My name is Cameron Wright.

I'm 34 years old, and I'm
from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A lot of people don't know

that Minneapolis had
a booming music scene,

especially in the '90s.

My mom ended up signing a record
deal with a major gospel label,

and I actually toured with her

as one of her background
singers.

I think I was 11.

Through her exposure
to the industry,

I started singing locally.

There was a church
I sang at,

and the pastor there actually
was connected to Stevie Wonder.

He played my demo,
and Stevie called my mom,

and then him and I sang a song
in front of like 30,000 people.

From that point on,

it was local stardom because
I sang with Stevie Wonder.

I continued to perform
throughout my teenage years,

and then I came out of
the closet when I was 17.

My pronouns are they/them.
I identify as nonbinary.

And you know,
I grew up in the church,

so it was difficult.

My mom, she had the phase
of denial.

Like, honey,
I'm sitting here with

a beat face and lip gloss.

There's nothing to deny.

Now that I'm older,
she's super supportive

but at the time, I went
and lived with my grandparents.

I express artistically
through my songwriting,

through my clothing.

I started getting piercings.

My grandma was having
gasp attacks every week.

But I was able just
to be myself.

And that's why I adore my
grandparents the way that I do,

because they love me
unconditionally.

In January,
my Grandma Jean passed.

The song that I'm singing,
"The Way We Were,"

just paints the picture
of all these beautiful memories.

She was another mom to me,
literally,

and I'm just so grateful to
and for her.

Whew!

What I feel being here
is immense gratitude.

I hope showing up as
a queer femme Black person

that I inspire people
to be themselves.

since I was 5.

What were you doing
at 5 years old singing?

My mother is
a professional gospel singer,

and she threw me on the stage
and made me sing

I know that's right.

When I was
4 or 5 years old,

we were
in Cheyenne, Wyoming,

cowboys were getting
everybody out to sing,

and my brother got up
and sang,

"You ain't nothing
but a hound dog,"

and they gave him
a quarter.

And I said, "I'll sing one."

And I got up and sang
"Jesus Loves Me."

They gave me a nickel.

I tell you,
the camaraderie

between the four coaches
is the best.

This is my third season.
This is my favorite.

For real?

it's conversations.

And it's easy.
It's organic.

And I love that.

I'm currently packing
for "The Voice,

and I'm onto my shoes,
but specifically my boots.

I have a slight boot obsession.
[ Laughs ]

My name is Eliza Pryor,
I am 17 years old,

and I'm originally
from Dallas, Texas,

but I currently live
in Los Angeles, California.

Growing up, I just loved
anything and everything

that was music.

But when I was
about 10 years old,

I started to get into acting
as well,

and I had the opportunity
to come out to California

for a couple of months.

I was cast in a movie

with Guy Pearce, Minnie Driver,
Pierce Brosnan,

and then I did a Netflix
TV show called "Team Kaylie."

I did a video game,
a Resident Evil 2 remake,

while also auditioning
and performing

and going back and forth
between Texas and California.

I live with my dad, mainly.

It hasn't been easy with my mom
being in Texas with my brothers,

but my family has been amazing
in making it work.

Definitely
a tough decision,

but we knew it was
the right one.

Los Angeles has
those opportunities for her,

and so we --
we just took a chance.

Every three months or so
we'd reassess --

Okay, are we doing
the right thing?

It's important to us
as a family

for her to have
normal life experiences.

I just got my nails done
for prom,

and now I am headed to
an a cappella rehearsal.

I'm in the jazz band
and a cappella group

at my high school,
which is so much fun.

I'm really wanting to
further pursue music,

so it's given me
the opportunity to do more gigs.

Tanner!

We know each other
through a kids a cappella group

that we were in together.

He's kind of the one
who also inspired me

to audition for this show.

Having one of the coaches turn
around would just mean so much.

My family has made incredible
sacrifices for my career.

I just want to show them that,
you know, it's worth it,

and I really just want to
make them proud.

The problem for me was that I
just couldn't grasp your range.

I got close to pushing it
when it changed that octave,

just going into your falsetto,

you just went up the octave
and pushed and I was like,

I heard what Snoop heard
at the very end,

which is this strength

that you didn't give us
till the end.

It was like
your belting voice.

And I think that's
something that,

as you age, is gonna get
stronger and more confident.

And I know that Snoop's
gonna be able to work on this

I'm 24 years old,

This blind audition is the
biggest performance of my life.

I've done other big performances

in musicals and choirs
and ensembles,

but it wasn't just me.

I love doing music
of fellow Asian artists,

whether it be pop, jazz,
or even classical,

like, I've always been someone

who has played around
with genre.

If I made a team today
it would mean so much

because I would make
so many people proud

I grew up
in a family of five.

I had my mom,
I had my dad.

My older brother's name
is Keith,

and then my younger brother's

We're just Filipino.

My parents moved here from the
Philippines before I was born.

Being raised
by Filipino immigrants,

when I told them that I wanted
to pursue theater in college,

they were definitely telling me
to maybe consider something else

or make sure to have a minor
so that I have a backup plan.

Very common
immigrant-parent language.

You will hear that a lot.

But my dad was really excited

about Hollywood
and celebrities,

and so he kind of was
always a big cheerleader for me.

2021,
I was a junior in college.

I was pursuing
a musical theater degree.

And then my mom
told me the news

that my dad was diagnosed
with cancer.

So I moved home,
and I was able to spend...

...the last bit of my dad's life
with him.

In my family,
we don't use a lot of words

to tell each other
how much we love each other

or how proud of each other
we are.

I remember
it was maybe a week or two

before we actually lost him

that I started telling him
"I love you" a lot more

'cause I was like...

I'm not gonna be
able to tell him for very long.

Ahh, God.
I wish he was here.

My dad passed away
almost three years ago today,

so it's crazy
that the blind audition overlaps

with his death anniversary.

I just think it's a sign
that he's always with me,

especially in
my biggest moments

and the moments
that mean the most to me

and the moments that would
have meant the most to him.

I really feel his presence
with me today.

Drake: The thing I love
about horses most

is they're so free
when you see them.

They just run around
and do whatever they want to do.

If I ride,
one of my favorite things

to do is just take off,
and you don't really know

where you're going.

I'm Drake Hyde, I'm 21,
and I'm from Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Growing up, I always
had horses out in the back

and several dogs,

and we had almost every animal
you could get.

So I took a job
at the equine hospital.

I am a vet tech.

I can just kind of help
the doctor in any way

he needs to be helped, really.

I'm kind of the black sheep
of the family.

Everyone else is a lot more
into the sports world.

I'm the only one that sings.

I didn't have anybody
teaching me how to sing.

Everything was trial and error.

I started singing with
a house band at a dance hall,

and then I started my own band.

We'd travel and play as much
as we're able to.

We follow him to every show
that he plays.

I'm just so proud of him.

He's worked so hard.

Drake:
Being from a small town,

you don't get to play in front
of many people very often.

So making it this far, it's
a blessing, and I'm honored.

I really work with kids
who have ADHD,

on the autism spectrum,

kids that have
physical disabilities,

And it's healed me
to help children in ways

that I feel like I didn't
always get the opportunity

to be helped and loved.

I'm the oldest of five siblings

and my mom
was a very complicated woman.

She could be the most fun person
to be around,

but she had severe
mental health issues,

so a lot of times
she wasn't able to be the mom.

And so I had to grow up
very fast.

When you love somebody
who is literally,

you know, your Jekyll
and your Hyde,

you don't trust.

You question everything,

and you, uh, really doubt
who you are.

When I was 13,

my mom lost custody,

and I was sent to go live
with my dad.

I didn't know my father
very well,

and we just didn't
really connect.

So, I felt very alone

and very angry
for a lot of my life.

to carry the world *

But I think
in that loneliness,

that's where
I have learned to write.

Whenever I could
I was making up stories

or making up songs,

writing in a dream journal,

or I just
was constantly singing.

Music was my safe haven.

I wasn't lonely *

I could pour all the hurt and
all the pain into that moment.

I would just close my eyes
and be transported.

so many resets in life.

would blossom again and again

That resilience

think I'd make it, period.

I am 24 years old
and I'm from Kauai, Hawaii.

Growing up on a small island,
it was a lot of freedom.

We spent a lot of time
in nature.

I love to freedive,
swimming with the fishes,

running up a mountain
or climbing a tree,

make lei and jewelry.

I'm 24 years old,

Taking the stage in Season 21,

I was very,
very nervous.

* From my hometown *

And when nobody turned,

it was just the most
gut-wrenching feeling ever.

The reason why you will succeed
when you return

is because of the way
you handled this moment,

and you are clearly
not afraid to do the work.

You know, I felt sad,
but I was really inspired

by what the coaches had to say.

* Always had your heart *

I was 21,
and I thought

that I was going to finish
school right away

and maybe start gigging,

and then life just threw me
a huge curveball.

I had a crazy allergic reaction,

started with hives
and hair loss.

I was suffering from heart
palpitations and heart flutters.

And then upon going to the E.R.,

they told me I'd developed
a heart disease

called myocarditis.

[ Voice breaking ] And, um...
Sorry. [ Chuckles ]

It was really scary

because I couldn't get out
more than three words at a time.

Couldn't even really talk
without gasping for air.

The first thought
that came to my mind was,

am I going to be
able to sing again?

You know, in that moment
you just think, like,

am I going to die?

I'm too young
to have this happen.

I think going through something
as scary as that,

it really kind of puts
into perspective what matters.

You just kind of realize you
need to fight for what you want.

And so, I've literally
just nonstop worked

on my heart health
with my doctors.

I worked on singing,

and now, three years later,

I can finish a song,
and I can dance a little, too.

I'm just so blessed
to even be here.

Last time you saw me,

I was a full time caregiver
for my oldest brother, Corben,

who broke his
neck playing football.

So, for 15 years,
I've given him care.

But after this health scare,

it feels like we've
kind of swapped roles.

He's my best friend.
He's my champion.

He is honestly a huge reason
why I'm back.

Yeah, life has thrown us
quite a few curveballs,

and one thing that our family
has always held

is that it doesn't stop us.

He's raised them
to not be quitters.

We don't quit.
They're not quitting.

We have two brand
new coaches.

It's a whole panel of coaches
that I've never had.

So, I'm feeling very hopeful.

I just am fueled with excitement

that it's like, okay, I'm ready
to get on that stage.

I'm not scared anymore.
