When you're young,

life is just something waiting to be discovered.

Thirty years ago, I took off to see the world.

And those experiences shaped who I am today.

But somehow I never made it to northern Italy.

It's the land of rustic food and high-octane cars,

a place that's always been on my radar.

So, I'm making this journey the best way I know how,

with someone who has lived it.

One of my very first auditions ever,

I think I kill it.

The audition? Yep.

And she goes, "could you do it better,

but could you do it more good-looking,

like Josh from 'lost'?"

And I went "what?"

That's ridiculous.

Yeah. And then I looked you up,

and I was like, "okay, yeah. He's really good-looking.

I never would have gotten that job."

My god, early '90s.

Early '90s I got here.

I had made, like, 600 bucks the night before

in New York as a waiter,

and that's all the money I had.

And that ran out, and in, like, three weeks

I was stealing fruit from fruit stands.

Going to grocery stores and open a yogurt

and drink it and put it back.

Then I'd jump all the turnstiles.

I never had money for a ticket.

So, the carabinieri got me, like had me held.

But it was, like, it was amazing

because you're 18.

Yeah. You're like, "whatever."

And then I met this girl that I ended up dating,

which you'll meet her brother.

Yeah, yeah. Okay. We became close friends.

I would be here starving

and washing my clothes in the bidet.

And they dress me.

I'm, like, driving around in a Volvo, you know?

Going to discos, and then I'd go back,

wash my clothes in the bidet, like, starve, steal fruit.

It was just a complete dichotomy.

Dual personalities. It was crazy.

So, I got to know Italy from them.

But also I hooked up with versace.

We did... I did the first campaign

for younger people. It was called "versus."

And got to know them.

And then we'd hang out with donatella and Paul Beck

and Gianni, actually.

Versace was still alive at that... at that time.

But they kind of saved me a bit,

because that got my career going.

But we were wild. It was wild back then.
