved as quickly as we can

In the triple shooting I'm investigating.

After hitting more Than a few dead ends,

I'm in the box With eddie jenson,

The heroin user we found Hiding in an abandoned house

Near the crime scene.

Jenson isn't my shooter,

But he claims He saw the crime go down.

Jenson told me he was Just about to shoot up...

...When he heard A car pull up outside.

There were four people In the car.

Three of them were white, And the other was a black dude.

Mr. Jenson Said the vehicle stopped,

The unknown black male got out,

And approached someone He knew from the neighborhood,

A fellow by the name danny boy.

And the two Began talking,

That's when I heard The bang, bang, bang.

There was A bunch of them.

Mr. Jenson tells investigators When he looked outside,

The vehicle was gone, The unknown black male was gone,

And danny boy Was nowhere to be seen.

He doesn't want anything To do with it.

He goes back to shooting up His heroin.

Now, danny boy And this other guy,

What were they wearing?

I think They had on some jeans.

Danny boy Had on a black shirt,

And the other had on A plain white t-shirt.

That was significant Because we found

A white bloody t-shirt Near the crime scene.

What did the guy in The white t-shirt look like?

I don't know. Tall, slender, with a goatee.

Had a twisted look About him, you know?

After talking to jenson, I know where I need to go now.

Demery: thankfully, it doesn't Take long to locate danny boy.

One of our officers Knew exactly where to find him.

Danny boy comes in And is a fast talker.

He's a hustler.

I thought it was important That I let danny boy know

Go to prison For being a part of this murder.

That changed His entire demeanor.

At that point, He wanted to talk.

When I hear the name "Twin," I'm giving pause

Because I know twin.

Twin's real name is eric mccall.

In violent crime, His name has always come up.

Twin is definitely somebody Who is evil enough to do this.

I'd describe him As the spawn of satan.

I'm working a double murder, And now I found danny boy

Who claims to have witnessed An individual

By the name of twin Commit the murders.

Danny boy told me That twin pulls up

With three white people In the car.

Danny boy told him He didn't have the gun.

Twin went inside the house.

He goes by the nickname Of "Bubblegum."

According to danny boy,

He said he was expecting Twin to rob them,

But he walked up to the car

And just starting firing shots Into the car.

For an opportunity to get Some money from the robbery,

But when twin started shooting,

I think it just Took them all off-guard.

After talking to danny boy, I didn't let him go.

I had heard that he had stolen Some checks from a church.

So, I charged danny boy With forgery.

My priority is finding Eric mccall,

Better known as twin.

So, I put out his description,

Crow: eventually, the call comes In about a suspicious person

Fitting the physical description Of eric mccall.

The fingerprints That were retrieved from the car

Identified as belonging to twin.

The dna on the bloody t-shirt Also matched eric mccall, twin.

In addition To the physical evidence,

A little more worried With the situation.

Then we start To approach sprague street,

Which I know is Not a good street to be on.

Sprague street is known For its drugs.

I know that a lot of people Think that's what

We were there to buy, Which isn't the case.

Just trying to get someone To where they wanted to go.

The speculation would be That chris, kendra, and troy

Would have been looking for Drugs, but I think the reality

Is that they allowed eric mccall Into their vehicle

And they had no idea what they Were getting themselves into.

And that's when it happened.

Demery: After eric shot these people,

He moved the man's body out of The way and took off in the car.

They only drove A couple of blocks

And got out of the car and ran.

[ tires screeching ]

Seeing a big flash

Was the last thing I remember.

Then I woke up In a hospital bed.

Demery: Troy crayton filled in many Of the blanks in the case

And helped to cement The charges against eric mccall,

But to this day, The motive for the shooting

Remains unclear.

That's the million-dollar Question.

There was no money missing, So it wasn't a robbery.

There was no drugs Laying around,

So it's not like it was A drug deal gone bad.

Nobody seems to know why Eric mccall pulled that trigger.

Demery: I think mccall Just wanted to kill

As many people as he could.

The fact that he shot them One by one with no concern.

There's no logic to it.

Just an evil, sadistic murder. That's just who he is.

Eric mccall was charged With two counts

Of first-degree murder.

Eric went into court, Admitted what he did,

And took a life-sentence plea.

Emmett "Bubblegum" barrett Pled guilty

To providing the weapon And accessory to this murder

And was sentenced To 40 years in prison.

Daniel demming, "Danny boy," Was not found to be complicit

In the murders, but he Was arrested and charged

With stolen checks From the church.

I've been thinking About kendra a lot lately.

She could have been A really good friend, too.

Brown: I ran into a few people That have known kendra.

They say she was A really nice girl.

That just breaks my heart, too.

I didn't know her, But her family is really nice.

Crayton: And chris -- it was terrible To wake up and find out

That my best friend was dead.

You know, if I didn't call him To come pick me up,

He wouldn't be dead today.

We could still be friends And still hang out.

It would just be great if We could be fathers together.

Our son is doing fine And I love him so much.

This case is tragic On a lot of different levels.

There was so much that was lost By so many people at one time.

Those are the things That are inexplicable.

I can't explain why A person like eric mccall exists

In the first place, But I think we need to do

A better job at addressing it And taking them out.
