(male narrator) Far beyond the boundaries of the Milky Way

in the uncharted void of deep space

an incredible fifth dimension of space and time

lies parallel to the universe that we know.

This interesting interstellar warp

which holds the most sinister and ruthless criminals

in the galaxy is the infamous Phantom Zone.

It's been 15 long years

since Superman put us in this cursed Phantom Zone.

Right, Logar, we would have been better off

if we never escaped from the prison of Krypton

and were blown up with the rest of the planet.

No, Rom-Lok, after all these years in this cosmic wasteland

I think we may finally have a chance at freedom.

That's impossible, Hul.

There's no way out of the Phantom Zone

No way until now.

But if my recollection of astronomy is correct

the Comet Boraka should be

passing right through this area in a few moments.

What good will that do?

The Comet Boraka is in the physical universe.

'It has no connection to the Phantom Zone.'

I know, but its molecular frequency

is similar to the ray device Superman used to put us here.

'It should produce a split-second warp'

'between the Phantom Zone and the real universe.'

If our timing is perfect, we will be free!

(male narrator) Meanwhile, in the universe we know as ours

the Comet Boraka speeds through space

on a direct course with the Phantom Zone.

It worked! We are free of the Phantom Zone at last!

Yes, and now it is time to seek revenge

on the one who put us there.

(male narrator) Later, in Naples, Italy..

Vesuvius is erupting.

Holy Pompeii, if we don't act fast, it could destroy the city.

And unless Superman comes alone

they escaped from the prison of Krypton.

It was years later when I captured them

and banished them into the Phantom Zone.

But no one has ever escaped from the Phantom Zone.

I have to face them alone.

[dramatic music]

(male narrator) The deadly Vesuvius continues to erupt over Naples.

These lead suits will protect us

from the deadly radiations within this box.

Being from Krypton, we are just as strong as Superman.

But, unfortunately, we have the same weaknesses.

Yes, but this is one weakness

that will be the end of Superman.

I've got to act fast.

'The Lava is flowing'

straight to the heart of Naples.

A trench to flow the lava away should do the trick.

[instrumental music]

I don't understand it.

How could I have dug the trench

in the wrong place?

[intense music]

The lava's entered the city. There's only seconds.

With my superbreath, I can blow the lava into the sea.

Great Scott! I blew the lava right into the city.

It doesn't make sense.

(Logar) 'Perhaps, we can explain, Superman.'

Those villains from the Phantom Zone

exposed me to red kryptonite.

Something's coming over the Trouble Alert.

(Superman) 'It's Logar and the others.'

Jupiters! They're pulling up one of the lock gates!

(male narrator) Thousands of miles away at the Panama Canal

flooding ocean waters threaten the safety

We've got to stop the flooding

before those ships are washed away.

I can do more good in the water than up there.

I should be able to save the canal with my aquatic telepathy.

(male narrator) Following Aquaman's mental commands dozens of porpoises

speed into the canal's entrance, forming a dam.

My Magic Lasso will help me save that sinking ship.

I think that should hold the canal

until the repair crew has come.

[rumbling]

(Logar) Wrong, Aquaman.

We've been transported out of the universe

and there's no way back.

Aquaman and Wonder Woman are gone for good!

They are in terrible danger now

because I couldn't stop those villains.

- I have got to help them. - 'Wait, Superman.'

There's no way to tell if your reaction

to the red kryptonite will get any worse.

Robin and I will handle them.

Another emergency is coming in from Switzerland.

Jupiters, Logar and others

are knocking the Matterhorn to pieces.

(Batman) 'They're causing an avalanche'

'and is headed toward that small village.'

Come on, Robin. We've got to hurry.

(male narrator) Meanwhile, in Switzerland, the unsuspecting village

lies helplessly in the path of a ferocious avalanche.

Matterhorn dead ahead, Batman.

We've only got seconds before the avalanche

destroys the village.

The Bat-Rocket net is our only chance.

So Batman thinks he can stop our fun, does he?

[laughs]

They've caught us in our own Bat-Net.

(Logar) And worse than that, Superman we'll show the world

what a feeble, old superhero you really are.

[laughing evilly]

'without any superheroes to take care of it.'

[dramatic music]

(male narrator) Moments later, in Honk Kong, China.

(Hul) 'Relax, Superman'

and watch us we destroy

another of your world's city.

Now, to shake the city up a bit.

[rumbling]

[crashing]

The city is breaking apart! Run!

Rom-Lok started an earthquake with his foot.

Let's see how they like a super tornado.

[whooshing]

Great Scott! They've sucked the water out of Hong Kong harbor.

I've got to try to help them.

[tornado whooshing]

So, old Superman thinks he can help, does he?

when I release the water from that tornado.

Look, Zan, they are right below us. What'll we do?

Watch, Superman, as we push

the entire continent of Australia beneath the sea.

[water gushing]

(male #1) 'The continent is sinking!'

(male #2) 'Hurry! To the mountains!'

I've got to stop them before they destroy Australia.

I'm too weak to fight them.

My only chance is to escape them.

Hope they follow me.

Superman! He's escaped!

As long as they don't scan the clouds

with their x-ray vision, I should make it to safety.

(male narrator) Later that night, at the Hall of Justice..

There must be some antidote to the effects

of the red kryptonite.

Unless I can stop this rapid aging

I won't be able to survive much longer.

According to the data in the Justice League

standard memory banks

the only possible antidote is blue kryptonite.

But blue kryptonite only affects Bizarro.

Correct, Superman.

And because Bizarro reacts

the opposite to you in many ways

it is possible that blue kryptonite

which is harmful to Bizarro

may actually be beneficial to you.

It's my only hope.

But where will I find blue kryptonite?

The exact location has been pinpointed

by the Justice League satellite.

'A small deposit of blue Kryptonite'

'will be found in the asteroid belt'

'formed by the explosion of planet Krypton.'

Great Scott, I'd have to travel through

a ton of deadly green kryptonite.

If I don't get to the blue kryptonite in time

I haven't a chance to come out alive.

I'm too weak to fly at light speed.

I'll have to take the Supermobile.

(male narrator) Using the incredible Supermobile

which Superman built to possess all his natural superpowers

the Man of Steel speeds off

for his dangerous life-or-death rendezvous.

(male narrator) Meanwhile, somewhere over the earth..

Superman's got to be around here somewhere!

We've checked everywhere but the Hall of Justice.

Come on!

[dramatic music]

He's not here. He's probably hiding somewhere in fear.

Wait a minute! What's this?

'According to this computer flight plan'

'it looks like Superman took off for the site'

'where Krypton blew up.'

Why would Superman want to go back there?

I don't know. But we'll soon find out.

(male narrator) As Logar, Hul, and Rom-Lok

take off in search of Superman..

Light years away, in a distant solar system

the Supermobile arrives at the asteroids of Krypton.

Even the lead shielding in my Supermobile

isn't enough to protect me against this much kryptonite.

In my weakened state

I've got only seconds before I black out.

[beeping]

The blue kryptonite.

I've got to...stay conscious..

...long enough to get it.

I've got it!

Now, to get out

of this kryptonite deathtrap.

[Supermobile whirring]

I made it out of that kryptonite asteroid belt..

...just in time.

Now, now to see how the blue kryptonite affects me.

[whirring]

I-I think it's working.

My, my strength is coming back.

That did it! The process has been reversed.

I've got to get back to when the others

where put into the Phantom Zone.

(male narrator) Later, above the surface of the earth..

I should be able to see into the Phantom Zone

with my x-ray vision.

'Great Suns, I've got to figure a way

'to get them out before that strange creature devours them.'

(male narrator) Meanwhile, as Logar, Hul and Rom-Lok

arrive at the asteroids of Krypton..

We can't get any closer.

The kryptonite is already weakening us.

Superman must've figured a way to reverse the effects

of the red kryptonite.

He's probably headed back to earth

to save the others.

In that case, we'll head him off

and seal him in the Phantom Zone forever.

(Wonder Woman) There's nowhere we could go to escape this creature.

And none of my Bat devices

have any effect in this Phantom Zone.

Maybe, we could slow him down with our Exxor powers.

(Wonder Twins) Wonder Twin powers activate!

Activate!

It's no use. We're finished.

[gibbers]

[monster growling]

There's just seconds to save them.

My only hope is to alter

the Supermobile's nuclear power source

and try to change its frequency

to that of the Phantom Zone's.

Hurry! We've got to keep moving.

I've almost got it.

[grinding]

That did it. Now, to direct it toward the Phantom Zone.

[buzzing]

We're safe. Superman must've figured a way to get us out.

Batman! Wonder Woman!

I've got a plan to stop Logar and the others.

Meet me in space quadrant seven.

This is where the Super Friends are trapped in the Phantom Zone.

Oh, no! It can't be! They're gone!

(Batman) 'Wrong, Logar, we're right here'

behind this invisible field

and we've brought you something you left back on earth.

- No! - It's the red kryptonite!

That's right. And now, we'll see how it affects you.

I'm shrinking.

You won't cause any big trouble now.

The red kryptonite, it's changing my molecules..

...to metal.

[laughs]

You won't stop Rom-Lok!

'The red kryptonite is having no effect on me.'

That's what you think.

Oh, no! My hair!

And now that I've got back the Phantom Ray you took from me

you're all going back where you came from.

(male narrator) Later, at the Hall of Justice.

(Wonder Woman) 'Thanks to Superman'

'those devastated cities are back to normal.'

(Aquaman) And it looks like we won't be having any more trouble

from those escapees from the Phantom Zone.

But, what if they get out again, like they did before?

They won't, Zan.

The comet that helped them escape

won't return for another 7000 years.

Oh, no! Look!

[gibbers]

Gleek must have been infected by the red kryptonite.

Take another look, Wonder Brother.

'Ha ha, Gleeks's been infected by a banana cream pie.'

[gibbers]
