essential operations you need to know to use

your Yamaha PS R

E 3 8

3 keyboard this video also applies to the 76 keys

version of this keyboard which is the PS R E W3 20

as well as the key lighting version

which is Yamaha EZ3 1 0

the very first thing you need to know

after bringing home your keyboard

besides turning it on and adjusting the master volume

is to select your main voices

if you wanna select an organ voice here

for example

you press this button and if you continue to press it

it will scroll upwards the number will change upwards

to the corresponding instrument

if you know the number of the instrument

and you want to access it quickly

you need to turn on Num Lock

and to do that you press and hold shift

press Num Lock

you will see the word numlock activated on your L C

d screen and you can then use these

numeric pads here to select your voice

if I want voice No. 0 9 9

he will go immediately to the done space

for you to quickly activate the voice that you want

after you have selected your main voice

the next thing you wanna know how to do is to adjust

the volume of that main voice

you can do that by

heading into the function button over here

and you can scroll to the main volume

which is function No. 5 it says m volume

which is main volume

the lowest volume is 0 and the highest volume is 1 to 7

another way to get to this function

No. 5 quickly is to use the numeric keypad over here

if you know the function that you want is No. 5

you hit 0 0

5 and you will get to m volume immediately

once you come to this function

you can either use the plus and minus

to increase or decrease the volume

or

you can just punch in the exact volume that you want

if I want my volume to be 99

I can just punch in 99 the next thing you wanna know is

how to layer two voices to get a richer sound

to do that

you turn on dual over here and when you press it

you will see the word

duel will be activated on screen here

now when you play you will get two sounds

and to select your second voice

all you need to do is press shift and press duel

and over here

you will see that you are selecting the Dual Voice

d voice will come up and to select the duo Voice

you have the same way as selecting your main voice

which is by pressing either the category

and pressing it a couple of times

as you scroll through the

voices

or you can use the plus and minus button to increase

or decrease the voice number

you can also use your num lock by pressing shift

Num lock and punching in the number that you want

for the instrument which is 0

and once you have done that

you will be able to hear two voices

when you play the keys

after selecting your dual voice

the next essential operation

you wanna know is to change the volume

and to mix the volume of the main and dual voice

to do that hit over to the function key

you can either press up and down over here

to change the category

and door volume is function 0

0 9 or you can punch in the function number

for quick access to this feature

you can also use the number pad

to quickly go to that function

if you know what number it is

for example it is 0 0 9

and that's for the dual voice volume

to change the volume

you can either use the plus and minus over here

zero being the softest

as and hundred and twenty seven being the loudest

or you can just punch in the volume level that you won

if you won 55 you just have to punch in 5 5

now that you know how to select your main voice

and your duo voice the next thing you wanna know

how to do is to select a rhythm

from this style section here

for you to play along with

so there are a few ways you can select the rhythm

one way is to start with the category that you want

which over here is jazz and RMB

you press that

and you can continue pressing the button to increment

scroll through the rhythm in that section

the other way you can do

is to punch in the number associated with the rhythm

by ensuring your num lock is turned on

when your num lock is turned on

you can select the rhythm quickly

for example 1

2 3

and you can go to the corresponding rhythm immediately

after you have selected your rhythm

the next thing

you wanna do is to make sure that the tempo

which is the speed of the music

is correct and to do that

you head over here where it says tempo tap

press this button and on screen it will show tempo

which is the factory default for that style

different styles will have a different default

factory temple associated with it

if you want it quicker

you can either use the plus and minus button

to increase or decrease

alternatively

you can just punch in the exact temple that you want 1

2 4 for example and you go to 1

2 4

to jump out of this screen

all you need to do is press either this shift

or this shift button

and you will get to the main screen

now that you have selected your style

and adjust the temple

the next thing you wanna do is to adjust the style

rhythm volume so that is not too loud or not too soft

to do that you head over to the function

press on it

and you can either just use this plus and minus button

to scroll through the functions

until you see style volume

which is function 0 1

7 or you can punch in the function number directly

by using this number pad over here

which is 0

1 7 and you directly get up to style volume

to increase or decrease the style volume

you can use the plus and minus button

or you can just punch in using this numeric keypad

on the lower part of this section here

so if I'm using plus or minus

you see it increase or decrease

or I can just punch in the exact number

maximum volume will be 1 2 7

now that you know how to layer voices

as well as select your rhythm styles

the next thing you wanna know how to do

is to put it into accompanyment mode

to do that you have to make sure that ACMP is turned on

otherwise

you will only get percussion without the backing um

instruments so when ACMP is turned on

you will see this light up here

ACMP now it is in accompaniment mode

to start and stop your rhythm

you have to use this button here press start

and to stop

you didn't hear a backing instrument accompaniment

only drums that is because we have not played a chord

and without a chord the keyboard does not know

how to generate a backing accompaniment however

when you press start and you hit a chord

the keyboard will recognize a chord that you're playing

have chord

she got to stop it press stop

a more elegant way of starting the rhythm is to use

sync start

which is synchronized start

if you press this

the rhythm will not start until you play a chord

the rhythm will be waiting for you to press a chord

before it starts triggering

you can see this blinking dots here

this is to indicate you are in sync start mode

and the minute I play a chord

the rhythm starts

and to stop the rhythm press stop

tree 20 and ezac tree 10

comes with two rhythm variations

for every style that you select

now that you have made all your settings

on the keyboard you want

to make sure that

you can save a snapshot of all your settings

so that you can use it

whenever you come back to your keyboard

without having to set all the little

sound changes and style changes all over again

and to do that

you use this registration memory section over here

to save your settings into the 10

registration settings here you can press shift memory

and the screen will ask you

registration memory number

that you want to save your settings into

in this case I wanna save it into button No. 6

and I press six

if there is an existing setting in there

you will ask if you want to overwrite the all

and existing settings in there

and here we press yes

and all the settings would have been memorized into

registration memory No. 6

and to retrieve that registration memory

while you're playing

all you need to do is press registration memory

he will ask you

which registration memory do you want to load

and here we press 6 and instantly registration memory 6

the next thing you wanna know how to do

is to put it into accompanyment mode

to do that you have to make sure that ACMP is turned on

otherwise

you will only get percussion without the backing um
