of The Amazing Race Australia.

From coastal Swakopmund,

teams are driving
200km inland to Omandumba.

At the gates of
the nature sanctuary,

they'll find their first clue.

There's also a speed bump
for the team who came last

in the previous non-elimination leg.

one of those teams

NARRATOR: The game of Bokdrol Spoeg,
or dung spitting,

is a unique tradition.

It was invented by locals making fun
with what was lying around.

Teams must collect dung pellets

the same size
as the samples provided,

before placing
these little nuggets in their mouths

and then spitting them
into the target circle.

Once both team members have landed
a piece of dung in the circle,

the judge will give them
their next clue.

NARRATOR: A detour is a choice
between two challenges,

each with its own
pros and cons.

In this detour,

our teams will encounter
the extraordinary San people.

They rely on two things
to sustain them in the desert -

weapons and water.

Teams who choose weapons
will meet a local hunter

and follow his instructions.

To walk quietly and barefoot
to the hunting ground,

where they will learn
how to use a bow and arrow.

Both team members must master
this ancient survival skill

and successfully hit the animal
on the target.

Once each person scores a bullseye,
they'll receive their next clue.

This here might quite possibly be

the world's oldest
water bottle and holder.

And guess what it is?
Ostrich egg.

It still keeps the water cold.

Teams who choose water will craft
a water carrier from an ostrich egg.

Taught by the local women,

they will use traditional tools
to replicate the sample carrier.

They must include
the holder and stopper,

making sure not to crack the egg.

It's delicate work,
but if they succeed,

they'll receive their next clue.

down, the wildlife comes out.

In this challenge, teams will help
researchers monitor animal movements

on the reserve.

Teams will catch a lift
to the Animal Research Centre,

where they'll watch trail cameras
from the previous evening.

Using a reference,

they must identify 10 animals
that visited the reserve at night.

And with over 17 species
of deer alone,

attention to detail is vital.

If teams can correctly identify
all 10 animals in the footage,

they'll receive their next clue.
