With man possessed with the

the world's greatest problems
can be solved today.

But, Dr. Cranum, with
that machine we are

tampering with the great unknown.

The effects could be catastrophic.

The test will now begin, Dr. Scott.

[zapping]

Dr. Cranum, something's gone wrong.

It's fantastic!

The genius I was a moment ago

is like a child compared
to the intelligence

I now possess.

The rest of the world must have these

magnificent powers of mine.

We'll borrow the huge dish antenna

from the Metropolis
Institute of Technology.

And beam my brain machine's
power across the city.

your will on others.

I'm going to warn the authorities.

You'll stop no one.

[zapping]

A strange being with
incredible mental powers

Metropolis Institute of Technology.

It looks like a man from the future.

could quit at any time.

I'd have to be crazy to fly it.

Wow, look at that plane, Jeff.

Hey, let's you and I take
it for a little spin.

a tropical resort island

crowded with vacationing tourists.

And for centuries Krackalova Volcano

has been extinct and silent.

What strange and ugly force

can be causing the long dormant volcano

to suddenly unleash it's awesome fury?

Is it possible?

Is there another world

deep in the center of the Earth?

An industrial world inhabited
by strange unknown creatures.

[dramatic music]

We've exhausted the supply of bedrock

to power our factories.

The survival of our Earther civilization

depends on bedrock.

Then, with our new laser mining machines

we shall have it, tons of it.

[male narrator] What ominous
catastrophe awaits

the unsuspecting people
of the upper world...

[rumbling]

...as the Earther's awesome lasers

melt away the Earth's
stabilizing bedrock.

Meanwhile at the Justice League
of America Headquarters...

Okay, Zan, Jayna, I want you to practice

your Wonder Twin powers
in a teamwork effort.

We'll show you how Wonder Twin teamwork

on the island of Bahia.

It's more than an earthquake, Robin.

[Aquaman] We've got to save
those innocent people

from whatever unearthly force
is rocking the Earth boat.

- Which means, split up.
- And spread out.

Right. Batman, Robin and I will
cover the land and the air.

And Aquaman and I will cover the sea.

Let's go.

Up, up and away!

[male narrator] And while the
Super Friends streak into action

deep inside the Earth
Crag and the Earthers

continue their relentless
pursuit of bedrock.

More! We must find all
of the world's bedrock.

[rumbling]

We're stranded.

Look, Batman, the ground
under those people

is gonna collapse any second.

We've got to act fast, Robin.

This calls for the Bat ski lift.

Got you.

Haul them to safety, Robin.

[creaking]

[rumbling]

We got them off just in time, Batman.

[male narrator] Meanwhile Wonder Woman and Aquaman

speed above the sea.

Look, straight below us.
It's an oil slick.

I'll stop the oil spill.

[male narrator] The super swimming
of Aquaman creates a whirlpool

which sucks the oil back
into the Earther crevice.

Now, using his telepathic powers...

...Aquaman instructs his
underwater friends

to move massive boulders...

...and thus plug the oil leak.

Thanks for a job well done, my friends.

[male narrator] Meanwhile directly under Bahia City

the Earthers melt away the
stabilizing bedrock.

[rumbling]

- Help!
- The ground's melting.

- The hotel's sinking.
- Let's get out of here.

Look, it's Superman!

He's headed straight into
the melting ground!

[Zan] Wow! I hope this isn't
too much for even Superman.

Burble

[dramatic music]

[Jayna] What was that you said
about too much for even Superman?

[gibbering]

Now, to cool off the ground.

[blows]

[music continues]

Earther number one to Crag.

Something is hardening the bedrock.

We cannot continue mining.

Find out what it is and stop it.

It looks like you've got it as
solid as a rock again, Superman.

[rumbling]

It is an upper person
cooling the ground.

Superman, look!

[Jayna] What in the galaxy is that?

[Superman] I don't know.

But we are going down after
it for a better look.

Jupiters! This place looks
like the devil himself

could pop out any second.

Stand back.

[rumbling]

It's a trap.
They were waiting for us.

Now we have them.

Zap

Quick. Get back.
This is a job for Superman.

You're no match for an
Earther-made avalanche.

[rumbling]

Biff biff biff

thud thud thud

Wow! Those boulders are landing exactly

where Superman aims them.

He's piling them up to
shore up the cavern

and stop the avalanche.

Unh! Unh! Unh!

He's too powerful.
We must escape.

Oh, no, they sealed off
the whole cavern.

I'll use my x-ray vision to find them.

Zap

Their tunnels are like a
hundred forks in a road.

You kids go back to Justice
League Headquarters.

I'll try to find out
which tunnel they took.

Come on, let's get moving.

Listen, that sounds like the ray
those rock creatures used.

[Earther 1] The coal cars are
full. Return to the lower world.

Superman would want us
to follow this up, Zan.

Yeah, and it's our chance to
discover their secret world.

[intense music]

[male narrator] As the Wonder Twins and
Gleek speed toward the Earther world

Superman searches through the
endless maze of tunnels.

Jupiters! They've got a
whole world down here.

Come on, we've gotta get back
to Justice League Headquarters

and tell the Super Friends.

[clattering]

[laughing]

Intruders from the upper world.
After them.

[Jayna] Nice going, Gleek.

[gibbering]

Capture the intruders.

Run for it.

[intense music]

Dead end, Jayna.

Quick, activate Wonder Twin powers.

We'll do a fast grip slip.

[both] Wonder Twin powers... activate.

Form of puddle.

[Crag] What is this?

Form of a, a caterpillar.

[Crag] A transformation.

[Jayna] Oh, I should've become a guppy.

Caterpillars can't swim.

[Zan chuckling] Now look
who's wet behind the ears.

All the easier to hold captive.

[intense music]

So the upper people have
discovered our secret world.

Seal all the tunnels.

[male narrator] Within minutes,
the armada of Earther

laser machines moves out
to seal the tunnels

which melt and then
harden into solid rock.

Blocking Superman at every turn.

I've got a plan to stop them

but it will take all the Super Friends.

[dramatic music]

The tunnels are all sealed, Crag.

There's no way the upper
people can find us.

Excellent.

Soon we'll resume our mining.

But what of the super one
we fought in the tunnel?

I have a way to deal with him.

And these too.

Time for the next de-coder clue.

Remember you already have the clue

you've to do is figure out

the Super Friends discover

that the Wonder Twins have vanished.

We've searched everywhere
for them, Superman.

[gibbering]

[continues gibbering]

Zan and Jayna must be prisoners
of the rock creatures.

We've got to find them.

But you say they've
sealed all the tunnels.

Yes, but they must have air.

Somewhere there has to
be ventilation shaft

that Gleek used to escape.

Yes, and an exhaust shaft.

We'll split up, as soon as any
two of us locate the shafts

we'll determine their angles
and use triangulation

to pinpoint the exact location
of their hidden world.

It's our only chance.

[male narrator] And while the
Super Friends streak into action

the automated Earther machines

are well into the construction
of the mechanical monster

designed to stop Superman.

It will soon be finished, Crag.

Excellent.

[male narrator] And nearby, Zan
and Jayna are still trapped.

Unable to make contact and thus
restore themselves to normal.

Then a strange phenomenon
begins to take place.

A mysterious web-like
cocoon envelops Jayna.

- Jayna, is that you?
- Who do you think it is?

A bionic butterfly?

[both] Wonder Twin powers deactivate.

Nice going, Jayna.
How'd you do it?

That, big brother, is my secret.

Now, let's get out of here.

[intense music]

Jupiters! What's that?

[Jayna] They're building
some kind of super monster.

How are we gonna get out of here
to warn the Super Friends?

Leave it to big brother.
I've got a nose for tunnels.

[male narrator] While Zan
and Jayna search for a way

out of the Earther world...

...Superman searches above

for the Earther secret air shaft.

So far no sign of the rock
creatures' air shaft.

That must be it.

[dramatic music]

I've located an Earther air pipe

at map coordinate 74, angle 47 degrees

pointing due North.

Roger. Now, all we need is to
locate their exhaust shaft

and triangulate right in on them.

[male narrator] And far out at
sea Wonder Woman and Aquaman

search for the Earther's exhaust shaft.

Look, Aquaman, directly below us.

[dramatic music]

Aquaman to Batman.

Underwater exhaust vent located.

Map coordinate 461, angle 20 degrees

pointing 130 degrees Southeast.

Roger, the Batscope computer

will zero in on the target in seconds.

[male narrator] Using the time-tested
system of triangulation

Batman draws the angle of
the Earther exhaust vent

on the Batmobile computer map.

[Batman] That does it,
Robin. We've found it.

Batman to Super Friends.

Batcomputer pinpoints the
rock creatures' hidden world

directly under Krackalova Volcano.

Superman to Super Friends,
reassemble at rim of Krackalova.

[dramatic music]

[Superman] This volcano's crater

leads right to the rock
creatures' world.

Right, but how do we get through
all that lava and flame?

Wait here while I go down and
douse the volcano's source.

It's the super one.

He must be stopped.

[dramatic music]

Now, to get rid of your
man-made volcano.

Boom

Superman to Super Friends.

That takes care of their volcano.

You can all come down now.

Let's go.

You are finished, rock people.
Surrender.

This time you are in
my world, super one.

It is you who are finished.

Crackle crackle

[rumbling]

Boom

[Crag] You are no match
to our super one.

[rumbling]

Holy, super monsters.

That big bag of bones is after Superman.

[gulps]

That'll teach the big boy
not to fool with Superman.

The bigger they are the
deeper they fall.

And now to find Zan and Jayna.

Yeah, big brother's nose for tunnels

had us running around
in circles for hours.

We still have work to do here.

You have defeated our super monster

but not us.

Our laser rays will now defeat you.

Blow up the cavern above them
and seal them forever in rock.

all our rays, super one.

...Superman breaks off a
huge piece of bedrock

from the asteroid Agnor

and returns with a 1000-year
supply for the Earthers.

Later at Justice League Headquarters...

Now that Grand Bahia
island is peaceful again

I have one question, Zan.

How did you kids get out
of the beaker and syringe

without touching?

Yeah, I'd like to know too.

Just turn yourself into
a puddle, big brother

and I'll show you.

[both] Wonder Twins power... activate.

Form of a caterpillar.

[Zan] Okay, little sister, out with it.

I was in the syringe and you
were trapped in the beaker.

[Jayna] Then a cocoon formed around me.

It was a cinch. That caterpillar

with mother nature.

[laughing]

[Jayna] But it's a lucky
thing Gleek wasn't around.

Or we would have never made it.

[all laughing]

in today's story.

I'll use it to make this coin disappear.

All that needs to be done is to put

the magic cover over the glass.

And then put it and the
glass over the coin.

The coin will now disappear.

wintry North Atlantic

a giant supertanker heads toward Norway.

Mr. Lonborg, what are you doing?

Radar shows severe seas ahead, sir.

I changed course to avoid it.

That will lose precious time.

- I'm in command here.

And I plan on setting a new
speed record to Norway.

Now, go after and secure the cargo.

I'll man the wheel.

This is madness. We will never
make it through this storm.

We've got to stop Capt. Croner.

He's locked us out of the bridge.

Later at the Hall of Justice...

Attention, Super Friends.

We just received a distress call

from a tanker in the North Atlantic.

The captain's locked the
crew out of the bridge.

And is headed into a raging storm.

Looks like we've got a
job to do Aquaman.

Right, Black Vulcan.
Let's go.

Black Vulc-a-a-an!

[male narrator] In seconds
the Black Vulcan

is on his way in a flash of lightening

while Aquaman races
across the choppy seas

in his Aqua scooter.

[intense music]

This ship will hold up to any storm.

And no scare-crazy crew will
stop me from getting to Norway

in record time.

The bulkhead, it's leaking.

No use. We've gotta turn back
or we'll sink for sure.

[thunder rumbling]

Black Vulcan to Aquaman.

This stormfront's making it
impossible to locate the ship.

Perhaps my fish friends
can help us find it.

[male narrator] Sending out his telepathic waves

Aquaman summons his undersea friends.

And glowing lantern fish
respond to his call.

[Aquaman] It worked, we
now have a lighted trail

that will lead us straight
to the supertanker.

Black Vulc-a-a-an.

[male narrator] But can
Aquaman and Black Vulcan

reach the ship in time?

- Let's get out of here.
- She's gonna sink.

[dramatic music]

Hi, have you figured out
where that coin went?

Actually it never left the table.

See, it's right where I put it.

To make this trick work cover
the open end of the glass

with colored paper the
same as on the table.

Glue it to the rim of the
glass and trim the paper

so none of it sticks out.

This cover is used to hide the paper

on the end of the glass.

It covers the coin and makes it

seem to disappear

which is what I'm going to do now.

[dramatic music]

There is the ship, Black Vulcan.

I see it.
Meet you aboard.

Help! She's sinking.

My lightening power will
seal that leaking bulkhead.

Now, to weld it close.

Let us know if there is anymore trouble.

In the meantime, we'll pay
a visit to the captain.

Speed 23 knots.
I'll easily break the record.

[Aquaman] Captain, turn
this ship around.

You are endangering your entire crew.

Never.

You maybe king of the sea, Aquaman

but I am king of my Vessel.

But you are heading straight
for the maelstrom.

A giant whirlpool

that can easily suck this
ship to the bottom.

I'll sail around it.

And you won't stop me.

[dramatic music]

This cargo net should
hold them for a while.

[laughing]

[male narrator] Without warning a

to be dropped into the oil hold.

This oil is pulling us under.
