for building a timeless wardrobe.

Hi everybody, I'm Kaye
Barron. Today's dilemma,

how to decipher
event dress codes.

And I'm going to do that by
talking you through several

outfits that work
for black tie, formal,

cocktail and the ever
confusing smart casual.

So I'm going to start with
black tie. Usually in your

everyday life, you're
not invited to that many.

Amazing if you are. I'd love to
have your life. But it does mean

that you don't need a lot of
outfits in your closet that work

for black tie. But what you
should have is that dress or

that suit that makes
you feel incredible.

Which is why I've gone
for this amazing dress

by Emilia Wickstead. It really
is the most amazing shade of red

and also a really simple
piece just to zip up.

Don't really need a lot of
accessories to go with it.

I've just gone for a
pair of black Manolo

Blahnik sandals
with quite a high heel

height because I do
love to have a high heel.

And then I've just
added a few beautiful

fine jewelry rings and
then some earrings as well.

And then I would
just add a little bag.

When I go to events,
I don't like to have

a mini mini bag because I
feel like I haven't got everything

I need. Which is why this
bag from Ferragamo is perfect.

You can fit all your essentials
and a little bit more in it,

which is great.
And also, I think with

a dress like this, you
don't want the shoulder bag

so anything that distracts just a
clutch that you can have and wear

slightly further down the
body or tucked under the arm.

Especially if you're going
to hold your drink too.

I love the flash of red which
perfectly matches the dress.

This color isn't your thing and
it's not your comfort zone and

I think you have to feel really
amazing in what you're wearing

for black tie. You could
go for the little black dress

or in this case the long
black dress. This dress

is by Proenza. I love the
simplicity of it but it's actually

still quite sexy especially
with the halter neck front.

And then it just has this
lower back but it's not

too low so you can still wear
it a bra under it if you need to.

It's great also just with
some great accessories like

the jewelry that I'm wearing
and also just with a great

bag like this one from Gucci.

And I love the fact that the
patent leather from the Gucci

just adds a little bit
of texture to it as well.

The question a lot of
people ask about black tie

is do you still have to wear
a long floor length gown?

And the answer is not
necessarily. I do love

a woman in a room
that's wearing a tuxedo.

I tried this on earlier
and I absolutely love it.

This is by Tom Ford, an
amazing blue velvet suit

with tuxedo detailed trousers.

Fits incredibly. And
I like the idea of it

with just either a simple
black bra underneath,

or nothing at all and just
like a long piece of jewelry

or if you need something slightly
more modest than a black camisole.

The second dress code we're
going to speak to is formal.

Some people might think of
the word formal and they think it

means boring. Get that out of
your head. Formals should just

mean classic. And I'm
going to approach this as if

I have been invited to a formal
wedding. Not a black tie wedding

but still a formal one which
is maybe more traditional.

But just because it's formal
doesn't mean to say you can't have

fun with it through color,
texture and a hint of skin.

I think that when it
comes to weddings,

especially traditional
ones, wearing black

is often frowned upon. Some
people I think have told me

actually think it's rude that
people wear black to weddings.

So apologies if anyone has ever
thought I've been rude at their

wedding wearing black.
So I'm going to go for black

and white polka dot. I think
that's completely allowed.

But I've also just paired them
with a pair of red Paris, Texas.

Shoes which are really
comfortable and a really

kind of like easy heel height
which is really good for dancing.

Which is always really important
at a wedding. And then I've also

just paired it with some
jewelry just mixing the metals.

If you feel even
uncomfortable wearing

black and white to
a formal wedding.

This gorgeous
color option, again

it's the same set but
in this amazing yellow.

This looks great if
you've got a little bit of

sunkiss skin or darker
skin it looks beautiful.

This is by Alaia. And Alaia
really know how to make

an amazing dress that
will make you feel fantastic.

The fit of this is gorgeous and
actually it's a very good weight

of fabric as well. So it really
does kind of cinch you in.

It looks like it's
quite a simple shape.

Which it is but it's classic
with a twist which is what I think

we should always bring
to a formal dress code.

And this cowl neckline can
also double up as a hood.

You might not think you need a
hood in your formal evening dress.

But there's always room for
hood when it comes to Alaia.

And it actually looks
incredibly modern if it's just

pulled up over the head maybe
towards the end of the evening.

This looks great with a
little Alaia evening bag.

It just makes it feel a little
bit more contemporary too.

I love the fact that this
Alaia bag was perfectly

with a book dot of
this outfit as well.

The final dress codes
we're talking to are cocktail

and smart casual.
For me cocktail invites

are the most fun
and the best to get.

And it's my favourite way
of dressing up. But I think

if you've been invited to
something and there's a dress code

dress up for it rather than
down. And I think that there is a

combination that works
for cocktail parties,

for smart casual
events, and also

for loads and loads and
loads of general parties.

And that is jeans and a
really good going out top.

This outfit may be one of my
favourite things I've ever worn.

I'm a complete denim
girl and I live in jeans.

And I love the idea that you
can just put on a going out top

and then the
world is your oyster.

But this top is very special.
This is by Dolce & Gabbana.

I like the fact that it
feels kind of quite simple,

really kind of structured, and has
this big scarf tie that again is

simple from the front that then
leaves a long train at the back.

I could wear this again,
obviously with jeans, but then

with high-waisted trousers,
skirts, dress up even more.

So it works for cocktail,
but also works for events too.

I think if I'm going to wear
something a bit more cropped,

I like to wear the jeans
quite high. These jeans are by

Silver Lake. If you're wearing
high-waisted jeans or any trousers

and the belt loops are exposed,

I do think that you
should always wear a belt.

Belts are unsung heroes in our
wardrobes. And I love this one

by Saint Laurent. Because
this top is so incredible,

you don't need huge
amount of accessories.

So I've just gone for these gold
earrings from Jennifer Fisher.

And then I have added
these Bottega sandals.

And I do love the fact that
these jeans are slightly shorter

and combined with the sandals.

They feel quite 80s. And I do
love the fact that there's an 80s

aesthetic that's back. But if
you want to add a little bit of

color as well, then I think you
can do that within your bag.

And I love this really
brilliant one from Jill Sander.

Such a good smash of hot orange.
Wear it across body.

Really good keeping on
you when you're dancing too.

I love going out tops, even if I
don't actually go out that much.

And I do feel that you
can never have too many.

I like that this one from the
front by Saint Laurent looks

quite modest. I mean
always sophisticated of course

at Saint Laurent. But they've got
these great shoulder pads

that just gives you a little
bit of a power shoulder.

But then from the back is amazing
draped back of the neckline.

Two-command attention when
you're leaving a room as well.

And come on, nobody is
going to have a terrible night

in this dress. This is
by Alessandra Rich.

It feels quite Melanie
Griffith in Working Girl.

And if you haven't seen that
film, go and watch it. And again,

because this kind of does
everything for you, all you need

would be a pair of earrings and
a great pair of high heel sandals.

Then this is a great
one from Stella McCartney,

which somebody did
compare to a kind of

early Madonna outfit earlier.
So you can't go wrong with that.

It is one shouldered.
So you have

basically your arm coming out of
the side and creates this amazing

kind of shape on your
shoulder. Very dramatic.

But again, super easy to
wear and doesn't need a lot of

accessorizing either. And a
piece that you should have in your

closet, if you don't
already, is a black jacket.

This one can just throw over
an amazing evening gown.

You can throw it over
something more formal.

It just gives it a little bit more
edge. And of course, it works

perfectly with jeans
and a great top.

A shorter jacket with
high waisted jeans does

make my legs look longer.
And that's always a win for me.

And this, which is unexpected, but
because of the top I'm wearing.

Also, it just gives
me a nice tail.

Now you know how to
decipher the dress codes

that are in the invites that are
rolling in. For you this season.

But the main thing is
that you just have the best

time in whatever you're wearing.

So in the fitting, Karine
told me that she wants

me to have big, crimped hair.

I haven't had crimped
hair since I was like seven.

So I'm excited for that.

And then we're going to do
crazy rainbow eye makeup.

We're in the hands of Pat
McGrath, so I'm not worried.

Oh my god. -Hi. -Yay.

This is my bestie, Devyn.
-What's up?

We met at Jekyll's show
in what, 2021? -2021.

Yeah. -It was my first show.
And I was super, super nervous.

And I saw Yumi kind of
standing there like waiting.

So I went up and I'm
like, hey, I'm Devyn.

And then the rest was history.
-Yeah.

I think it's very relieving to
have a friend. And the industry.

I think especially a friend
that's in the same category.

Because they're both bigger. And
usually when jobs are booking us,

there's only one bigger
girl, which is mine.

But yeah, we'll call each other
like, we're actually not going to

be in New York. I'm on
option for this. She's like,

no, wait, I'm on
option too. -Yeah, yeah.

Oh, wow.

Look at the camera.

You heard the call
time was 9 am, right?

Yeah, the call time I heard was
9 am and the show was at 9 pm.

Long day, I'm probably
a big rehearsal.

I definitely feel like this
one is more fun because...

I don't know the whole experience
even going into the fitting.

It's like, what am I going
to wear? It's like a surprise.

You don't know what
designer. -Food was delicious.

It's all about the look.

Shaded Drive's Lakefront
Retreat in Central Florida

transformed from dark
and dated to radiant and vibrant

through strategic
structural changes

and meticulous design upgrades.

The theme we were going
for on this home was whimsical,

but still sophisticated.

We wanted pastels and fun colors,
and the client has a really,

really great collection of art.
So we wanted everything else

to kind of be that
backdrop to let the art shine.

So for this project, we
really started from scratch.

It was the floors were replaced.

We did a beautiful
checkerboard pattern

in both the entry as
well as the pool bar,

came in with a really solid

neutral hardwood for
the rest of the main level,

and custom drapes,
custom pillows, and

recovered some furniture that
really meant a lot to the family.

So upstairs in the primary
suite, we stuck with the blues.

We came in with
custom drapery as well as

a custom canopy that we
had our local work room make.

And in the bathroom,
we kept it elevated.

Custom cabinets
that were really pretty

shade of baby blue, really
pretty marble -like tile.

We did a picture
rail in the shower, but

the closet is really
just pure magic.

We went with a dusty
rose custom cabinet

that has all the storage
but special details

that really, really
elevate the area.

These are the types of
houses that I'm just happy

that there's a life in them, and
someone's renovating them well.

And it's not like
somebody flipping a house,

and they just put
the cheap cabinets in,

and you know,
they don't take care.

But when they're buying
it as their forever home,

and they want it done
right, and they want

it to be great, and they want
to share it with their friends and

family and host parties,
and just enjoy the house.

I think that's my favorite.

We did some sit testing earlier.

So ultimately I can't move
a lot in the sitting position,

so I'm just gonna be
sitting like this. Oh, yes.

I actually probably
am gonna be like this.

This is my first
Vogue World, so I'm

very excited. I feel like I'm
possibly showing up to the best

Vogue World thus
far, not that, you know,

it's a competition or
anything, but I think this one's

gonna be iconic. Jared and I
are so excited about this look.

It's Rick Owens. Jared, come
over. We need to discuss.

Like literally when I get to
wear something, it's like Jared

gets to wear it because
we're so in it together in a way.

It's fun. I feel like we spend
a lot of years building up

to doing things that are like
for the fashion community,

and this one feels very
fashion. -This is one of

my favorite looks I've ever
worn. I say that about every look.

The Rick Owens team was
so generous to let me wear it.

Sort of encapsulates what I've
been trying to do with fashion

as I'm growing up. A little
bit like a bit more minimal,

a bit more mature. It is also
risky too, which, you know, I like

to do because I
tend to use fashion

in a more like utilitarian way,
like I'm a bit more functional.

I don't know, like when it comes
to going to fashion shows or

fashion events, I'm excited to
sort of be a character in a way.

This is Davide, he's doing hair
and we are snatching her head.

Sophia on makeup.

And this is Emma who
is focusing on the snatch.

You know when you put your
hair up and it just sort of like

just kind of, I don't know,
it makes your face feel

kind of like lifted in a way.
Sometimes you want that,

but you want your
hair to be down.

And in fashion land,
you do the little braids

and you tie them back. And
is it a little bit painful? Yes.

I don't know. There's just
something about Vogue World

in Paris. It just feels
like a great time to let

the look shine and
just do like really,

you know, beautiful
natural skin and just

snatch the face with the braid
and let that do all the work.

This is, this is fashion, baby.

So Vogue World, what
is it you might be asking

yourself at home? It's
very inspired by culture.

You know, the culture
of where the event is

being held, like for example,
this Vogue World is in Paris.

From what I've heard, there's
going to be a focus on sports.

Why? Because the Olympics
are happening here this year.

In fact, I'm, I might be going to
the Olympics to watch, obviously.

I imagine I'm like competing
in the Olympics, but also

celebrating 100 years
of fashion in Paris.

Obviously Paris is one
of the most, if not the most

fashionable places in the world.

Okay, so as per usual, we're
a little bit fashionably late,

so we need to get going.

Emma's much shorter than
a runway model. The top,

there was no alterations.
The skirt made it a bit shorter.

That's it. -It's like it's risky
and it's fun. And I think

Jared and I are in a
place in our fashion journey

where we're excited about

doing stuff that we haven't
done yet, but also taking a risk.

You know, and the glam
team brought the face

together in such a beautiful
way and we have to go.

We're going to do our
final little touches, put a little

tape here, a little tape
there. Oh, we're going

to take a little picture
because Instagram eats first.

And then we'll

Sometimes I get a facial.

This time I did not. I did
like a little at-home facial.

I sometimes get
massages because I feel

like it helps with,
especially when I'm traveling,

inflammation in the body, like
just get all the inflammation out.

I've gotten to work with Vogue in
so many different beautiful ways.

And so I feel like so proud
and excited every time I get to

attend one of these, you
know, phenomenal events.

And it also just like,
it's always a very

humbling experience for
me because I never thought

every single time I get to
attend an event like this.

I'm like, this is not
something I ever imagined.

So it's always
very special to me.
