family whilst I was in prison,

and they agreed to meet with me.

We had two meetings. The
prison minister sat with us.

It was a very difficult
but moving experience.

done a lot of research

into the impact such
meetings can have on both

the criminal and
the victim's family,

and everything I've
found suggests that

great healing can come

when criminals
personally confront

the pain they have caused.

but do you think you
deserve to be forgiven?

Nothing can bring
back the woman I killed.

I was guilty.

But understanding the
depth of emotional pain

my actions caused and being,
well, being able to express

the true remorse
and sorrow that I felt

feel for what I did,

was not only, I hope,
beneficial to her family,

it was also an essential step
forward in my rehabilitation.

So presumably that's the
thinking behind the helpline

that you yourself set up for
