teach a serious lesson in brotherhood

gets some young people into trouble.

The Superfriends have to
do some big thinking

when the world is endangered

by a terrible shrinking machine

in the hands of a greedy inventor.

The passengers of a disabled aircraft

get instant attention

as Superman and superhero Flash

rush to save them from Tibetan raiders.

[male narrator] New Orleans, a city
asleep before the dark hours of dawn.

Unaware of a terrifying presence.

[creatures snarling]

[trumpeting]

[roaring]

[male narrator] Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...

Holy Houdini! You mean
animals are just vanishing

from zoos all over New Orleans?

That's right, Superfriends. And...

I've just received information

that something strange is going on

at this moment at the
New Orleans city zoo.

There could be a connection.
We'll check it out.

Right, Batman.
We'd better leave immediately.

[male narrator] In moments,
Superman and Batman and Robin

streak into the night...

...arriving shortly at the
New Orleans city zoo.

Holy wild animals. Who'd wanna
steal an African lion?

I don't know, Robin.

But perhaps our Bat-fingerprint
duster can give us a clue.

Whoever it was that unlocked
this cage wasn't human.

Animals. Sounds like it's coming
from the other side of the zoo.

And I'll search from the air.

entered that old mansion.

I think it's time we
dropped in for a visit

and found out what's going on in there.

[doorbell ringing]

Someone's at the door.

Oh! It's the Superfriends.
And they've come to stop me.

Panther man, wolf man,
take care of our guests.

[both snarling]

We mustn't keep the
Superfriends waiting.

[Xra laughs]

[Robin] Holy silent butlers.

It could be a trap, be careful.

[Batman] No sign of anyone.

[Superman] Looks like the
welcoming committee is here.

Then let's throw out the welcome mat.

[creatures snarling]

How about some super-assistance, Batman?

Hasn't anyone taught you
it's impolite to interrupt?

Quick, Robin. Use the
fast-drying Bat-super-glue.

And be sure to squeeze

these strange animals.

where car trouble spells

to Devil's Pond

a remote area outside the city.

Strickland, you cannot leave us here.

[male narrator] Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...

Professor Wong and his
assistant, Mary Nelson

have vanished without a trace, Batman.

Holy microbes!
Wasn't Professor Wong

working on a top-secret
shrinking device?

That's right, his associate,
Professor Strickland

is at the institute now

trying to help us with any
information he may have.

We'll get on it immediately.

With Zan on the case, the professor

and his assistant are as good as found.

[male narrator] Moments later,
Batman, Robin and the Twins

race to the Metropolis
Science Institute.

No, Batman, Professor
Wong and his assistant

left no word about where
they were going.

They finished their work and
both left the institute.

- That's the last I saw of them.

The last entry in Professor
Wong's ledger is unfinished.

It ends in a scrawl.

It looks like something interrupted

Professor Wong while he was writing.

Holy penmanship!

Do you think that could
have anything to do

with his disappearance?

I don't know, Robin.

But we'd better take this back

to the Hall of Justice and check it out.

That ledger will tell you nothing.

computer can find a clue

on this ledger page.

[automated voice] Electron scan indicates

Professor Wong's
fingerprints and some dust.

Radiation analyzer is picking
up a high concentration

of nuclonic beam particles.

That could be from the test they
were doing on the miniature car.

The concentration is too high.

That means the beam had to have
been aimed near the ledger.

And at the professor and his assistant.

Jupiters. They both must have
been shrunk down to ant size.

I'm going to program the
computer to enlarge the page

on the area where the
writing trails off.

[Superman] Just as I thought.

One of them wrote a message
after they were shrunk.

Then it was Strickland who shrunk them.

If they're at Devil's Pond,
they're in great danger

and finding them will be like

looking for a needle in a haystack.

There's only one chance.

Shrink ourselves down
and search the area.

There's no time to lose.

[male narrator] Moments later as
the Superfriends race toward

the Metropolis Science Institute...

catches us, we are through.

I never thought I'd be in a
race against one of them.

[growling]

forgive the litter.

We've got to get out of here.

I don't know how much
longer we can last.

[male narrator] Meanwhile, back
at the Science Institute...

nowhere to be found.

We'll worry about Strickland later.

Right now, we've more
important work to do.

[Batman] Ready, Superman.

[male narrator] Arriving at Devil's Pond

the Superfriends set
their plans in action.

To cover the most area
in the shortest time

we'd better split up.

Superfriends search the area

common everyday insects and animals

become hostile monsters.

Superfriends continue to search

to fashion a crude signaling device.

I just hope the Superfriends

I've spotted some kind of signal.

respond to Wonder Woman's call

into the pond area.

I know the Superfriends are here.

a little surprise waiting.

[chuckles]

As soon as the others arrive

I'll fly us all back to the institute.

[Mary] A trapdoor spider.

He's looking for food,
and he thinks we're it.

[squealing]

[instrumental music]

I thought you were headed
for a roaring fire.

This looks like more fun.

Besides, you were going to give
me the second de-coder clue.

This is the perfect place for it.

The second de-coder clue is right here.

People usually use two words to
describe a place like this.

The first word is skating.

But the second word is the one you
need to figure out the clue.

Think about it for a few minutes.

we've got to help them.

At our size, it's almost
an impossibility.

We've got to get the professor and Mary

then make it across Devil's Pond

and back to the institute

where we can enlarge ourselves.

[male narrator] The Superfriends
start their journey

back to the Science Institute...

...unaware that Professor Strickland

has the nuclonoscope in
the back of his van

along with Superman and Wonder Woman.

[Superman] It's no use, Wonder Woman.

With my tiny size, these
four-inch steel walls

are even too tough for me.

There must be a way.
We've got to get out.

Maybe we can.

My heat vision should be able

to slowly burn through these walls.

Sizzle sizzle

[Robin] We'd better hurry, Batman.

It's gonna be night soon.

Screech

Jupiters, look at that.

Giant red ants.

[Mary] They could sure spoil a picnic.

They extend for miles.

We better head for the
desert and go around them.

[male narrator] Later, as the Superfriends
continue across the desert...

Holy hurricanes. That tornado
is headed right for us.

That tornado is a tiny
dust devil, Robin.

We've got to outrun it.
But not on land.

The inflatable Bat-balloon
should take us above it.

[Zan] This ballooning is a
real gas. Helium, that is.

[Jayna] I think you're
getting lightheaded, Zan.

That dust devil's changing course.

It's heading right for us.

[Batman] We've got to

I'll release the gas from the balloon.

[Mary] Giant water bugs!

[dramatic music]

[male narrator] Aquaman summons
a giant bass to help him.

I wish those bugs would stop bugging us.

[Gleek gibbers]

[bugs screeching]

[Aquaman] There are too many of them.

We'll have to make a run for it.

[gibbering]

Gleek's caught on a branch.

[Jayna] And the water bugs
are moving in on him.

Whoosh

[Batman] Good work, Gleek.

You're the world's first
outboard monkey.

[gibbering]

[male narrator] Later, at Strickland's hideout

Wonder Woman and Superman

continue to burn through
their steel prison.

[Superman] I think we've
just about got it.

My magic lasso will open the latch.

We made it.

[Superman] There's Strickland's nuclonoscope.

We've got to get it back
to The Science Institute.

And then find the rest
of the Superfriends.

But how are we going to move it?

You ever drive a van before?

All set, Superman.

I'm going to hit the ignition.

[car engine cranks]

[Superman] Here we go.

What's going on?

How's it going, Superman?

Strickland's right behind us. Hang on.

Screech

[dramatic music]

I hope Batman and the others

are having an easier time than we are.

[Robin] Holy highways, Batman.

How are we gonna get
past those giant cars?

and I'll show you.

We're almost there.

- Now to the Science Institute.

[Wong] Those steps, they are enormous.

[Mary] We'll never be
able to get inside.

With the aid of our Bat-cables

we're all going to do a
little mountain climbing.

We're almost there.

[Robin] We made it.

Now to get to the nuclonoscope.

[Batman] This is the laboratory.

[Robin] The nuclonoscope. It's gone.

We'll never get back to normal size.

[car revving]

Sounds like Strickland's van.

[instrumental music]

We're at the institute. Give
her the brakes, Wonder Woman.

So, you two thought you could escape.

Now I'll make sure you'll
never get away again.

[Batman] Guess again, Strickland.

the Superfriends ready themselves

under the nuclonoscope to
return to normal size.

I hate to think of how Strickland

would have used the machine.

Strickland was overcome with greed.

And when people let greed take over

their minds become clouded

as to what's right and what's wrong.

[laughs] Looks like Gleek
brought his lunch.

[Zan] One thing you can't
shrink is Gleek's appetite.

[all laughing]

Batman, I'm pretty sure I've got
the code word figured out.

Okay. What is it?

The first part of the word

was what I was doing back
there on the ski slope.

Which was shivering.

[Batman] All you need are
the first two letters

of the word, "S," "H."

[Robin] Right, and if I put those two

letters together with
the name of the place

we just left, rink.

I get the code word "shrink." Shrink.

Absolutely right, Robin.

[both laugh]

[male narrator] It's deep into the
Himalayas as Superman and Flash

search for a crashed airliner,
endangered by the elements

and Tibetan raiders. Next.

[instrumental music]

Today's magic trick is
the disappearing glass.

First I wrap it in newspaper

and then I put the wrapped
glass over the magic coin.

Let's just check to make sure the coin

is positioned correctly
on the table. There.

Now for the incantation.

Disenchant and disavow, this
glass will disappear right now.

[laughs] I'll be right back
with the secret to this trick.

[thunder rumbling]

[male narrator] High above
Tibet, over the Himalayas

a Tibetan Airline jet fights its way

through the turbulent stormy skies.

Crackle

Captain, fire in the starboard engine.

Shut it down.
Switch on the extinguishers.

Hiss hiss

We can't hold altitude.

Prepare for emergency landing.

[intense music]

Thud

crash

ls everyone alright?

- Yes.
- We've landed safely.

Send out a mayday, make it quick.

This blizzard will tear us apart.

This is Tibetan Airlines, Flight 552.

Does anybody copy? Over.

[male narrator] Halfway around the
world at the Hall of Justice...

Superfriends, we have just received

a radio distress call

from a Tibetan Airlines passenger jet.

It has crash-landed in a remote
area of the Himalaya Mountains.

There is no way we can
get to them in time.

if it's time you're concerned with

my super speed will get
me there in a flash.

We'll leave immediately.

[Superman] Up, up and away!

[male narrator] As Superman
streaks into the sky

Flash runs at super
speed around the globe

toward their destination
in the Himalayas.

We'll freeze if we don't
get that door covered up.

The storm is too strong.

They'll never reach us in time.

Creak

[dramatic music]

[horse neighs]

Look, someone is coming to rescue us.

They're not rescuers.

They're Tibetan raiders.

[horses neigh]

Hurry. We must barricade the door.

The raiders prey on helpless travelers.

swish

[horses grunting]

The raiders have broken in.

We're finished.

[instrumental music]

Now to explain the disappearing glass.

Actually, the coin has
nothing to do with it.

The important part is wrapping
the sheet of newspaper

tightly around the glass
so that the paper

takes on its shape.

Now get your audience's
attention on the coin

by putting the glass over it.

While you keep their attention there

let the glass fall out of the
newspaper into your lap.

Now the paper's empty.

And to prove it, you crush it.
The glass has disappeared.

[male narrator] As Superman
flies over the Himalayas

Flash runs at top speed

through the treacherous mountain passes.

Both in search of the
downed Tibetan airliner.

[gasps]

[horn blows]

Vika, others approach.

We must lead them away.

[horses neigh]

Swish

Ha-ha! The intruders will follow
us while Vika hides the plane.

Great Scott. Tibetan raiders.

And they've got the tail
section of the jet.

They must know where the jet is.
We've got to catch them.

Swish

We bury the plane then
dig it up later. Ha!

[horse neighs]

Thud thud

[intense music]

We've been buried beneath an avalanche.

We'll never survive.

That's quite a souvenir
you've got there.

Mind telling me where you found it?

[intense music]

[cable snaps]

[Superman] I hope you two
are enjoying the snow.

You're not going anywhere
till you do some talking.
