there are assembled the world's four greatest heroes

created from the cosmic legends of the universe

And those three junior Superfriends.

Wendy, Marvin and Wonder Dog.

Their mission, to fight injustice

to right that which is wrong

and to serve all mankind.

At the United States Space Center

the final countdown nears on a most-important launch

a first mission to the planet Mars.

As the two astronauts climb aboard

hundreds of thousands of spectators

gather to observe the blastoff.

Final countdown has begun.

Ignition is expected in less than two minutes.

(male #1) 'Uh, Mission Control to Mars 1.'

'Uh, all systems are go.'

'We continue the countdown at, uh, minus 90 seconds'

'uh, 89, 88, 87, 86.'

(Wendy) Isn't this exciting?

Imagine, the first Earth men

to walk on the planet Mars.

It certainly is, Wendy, and soon..

(Marvin) 'Hey, Wendy, look at this.'

Marvin, what're you doing?

Well, we're always losing games

because we don't have anyone tall enough

on our school basketball team.

Oh, Marvin, you can't play basketball on those.

Oh, no? Heh, heh. Watch.

[thuds]

(narrator) But, not too many miles from the space center

someone else watches the Mars rocket countdown

with a different thought in mind.

This is it, Igor. I'm going to put my theories to the test.

[meows]

That crowd gathered at the launching site

is a perfect trial run for my machine.

'Is everything ready?'

[meows]

They laughed at my ideas

on how to solve the world's problems.

We'll see who laughs now.

(male #1) 'Six, five, four--'

'Wait a minute, something's wrong. What is that?'

'That balloon, where did it come from?'

'It's not supposed to be..'

- The screen's gone blank. - Something's wrong.

[whimpers]

I thought the area above the pad had been completely cleared.

with the space center.

'As unbelievable as it sounds'

'everyone there seems to have disappeared.'

You and the other Justice Leaguers

had better get there immediately.

Colonel Wilcox, we're on our way.

I don't know, but the place has gone haywire.

There are no people at the controls.

We'd better go into action, fast.

The tower, it's falling.

(narrator) The Amazon princess pulls on her golden lasso

to keep the launch tower from falling.

Knowing that the rocket fuel

can be dangerously explosive when it heats up.

Batman and Robin rush to shut off the fuel lines.

Superman hurries to save the astronauts.

Breaking the latches that secure the capsule

to the rocket, he carries the astronauts to safety.

Batman and Robin now struggle to disconnect

a fuel line at the side of the rocket.

The fuel, Batman. It's surrounding us.

Batman, Robin, run.

The whole thing's going to blow.

(narrator) Realizing only one course of action is now possible

the Man of Steel uses all his super-strength

to lift the gigantic rocket

and hurl it safely away from the Earth.

Just in time.

We'd better release the astronauts.

It can't be.

Fantastic.

Batman, Aquaman, you're not going to believe this

but Womder Woman and I just discovered

thousands of tiny people.

They're only two inches high.

We believe you, Robin.

(narrator) Two astronauts, the entire space-center crew

and thousands of spectators

all reduced to a height of two inches.

The strange phenomenon boggles the imagination.

At one of the most advanced facilities in the country

a research team headed by Colonel Wilcox

looks into the problem.

- Absolutely amazing. - What is it, Dr. Curum?

'Somehow, the atoms and molecules'

in astronaut Ellis's body have been rearranged

and condensed causing him to shrink.

How is that possible, Dr. Curum?

I don't yet know.

It's utterly fantastic.

Astronaut Ellis, is there anything more you can tell us?

Not really, everything was green light and go

and we were just about to blast off when, zap

suddenly, we were shrunk.

Unbelievable.

(narrator) Meanwhile, not too many miles from Gotham City.

[chuckles] Igor, my machine is a fantastic success.

I knew we could do it.

[meows]

But we're not through yet.

We've got a long way to go before our mission is finished.

[meows]

'Next stop, Igor, Harbor City.'

'When we turn on the sonic microwave reducer this time'

every adult human being within five miles

of the balloon will be shrunk.

It is the beginning of my master plan

to shrink every grown-up in the world

down to an economical, convenient size.

[purrs]

Except me, of course, and you.

Animals aren't affected by my miniaturizing ray

due to the difference in metabolic rate.

When I'm through, those people who laughed at my ideas

will be forced to look up to me.

[chuckles] Get it, Igor? "Look up to me?"

[laughing]

(narrator) While Dr. Gulliver and Igor laugh

the people of Harbor City go about their daily business

unaware of the strange little turn

their lives are about to take.

Pilot to tower, pilot to tower.

Jet Cargo 847.

I'm approaching Harbor City airport.

Roger, 847. This is Harbor City Tower, go ahead.

(male #2) I should be arriving at.. Hey, what's that?

You're not going to believe this

but there's this crazy balloon..

(narrator) And, at the Justice League headquarters.

[alarm wailing]

It's the TroubAlert. Quick, Marvin!

Call Superman and the others.

What is it, Wendy?

Something dreadful

has happened to Harbor City.

Great Athena. Harbor City seems to have gone berserk.

'That airplane, it was supposed to land at the airport'

'but it's heading out to sea.'

And two subway trains racing out of control under the city.

(Superman) 'Great Scott, they're going to collide.'

That submarine is going too deep.

The pressure will destroy it.

(Superman) Let's go, Justice Leaguers.

(narrator) The Man of Steel flies at supersonic speed

to intercept the runaway jet plane.

Using every ounce of her Olympian strength..

...the Amazon princess races the speeding subway train

to avert a collision.

- She made it. Yay! - Yay, Wonder Woman! Yay!

(narrator) Aware the submarine is sinking out of control

into an ocean canyon off Harbor City

the king of the sea uses telepathy

to contact some of the stranger creatures of the deep

creatures that can provide their own light

in this watery world far removed from the sun's rays.

They locate the sub

where it rests precariously on a rocky ledge.

There is no time to waste.

Should it slip from the ledge, it may be lost forever.

Now a second telepathic call goes out

and time runs short.

Responding to Aquaman's call, huge blowfish go into action.

Thank you, my friends. We made it.

(narrator) And, at the research center..

I've flown over the entire area.

Every man and woman in Harbor City has been shrunk down

'until they're two inches tall.'

Leaping leprechauns.

Have you found out anything, Dr. Curum?

Very little, Superman.

We've analyzed everything at the launch site

the food, the water, even the air.

The only thing we know for sure

is that it does not affect animals or children.

- Colonel Wilcox, sir. - 'Yes, Smith?'

You wanted me to report any unusual objects

Well, sir, there's a large

circus-type balloon heading our way.

Colonel Wilcox, the crew of the plane I rescued

spotted a balloon passing by them

just before they were miniaturized.

(narrator) Once airborne,

the great archer's

hover arrow unfolds.

And soon, high over the jungles of Bornego

Green Arrow is transporting his passengers to safety.

Meanwhile, at Dr. Gulliver's laboratory.

Igor, we've done it.

Now everybody on Earth is shrinking.

I think it's time to go write the speech

I will deliver to United Nations.

Just a few thoughts I have on how the world should be run.

The shrinking process has weakened our super-powers

so we can't even break out of these bottles.

I may not be able to break out of this bottle, Aquaman

but I still have a trick up my sleeve.

(narrator) Summoning all his remaining strength

the Man of Steel focuses his x-ray vision

In a very special way

he causes the electronic transmitter

to be intermittently shorted out.

Meanwhile, Green Arrow having deposited

two animal photographers at their home base

arrives at Justice League headquarters.

Now even Green Arrow is missing.

Who in the world can we call on for help?

[knocking on door]

we'll find this mysterious Dr. Gulliver.

And that's where we'll find the Superfriends too.

If shrinking everyone down to two inches is a good idea

then shrinking them to half that size

or even smaller, must be a better idea.

But people don't wanna be two inches tall or one inch

or whatever you've decided to make them.

Well, there's nothing they can do about it.

(narrator) But there's one person

who might disagree with Dr. Gulliver

Green Arrow, the great archer

after quickly fashioning a miniature bow

and a set of arrows has arrived at the moat

surrounding Dr. Gulliver's castle .

But he finds that the moat, as compared to his size now

has assumed the dimensions of a small ocean.

Looks like this is going to take a little brain power.

(narrator) Folding the discarded newspaper into a paper boat

Green Arrow makes his way across the water

to Dr. Gulliver's castle.

With a special grapple arrow from his miniature quiver

he takes careful aim..

And during this time we find Wonder Woman's

invisible plane poised on the ramp.

(Marvin) But how do we get it to fly?

Wonder Woman does it with mental telepathy.

- So? - Use your head.

I had enough trouble adjusting to two inches.

I don't want to be oen inch tall or less.
