I first came across Gomorrah as a viewer, an outsider.

I admit I was a bit prejudiced,

because I was afraid it would turn out to be

yet another stereotypical Italian crime series.

after just a few minutes' viewing I was totally...

caught up...

in its vortex.

We were shooting in London,

and people on the street would recognize Genny.

They obviously knew Gomorrah very well.

I was sitting there with headphones on, glued to the monitor.

I didn't see him come in.

So I turned around, expecting to find the script supervisor,

and there beside me was Ricky Gervais.

Then, when you realize that your work is appreciated

in so many parts of the world, in places you've never heard of,

it's thrilling.
