building this out a little bit.

Today we get a real-world object
and build something out of it

so that there's a beautiful blend

between the LEGO
and the real-life object.

First thing I thought of
when we actually got this

is building a tree out of it.

I thought that would be so sort of,

OK, mechanical going back to
the earth, nature, type thing.

Mm-hm.

We're doing a tree that's growing
out of the chainsaw.

We're going to have people
in a treehouse

and we're going to have lumberjacks
at the bottom,

trying to cut it down.

I love this idea because
it's so sort of natural.

It's, like, the chainsaw
versus the tree type of thing

that the tree's
taken over the chainsaw

and the tree's winning type of deal.

It's, like, good-bad, or that's how
I think about it, anyway.

What we'll do is we'll build it
so it looks bendy.

Yep. Into it.

Going to get started.

(MOMENTOUS MUSIC BUILDS)

I'm gonna do all the rooms
within the house,

and Sarah's working on the tree,
Technic framing that up,

which is a big new challenge for us.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC BUILDS)

Today, it's an elimination.

We still have the Platinum Brick,

and we want to keep holding on
to that little baby.

It gives us this amazing power.

At the end, we can look
at everyone else's builds,

and if we want to,
we can play the immunity brick.

But we don't want to use it.

So, this week, we need
to put a lot of technical into it.

We need to use a Technic frame.

We need to make this look
as schmick as possible.

So, are you happy with that?
Good with that?

So, I'm trying to work out,

not being, like, an expert
with Technic frames,

how I'm actually going to get that
so it goes out and up,

rather than flat.

And that's a massive challenge.

So, I just want to make sure
that everything's right,

because I'd hate it to stand here

and then all of a sudden, it went...

So, we've drawn inspiration

from kind of the wealth socialite
in pop culture.

She's a woman
who's grotesquely wealthy,

flashing her cash around,
bursting out of this cash register.

She's gonna be reasonably big.

We've got quite a large head.

She's gonna be up to about here,
arms up in the air, hopefully,

and then sort of cash
spurting around her.

She's an absolutely decadent,
over-the-top kind of character

that represents money.

There's a lot of opportunity
for fun here.

There's bright colours, excitement.

Today we want to come in,
we want to pack a punch.

Who's on the $50 note.

We definitely did not come to LEGO
Masters to coast through the middle.

It's been so long since I had cash.

(LAUGHS) Had one?
Yeah, I know.

But we also want to win a challenge

so we can actually get rid
of the Brick of Doom.

And we're gonna go hard
from the start.

Just trying to get
this mouth working.

That's more of a shocked look.

It needs sort of a bit more curve.

Yeah, smiling.
Lips.

(MUSIC FADES)

What do you reckon?

So, we've got the boom box,

and we're really struggling
to come up with an idea.

What else can we have?

Just now, we're realising that

our boom box is the only object
that is cut 45 degrees.

It would be easiest to have
those studs facing directly up.

What if we do it
the other way around?

Like that?

We just have it crashing, melting.
Mmm?

And we replicate, like,
the explosion of the moment

the boom box is falling
to the ground.

That's good. Yeah, it is good.

Once we tilted it upside down,
it all made sense.

We want to capture the moment
when the boom box is dropping,

and all of the instruments and music

is gonna be just coming out
of the boom box as it explodes.

The hardest part, really, is gonna
be getting the colours right.

We're gonna have
a lot of colour in this,

because we want it
to really pop out.

So, we've gone for
some paler pastelly colours

so we can have big, bright colours
for our instruments

so that they stand out.

It's ridiculous, the things
that people are coming up with.

We gotta make sure
that this looks epic.

it's our Cut In Half build.

It's fascinating to see
where people's brains go

when we give them something
that is half a well-known object

and the other half
can then be made out of LEGO.

We're doing a fabulous woman
made from money.

Amazing!

It's a super creative challenge,

but it also presents
a lot of difficulties,

because it's all about what you think
about when you see the object, right?

Definitely.

Just keep bricking,
bricking, bricking.

That's because of the relatability
of those objects

and what the stereotype is
that you come out of that.

For example, like,
if you had a trumpet,

you would immediately think
musical notes.

For you, will the winning team today

be the team that ties together the
real object and the LEGO perfectly.

Absolutely.

That is the heart, soul,
and essence of this challenge.

As long as there's a great creative
reason why they're together,

then they're home.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC BUILDS)

OWEN: That's wicked.

This is, by far,
my favourite build already.

Whoa!
That's heavy.

I think this is the biggest build
we have attempted

in the shortest amount of time.

Yeah.

Like, this is... yeah, we've kind of
gone big for this one.

Alright, three hours down. I feel
like we've got lots of bricks down.

We really gotta keep
the time pressure up,

and keep building at it to make sure
we don't end up cut short.

The vibe that I'm feeling
from the gramophone

is that vintage
kind of life is simpler.

It's that romantic
sort of music as well

that you associate
with that sort of thing.

So, I'm thinking love story
as told through the tree of life,

and we want to use the four seasons,

and it is the love story
of this couple

that meet in the spring,
they get married in the summer,

kids in the house in the autumn,

they're old and rekindle their love
in the winter.

(UPLIFTING ELECTRONIC MUSIC)

this is the challenge.

and the build, essentially.

We just need a tree arm.

So, our love story hasn't changed.
Our love story is still there.

We're just gonna try and encompass
more of this build

with the love story.

The tree grows
with the love of the music,

and the music grows with the love
of the tree, if that makes sense.

Because the more the tree grows,
the more it turns the handle,

the more love comes out.

In today's build,

Brickman's looking for us
to challenge ourselves

with the bricks and the object
we have been given.

Oooh! We have a rocket.

We see the telescope and the first
thing we think of is space.

We're gonna have an astronaut
kind of strapped to a rocket.

And he's gonna be freaking out,
going, "Arggh!"

Like, 'cause he's been strapped
to this rocket against his will

and he's flying off to space.

Anthony. Jessica.
Hamish, how you going?

How are you feeling,
as master of the astronaut here?

Uh, pretty good.

So, I've just finished the face.
So, pretty happy with that.

He's going for this,
like, "Arggh," look, you know?

Because he's freaking out.

So, now I'm just building the helmet
which is gonna go around him...

Gotcha!

..because an astronaut without
a helmet, it's, like...

It's unsafe.
Yeah, it's unsafe. That, definitely.

Alright, you know,
now that it's taking shape,

is it gonna have, like,
a nose cone and a...

Yeah, he's going upwards,

but I just moved it
because I can build on it.

Yeah, totally.

So, it's gonna go like this.

So, we're gonna use the angle
to our advantage.

And he's gonna be there.

So, he's gonna be in the middle here
and the nose will be up this way,

and then the thrusters at the bottom
with fire explosion.

Because we're not working
with an angle that's flat.

We're working on an angle like this.

That instantly does something with
LEGO which is very hard to do -

it gives it movement,
it gives it, you know, presence.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC SWELLS)

But this is actually
a very risky idea.

The thing is, I need to make
a support so that he can sit.

I need to put support behind him,

because he's a heavy figure -
he was meant to be.

If he just had to sit on the rocket,
it'd be fine,

but him sitting on a rocket
at this angle,

we need to make sure that he doesn't
just fall back and explode.

The problem is I made his legs
a certain way, so I'm...

That's OK. Can we undo them and...?

I don't mean to cast a shadow

over the world's most dangerous
profession, astronaut,

however, there's some
real challenges

around posing that astronaut.

It's only got the tiniest connection
point, that's why.

If you strengthen up those,
it'll be better.

Something to do with a tree
and a gramophone,

but what that something is
is not clear yet.

That's the problem.

At the minute, there's
no relationship whatsoever

between the gramophone and the tree.

Sarah and Fleur,
they've got the chainsaw.

They're struggling
with that engineering challenge

of turning it into a tree
and a treehouse.

When I am pushing on this,
it's... it's moving a bit.

I love the concept that it's the
opposite of what a chainsaw does.

The reason the girls are struggling

is because they've never
really played around

in that world of Technic before.

We're doing really well.

The vision we're going for is that
everything is really interconnected,

that the chainsaw and the tree
sort of become one.

We just want to work out
where that's gonna go.

SARAH: Fleur's doing the treehouse.

I can put a roof on it too,

And I'm working
on the Technic frame.

Just need to put it in place

and then you can play
with building around it, yeah?

from a scale perspective,

This might be the day when
we get rid of the Brick of Doom.

Oh, gosh, it'd be so good!

And a build that
we're truly proud of as well.

So nice to hear
that kind of feedback.

JESS: Our build is kind of finished,

but it's not polished,
it's not neat.

I feel like we've done
the best we can.

Like, we pushed hard. We had extra
challenges we didn't account for.

We just have to wait now
and see if Brickman likes it

and if it's enough
to get us over the line.

Guys, you've got half a telescope,

which has now become, easily, the
most irresponsible and unsafe use

of government money for
the space program of all time,

as old mate here gets knackered
on his way to,

well, not even the moon -
the end of the test range.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC BUILDS)

ANTHONY: So, we made a rocket ship
out of the telescope.

And it's got a giant astronaut,
you know, riding this rocket.

Kind of freaking out

because the rocket's taking off
into outer space.

(MAN SCREAMS)

So, first off,
let's talk about the idea -

the storytelling component.

I think there's a definite synergy
between the two, for sure.

Space is definitely one
that you wanted to go to.

So, that's a big tick from me.
Totally.

First character build, Anthony?
Yeah, my first character build.

How do you feel?

I was like, "What is one thing
that needs to be right?"

And you think an astronaut,
you think a helmet.

So, I'm really happy with how it's
got a very spherical shape to it.

I think the cylindrical shape
was quite difficult.

So, definitely a big technical
challenge for me.

You know what, this build,

it's very contradictory
from a technical perspective.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC BUILDS)

There are elements, like the helmet,
which are beautifully done,

yet there are other parts to the
technical build which aren't right.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC CONTINUES)

Our pointed rocket looks great -
becomes nice and pointy.

It's missing the whole bottom part.

Likewise,
there's bits missing off the tail.

That lettering, for example,
is very plain and simple.

You really could have shown off
your technical abilities

and done it in a different way.

Even the hip joints -

having these exposed ball and socket
joints and things like that.

There's parts which are brilliant,

and there are parts
which probably fail.

It doesn't have that polish,

which has probably put you
in a bit of trouble today.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC CONTINUES)

At the end of the day, what I look
at is four finished builds,

and uncomplete build,

and I just think... my heart sinks,

and I'm like,
"I think this could be it."

Everyone built hard and fast today.

Harrison and Michael, you are
vaccinated against elimination,

you are immune,

but unfortunately,
we are about to lose one more team

from LEGO Masters for this season.

a very, very powerful little brick,
the Platinum Brick.

I've totally lost my confidence.

But we're gonna need that brick
to get further.
