and essentially all it is,

is we get to build a massive big
great structure,

and then yeet a bowling ball
straight through it.

We got given the Spartan.

The Spartan, which you know what,

was one of the two I was hoping for,
was either Spartan or knight.

So, I'm happy we got it.
I'm happy Harry got it.

Bit of an ancient history buff,
so... it's gonna be fun.

Yep. Back to Year 12. Here we go.

So, after Mike and I left school,

we reconnected
through touch footy together.

That's how we found out
about our mutual love for LEGO.

We watched the show and we thought,

"You know what, let's do it -
let's go for it."

It combines two of our great loves -
competition and LEGO.

As a kid growing up,

my favourite Disney movie
of all time was 'Hercules'.

Today we're gonna
be building a Greek temple.

And we're gonna have a massive
Hydra busting out of the roof,

and with Zeus
hanging out of his mouth.

Yeah.

We're gonna come out all guns
blazing from the word 'go'.

And it's not gonna be easy,

because we're up against
the reigning champions.

We are up against the reigning
champions with the Platinum Brick,

who have the same theme as us,

and of course, they're just next
to us - that makes it even better.

have returned victorious

from a very successful raid.

They're feasting,
they're celebrating.

And a bowling ball is gonna make it
explode into a million pieces.

to ascend to Valhalla inside.

We're gonna build
a Viking castle fortress

using a brick-bent hexagon.

This is brick bending.

So, using layers
of one-by-two bricks,

there's that little bit
of flexibility.

With the one-by-twos, once
you've put them all side by side,

there's actually a remarkable amount
of flex in them.

I can put this under a fairly
significant amount of tension...

Keep building it
while you're telling them.

Sorry, but I'm really hoping that

the pressure of the ball
releasing it on one side...

Yep, best way to demonstrate is to
build it and then we can show...

We have this all-powerful wizard

that has figured out that there is
a giant meteor-shaped bowling ball

charging towards the castle,

and it is now his job
to protect the village.

(MOMENTOUS MUSIC CONTINUES)

We gotta ramp this, hey?

I'm gonna make that ramp bit solid
to get it into the tower.

I think the trajectory will
determine how the explosion looks.

Yeah.

So, if the ball is travelling flat
and it hits the castle,

everything that it hits
is gonna travel flat.

So, we've built the terrain
up a bit higher

to kind of launch this bowling ball.

This has gotta be rock solid, 'cause
it's gonna try and ramp the ball.

If we can get that ball
to nail that ramp,

we'll get not only an explosion out,

but we'll get an explosion up,
I think, is what we're chasing.

Oh, please!
Immunity would be beautiful.

Alright, guys, I have deduced
the code from the back wall,

and I have figured out that

Our story is that we have
a quiet little Viking village.

Our bellringer is asleep

She hasn't noticed that
there's a giant cannonball.

The rest of the village
just goes about their Viking ways,

oblivious to the imminent
destruction of their town.

Remember, it's not about
making the structure really sound.

of that dragon.

and exactly how that reaction

will cause energy to travel
in a certain direction.

With the cannonball,
it comes down to the aim.

If the cannonball's a little bit
off, you don't know.

we're gonna have a lot of colours,

and some turkeys,
and some other surprises inside.

that's clipped off minifigure heads.

When the tower gets hit, hopefully
you'll see that giant explosion

One thing that I really do like
is it's like a normal castle

that you see somewhere
on the side of a hill.

It's built because of the terrain,

and you can clearly see that here.

It's sort of curving.

You've got the keep area,
it's sort of off to the side.

Things like that
that really helps make it beautiful.

The tricky is here, though,

the key part of the story
is the wizard

and his ray of blueness

that he's hoping to stop
the cannonball.

That does put some pressure

on one of Australia's
greatest tenpin bowlers.

That wizard collected a lot of heads.

Look at it! It's like popcorn.

It literally just took out
the wizard and his tower

and it left everything else.

I mean, it was, like,
a custom-ordered cannonball

from the rest of the town.

And even that terrain
that you were working so hard on,

that was the ramp that
gave the ball the elevation,

and it was such a contrast,

the fact that it was the black
with all the yellow around it.

Gabby and Ryan, let's have a look.

(HAUNTING INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC)

RYAN: So, yeah, we've made
a brick-bent hexagon, or flexagon.

It also uses a very, very cool
cylinder in the middle

that is just using macaroni bricks.

GABBY: We've gone
for quite a simple story.

The feast gets interrupted
by Ragnarok, the end of the world.

What we're hoping is, after the
bowling ball destroys their world,

we'll see a few little Vikings
going flying to Valhalla

with all their treasure.

Is that a guy on a toilet
out the back?

Is there a tiny little Viking toilet?

It's a little Viking latrine.

I mean, if the whole thing goes,

and it's, like,
the guy in the outback toilet,

reading the newspaper,
and the whole thing blows away,

if we get that, that could spell
the end of the Brick of Doom.

(THUNDER CLAPS, SCREAMING)

to go directly through
the middle of our build.

I can see the toilet

I basically hit nothing
but toilet guy.

MAN: The circle unwraps.

WOMAN: Yeah, reveals everything.

That's cool.

BRICKMAN: The crazy shapes that you
built - that circular pattern shape,

it actually did the opposite,
really,

of what you wanted it to do.

It really flexed and absorbed
the weight of the cannonball

that came crashing through it,

but it was a beautiful castle.

RYAN: We wanted to get rid

We decided to do something that was
a little bit left of centre.

Thought too hard.

was what cost us.
