Vice President Biden,
Mr. Chief Justice,

members of the United
States Congress,

distinguished guests,
and fellow citizens.

Each time we gather to
inaugurate a president,

we bear witness to
the enduring strength

of our Constitution.

(guitar music)

- [Voiceover] I think
there's a lot happening here

in front of our very eyes that

happens to be very positive.

And many people are
seeing that themselves.

And the opportunity here,

we are in the midst
here of a profoundly

monumental opportunity.

That nobody could
have predicted,

that everybody,

I can remember people
calling year rush,

what do you think it
is that's going to be

the tipping point?

There has to be a tipping point,

at some point people
are going to stand up

and say, I've had it, I'm not
putting up with it anymore.

I had no idea, I said.

It's unpredictable, who knows

what the future's going to be.

Who knows where the bottom is?

Who knows where the event that

causes people to
stand up and say,

screw this, no more,

and reject all this
stuff from the left.

We could be witnessing it.

Time will tell.

(rally shouting)

- [Crowd] You believe!

Slavery is ideal!

Women are inferior!

Gays deserve!

We reject homophobia!

We respect free speech!

This is hate speech!

Get off our campus!

- The charges.

You're racist,

- [Crowd] Racist, sexist!

- You're a sexist.

- And you're anti gay.

(cheering)

Racist, sexist, anti gay,
Douglas Wilson go away.

- Right.

And it's stated in
such a way as to rhyme.

(cheering)

- Okay, I just want
to kind of reiterate

that the idea behind
this protest is peace,

if you guys want to get violent,

that's on you, you will probably

get taken out by the police.

Let's make an example
of this lovely

sign that just showed up.

We want to stand on the
side of love, not war.

Kind of cliche, but let's
kind of stay peaceful.

- The story behind me winding up

at Bloomington is a very
straightforward one.

I've got some friends
there who have,

a pastor of a
church who invited,

their women's group
invited my wife Nancy

to speak at a lady's
retreat that their

church was sponsoring,
and Nancy was

happy to go, but
one of the things

Nancy and I do is we don't,

Nancy doesn't go often
do events by herself,

and so I was tagging
along, my friend thought,

well, hey, as long
as Doug's here,

let's do an event.

So they put together an
event for me to speak

for college outreach
sort of thing.

The topic was sexual by design.

And so that was
advertised, and then

the intoleristas,
as I call them,

got wind of it and they started

to mobilize and, in
order to oppose it,

and it turned into what I
call a sociological event.

- [Crowd] Sing in the rain,
just sing in the rain.

What glorious feeling.

Arms up!

Thumbs up!

- We're at a new time
in terms of student

activism, we have
groups organizing,

we have individuals
active at organizing,

and we have social
media, which of course

gives people all
sorts of opportunities

to get things
together, so it's going

to be a three ring
circus tonight.

- Quite honestly,
my initial reaction

was, I hope nobody goes to this.

We don't need any more

so called Christian spokespeople

for hate, and that's, everything

I'm reading about
him suggests to me

that he's doing all this
in the name of religion,

and he's here at the
Kinsey Institute,

or the campus where
the Kinsey Institute,

dip on Kinsey.

- Kinsey was the original
American dirty bird.

He put a, quote on
quote, scientific

treatment of sex slash
perversion on the map,

he's the one to
whom we are indebted

for the apparently
immortal figure that

10 percent of the
human population

is homosexual, for example.

Kinsey was a scientist,
but whose specialty was

wasps, and he got
into human sexuality

and published,
published the results of

his finding, quote
on quote findings,

you have to use quotation
marks around everything,

his findings.

A lot of his data
was coming from

prisoner, you
know, prisoners and

people who were not
a representative

sampling of what was
actually going on

out in the population.

So what he did is
he gave a scientific

veneer to the acceptability
of sexual perversion.

(shouting)

- Who Kinsey was,
and what he taught,

did you feel that what
you experienced at IU,

was indicative, was downstream

of something that you
feel he helped create?

- Absolutely.

He helped create the
America in which that

behavior that was on
display in Bloomington,

was even a possibility.

Without the work of
people like Kinsey,

that set of behaviors
was an impossibility.

- And how would you define
that set of behaviors?

- Lawless, antinomian, the
idea that if it feels good,

as countless songs
have told us to do,

do it, if it feels good do it.

I am not to allow any authority

from outside me
tell me that this

particular sexual
pleasure is wrong,

or wrong headed, or
demented, or perverted.

If it pleases you,
if you like it,

if you're attracted to
it, then nothing can be

said against it
from outside your

set of nerves, your set
of sexual responses.

- He has a right to
be here, and I'm very

hopeful that those
who are responding

will do so respectfully,
but I think he needs

to know there are many people,

including many people who
claim to be Christian,

who feel he's very
misguided in his teachings.

So, this is my
shirt for tonight.

We happen to have
a t-shirt display

happening here right
now, and I thought

I would wear this.

In part because I think
Jesus had a sense of humor

and I think if he
were with us tonight,

he'd probably be walking
among the students

who are upset about someone who

seems so self righteous
and so sure of

himself and his
theories, so I'd like

to take a stand
from my perspective

on what I think Jesus
would be saying about that.

- [Voiceover] So you, are
you like the one putting

this whole thing together?

- I hesitate to
take credit for it

because I'm so humble.

- [Voiceover] I don't
really know if there's

anything out there.

- If you want to call
me the leader, you can.

- Ignore religion
for the most part.

- I mean, if
religion's your thing,

cool, skateboarding's my thing.

- I joke around and I say, like,

I'm a gay man at heart.

- I have a life,
and I am born to

live our my life
however I see fit,

and then I'm going to die.

- It doesn't make sense
to me for people to hate.

- The lifestyle that
fundamental Christianity

wants you to lead, in order to

achieve Heaven, is (beep).

- I want someone
to like chuck me

in a river and be
like, this is what

a body looks like after
three weeks in a river.

I think that sounds
like, I think that

sounds like super fun.

- You can bet that
you're not going to Hell,

and live your life for fun,

or you can bet that
you're going to

Heaven afterwards and
live a terrible life

and never have sex and
never anything fun.

- What do you think
they mean by racist,

how do you think
they have defined

the term racist?

- A racist is anyone
who is winning

an argument with a liberal.

- Now, what does this mean
in a secularist society?

What does this mean in
a secularist society?

What does it mean for the
materialistic atheist,

or for New Age
neopagans, and so forth?

- [Man in crowd] Are
you (beep) serious?

- I have been all day.

So, both of these groups,
both of these groups

believe that ultimate
reality, ultimate reality,

is infinitely malleable.

Ultimate reality is
infinitely malleable.

The materialist believes
that matter is eternal,

and that given enough
time, anything can turn

into anything else.

In the beginning was an enormous

amount of hydrogen,
with lots of potential.

That's what evolution
is all about.

You have this Big Bang, you have

an enormous amount of hydrogen,

and this hydrogen
can turn, over time,

into sea lions and
little yellow canaries

and people and
supernovas and so on.

Anything can morph
into anything else.

- [Woman in crowd] I
hope my son is gay!

(cheering)

- And I hope that
Jesus forgives him

just like he does
the rest of us.

Okay, I need to ask you
to bear with me here,

this is a university,
and I'm laying out

the premises of what used
to be called an argument.

(laughter)

What I'm saying is
premise number one,

is you become like
what you worship,

you reflect what you
think ultimate reality is.

- Doug's got to be brave to
go into that kind of thing.

I mean like I,
one of the things,

one of the reasons I don't
like to speak in front

of college, most
college audiences

is because they're really
not going to think,

they're not going to,
you know, it's like,

help me out here.

Just think through it.

I mean, there are
people who will,

but it's all hyped up
emotion, and you just kinda,

and when you're talking on
topics say like Doug is,

or like the topics
that I'm talking about,

they can get emotional.

Well, there's two responses.

There's the really emotional,

just everyone comes unglued,

or there's the I don't care,

I mean like, whatever.

And both of those
are hard to deal with

when you're in an
audience, you know

when you're in a speaking
situation like that.

So, I think it's
frustrating, you just can't

have dialogue, you can't
use reason, you can't.

- Alright, so people today
believe that it's possible,

it's entirely up to you, to
reinvent yourself if you want.

I want to argue that
sexual boundaries,

sexual definitions, follow
the same kind of pattern.

The revolt of our current
generation against the

Triune God, who made
Heaven and Earth,

is a revolt in the direction
of a pagan polytheism.

Multiple gods, multiple
voices, multiple laws,

and a general clamor out
of which it's possible

to select whatever suits
the individual at the time.

The political name
for this is pluralism,

diversity is another name
for it, the philosophical

and cultural name for
it is postmodernism.

Radically relativistic,
radically relativistic,

whether it means to be or not,

if has fallen off a cliff
and cannot be prevented

from eventually hitting
the craggy rocks below,

which I would say are
nihilism and despair.

But while falling, a number
of people, while falling,

a number of people have
the temporary sensation of

absolute freedom,
and they seek to use

that freedom in the
creation of pursuit of

various sexualities,
as part of the freedom

that they think they have.

That is why we are
dealing with metrosexuals,

sodomites, catamites, lesbians.

(crowd shouting)

Virtual perverts.

(cheering)

We weren't taking a vote.

- [Man in crowd] Shut up!

- Bloomington was probably
the most aggressive

I've seen one of
these things being,

and really one of the
most aggressive and

most, I mean, I don't
think we ever had

a security planned
for Doug before.

I could be wrong,
but I don't think we

ever had a security
planned for him.

So there literally
was fear, or concern

that this could actually
turn physically hostile.

- I got video that, during
the event or that night.

- [Man in crowd] Shut up!

I don't care what he's saying,

he's a (beep) racist,
sexist, homophobic,

misogynist (beep).

- You know, people
getting arrested.

- Get your (beep) off me.

- You know, the
aggressive verbal,

you know, attack.

- Don't touch me.

Hey, don't touch me.

- That happened at the event.

I mean, that stuff
was ramped up levels

from what we'd seen before.

- You can't have it both ways.

You can't have absolute freedom

and then say, no no,
wait, we can't do that.

So, what is going to
happen, is what will push

to the front of the line, is,

(applause)

pederasty, pedophilia,
bestiality.

(laughter)

If you believe, if
you believe that,

as Alfred Kinsey did,
that children are sexual

from birth and express
that sexuality,

if you believe that, what
you believe about ultimate

reality is going to
drive your behavior.

So what happens is this.

(cheering)

cheering for pedophilia?

Q and A, Q and A is coming
up, Q and A is coming up.

One of the things that
we have to recognize,

let's just give an
example, people say,

in these culture war debates,
people will say something

like, people on my side
of the line will say,

what about polygamy,
oh no, we're not

talking about that,
we're not demanding it,

everybody, it's just
two people, you know.

Have you noticed that
limiting marriage rights

to two is hatred
against bisexuals?

(crowd murmuring)

Are bisexuals, are
bisexuals allowed

to express their sexuality
through marriage?

- [Crowd] Yes.

- [Doug] Through marriage.

So there has to
be at least three.

- No!

(crowd murmuring)

- It's intense, just
the way it's pure rage,

it feels like a
large temper tantrum.

It's not like you're
sitting down having

reasoned discourse,
and it's an attempt to,

it's really just an
assertion of raw power.

You know, but the
thing it's weird

is the way it's an
assertion by raw power,

by claiming victim-hood.

Like the thing that I
remember, that I just

still haven't got
my mind around,

was the way it looked to me like

the people in the
crowd came with

pre-painted bruises and stuff.

You know, so they came makeupped

to have been victims.

- Particularly what
we're doing right now

is painting our faces
as if we've been hit

or bullied, or physically
harassed in some way,

to show that words
have consequences.

- But as a way to
just plain shut down

what was going on.

And so there's this
weird ability to

manipulate victim-hood
into a fist.

And it's just crazy.

I don't (beep) what he's saying.

He's a (beep) idiot.

Misogynistic (beep).

Get your (beep) off me.

Don't touch me.

Hey!

And I would say to all
the diversity mongers,

I've run into the tolerance

If you want diversity,
then show me

how committed you are to it.

until we got the
perfect cake that

just matched them, and
sometimes it would take

two hours of sitting
in a cake tasting,

and if they chose
me to do their cake.

I would just feel so honored

to be able to be a part
of such an amazing,

special day.

- It's not like,
you know, people go,

I shouldn't have to bake
a cake for two homos,

it's not like you sit in
your business that makes

cakes all day long,
it's not like you're

sitting on your couch
watching the Dodger game,

and somebody from the
government walks in,

bake a cake for those queers.

That's not what's happening.

What, I'm (beep) watching TV,

I gotta bake a cake?

has been around,

you know, my whole life.

So it's not like, there's
probably any one thing,

it was probably just
as I became aware of,

what women were trying
to get away with.

and they can kind of

say what they want
and do what they want,

and we saw that.

it comes down to?

- Everybody's got
a point of view,

everybody's got an opinion.

- I put all this
tender love and care

into my wedding
cakes, now they want

me to give it to lesbians.

- I thought that tolerance,
which was the mantra.

- Alec Baldwin has
been getting some grief

from Anderson Cooper and
from Andrew Sullivan.

- We can tolerate
their point of view,

they can tolerate
my point of view,

every American should
be able to tolerate

anybody's point of view,

and we shouldn't butt heads.

- Why did Joakim Noah
get fined 50 thousand

when Koby, for saying
the same thing,

was fined 100 thousand?

- Well, in this
situation that apparently

is not the case.

- Yeah, I am woman,

kind of we're tough.

scantily clad women,

earlier this morning
he apologized

and actually broke down.

- Now, feminists are
kind of big crybabies.

mistake, and I offended

many people, and I'm

the photographer,

and then the other
baker in Colorado.

- I didn't know, I
didn't know that same sex

attraction, or sexual
orientation was a
protected class.

- Paula said in court
that she has regularly

used the N word, and
that she admitted to her

desire to throw a
pre-Civil War era

plantation wedding.

What?

- I thought I was well
within my rights to say,

no thank you, I don't
want that order.

- Playing the victim
card all the time.

- You know, I didn't mean
it in a homophobic way,

and I think that, sorry,

I think that.

- I did not mean
to waste your time,

I can't, in good conscious,

make a same sex wedding cake.

- That doesn't matter, you know,

how you mean things
doesn't matter,

words have weight in meaning.

- And what was their response?

- Got up and walked out.

- Didn't say anything to you?

- Didn't say a word to me.

- Oh, it's easier
to be a victim,

and it's easier to
flop for the camera

and you know, claim to
have sprained your ankle.

- The word I chose
was grotesque,

and you know, no one
deserves to say or hear

words like that.

- I think it takes less
brains for one thing.

You don't have to
make an argument.

You just have to say
you hurt my feelings.

- Well, the mom came back in.

- She came back in
at a later time,

of course the mom
is heterosexual.

- There are all kinds of
different people in the world.

That's what makes
the world special.

- She tried to, she
said that she was raised

as a Southern Baptist,
and once thought

the way I did, but
her truth had changed.

- So whether someone
is different than you.

- And race.

- Ethnicity.

- Political beliefs.

- Religion.

- Or sexual orientation.

- She's evolved.

Her truth has evolved.

- Words can be hurtful.

Replace them with understanding,

compassion, and acceptance.

- The swooning couch culture,

like feminists who are (laughs).

They like to have all
the tough rhetoric,

but then immediately resort
to the fainting couch,

the like Victorian thing,
is that what you mean?

- The goal is not to

but to rehabilitate
them so they can operate

within the confines of the law.

Orwellian nightmare.

Orwell pointed out in
his essay on the politics

of English, how basically
language is full

of political
ramifications, and people

think that it's
neutral, and that when

someone says, oh,
you hurt my feelings,

that they just take
it at face value.

But no, there is an agenda here.

Winston, what was

in room 101.

- You know, I've been a
supporter of the LBGTQ

community my entire
life, and I completely

let the members
of that community

and everybody else
down when I used

a word like that, this weekend.

- It was there for
you to flop over on

when your corset got
tightened too tight,

and so it was there for
you as you passed out.

There you would go, elegantly
onto this swooning couch.

- They are trying to
get us to go somewhere.

- Thing that is in room 101 is
the worst thing in the world.

trying to get me to

let them near the
rudder, I'm not prepared

to let them have control
over what is acceptable

discourse or not.

- And my heart's
broken, and I genuinely

am deeply sorry to

been affected by that
term in their life.

- And, but it was
very in this sort of,

you know, 18th, 19th
century, swooning and

being overcome by
your feelings was,

you know, kind of hip.

- It's this, oh oh,
that's triggering.

Well, grow up.

expect your forgiveness.

- All societies have
ultimate values.

of pain or death.

It is unendurable.

It varies from
individual to individual.

successful, in getting

you fixed.

- Theocracies are inescapable.

- Because you're just adding
more ugliness to the world.

- What's that
going to look like?

What do they want
from your to be fixed?

- We're a democracy,
and so demos is the

Greek word for people,
the people are the god

in the system, and there
are certain protected

classes of people
whom I must not touch.

- Helping somebody
celebrate same sex marriage.

- I may not say
anything about them.

And if I say
something about them,

they're going to haul me in.

- And again, I just.

- What they're going
to do is they're

going to haul me in
for reorientation.

They want to put me through
sensitivity training.

What they want to
do is they want to

teach me the error
of my ways, and the

fundamental thing
they want me to admit

is their right to be
treating me this way,

they want me to admit
they have the right

to haul me in, and that
I must become my own

accuser, and I must
say that I'm sorry.

- I'm sorry.

- I apologize.

- Sorry.

- I'm just, I'm so sorry.

- If you go back to the
Stalinist show trials,

there is this inexorable,
tyrannical demand

that the victim accuse himself.

He must accuse himself.

That's the way they
do it in North Korea,

that's the way Stalin
did it, and that's

the way we're going
down that road.

So they're going
to want me to say

that I'm sorry, and
they're going to want me to

love Big Brother,
they're going to want

me to say Big Brother has
my best interests in mind,

and I've got to
embrace the system.

That's what they want from me.

Because I'm not a progressive,
secularist leftist.

Where they want to go,
I am refusing to go.

I'm saying, I'm sorry,
I'm not going to

let you punch my
ticket, I'm not going to

get on your train, I'm
not going to cooperate

with anything you're
doing, because I know

what you're doing.

- That's the fix.

That's what they
want, it was for us

to celebrate something
the Bible calls sin.

- You know, I had
worked for so many

years building a reputation
with a lot of my vendors.

When I lost my vendors
because a group

of people basically
harassed them all,

to the point where
they took me down

from their websites,
they emailed us,

said we're no longer, you know,

we can't associate
with your guys'

company, we can't refer you.

I had two people that
tried to hold on,

and they said, you
know, we love you,

we know that, you
know, this was not

about hate or anything
of that nature.

So we're going to keep
you on our website.

One girl, she called
me about a week later,

and said I'm so,
so sorry, I have to

take you down, and
I said, that's okay,

what's going on?

And she said, I haven't gotten

any business this whole week.

She goes, it's been
nothing but emails

and phone calls of
just harassment.

And that's, I mean, I told her,

take me down, I don't
want this to affect you.

Go ahead.

So I think that's,
at that point,

when I lost all of
my vendors, which was

pretty much about 70,
right about there, percent

of our business,
that's when I was like,

oh, this isn't good.

- This is free
market, capitalism,

I'm just saying that
people have a right

to go tell their people
that we're upset at you.

We don't like you
working with them,

and they can either
cave or they can not,

but I mean.

- I don't think
it's okay for them

to harass people, I think that's

a little bit extreme.

- I mean, one vendor
literally went to the

extent of things, that
I haven't been able

to pick my phone up
without being cussed out.

- Yeah.

- Okay, now that's,
I mean, that's not,

hey, do you do business
with these people?

You really shouldn't,
you know what they did?

No, that's just I'm
angry, I'm angry

and I don't want you to
do business with them.

I mean, that actually
more closely mirrors

racketeering, and see now,
here's the odd part is,

when that day, that
happened on January 17th,

when her mom came back
in, her first words

out of her mouth was,
you got to say your piece

and you got a right to
it, I want to say mine.

I said, go ahead.

It goes both ways.

- What did she say?

- She told me that I was wrong,

that her daughter
was born that way,

that God had made her
daughter that way.

She said I was wrong
and walked out.

And we agreed to disagree.

- You know, what
a wonderful thing.

Out on the street.

A family of seven
out on the street.

In the name of
equality and tolerance.

- [Woman] I don't
know anybody that has

five kids that can afford.

- 135 thousand dollar damages.

- That alone blows my mind.

- So you don't think it's
just a cultural coincidence

that these are the professions
that have been targeted?

- What happens is we just
had this wedding ceremony,

and we went from the church
to the reception hall,

and there's certain
professions you call upon

to make this look glorious.

Make this look like a
good time was had by all.

Make this lovely.

Evangelical Christian
bakers, and evangelical

Christian florists, and
evangelical Christian

videographers,
and photographers,

are saying no, we
can't make this lovely.

This is beyond the
scope of my ability.

What the homosexual
movement is after

is not the right to marry.

They're after far
more than that.

What they're after,
what they're demanding,

is our approval.

- It's like, in some
way it's the victory

of the Gospel,
because I don't think

100 years ago or on
another continent,

you could have done this.

It's like, because
as Christians,

we learn to appreciate
the underdog,

you know, because of the cross,

we favor the victim,
but they've learned

to take that victim-hood,
that instinct

to sort of favor the
victim, and turned it,

it's like a jujitsu
move, where they've

turned it into this way
of asserting power again.

But it is all just an
assertion of power,

it's like, you know,
this is the thing that's

so frustrating as
Christians, is that

tolerance, diversity,
all of these,

they're words that they
don't mean tolerance,

they mean, I mean,
tolerance means,

as far as I can tell, we
don't serve your kind.

You know, if the place
proclaims tolerance,

it means I'm not welcome there.

If they proclaim diversity,
I'm not welcome there.

And they've grabbed those words

and changed it by raw power.

And if you challenge
the definition,

it's a temper tantrum, right.

It's not going to be
a reasoned discussion

about what those
words really mean.

It's just, by power,
they've asserted this,

but they've done it in
this kind of cunning way,

where, at least, I think
Christians are initially thrown,

because we're supposed
to favor the victim,

and so we sit there,
scratch our heads,

try to figure out why,
but we don't realize,

no, this is just
another power move.

It's just they're
doing it in a way that

Christians are
slow to catch on to

what's happening.

- I can see being disappointed.

Is that worth 135
thousand dollars?

You know, 80 cents.

I'd go 80 cents on that.

- How about a free
birthday cake?

You know, I mean.

Now, the ones I find are just

I don't know what
mentally rape means.

I don't get that one.

I don't know how you can
have loss of appetite,

- [Interviewer] So you
somehow mentally raped.

- [Man] By saying I'm sorry,
I can't do your wedding cake.

- [Woman] That I just
don't understand, honestly.

- And for all those
people who would say,

well that's not what
really happened,

no, she said that on the
stand and court under oath,

that that's what I said to her,

was I'm sorry, I think I
may have wasted your time,

I can't do the same
sex wedding cake.

- And at that point,

those words are
still injuring today.

Penetrated her in
such a way that she

did not want to be
penetrated with words?

- I suppose.

- I can't describe why.

- But then again,
those words caused

another girl that was not
even present at the shop

to start smoking,
that was my fault.

They had loss of
appetite, but weight gain.

Insomnia and they overslept.

- Which by the way is actually

the worst condition
to get, right.

If I lost my appetite,
and I had weight gain?

Cause if I want weight
gain, I want to be enjoying

the food I'm eating.

Right?

So I mean that, if that is true,

that's horrible.

- I made, and this
is going to be

something that you
find interesting,

I made somebody who did not have

a job dislike going to work.

- What?

- One of the things
that, you know,

if you look at the
story of Johnny Cash,

and you look at
how the late 80s,

the early 90s, Nashville
had turned its back on him.

It was Rolling Stone,
Billboard, one of the big

music magazines, and
they just took it out

on, I believe,
American Records did,

it was a picture of Johnny Cash

just flipping off the
camera, and in a sense

something like Johnny Cash would

like to thank Nashville
for all of his support.

Nashville, in this story,
Nashville was a lot like,

you know, reformed,
evangelical culture

that has this idea
of a very clean,

nice, biblically
accurate, you know,

gospel, and so,
someone like, you know,

Johnny Cash, and they're
making songs that

we don't listen to that music.

And that's kinda dark.

I think, you know,
his music doesn't

fit into, you know,
doesn't fit in.

And it's just like Johnny Cash,

what happens.

You know, a lot of
people, a whole new wave

of younger people,
start listening to him,

listening to Johnny
Cash, become big fans

and those were some of
his biggest records.

And I think, there's
a lot of parallels

as far as that goes,
I think, you know,

Doug doesn't fit into a nice,
gospel coalition reformer

evangelical build.

- Doug was very
clear, in Indiana,

but far more than clear,
he was courageous.

I mean, that was a thing,

like you can imagine,
if you're watching that.

- I speak as a queer,
I speak as a atheist.

I speak as a student,
speak as an instructor.

- I have a hard time when
I'm watching something like

that, not imagining
myself in those shoes.

- Has by your
definition, then Abraham,

Sarah, and Hagar were
all bisexuals too?

- I'm openly gay
and a Christian.

- You know, if somebody's
standing on a cliff,

I get scared, because I
feel like I'm on the cliff,

what would it be like
to be in that position?

- What did he lose
again, by going to Heaven

and ruling over the universe?

I mean, where's the sacrifice?

- Why you think you
have the right and

the privilege of speaking
for all Christians?

- Can somebody be both
Christian and gay?

- You see that and
you're, I get nervous and

sick in my stomach.

- Homosexual behavior
is observed in

almost every species.

- Man and woman.

Does that mean God was
literally intersex?

Or was he just really queer?

- Where does Jesus say that
homosexuality is a sin?

- It's very inconsistent.

It's kind of very
confusing if everybody's

bad, then, really, what's,
I don't want to say

what's the point, but
yeah, what's the point?

- Imagine, standing there,
with that crowd, shouting.

- When that's just
your side of the story?

- Doug was clear, because
he had the courage,

and you know the
courage obviously comes

from faith, you know,
faith, to courage,

to then you can think
clearly and you do that.

So I'd like to raise up
a generation of people

that have that virtue.

Because what happens
is, as soon as

David steps up, and says, no,

I'm going to face
Goliath, as soon as

he does that, then
everybody phoomed behind,

but you have to
have a couple people

who are first really
to make that stand,

that then everybody
can go, because till

somebody does that,
everybody just sits there

looking back and forth,
until they're ripped apart,

you know, the shield
wall is broken,

and then you're gone,
and you never realize,

actually you had the forces,

you had the people,

you had what was necessary,

it's just you didn't
have the courage.

You didn't have
spine to stand up

and say what's patently obvious.

- Not only does this say

about homosexuality
is wrong, and you,

in your works, you have
said that homosexuals

deserve to die or be exiled.

So what do you say
to those people

who are wearing polyester,
with two blended fabrics?

Those who plant two
different kinds of seeds

in the same field, or
those who breed two

different kinds of
the same animal,

do they deserve to die as well?

- Number one, it is
true that the Bible

teaches that sinners
are worthy of death.

I don't want to
indicate in any way

that I think that
being worthy of death

in this way is in any way unique

to homosexuals, I
believe I deserve to die

for my sins.

The sentence of death rests on

the whole human race,
for this condition of

sinfulness and also
for particular sins,

of which homosexuality
is one, heterosexual sin

is another, and so on.

So that's the first part.

The second part
of your question,

is in the Old Testament,
there are three kinds

of laws, there's moral
law, there's judicial law,

and there's ceremonial law.

God required of the Jews
in the Old Testament

that the Book of
Ephesians calls it

ordinances contained
within in the Commandment.

It's a holiness code,
so he's teaching

them this, not that,
so unclean foods,

you're not to eat
this, you may eat that,

and the New Testament
tells us very

expressly that
this holiness code

is not erased as
though a bad idea,

but it's fulfilled in
Christ, which is why

the ceremonial law
of the Old Testament

is not binding on
Christians today.

But the moral law is.

- I mean, it's
amazing, the disparity

when you get to
a college campus.

There are smart kids,
there are kids who are

dumb as rocks, and at all
kinds of universities.

- [Interviewer] How are
the dumb people there?

- It's really not difficult
to get in to colleges.

- Is there an issue
if there are people

that love each other,
and they choose

to express their
love in a way that

does not harm anyone, nor
does it harm themselves,

and it's just purely love,

is there a problem with that?

- You're including
sexual expression

of love, or you're just talking
about loving each other?

I think we should
all love each other.

- Yeah, and I'm including
sexual expression

of love too, if it doesn't hurt

anyone else, and it
doesn't hurt you,

and it's purely love, why
is there an issue with it?

- Okay, first, if
that were the case,

I would agree with you.

- Why is that not the case?

Because I feel that
that's probably

where we're at.

- The place where
this is hitching up

is in that phrase,
provided it is not

hurting anybody else.

Okay.

In other words, we
believe, we believe

that God tells us, that
these things are destructive.

- Don't say we, because
that includes me.

I'm not part of that we.

- Got it, okay, so when
I'm saying we here,

I'm not saying we
here in this room,

I am saying, we
Christians, I'm trying to

speak on behalf of Christians.

they'll let anybody in.

student, I study

language and I study text.

I want to know why, I
guess people in general,

cause I didn't
really listen to much

of what you had to

really believe that the
Bible is the word of God.

- Should I listen to your
question as carefully?

- Well, sir, I'm

root of your faith.

would you like me to

- If you want to get,
if you want to serve

people up, talk
about their life,

and if you mess with that,

people aren't

make decisions about

aught to be no legal
restriction at all

on what a woman does
with her own body.

If she decides that she wants to

finger, I don't think

there aught to be
a law against it.

If she wants to chop
off all her fingers,

should be a law

against it, but why
do we not have to

make a law against it?

We don't, the reason that's not

a pressing social
issue, is precisely

because her fingers
are her body.

She takes care of that,
which is her body.

The issue in the
whole abortion rights

thing, and this goes
back to my first point

and my first talk,
I hope you can see

how your religious
presuppositions

define everything,
because if you are

approaching this
from a Christian

vantage point,
reproductive rights

is code word for my
body, and my child,

and I can take my child's life,

if I want, and no
one can tell me

that I can't, so if you believe,

as I do, that
there's more people

involved than just the woman.

- I just don't think
that unbelievers are

fully consistent with where
their worldview is going.

- First part of your,
whatever this is, show,

I'm entertained, somehow,
I don't know why,

I was wondering, you
mentioned something

about us having to live
up to our lifestyles

that we try to put
out for society,

try to live up to that.

I'm wondering why aren't you?

I mean, I'm listening to
this, all I hear is a bunch

of just hypocritical
talking, because I look

through, and I look
at people like,

I have two aunts, that are gay,

and they've been
together for years,

way before I was
born, and they're

like, two of the
most sweetest people

I've ever known,
you know, look at

back, they'll do anything

I find it weird that

you know, first, this
religion who has such

a loving and caring
passionate God

for the beings that he created,

why would he shun them if he

created them that way?

understanding where

off all this hate
talk and you know,

casting judgement
on other people,

because I was pretty
sure the Bible said,

you know, judge not,
lest you be judged.

And my favorite
proverb was, you know,

let you without sin
cast the first stone.

And you know, I'm
trying to understand

why you're being
such a hypocrite,

because you're not
talking, you know,

nothing you're
saying is connecting,

I just really want an
answer, and I would

like it in the form of
logic, if that's possible.

With Mathews, you
quoted Mathews 1:7,

judge not lest you
be judged, for the

judgement which you judge
you shall be judged.

Jesus is not saying,
don't ever judge,

he says, the
judgement that you use

is going to be used on you.

He says, don't judge
with a double standard.

In other words, I've not
said anything here tonight

that I'm not fully
willing to have

applied to me, the
Bible applies to me

in the first instance.

The Bible applies
to me before I think

about anybody else,
before I think about laws

or policy, it applies to me.

I am a sinner.

- This in consistency
is a common

grace almost, it
allows the unbeliever

to survive, to get on with life,

you know, to not self destruct.

- So, I study psychology here,

and I'm particularly interested
in Kinsey's research,

and I came here
under the supposition

that it was about
Kinsey, I guess I missed

that part in your
lecture, where you talked

about Kinsey, and I
was interested in where

your research is, that
shows his is wrong.

Cause you say that
Kinsey is wrong,

I'm just interested
in what kind of survey

you conducted, what you're
counterarguments are.

- The particular things
I would object to

with Kinsey is his
correspondence with

a guy named Von
Balluseck, a German Nazi

who did experiments.

- So you have a
problem with who he

was friends with, not
with his research?

- Well, he was using Von
Balluseck's information as

par of his research.

- Okay, so you still
have a problem with

his friends, not his research?

- No, his friends
were his research,

his friends, he
collected information

from these people,
and in Kinsey's

book, I think it's
table 32, he talks about

orgasmic experience in infants

two months old, four months old,

and he has the table that goes

up and explains how many orgasms

in a 24 hour period these little

kids were having,
and the only way

they'd be having what
Kinsey called orgasms,

because he defined
orgasms in these

situations as
including convulsions,

throwing up, screaming,
fear, which is what

a child would do when
being preyed upon

by a sexual predator,
that's defined

as an orgasm in his
operational definition,

and he includes that
in his research.

He included prisoners
and represented them

as part of the
general population,

he included prisoners including

people who where in
jail for sex crimes,

as normed, ordinary
citizens, I just

believe it was a
junk science to go

with a junk morality.

- Right.

- You've almost gone
beyond where you

can talk to someone.

And I see that on both sides,

I see, I mean, Christians
and non-Christians,

they just can't, they
just can't reason well.

And it's scary, you
know, run by emotions.

And I mean, we all
are, none of us are

perfectly consistent,
we're all you know,

all only human, but
it's such a disaster

out there, that it's
getting to the point

where, I mean, and I know
people have said this,

in probably every
generation, the barbarians

are not at the gates,
they're, we're hanging

out with them now.

We're a culture who is
just the littlest thing

hurts us, but we don't
mind killing others.

- So why folks in
Bloomington want to pretend

that Wilson is racist
and the answer being,

because they would like
to distract from the fact

Kinsey was a dirty white
perv, pedaling junk science

in defense of
destructive sexuality.

The reason we feel like
you're racist is because

in Southern Slavery As It Was,

a monograph by Steve Wilkins and

Douglas Wilson, I
think that's you,

it says slavery
produced in the South

a genuine affection
between the races that

we can say has
never existed in any

nation before the war since,

whatever it's failures,
slavery produced in the South

a duree of mutual affection
between the races,

which will never be
achieved through any

federally mandated efforts.

Can you please
elaborate on that?

How is that not racist?

It's actually, one more thing,

three historians even
said, condemned it,

with one of them
saying that it was

as spurious as a
Holocaust denial.

That's pretty racist to me.

So could you please
elaborate and how

it interconnects
with Christ, and how

Christ had unconditional
love for the world

and how the two interconnect,

how racism's okay because
God said it was okay,

which is kind of what this
pamphlet is telling me.

- Okay, let me step
into your worldview

for a minute, and speak
to this thing that I said

in Southern slavery.

And this is very important.

Assuming what your view of
the world to be correct,

what you just read,
if I agreed with you,

I would dismiss as
stupid and asinine,

but not as racist.

Especially since
elsewhere in the booklet,

I defined race, racism,
racial animosity,

racism, and the belief
of superiority of one

race over another as
a sin against God,

in that booklet, I do that.

- So you counter
your own points?

- No, I'm saying some
people who agitated

things need to do a
little bit more reading

before they got the
wind in their sails.

- I've done a lot of reading.

- This is the fundamental thing.

So just so you understand this.

As far as the theory
is racism charge,

I believe racism
is a sin, I believe

that it is evil, I
believe that God hates it,

and I believe that
God will judge it

along with all other
sins at the last day.

Now, is that racist?

No.

That's my position.

Now, if I believe
that you shouldn't

take a sinful institution,
which I believe

slavery was, and attack
it by fermenting a war,

if I believe that you
aught not to tackle

the problem that way,
but rather you aught

to attack the
problem another way,

you might differ,
and you're invited

to differ, with
whether my approach

to it is wise or stupid,
foolish, whatever.

But it's not racist.

Being true to our
founding documents

does not require us to agree on

every contour of life.

- We live in a time when racism

is the all purpose
attack your enemy.

So I want to say,
if someone says,

are you a racist, first, now,

what do you mean by racist?

- Okay, I'll jump in.

Do you believe the
Civil War was good?

- No.

- Are you a big of
Abraham Lincoln?

- No.

I think he was a
great man, but I don't

think he was a
helpful president,

I think his presidency
had a number

of destructive consequences that

we're still dealing with today.

- [Crowd] Equal
pay for equal work.

- Are you an African
American woman?

- I identify as black.

- [Voiceover] Caitlyn
looked absolutely amazing.

- Dealing with the fact that
we don't have slavery anymore?

- No, dealing with the
fact that the federal

government thinks
they have the right

to define what marriage
is for all 50 states.

- How do we get to marriage
and talking about slavery?

- Well, in that when
they, at the founding,

you had 13 colonies form
the federal government.

As a result of our
expansion westward,

and as a result of the
constitutional shifts

in the war between the states,

we then had the idea take root

that the federal
government could create

states, now the
federal government

is older than the new
states being created.

- So the role of the
court wasn't settled.

John Marshall settled it.

He made it clear
that the decisions

of the Supreme
Court were binding

on the state courts,
remember the state courts

as I said, they were here
before the Constitution.

It wasn't clear that
they were going to have

the final say, or these
new federal courts,

including the Supreme Court.

He established the Supreme Court

as the final arbitrator of
what the Constitution means.

The branch that
was going to make

a decision was
going to be binding

not only on the
citizens, but also

on the states and
also importantly

on the federal
government itself.

- People think the
federal, the centralized

government has
authority to tell the

lower downs what
to do, so we think

of it as a giant
corporation and the

federal government
is the CEO and all

the states are the
department managers.

That's not the
Constitutional system.

That's not what the
Constitution created.

That's not what the
Constitution was set up to do.

- As you already know,
the Supreme Court

is at the top of the ladder.

- [Voiceover] There has
been a decision handed

down on at least one of the two

cases regarding gay
marriage in America

that we expect to today
from the US Supreme Court.

- [Voiceover] The
cake shop owner

in Colorado now
facing fines or even

jail time after
he refused to bake

a cake for a same sex wedding.

- Supreme Court
justice had said,

okay everybody,
you've got to let

two dudes marry,
you've got to let

two women marry, all you people

in your states.

The federal government
would have been

handled at that
time, by eveybody

just laughing at them.

It would have been
beyond ludicrous,

because the federal government

did not have that power.

Did not have that authority.

But, it does now,
it certainly thinks

it does now, and
even many opponents

of same sex marriage
are positioning

themselves, you know,
political opponents,

they're saying, well,
if the Supreme Court

decides that we've
got to do it this way,

then well, they're the
Supreme Court after all,

we've got to do
whatever they say.

That notion that we've got to do

whatever they say,
is a political

approach that has
a lineage, and that

lineage goes right
back to the war between

the states and the
way the 14th Amendment

was adopted and then applied.

- [Voiceover] Clerk's
office turned away

gay couples who sought
marriage licenses

Thursday, defying
a federal judge's

order that said
deeply held Christian

beliefs don't excuse officials

from following the law.

County clerk Kim Davis cited

her religious
beliefs and decided

not to issue marriage licenses

to any couple gay or straight.

- I would ask you
all to go ahead and.

- Why are you not issuing
marriage licenses today?

- Because I'm not.

- Why?

- Under who's authority
are you not issuing?

- Under God's authority.

- This began when a
handful of unelected

judges decreed they
knew better than

the American people,
and that we're

going to write in
to the Consistution

a right that doesn't exist.

- The Bill of Rights was
a series of appendices,

a series of amendments.

- Resistance to the federal
court order ceases at once.

The further presence
of federal troops

will be unnecessary.

The city of Little
Rock will return

to it's normal habits
of peace and order.

And a blot upon
the fair name and

high honor of our
nation in the world

will be removed.

- Kim Davis is now
in federal custody

just moments ago
a judge found her

in contempt of court because she

would not issue
marriage licenses

to same sex couples.

- Thus will be
restored the image

of America and of all
parts as one nation,

indivisible, with liberty
and justice for all.

- The original Constitution
that the federalists

agreed to, in order to
get the anti-federalists

who opposed the adoption
of the Consitution,

to allay their concerns,
the original Bill of Rights

were all restrictions
on the power of the

central government.

- In a landmark ruling,
the Supreme Court

today legalized abortions.

The majority and
cases from Texas

and Georgia said
that the decision to

end the pregnancy
during the first three

months belongs to the
woman and her doctor.

- Who's got the power?

- [Crowd] We've got the power!

- What kind of power?

(shouting)

- [Crowd] It's basic rights.

Women can't be free.

Abortion happens now
and without apology.

- It's really hard
to say that that's

a meaningless mass of cells.

Much more difficult
than it used to be.

So, I think we're making
very significant progress.

You can see that
hearts start beating

at seven weeks, you
know, a heart doesn't

beat in a meaningless
mass of cells.

- Hold up, but
respectfully no one

in their twenties cares at all

or understands about
anything you just said.

- Yeah, that's their problem.

- But it doesn't matter anymore.

Everything you just said doesn't

matter, no one knows,
the Bill of Rights,

number 14th, no one
cares about that, Doug.

- Yeah, they're too busy
checking their email.

- So explain to me,
finish the sentence,

the Civil War was bad because?

- Well, if they don't
care about what I just

said, they don't care
about the Civil War.

If they don't care
what I just said.

- But they care about slavery,

and slavery was a bad thing and

it ended because
of the Civil War.

- No, what you're
saying is that these

people who cannot
be bothered to be

informed on what
actually happened

in 1861, 1865, they're
too bored, you're making

my heart hurt, am
I going to have to

read a book or something?

- Was slavery bad?

- Yeah.

- So we got rid of
it through a war.

- Yeah, we killed 600
thousand people to

get rid of it, everywhere
else in the western word

no other country that
practiced slavery

got rid of it the way
we did, through a war.

So, was it bad to kill
600 thousand people?

Yeah, that's bad too.

Now what, why didn't
we do it peacefully,

the way other countries did?

Why did we go to war over it?

So those issues are
political issues that don't

have anything to do
with the rightness

or wrongness of slavery.

- We have the ability
to change this.

And to change this

without a war fought
in the streets.

We have the ability to change.

- The Civil War wasn't
a just war, then?

- The Civil War was
absolutely a just war.

- So how much more
with abortion?

- We have the ability
to change this,

directly, simply by
standing up and engaging.

- [Interviewer] So
you're not willing to go

to war for the unborn?

- Where they say if
you don't want to do it

our way, which is killing
600 thousand people.

Take all the money
we spent on that war

and just buy all the
slaves for pity's sake,

and set them free, you know,

why the bloodshed?

Why do you have to have blood?

Well, if I object to the blood,

if I object to settling
that kind of dispute

the way not other
nation did, then why

all of a sudden am I accused of

defending the
institution of slavery,

which I want to get
rid of peacefully?

- We should start
with Christians and

with everyone who values life,

standing up and
speaking out together.

- This is the difference
between the conservative

mindset and the liberal mindset.

The conservative
thinks always in terms

of trade offs, the liberal
thinks in terms of solutions.

The liberal wants solutions.

And he doesn't want
to think in terms

of trade offs, he
doesn't want to think

that there's ever
a price tag for

what he's advocating, he wants

free chocolate
milk for everybody.

(shouting)

- Is this what you
want to remember,

that you spit at, the
children look at you,

and realize that
you're bigots and you

discriminate against people.

- And why can't we have it?

Why can't we just vote for it?

Right?

Well, because the
world's not that way.

- The federal department of
health and human services

overturned Medicare's
blanket ban on

sex reassignment surgery.

- Trans medicine is a medically
necessary intervention.

- [Voiceover] Just last
week, Massachusetts

became the third state
in the country to

cover transgender
healthcare under Medicaid.

- The Civil War was a
series of trade offs and

I would argue that it was
a bad set of trade offs.

- [Voiceover] Gay
is the new black.

- The definition of
civil rights, the word

civil rights is about
equal rights for all,

regardless of gender,
sexual orientation, race,

religion, and
Barack Obama himself

has defined this as
a civil rights issue.

So if he can say
it's civil rights,

then I can say
it's civil rights.

- From Seneca Falls
to Selma to Stonewall,

that's how we
achieved gay rights.

That's how we've made
this union more perfect.

- We traded things we
aught not to have traded.

And we're still paying for it.

That's my argument.

That's not to say,
that I think that

the elimination of
slavery was a bad thing.

Slavery is gone,
and good riddance.

- This transition
has been harder on me

than anything I could imagine.

- I'm as pro life as
you can possibly be.

- It's all just a
matter of items.

- Believe that abortion
aught to be against the law.

- You know, you can imagine what

they would run with this,

"they're selling body
parts," you know.

- [Interviewer] What'd
keep your lab happy?

- Another fifty livers a week.

- I believe that the
lives of the unborn

should be protected.

- Now, do I want to
kill a million people

in order to achieve
a pro life objective?

If I had a button
in front of me,

and I push that
button, and if I push

that button, we're
going to have the great

North American war, and
a million people are

going to die, after
which there will be no

abortion on demand, okay,

that's the kind of trade
off that I'm talking about.

Nobody was running
the calculus before

the war between
the states, saying,

well, we're going to
kill 600 thousand people,

that's not how wars develop.

That's not how they go.

You get in, and
then when you're in,

you're stuck.

- [Crowd] A safe
place for everyone.

We respect free speech.

This is hate speech!

Get off our campus!

Racist, sexist, go away.

Racist, sexist, anti gay,
Douglas Wilson go away.

(cheering)

- The verb, to
tolerate, is a verb

that requires a direct object.

Everything boils
down not to whether

you tolerate, but
what you tolerate.

And conversely,
it also boils down

to what you will not tolerate.

Every society
tolerates and every

society refuses to tolerate.

Every subculture
tolerates some things,

and refuses to tolerate others.

Every society,
for example, keeps

some things and throws
other things away.

So we're here at the
dump, this is the

stuff that society, this
town, is throwing away,

and there's a bunch
of stuff in town that

they're not throwing away.

Everybody keeps
stuff and everybody

throws stuff away.

The only question before us is

what do you keep and
what do you throw away?

What do you hang on to
and what do you jettison?

Our culture
currently is adopting

purchasing, bringing
home, taking into their

living rooms a novel
approach to marriage,

family, culture,
society, they've got this

new thing that they've
set up in their homes,

and because they're doing that,

they are engaged
in throwing away

their Christian heritage,
their Christian legacy.

If you keep one
thing, you have to

throw another thing
away, and flip it around,

you can't keep everything.

A society that kept
everything is a society

that would be a
dump, it would be

just a random pile of things.

You've got to sort,
you've got to select,

you've got to throw
some things away,

and keep other things.

Now, one of the
things that people

don't realize, and I'm sure this

happens at the
dump all the time,

they throw things
away and then later

they realize something
that was precious

to them is missing, maybe it got

dumped into the bag and maybe

I accidentally, I
lost my wedding ring,

or you know, that sort of thing.

And so they say, oh
no, I threw something

away that I didn't
mean to throw away.

Now, in our time, in this era,

we are self consciously
rejecting our

explicit Christian heritage.

What we're throwing
away that we don't

know we're throwing
away, is our liberty.

We're throwing away our
liberty, we're throwing

away our ability
to speak freely,

we're throwing away our
right to free speech.

We didn't know that that
was in the garbage bag,

we didn't know that
we shook that off

when we brushed off all
our Christian commitments.

We didn't know that
certain things were

going to go with it.

So, and this is of
interest to non-Christians

as well, free speech, the
liberty of conscience,

having a right to certain
fundamental religious

convictions, that right
is a right that Christians

developed, that came out
of Christian societies.

It's not something that happened

all by itself, if you
look at the history

of the world, where did
the right of free speech

develop, where has
it been established,

protected, and guarded for
as long as it has been?

Well, overwhelmingly,
in Christian societies.

And that's why it's no accident

when we are seeing this explicit

rejection of the
Christian faith,

we're seeing almost
simultaneously

the jailing of
county clerks who's

conscience forbids them to issue

a license, we've seen bakers
fined 135 thousand dollars,

in the public
sector, county clerk,

in the private sector, florists,

photographers,
videographers, bakers,

saying, you must conform.

So what they're doing,
what's happening

is we've adopted this new
commitment to egalitarianism

and same sex marriage,
and then as a

absolute necessity,
we are throwing away

liberty of conscience,
the right to free speech,

and all these things
liberals claim

are precious to them.

Well I'm sorry.

You can't take your
chainsaw to the

orchard, and then
go out in the fall

and ask, where are my apples?

The whole idea of
liberty of conscience

is a distinctively
Christian development.

When the first Amendment
was established and

put into the US Constitution,
that was America,

at that time, was not
a secularist society.

It was overwhelmingly Christian,

Protestant, and for the
most part, Calvinistic.

So basically, I would
say what you can

expect if Christians
prevail in the future,

you can expect largely what
you got the first time.

Liberty.

Christians love liberty.

And the foundation
of that liberty

was proclaimed, I
think, at the very

first when the
lord Jesus appeared

to Mary Magdalene
after the resurrection.

That's the foundation
of liberty.

Christ rose from the dead.

If Christ rose from
the dead, everything

is transformed, if
Christ didn't come back

from the dead, then
we're just a bunch

of atoms colliding
into each other

and the strongest at the top can

squash people as it suits them.

As it fits with their
notions of public order.

If I'm not created
in the image of God,

certain things follow.

If my atheist neighbor
is not created

in the image of God,
certain things follow.

And over time, men
act in accordance

with their collective
convictions.

You've seen those
bumper stickers,

if you can read this,
thank a teacher,

if you've every exercised
your first Amendment

rights, thank a Christian.

Thank a Bible
believing Christian.

We invented it.

The first Amendment
is our contribution.

And so you can't come
in late in the day

and pretend we are the
enemies of free speech,

when we are the ones who put it

on the map.

- [Interviewer] Now, you don't
believe the world's coming

to an end anytime soon?

- No, I think in the
long run, we win.

- [Interviewer] Is that
why you're optimistic?

- Yes, I'm optimistic,
I believe that God

has given promises
that the world

will be successfully evangelized

and I believe that
in the long run

stupidity never works.

So I believe that
the great commission

will be successfully fulfilled,

all the nations of
men will be discipled,

they will be baptized,
they will be taught

obedience to Jesus Christ.

Picture a soldier
pinned down behind

a sand dune on Normandy Beach.

He's just landed, he's behind

a sand dune, he
can't get to the next

sand dune, he can't
achieve his next

objective because
he's pinned down by

enemy fire, he's just
stuck, and he's in

a bad jam.

Suppose that at this
moment, we'll make

the illustration ludicrous,
that a stray sheet of paper

from Eisenhower's
invasion plans of Europe

got detached from the notebook

and is blowing down the beach,

and it lands on
this soldier, and he

looks at it, and says,
General Eisenhower,

in the orders
Eisenhower to establish

a beach head on the
continent of Europe

and to take Berlin.

And he looks at
these orders, and he

can't even get past
his own sand dune.

He could be tempted to
despair, on the one hand,

because how can we do this
when I can't even do that?

But he could also be, if he's
thinking about it rightly,

he could be greatly
encouraged and say,

however stuck I am,
there are grand forces

in front of me.

However stuck I
am, there are whole

armies in collision,
I'm just one small

part of the puzzle,
I'm just one small

part of this, the
only thing I can do,

is be faithful at
my post, be faithful

where I am, and
if I am, then I'll

just leave the results
to the sovereign god.

And that's how I feel.

There are times
when I feel stuck

behind my sand dune.

There are times
when I feel like,

why can't we do more, why can't

we communicate more effectively,

why can't we get this done.

And then a page
of Mathew 28 blows

down the beach, all
authority on Heaven and Earth

is given to me, Jesus
said, therefore go disciple

the nations, baptizing
them, teaching them to

obey all that I've commanded.

The Christian
faith is a religion

of world conquest.

It's nothing short of that.

The Christian faith is a
religion of world conquest

not by arms, not
by carnal weapons,

but by preaching the gospel,
declaring the gospel,

and by not falling
all over yourself

to apologize for
God's hard edged

definitions of sin,
because the Bible says

you evangelize the
world by preaching

repentance, repentance of
sin, and belief in Jesus.

You repent of your
sins, you turn

away from your
sins, and you turn

to Jesus Christ.

Christian preachers
have to be allowed

to define that sin
out of the Bible.

That sin is self absorption,
self centeredness,

lust, covetousness,
malice, envy,

hatred, all these
things, and the Bible

defines homosexual sin
as a very grievous,

very serious sin, and
it's one of the things

that people have
to turn away from

in repentance if they
want to be saved.

The apostle Paul
lists homosexual sins

in Corinthians
right among a couple

words for homosexual behavior

in the middle of a
list of other sins,

and he says people
who live this way

will not inherit
the kingdom of God.

So we're preaching
the kingdom of God,

we have to preach
repentance from sin,

and faith in Jesus.

And there are too many
Christians too ready

to capitulate on these
definitions of what

sin it, without
realizing they've just,

they say, well let's
not get into politics,

let's just emphasize the gospel,

not realizing that
they've just abandoned

50 percent of what
gospel preachers

are required to proclaim.
