versus the Legion of Doom.

This is the "Challenge
of the Super Friends."

[instrumental music]

[ominous music]

Deep beneath the cover
of the murky swamp

the sinister Legion of Doom

prepares to unleash
another incredible plan.

I don't care what's your
new scheme is, Luthor.

I am going to take care of the
Super Friends my own way.

Don't worry, Black Manta,
with my next ingenious plan

there won't be any Super
Friends to take care of.

I've heard that story before.

Black Manta, keep quiet.
Let Luthor speak.

Tell me, what would become
of the Super Friends

if three of their most powerful members

were to vanish from the
face of the Earth?

What if Superman, Wonder
Woman and Green Lantern

simply never existed?

[Cheetah] We would gain permanent
control of the world.

But they do exist, Luthor.

Not for long, Grodd.

I've recently discovered the
secret origins of Wonder Woman

Green Lantern and Superman.

Using the Hall of Doom time conveyer

all we have to do is return
through time and alter the past

so that Superman, Wonder
Woman and Green Lantern

never get a chance to
become Super Friends.

[laughing]

[male narrator] As Luthor turns
on the incredible time conveyor

the entire Hall of Doom
begins to dissolve away.

Disappearing into the past.

Within seconds, the Hall of Doom

travels back to the year 1941.

Arriving just off the
shore of Paradise Island

birthplace of Wonder Woman.

Now all we have to do is

watch the secret origin

of Wonder Woman unfold through time.

Until the moment arrives
when the Legion of Doom

shall reshape history!

[male narrator] Meanwhile, on Paradise Island

home of the eternally young
and beautiful Amazons

Hippolyta, queen and ruler of the Island

molds a young girl out of clay

under the guidance of
Athena, Goddess of Wisdom.

How beautiful!

I love this little girl
as if she were my own.

Oh, Aphrodite, Goddess
of Beauty and Love

grant my wish and let me have
this one as my daughter.

You shall have your wish, Hippolyta.

And she shall be named after the
moon goddess and called Diana.

[male narrator] And so, Diana
was born of the Gods.

She will be as strong as Hercules.

And swifter than Mercury.

The most beautiful Amazon
on Paradise Island.

But a strange peril in the outer world

is soon to alter Diana's life.

Hippolyta, you must find the
strongest Amazon maiden

and send her to the United States.

To help fight the war and crush evil.

You wish shall be obeyed, Aphrodite.

[male narrator] And so, the queen announces
to the Amazons that a tournament

will be held to find the strongest

and most able female of all.

Oh, mother, I can't wait to
take part in the tournament

I know I shall win.

No, my daughter!
I forbid it!

The winner of the tournament
must leave Paradise Island.

She will have to give up her birthright

of eternal youth and beauty.

[male narrator] Later in
Diana's dressing quarters...

The tournament is about to begin.

With this mask, I can
take part in the games

without my mother knowing.

In history as we know it,
Diana won the tournament

and her mother was forced
to allow her to leave

Paradise Island and become Wonder Woman.

But now it's time for
us to alter history.

Precisely, Luthor.

Without my Cheetah disguise, I
can sneak on to Paradise Island

and compete in the games.

And with the help of the Hall
of Doom's electronic devices

Cheetah will win the tournament
and become the new Wonder Woman.

[male narrator] Later, as the
tournament is about to commence

Diana and the others are unaware

that a stranger is in their ranks.

The tournament will now begin.

[male narrator] As the game proceeds,
Diana eliminates dozens of opponents

handily winning the lasso contest.

The Cheetah, with her cat-like skills

easily defeats dozens of others.

As the tournament nears its end...

Only two girls have
survived the tournament.

They shall meet each other
in the final match.

The magic bracelets
against the stun ray.

[Cheetah thinking]
When I win this final event

Diana will never become Wonder Woman.

[thinking] I stopped those
rays without a scratch.

Now to win this tournament.

[thinking] These radar-controlled bracelets

will give Diana quite a shock.

[zapping]

You are the winner, strongest
of the Amazon women.

Take this outfit and Magic Lasso

and use them to help fight
injustice in the outer world.

I've done it, now I am Wonder Woman.

[male narrator] But as the Amazon
impostor leaves Paradise Island

for the United States...

...she takes a slight detour
to the awaiting Hall of Doom.

Excellent! Cheetah makes
a fine Wonder Woman.

[laughs]

And now that I've won the tournament

there won't be any Wonder
Woman in the future.

[laughing]

[male narrator] Meanwhile back in the present...

[whooshing]

Thanks, Wonder Woman.

We sure got that fire out fast, Robin.

Right, Batman, I told Superman
we could do it alone.

Wonder Woman vanished into non existence

right before Batman and Robin's eyes.

Not even their memories of
Wonder Woman exist any longer.

Green Lantern is our next target.

It will be pleasure to put
his green flame out.

[male narrator] Instantly, the Hall
of Doom disappears into time.

Arriving seconds later
in a desolate area

of the Western United States.

Now we shall watch as Green
Lantern's secret origin unfolds.

Then the Legion of Doom will step in

and shape destiny once again.

[crash]

The ship is destroyed, and I am too weak

to carry on my work as
intergalactic space patrolman.

I must seek out a deserving earthling

to pass on my battery of power.

My power ring will find an honest

and fearless one to take my place.

[male narrator] With the speed of light

the strange visitor's energy
beam crisscrosses the Earth.

Meanwhile test pilot Hal Jordan

works in his flightless jet trainer.

A few more modifications and
this jet trainer will be

turning out top notch space pilots.

Where on Earth did this strange
green energy come from?

Quick, Hal Jordan, get
out while you can.

Now to take his place.

[male narrator] A confused
Hal Jordan watches

as Luthor is swept away
by the green energy beam

which takes him to the
mysterious spacecraft.

Come in, Earth man, I am Abin Sur.

And I've chosen you to take my place

as space patrolman of this sector.

With this green energy
battery, you will have power

over everything except
that which is yellow.

Take my ring and use
it to defend against

evil and injustice.

Evil and injustice will
never be the same.

[laughing]

Oh, no! It's the Green Lantern!

No, fools, it's only
me, the Green Luthor.

And now that Hal Jordan is
still a mere test pilot

there won't ever be a Green Lantern.

[laughs]

[male narrator] Meanwhile in the present...

Well, that does it.
Repair check is complete.

The Justice League Satellite
is in perfect order.

It's time we got back to the
Hall of Justice, Hawkman.

Green lantern has disappeared
without a trace.

And the other Super Friends
haven't the slightest suspicion

that he ever existed.

And now we shall get rid
of the most powerful

Super Friend of all.

My arch enemy, Superman.

[male narrator] Seconds later,
the time traveling Hall of Doom

arrives in the past, high above
the surface of Planet Krypton

birthplace of the young
Kal-El, alias Superman.

Soon we shall the events unfold

that led to the beginning of Superman.

Me watch with pleasure, see
Superman for last time.

[laughs]

[male narrator] Meanwhile on
the planet of Krypton...

Another ground quake!

There have been several
all over the planet.

Hello, scientists, our
planet Krypton is doomed.

Very soon, internal pressures
will cause the planet to explode

like a great bomb.

[all laughing]

We refuse to listen to any more
of your nonsense, Jor-El.

[male narrator] But knowing that
his calculations are correct

Jor-El builds a prototype

escape rocket in his laboratory.

[rumbling]

Quick, Lara, there is no
time to save ourselves.

We'll put our son Kal-El
into the escape rocket

and send him to Earth.

[rumbling]

[explosion]

A young Kal-El reaches Earth.

The energy from its yellow
sun will make him Superman.

But we'll see that that never happens.

Now Kal-El's new course
will take him straight

to that nearby planet, with its red sun

he will grow up to be a normal child.

And Superman shall never exist.

[male narrator] Meanwhile, back in the present

a man of steel is honored by
the Superman day parade.

You've got quite a turnout
of fans, Superman.

Right, Hawkman, it must be the...

- Superman, gone.
- Right, Bizarro.

Superman, Wonder Woman and
Green Lantern are all gone.

And with their reduced strength,
we can return to the present

and conquer the Hall of
Justice, once and for all.

[laughing]

[male narrator] With Superman,
Wonder Woman and Green Lantern gone

the Hall of Doom arrives
back in the present

to strike another sinister
blow at the Super Friends.

[alarm blaring]

[Robin] Holy Hall of Doom, Batman, look!

The Legion of Doom is directly
over the Hall of Justice.

[zapping]

[Luthor] Welcome, Super Friends.

You are now the guests
of the Legion of Doom.

[laughs]

You never stop playing your
games, do you, Luthor?

On the contrary, Batman.

It's the Super Friends who
will be playing games.

My hypnotic anger ray will cause
you to destroy one another

while the Legion of Doom
watches the entertainment.

We'll save you four for
the second performance.

Now we will have the pleasure
of watching the Super Friends

destroy themselves.

[zapping]

[instrumental music]

Tomei Ningen!

Ineck chock!

We're trapped in the
Hall of Doom's dungeon

and there is no way out.

Maybe there is, Robin.

All I have to do is vibrate my molecules

at superspeed and I can pass
right through the wall.

Nice work, Flash.

Holy discoveries, Batman.

This must be the Hall of
Doom communication center.

[Batman] We could learn a great
deal about the Legion of Doom

for their computer files.

But there is no time.

One of these buttons must
open the outer door

of the Hall of Doom.

Great Scott! We've tapped into

the Legion of Doom's file
on the Super Friends.

[automated voice] Computer file
number 17G, Super Friend elimination

plan 12, primary targets

Superman, Wonder Woman
and Green Lantern.

Superman, Wonder Woman and
Green Lantern? Who are they?

I don't know, Robin.

But we better bring this computer tape

back to the Hall of Justice
and check it out.

I found the controls to the Hall
of Doom's energy transporter.

I'll set the co-ordinates
for the Hall of Justice.

[beeping]

[male narrator] In a fraction of a
second, the energy transporter

beams the Super Friends back
to the Hall of Justice.

[Batman] Quick, we've
got to run this tape

through the Justice League
computer analyzer.

[male narrator] Meanwhile at the Hall of Doom...

What an excellent sporting event.

Bring in the other Super Friends.

Other Super Friends gone.
Use transporter to escape.

Activating scanners, will search

every square inch of the earth form.

[male narrator] Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice

the Super Friends finish viewing
the strange computer tape.

[automated voice] Hall of Doom
memory tape indicates Superman

Wonder Woman and Green Lantern

were members of the Justice League.

The Legion of Doom altered the past

to prevent them from existing.

Gaps in the Justice
League computer memory

confirm the existence of
three other Super Friends.

It's incredible.

I have no recall of these
other Super Friends.

But they must have existed.

We'll have to split up and
return into the past

to the exact times and places
indicated on the memory tape.

if we can prevent the Legion of Doom

from tampering with the
past, we should be

able to return things to normal.

I will return to Paradise Island

and take care of this Wonder Woman.

And I can set things straight
with Green Lantern.

Robin and I will go to Krypton
and handle Superman.

Let's go!

[male narrator] Using their
various modes of time travel

the Super Friends vanish into the past.

Breaking through the time barrier.

Seconds later, Flash arrives in
the past on Paradise Island.

I've got to get to the tournament
before it's too late.

Cheetah is about to use her
radar controlled bracelets

and defeat Diana, my superspeed
should handle this.

[zapping]

What could have gone wrong?

That should return things to normal.

Congratulations, you are the winner

and most able Amazon of Paradise Island.

- Thank you, mother
- Diana! You tricked me.

But I must keep my word to Aphrodite

and send you to the United States.

Something's gone wrong,
Cheetah must have failed.

We won't make the same
mistake with Green Lantern.

[male narrator] Years later at
the Ferris Aircraft Company...

Luthor should be arriving
any moment now.

Quick, Hal Jordan, get
out while you can!

Sorry, Luthor, but there's going
to be a slight change in plans.

Black Vulcan!

[thunderclap]

Come in, Earth man, I am Abin Sur

and I have chosen you to take my place

as space patrolman of this sector.

With this green energy battery

you will have power over everything

except that which is yellow.

Take my ring and use it to defend

against evil and injustice.

I will, Abin Sur, and I shall
call myself Green Lantern.

You may have faltered
this plan, Black Vulcan

but I still have another that
will cripple the Super Friends.

[male narrator] Years earlier
at the Planet Krypton

little Kal-El escapes disaster.

Holy explosions, Batman!

We've only got seconds to stop

the Legion of Doom and save Superman.

[Batman] Hang on, Robin!

If young Kal-El reaches Earth,
the energy from its Yellow sun

will make him Superman!

But we will see that that never happens.

We did it, Batman! The escape
rocket is on course to Earth.

[crash]

Jonathan, something
just crashed up ahead.

Let have a look.

[baby crying]

[Martha] It's a baby!

He's unhurt, we can hide the rocket

and tell the county orphanage
we found the child.

We will adopt him and
call him Clark Kent.

[male narrator] Meanwhile, back in the
present at the Hall of Justice...

- What happened?
- We can answer that, Superman.

The Legion of Doom returned
to the past and altered your

early lives so that you would
never become Super Friends.

The four of us broke
through the time barrier

and put the past back the way it was.

But where are the other Super Friends?

Luthor has them in the Hall of Doom.

We will work out an
escape plan on the way.

Let's go!

[male narrator] Later at the Hall of Doom...

There is no sign of the escaped
Super Friends anywhere.

We will find then, and when we do...

What's happening?

Okay, Superman, ready when you are.

Right, Green Lantern.

It's Superman, but that's
impossible, he doesn't exist.

Quick, into the fighter crafts.
We will counter attack!

Now that the Legion of Doom is
tied up in that jet dog fight

I'll have time to rescue
the other Super Friends.

[crackling]

[instrumental music]

Superman!

Hurry, we've got to get out of here.

My Magic Lasso rocket will take
care of all three of them.

[Superman] Well, Luthor,
your little time trick

turned out to be a time trap.

For you and your Legion of Doom.

Time is a slippery substance, Superman.

And with it, we will give
you the slip once again.

It may be time that helped
free the Legion of Doom today

but it will time that gives us a
chance to catch them tomorrow.
