in the blind auditions

is someone can come out
and audition for 90 seconds,

and then you turn around and you
realize you love that person,

All the time,
I make mistakes on this show.

Well, we're excited
because in Season 26,

we have something called
the Coach Replay button,

which means
when the audition is over,

you have a second chance
to go back and get that artist

by pressing your button.

But you can only do it once.
That's crazy.

I'm a real coach in real life,
so I like to replay

and see what I've done right
and wrong.

Here in the Philippines,

our life is just swimming,
music.

Every house has
its own karaoke thing.

So, singing is the first thing
that I could remember.

Karaoke is like the Olympics.

We really love karaoke.

I enjoyed so much
about my life back home,

but at the same time,

our neighborhood in Mindanao
is very poor.

* Say ya can't keep

I grew up in a slum.

My mom, my dad,
and my three siblings,

we only just have one room.

We don't have a bed,
so we just sleep on the floor,

and our bathroom is outside.

At a young age,
I know I need to dream

just to be out
of that situation.

I used to sing and do
different gigs to earn a bit.

I entered
a singing competition

in the national TV
called "Tawag ng Tanghalan."

Most of the iconic singers
back in the Philippines

started there.

But while I was pursuing
my music,

my dad back home is fighting
from kidney failure.

Sadly, in 2018, he passed,

and I stepped in to be
the breadwinner of the family.

So, I moved to America.

And deep in me,
there's a struggle in there

because I really want to --
[ Clears throat ] Sorry.

I really want to be someone

who can be of help
for my family back there.

I am super excited
to just be onstage

singing in front of these
iconic people

who I just watched on TV
for the longest time.

I am 29 years old,
and I'm from Newark, New Jersey.

a huge musical family.

My mom was an R&B singer.

She was signed to
a record label called So So Def,

under Jermaine Dupri.

That's my mom.

I got to, at a young age,

witness all that
she went through,

from artist development to
photo shoots to studio sessions,

and it was just something
that I really, really loved.

It's quite a journey,
being in the music industry.

It's a lot of ups and downs.

It has definitely helped me
to pass on that knowledge

to my children.

I'm 37 years old,

originally from London, England,

but currently living

I used to busk
on the London Underground,

singing to literally
thousands of people a day,

as they're just walking past.

Most of them
aren't really listening,

but they would
drop you change

to give you a bit of confidence.

So, it was a great experience.

So, there's four total chairs.

for nine years now.

My wife's name is Joanna.

We have three kids together,

Shortly after I moved here
in 2016,

I started noticing
I was passing blood,

and they diagnosed me
with Crohn's disease,

which is an autoimmune disease

that was primarily
in my large intestine.

The diagnosis actually led me
to music again.

I bought a little recording
set-up in my spare bedroom,

and I realized I don't feel sick
when I make music.

It was, like, healing for me.

The end of 2023,

I ended up in a really bad
flare-up again.

You know, watching him suffer
so much through all this,

there was a time
where I thought,

you know,
is he gonna make it?

Am I gonna get to
grow old with him?

Always being really sick,
dizzy, weak, tired,

it got to the point
where it's like, okay,

we're going to have to do
surgery.

First six, seven weeks,
I was bedridden.

It's been four months now,
slowly building up strength.

Still a long way to go,

living with a lifelong
chronic condition

that is incurable.

But, you know,
I'm here,

and I'm ready and thankful

for a second chance
at life again.

Kendall: The journey to get here
has been extremely long.

I've gone through many things
in my life

that just kind of
halted my progress

as a professional musician.

And I feel like now
it's finally my time.

I'm Kendall Eugene,
I'm 37 years old,

and my parents
were incredibly musical.

There was always music
going on at our house.

But when I was 14 years old,

my mom was diagnosed
with multiple sclerosis.

It was only a few months
after that she was paralyzed

from the waist down.

It made all of us
grow up a lot faster.

He kind of had to take on
some leadership around the house

with two little brothers
who were 5 and 7.

It was tough,

I know, for him to have to
grow up so quick.

Being so young and having
to deal with something so heavy

made me believe that I was
more grown than I actually was.

In high school, when I was 17,

my girlfriend got pregnant,
and ultimately we decided

that it would be
a better opportunity

for him to be
with a loving family.

We gave him up for adoption,

but thank God
it was an open adoption.

His name is Nolan, and
I still get to talk with him.

I'm extremely proud of Nolan,

and the way his life is heading

just validates, "Okay, we made
the right decision."

I realized that it's
a passion of mine to play piano

and I live in NYCHA projects
for low-income families.

There is a lot of shootings
where I live,

gangs, a lot of abuse,

and it's just very scary
living there.

I didn't get to have fun
being a kid.

I was just worried about
my life and my survival.
