men love in haste,

I wrote two sermons
about the African catfish.

The main feature
of the African catfish

is that they grow very fast.

They also reproduce very fast.

And they are violent.

They eat their own kind

and destroy their natural resources.

The Muslims
are just like those fish.

The Venerable W

In our religion,

Buddha is not a god.

He's a human.

We believe in karma
and in reincarnation.

Through this and the past lives,

and by the accumulation of karma

Buddhists themselves can
become a Buddha

and achieve enlightenment.

For us, monks,

there are only four material things:

The texts,

the robe,

the monastery to where we belong

and the bowl in which we receive
food alms

and by this action our donors
can accummulate good karma.

Buddhist men

must become monks
at least once in their lives.

They can decide for how long.

When you're a monk, lay people
consider you a sacred being.

The Buddha is traditionally
above the concept of good and evil.

Watch your words well,
to stop you from the machinations of evil.

If children are taught the right ideas

about what Buddhism really is,

they will be able to practice it correctly
in the future as well.

But they should also know,

from the earliest childhood,

who is the enemy
and where does the danger lie.

That's why I especially teach children.

In the mornings, I lead the monk's
sutra recitations.

Then I write.

Then I give sermons.

Finally, I help people who have been
persecuted by Muslims.

Remember well
the title of my sermon:

'' Love and believe in 969 ''.

The 969 is an organization
that protects

race and religion,
without violence or aggression.

Do you agree?

Yes we do.

Let's pray.

For race and religion.

We must adopt the 969

so that peace prevails.

Some entrepreneurs

have very consolidated businesses.

One of them, a rich Muslim,
has the following slogan:

'' To destroy a race
you need to spend money. ''

What did he say?

'' To destroy a race

Muslims call it

He hires numerous young girls
to work for him.

we are impressed by the amount of money
and donations collected after the sermon.

We consider 969

as the cosmological opposite of 786,

which for Muslims represents

"in the name of Allah,
the compassionate and merciful."

The goal of 969

is to unite all Burmese Buddhists,

the founders of the Burmese nation.

The symbol of the 969 movement.

We, Buddhists

are more than 90%
of Burma's population,

Which is a country with 35 ethnic groups
and four official religions.

Did you know that Muslims are
only 4% of the population?

I was born in 1968

in Kyaukse, near Mandalay.

My father retired when I was
still in high school,

and because of this we went
through some financial difficulties.

We had to help him.
It was a difficult time for us.

My father was selling water in tanks,

from a cart pulled by oxen,

and I was following him.

At 17, I became a monk.

At first I thought it will only
be for a couple of months.

But when I learned about the Dhamma
and started to practice meditation,

I decided to continue.

My family was very upset when I decided
to be a monk for the rest of my life.

My father used to bank his head
against the wall in his anger.

Near Kyaukse there is
a Muslim village,

called Lapang.

In all the nearby villages

there were lots of troubles.

A 14 year old girl

was raped at night.

She was tied to a tree naked.

They didn't find her until the next
morning.

I was only 12 years old then.

When the authorities started
the investigation

all the Muslims in the village
shaved their heads

so that they wouldn't be recognized.

The day before Aid Festival

According to common wisdom

if someone is capable of
killing an animal,

he is also capable of killing a human.

We, Buddhists, are against
animal sacrifice.

My teacher doesn't live
in the monastery anymore where I used to study.

He retired to the countryside to
practice meditation.

I was 45 years old
when I met Wirathu.

He was about 4 years old.

This is how his mentality was shaped.

He received the very same education

like all the other students.

His mind is very bright,

and he shows great interest
in the study of Buddhism.

I never had to train him.

He just does it naturally.

In 1991, at the age of 23

Wirathu went to Mandalay and
settled in the Masoeyein monastery.

But he always kept in touch with his
old monastery in Kyaukse.

Ma Soe Yein Monastery

In Kyaukse I didn't have to leave
to collect food offerings,

so I had a lot of time
to study.

But in Mandalay,

I had to leave every morning
to receive alms as well.

It was difficult to get
decent food.

In Kyaukse, we used to help each other out

when somebody had some difficulties
or if somebody got sick.

But in Mandalay,
when I got sick

I was totally alone and I had
to take are of myself.

Eight years later

I became a member of the
monastic council.

The same year I also wrote a book
about meditation

which was banned by censorship.

In fact, the monk in the censorship office

had close connections to the military.

Those days almost all the Masters

were revered by the military
who were in power.

The censor monk didn't like that
I criticized their Masters.

So, I had no other options but to
publish the book illegally.

I used the pseudonym
"Wirathu - Ma Soe Yein".

The book was a huge success,

and from then on, I was known as
"Wirathu - Ma Soe Yein".

The Battle of Theravada

Those who read it respect me even now.

The idea of the book
occurred to me in 1993.

I saw a video

about the meditation techniques of
the Tant Kyi Taung monastery.

So I studied the Buddhist cannon

just to see if the monk in the video
spoke according to the scriptures.

The teacher of the Tant Kyi Taung
Monastery said

that my respiration was inadequate
during meditation.

During inhalation you
feel the air touching your nasal cavity.

And when you exhale,

you feel the air touching
the tip of your upper lip.

So, during meditation

you focus on being
in constant contact with the air.

But according to the master from
Tant Kyi Taung

one must breathe intensely,

like a cow,
making a lot of noise.

Some people roar
as if they were tigers,

others shriek

as if they were monkeys,

and some hiss like snakes,

and others sound like chickens.

That monk went to the US,

to teach his method.

I don't like that.

It was not approved in our country.

Foreigners may believe that
this is Buddhism,

but it is not true.

His monastery has a delegation
in Los Angeles, called Azusa.

When the book was published,

the monk Tant Kyi Taung
denounced me,

but the rest of the monks
gave me their support.

Manifestation of Buddhist monks.

Burnt a mosque

A Buddhist girl raped

100 monks imprisoned

I realized

the intentions of the Muslims
in 1997.

Until then, my eyes were closed,

but in 1997 they were finally opened.

Wirathu discovers a book
that will prove to be very important to him:

The fear of our race's disappearance.

The pages were either typed
or photocopied,

so with time they costs
more to read.

I read it in 1997.

This book has always been
banned by the military.

Except when it was convenient
to their interests.

At that time, me and my fellow monks

from other monasteries in Mandalay

were still considered to be
very young teachers.

And we used to catch the bus Nr. 8
to go to the cemetery.

It was always at around 8 pm.

We took the sidewalks,

to make our speeches.

They had no microphones.

Without that they had no
other options but to scream.

A young girl and a kalar
fell in love with each other.

So the kalar was beaten up,
which made me happy.

Kalar = Muslim
Equivalent to 'nigger' in the US.

His code name was 'Myo Chit Thu',
the patriot.

To hide

they put the robe around
their heads,

and wore dark sunglasses.

They used code names
among themselves.

It was to protect our identities
from the secret service.

If they would have found out
who we were,

they would have informed the
Grand Masters of the monasteries,

and we would have been expelled.

Wirathu told them not to buy
anything in Muslim stores,

and not to sell properties to
Muslims,

not even if a good price
was offered.

His words could incite hatred.

Which is why the government
forbade him to give sermons.

The clamor of applause

could reach to the sky.

At that time people were still
afraid to applaud publicly.

But still, some monks had the
courage to do just that

and the entire country seemed
interested in what we said.

This is how we spread
nationalistic ideas.

Each summer I went to Kyangin
to teach.

After giving a couple of sermons,

he discovered that the authorities
were planning to stop him,

and what's more,

the secret service went
to interrogate him.

So, he stopped giving sermons
and returned to Mandalay.

Those two sermons had
actually been recorded.

The monks made several copies,

and distributed them everywhere.

By the time I arrived to Mandalay,

the tapes were already there.

This is how he became well-know
all around.

When he became one of the
leaders

of the Ma Soe Yein Monastery,

the Grand Masters

gave him permission to give
sermons again.

Someone told me that this book,

The fear of our race's disappearance

has inspired everyone,
the nationalist pamphlets,

just as the anti-Muslim movements
of our country.

In early 2003, despite being banned,

the copies were openly distributed
on the markets of Kyaukse.

Protecting race and religion
is not an easy task.

It breaks my heart.
Where are the Burmese heading?

The threat weighing on Buddhism
has reached an alarming level.

September 3rd, 2003.

One month before the riots
in Kyaukse.

At the end there are
less and less Buddhists,

and more and more 'kalars'.

And what does the government do?

Nothing!

Plus, the Muslims live
in our country,

and for a long time,

they live in our land,

they use our resources,

and they have all the rights
they want.

Normally, you would think
they are happy, wouldn't you?

But nothing is enough for them.

They are committed to insult and
attack our religion.

I can not stand idle to see
what they do to us.

What about you, Venerable ones?

No, we can't either!

Then listen to me well!

Within a few days, I will
make a decision.

As soon as I give you the signal,

you must be ready to follow me.

In the meantime, I must plan
the operation well,

just as if we were the CIA or the Mosad,

for the sake of efficiency.

We will succeed with our action.

The riots of 1997 in Mandalay
had no leader.

That's why it failed.

This time I am the leader.

I'll make sure that the 'kalars'
have nothing to eat.

And I'll also make sure,

that they have no place to live.

One month later in Kyaukse

The military junta imposed a curfew
on the Kyaukse Buddhist monks.

11 people were killed, 32 warehouses
and 26 houses were burned down.

It all started on October 19, 2003
at 5:30 pm.

And by 11 pm it was all over.

The houses of musulmans
were put on fire.

Some Muslims died.

A monk riding a motorcycle
went to the village of Lapang,

to attend a religious festival.

The Muslims of Lapang attacked
and killed him.

If they hadn't murdered that monk,

they couldn't have stopped me.

Killing a monk, that's a big thing.

It was feared that it could cause
an uprising in the entire country.

They managed to stop us founding

a great national movement.

The international community,
the UN and the Muslim countries

placed an enormous pressure
on the government.

The military was scared,

and they started to arrest
people at random.

They arrested me, and then
accused me

of inciting and orchestrating
these events.

He went to prison

because of me.

At the same time as me.

While in prison, it was a Muslim

who cooked for Wirathu.

He asked him what he wanted,

then I asked the guards for the
ingredients, and they cooked them.

Being a Muslim,

he didn't know the ritual of
giving alms,

so others offered food to Wirathu.

This Muslim told me

that he was on very friendly
terms with Wirathu.

They had a good time
chatting,

talking about everything,

except about religion.

They often say about prisons
that it's 'the university of life'.

You can learn a lot of things
inside.

Lots of different things.

While in prison, I practiced
meditation for 99 months.

My serenity comes from the concentration
I acquired during my time there.

Another book I wrote was
translated to English.

It's entitled:
"The culprits of history."

I wrote it in prison.

I wrote about the behaviour
of the Monks' Council,

and about how corrupted they were.

Basically, I pointed out that this
Monks' Council

served as an armed force
of the military government.

The Military was exercising
absolute power since 1962.

I was one of those who started
the "Saffron Revolution" of 2007.

The revolution began

because of a report that
I wrote in jail.

It's not true!

The "Saffron Revolution" of 2007

didn't just start with a
single person.

And it wasn't carried out
by a single person either.

All religious bodies worked
together

for the liberation of the country.

There were five monks

among the leaders,

and I was one of them.

September 2007

The cause was the high
costs of living.

People just couldn't get ahead.

We, monks, knew it well that
it was the government's fault.

We decided to go outside
and chant the Metta Sutta.

All beings, omitting none,

whether weak or strong; small or great;

in high, middle or low realms of existence;
near or far away; visible or invisible; born or to-be born.

May all beings be happy and at their ease.
Let none deceive another,

or despise any being in any state.
Let none wish harm to another.

We went to the house of
Aung San Suu Kyi.

We caught the authorities
by surprise.

We could enter the area
very easily,

just before they blocked the road.

We were sad to see her
under house arrest,

but nevertheless we were
happy just to see her.

She also had the chance
to pay homage.

We managed to chant
the Metta Sutta together.

The NLD's flag,

Aung San Suu Kyi's party
which would come to power in 2016.

The government attacked
the monasteries.

It was the very first time
in history

that the government
directly attacked the monks,

even though our manifestation
was carried out peacefully.

We were certain that the
revolution had begun.

We heard about the news

from the visitors who came
to the prison.

We were very happy.

And people told me

that it was all due to the
report that I had written.

They had a lot of respect for me.

A man close to power
came to see me.

He asked me to write a letter
to the monks

asking them to stop the
manifestations.

Even if he had promised
to set me free,

I would have never written it,
I would have never accepted it.

Four years later,

on January 13, 2012,

W. was released due to
a general amnesty.

My dear fellow monks,

I'm glad that you have come
to welcome me,

I thank you for your
warm welcome.

So, what would you prefer?

A yellow speech, a discourse
of a monk,

or a courageous red speech,
burning with life?

A burning red one!

All right then.

For Theravada Buddhism,

the new Ma Soe Yein Monastery

must be like a wall.

It must be like an army
that spawns soldiers

to fight on the front line.

We, monks,

open people's eyes.

In Burmese politics

it was always us, monks,
who showed the way.

To showcase our greatness

we are going to write
a new chapter.

When they released me from prison,

the 969 movement
really took off.

It was me, who planned the
stickers project all alone,
while still in prison.

I spent 8 years on it.

When looking at those stickers,
people think about the Buddha.

speaks in French ???

To me, those stickers are basically
a boycott of Muslim businesses.

Muslims own many businesses.

Large companies, like the
Motherland,

Naing Group, Shine Group,

who control the enormous
markets of construction.

And all of them are Muslims,

which is why I gave the
instructions

not to buy from Muslims,

because with the money they make,

they can marry Burmese girls,

and consequently continue the
invasion of the whole country.

"Muslims multiply like rabbits."

In 2014: 88 % Buddhists,
4 % Muslims, 8 % other religions.

What about in Europe?

From the British colonization
till 2012,

the country has been governed
by evil people.

And they were not worried
about national security at all.

Which is why more than
a million Bengalis

have crossed our borders
illegally.

They want to stay in Rakain.

Everything broke loose on
June 8th, 2012.

the mosque.

When we arrived, there was
still a lot of smoke.

The Muslims burned down
eight villages that day.

I decided to pay a visit

to all those places they had burned.

And I realized that the situation
is a lot worse than I imagined.

It deeply affected me.

The riot started from the mosque
in Maungdaw,

but in Sittve, it was the buddhists
who started it.

Sittwe: 60 % Buddhists

These Rohingyas who left
their homes at that moment

were the first ones
in many regards

The majority are still displaced today.

Another 140,000
followed their steps.

In Maungdaw and Sittwe 31 Buddhists
and 46 Muslims were killed

4800 houses reduced to ashes

But even as a mother loves , watches over,
and protects her child, her only child;

so may all with a boundless mind
cherish all living beings,

radiating friendliness over
the entire world without limit.

May we cultivate a boundless goodwill,

free from ill-will or enmity.

The Muslims live in small
houses.

When their houses burn down

they can get much bigger houses.

They even burn down their houses

to get international financial
aid for the new one.

From a historical point of view,
there has never been an ethnic
group called: Rohingya.

The Rohingyas invented this
name

to hide their Bengali identity.

Rakain is falling apart.

Almost 200,000 Burmese refugees

have crossed the river
between the two cities.

They belong to the ethnic minority
of the Rohingya,

that adds up to almost
one and a half million people.

The situation started to deteriorate
last February,

when the Burmese threw
themselves on Rakain

under the pretext of
documentation control

called: Operation Dragon.

The Rohingyas quickly understood
that they were the objective of the operation.

Is Operation Dragon
an official operation?

Yes, it is.

It involved the Burmese police,
the army and the immigration service.

Sometimes they also receive some
help from 'mogs', the non-Muslims.

Have you ever witnessed any tortures
or similar things?

Yes, I've seen all sort of things.

First, they raped all women,
young and old,

our sisters and mothers.

My sister was raped by
Burmese soldiers.

Just on this field, a lot of
women were raped.

They're like Hitler and the Nazis.

Do you know about Hitler
and the Nazis in Germany?

They torture the Rohingyas
just like the Nazis did.

The refugees meet

five times a day for prayer
on the fields.

At least they can pray in peace,

because Bangladesh is the
most religions country in
the Muslim world.

How can one of the poorest
country in the world

receive thousands of hungry people?

Bangladesh demands

that they are repatriated
to Burma as soon as possible.

What will be Burma's response
to this?

It will be negative,

if the refugees that count
who have found oil in Rakain

they are right.

That would explain this genocide

which is so far beyond any sort of
religious rivalry between Buddhists
and Muslims.

If the oil reserves
from Kyauktaw

and Rathedaung

are really as important as they say,

the Burmans deport Muslims
the majority in Rakain,

only to ensure total control
of the region,

which has suddenly become
of strategic importance for
the country's economy.

The interesting thing
about the citizenship law,

is that it clearly states that the
government can decide

whether one is Burmese by origin
or not.

I remember a discussion

with an Arakanese nationalist
leader.

He told me: "We can't exterminate
the Bengalis."

He referred to the Rohingyas
like that.

Buddha Gautama,

Think not lightly of evil,
saying, "It will not come to me.

Drop by drop is the water pot filled.

Likewise, the fool, gathering it little by little,

fills himself with evil.

In fact,

their mosques are not
places for worship

like our monasteries.

Rather, they are military bases
designed to plan attacks

against non-Muslims.

I have seen the true purpose
of the Muslims,

which is to convert
the entire world to Islam.

In fact, everyone can see it
on YouTube

that when the members of ISIS
behead a Christian,

they put up a finger,

saying: there should be only
one God in the world.

In fact, the Muslims

keep migrating and settling
into European countries,

they are invading the world.

Merkel and other leaders like
her welcome them

without paying any attention
to the opinion of their people.

In the U.S,

if the people

want to maintain peace and security,

they should vote for Donald Trump.

As soon as they made people
believe

that the Rohingyas are the enemies
of the Burmese nation,

it was easy to extend this idea

to all Burmese Musulmans
as enemies.

The army quickly adopted
this idea of creating an enemy.

And surprise, surprise,

the ideas of the famous banned
book continued to spread.

Make it clear that nation and race
are linked to religion.

The causes of a race's disappearance:

A race is not swallowed by the earth
but by miscegenation.

The Muslim strategy:

favour miscegenation,
reproduce a lot.

The arrival of Islam
to Southeast Asia.

There is an Islamic terrorist
organisation in Myanmar,
called the RSO.

Did you know...?

In Burma, the word 'race'
comes from 'kula', a Pali word.

But 'kula' is usually associated

with another word: 'rakhita',
which means 'protection'.

'Kula rakhita' becomes
in 'myo chit' - 'patriotism'.

But the Buddha didn't say

that each one must protect
his race.

When the Buddha says

to protect the race,
he refers to the entire humanity.

Since the end of 2012, Wirathu
has been traveling all over the country,

giving at least 5 sermons a month.

If you have to choose between
two merchants,

which one will you buy from,
a Burmese or a 'kalar'?

The Burmese.

Who do you prefer between
a Buddhist and a Muslim?

The Buddhist.

When I won't be alive anymore,

at around 2100,

the white territory will turn
into a black one,

and our religion will be dominated

by the religion of the black flags.

When I arrived to Meiktila,
they told me this:

a Muslim, the owner of the LND
office

prohibits people from praying.

Suppose he becomes a
political leader one day,

a national leader,

or perhaps even a member of
the parliament.

Think about it.

It is a very serious issue.

The more you think about it,
the more worrisome it becomes.

Following the sermon in Meiktila,

a city with 30% Muslims,

pamphlets appeared in the markets.

are buying lands, farms and
houses

in and out of the city,

using Burmese names.

growing number of 'kalars'

going to the mosque every day.

We're asking for help from the monks
to stop corruption.

in a Muslim jewelry store

where a Buddhist came to sell
a golden bracelet.

They told me,

they were looting the jewelry.

So, I searched the crowd for
some familiar face.

I asked if there were any monks
there, and they said yes.

I spoke to a monk on the phone.

Those monks prevented people
from destroying everything.

But the crowd was so great

that in the end nobody listened to them.

Break it all!

Stop encouraging them!

and to protect the people

They are Buddhists.

in a ditch.

They were carrying batons and swords

and they attacked anyone
who crossed their paths.

So, no Muslims are left in
Meiktila anymore?

None.

the state of the Sangha,
a council formed by 52 monks,

voted in favour of banning
the 969 movement

and forbid them to use the
Buddhist flag as the background
of their emblem.

Wirathu immediately formed
a new organization:

"Ma Ba Tha, Association
for Race and Religion."

Without an organization,

a crowd with a heated spirit
could easily get out of control.

Things may explode.

Ma Ba Tha intervenes,

when the 'kalars' beset
the Buddhists.

Once the problem is solved
and the 'kalars' are punished,

the crowd calms down as well.

So, this is role of the Ma Ba Tha.

The 969 had no structure,
it was just a movement.

It had no designated leaders,
or rules,

while the Ma Ba Tha has a
structure and leaders,

central committees,

and regional committees.

Ten monks,

some of them counsellors,

and 15 laymen work here.

200 of us stayed there
for two nights

to protect the people.

They came and insulted us.

There were no big problems.

from the 'cronies',

a group of millionaires,

who are in direct contact with the
military,

hoping for government contracts, etc.

Innocent girls end up in trouble
because of their deceptions.

the Muslims cannot say anymore
that they are Burmese

to be able to stay with our girls.

We had to have these laws
approved.

If a Muslim wants to marry
a Buddhist woman,

he cannot make her convert to
Islam. If he does, he goes to jail.

A Muslim should only have one
wife.

No polygamy.

Or else, he goes to prison.

Muslims can't have too many
children.

One in every three years,
no more than that.

We had these laws approved.

Now, we are a lot calmer about
the future of our country.

The Buddha's wisdom

shines everything
in our country.

We'll always be on the frontline

to protect the Bamar race
and the Buddhist faith.

The Muslims living on our land,

drinking our waters, and
violating our standards.

Our wealth belongs to us,
they destroy our youth.

You have to see how
ungrateful they are.

Despicable creatures.

We are a Buddhist brotherhood.
We join our hands together as one.

We will be loyal and faithful
to our race and to our faith.

We will only do business with those
who share our Buddhist faith.

We'll only marry those who
share our Buddhist faith.

And in our national affairs

let us preserve our nationalistic
conscience.

Does the UN have the right

to control the legitimate
authority of our country?

we, the other Buddhists,

we could have undertaken
a judicial process against Wirathu

and put him in jail for
inciting hatred,

but before that,
Ma Ba Tha must be silenced.

That's how it went.

On August 31, 2016,
in the capital,

we started negotiating with the
leaders of all ethnic insurgencies

in hope of establishing peace.

This is a unique opportunity

to achieve a historical project.

We hoped that the military,
who share power with her,

continue with us.

Too late.

On October 8, 2016,

the Rohingyas declared themselves
to be an insurgent group.

Nothing could prevent the military
from doing what it has always done.
