now the next laptop we're about to look

at is gear towards small to medium

businesses it's from lenovo's thinkbook

line it's the thinkbook 16 gen 7 it

brings a lot of features to the table a

nice design a nice 16-in display full HD

Plus touchscreen display it has the U

series processor from the Intel meteor

Lake processor here for 2024 it's

running cool it's running quiet and it's

very efficient when it comes to battery

life it's a nice complete package here

for the small to medium business owner

or the freelancer or the even the

consumer who wants something that won't

break the bank but is a solid Choice

especially in the 16-in category now

I've teamed up with Lenovo and Intel to

bring you this showcase here today now

it has something that's pretty unique

and special here in 2024 and yes that is

upgradeable RAM and upgradeable storage

in fact there's two m.2 SSD slots this

is going to be good for those that want

to be able to expand out storage down

the road and grow with the laptop in

terms of expandability this gives you

the options hey everybody it's Andrew

and this is the Lenovo thinkbook 16 gen

7 here for

20124 coming up now as we're about to

take a look at the specs and the pricing

before we get to the unit itself I just

want to let everyone know that I've

partnered with Intel and Lenovo to bring

you this showcase here today and they

just want to be be clear that since this

is a sponsored video from Lenovo and

Intel I will not be calling this a

review that being said I still give you

all the necessary information you need

to make an informed purchase decision as

I always do I'm just not going to call

this a review and I will not give it a

score but I will give you all the

information you need as always so just

keep that in mind and as far as pricing

is concerned you're looking at a

starting price of

$869 42 over at lenovo's website price

has configured here today

$1,772 again for those interested check

you know the drill folks let's get this

out of the

box you get your power cord and you get

a 65 wat USB typ-c adapter pretty

Compact and there it is okay looks

pretty nice looks pretty solid you can

see here not too much give or Flex on

the lid there there's the

underside this feels like plastic the

underside feels like plastic and there

you can see some vents for the heating

I'm not too upset about the plastic on

the bottom because that's going to keep

things pretty cool hopefully and then

this is metal this is definitely metal

on the deck here and you can see very

little Flex there so let's see if we can

open with one

finger uh not quite so it's got a nice

stiff hinge got a nice keyboard here you

can see it there numeric keypad right

there so it's a pretty nice looking

layout there as you can see it uh what

it does though having the numpad it does

move the touchpad off center a bit now

you can see some Ultra 7 branding there

Intel graphics on here uh pretty nice

overall look so this is the Intel Core

Ultra on this one we're going to delve

more into that processor we've seen a

number of meteor Lake processors here so

good to see it here on this unit of

course and then the keyboard looks

pretty good again feels good let's give

it a list

in so with just the unit alone you're

looking at

1795 kg and that is 3 lb 15.3 Oz and

with the power cord and the power

charger

2.85 kg and that is 4 lb 9.5 Oz that is

the total travel weight okay let's check

out the port selection on the left side

is a USB type-c 3.2 Gen 2 Port full

function USB type a HDMI 2.1 and another

USB type-c but this one is Thunderbolt 4

and then you get a 3.5 mm microphone

headphone combo Jack now moving over to

the right side you get a full-size SD

card reader a second USB type a port an

RJ45 ethernet port and a Kensington lock

port to round it out and all in all I

would say a very good Port selection now

to get inside this laptop it's actually

pretty easy there are nine philps head

screws remove them use a spudger guitar

pick or priel to pry off the bottom

plate and you're in it's that simple and

there's good news when it comes to

maintenance and user upgrade ability two

Sodom slots here although one is being

used here you will get better

performance if you have both slots being

used so it run in dual Channel mode and

you can go up to 32 GB of ddr5 5600 MHz

memory here and of course my unit has 16

gbt but I would add a second 16 GB stick

to get dual Channel performance that

would give you a little bit of an

increase there that'll be good and as

far as the SSD there are actually two

m.2 SSD slots and as you can see from

the reads and rights certainly fast

enough what you need this laptop to do

so no issue with that and I love having

two slot here to expand out storage

always a great thing here and a rarity

now in 2024 so as far as upgradability

really good and I will also say the

Wi-Fi card the Bluetooth combo card here

is slotted in it's not soldered in now

one downside of course it is Wi-Fi 6 not

the more Modern Standard of Wi-Fi 7 or

even Wi-Fi 6E that would have been great

but it is slotted in so if you want to

change it out yourself you always have

that option which is always good now

when it comes to the display the one

they sent over is an IPS display 16 in

1920x 1200 that's a full HD Plus

resolution with a 16 to 10 aspic ratio

it has an anti-glare coating on it which

actually works really well I didn't

notice a lot of glare a lot of

reflection so that has been pretty good

especially you want to be productive you

want to get worked on and say Microsoft

Office email and even web browsing

watching movies it wasn't much of a

distraction that's good now I wouldn't

do too much content creation on here of

course there's no discret GPU and the

other thing I would say is it doesn't

have the greatest coverage of the color

gamut for those type of things but for

everyday tasks it certainly is very good

certainly color accurate and you get

some deep blacks you get good contrast

overall I would say watching movies on

this has been really good so no

complaints on that front and I like the

option here for the touch navigating the

US with your finger pinch to zoom

everything worked really well now for

those that don't care for touch there is

a model that's non-touch that you can

get also full HD Plus but I think it's

worth going with the Touch model here

especially if you do Lightroom Photoshop

you can manipulate the photos with your

finger pinch to zoom always works out

really well nice convenience feature I

don't think it's a must have but I think

it's a good thing to have why not go for

it in my opinion but that's just me now

as far as there's no OLED option or

anything like that there's no 4K plus

option at least that I know of but it

does have a nice full h plus here and it

does get the job done overall pretty

nice display here especially for the

price point so this is the camera on the

Lenovo thinkbook 16 gen 7 here for 2024

a 1080p IR camera so that means you can

log in with face recognition with

Windows hello there is a shutter switch

a physical slider above the camera for

more security and privacy you got to

like that what do you think about the

video quality and what do you think

about the audio quality of the internal

mics let me know in that comment section

below okay let's talk about performance

and this is running the Intel Core Ultra

7

155u now this is a very efficient

processor more so than the eight series

that we've seen on that midor Lake

processor here in 2024 but we're seeing

very good single core very good

multi-core now for everyday tests such

as Microsoft Office email web browsing

everything very Snappy very fluid there

were no hiccups at all very good in that

regard it also will be very efficient

and it will remain pretty cool and quiet

actually so that's been pretty good now

the graphics here are integrated Intel

Graphics not the arc graphics that you'd

get with the 8 series that's a little

bit more advanced that's going to be a

little bit more powerful but if you

stick to 1080p video editing you're

going to be fine as far as gaming some

of the older titles play with the

settings you'll get some playable frame

rates I wouldn't look at this as a AAA

title Powerhouse here so just keep your

expectations in check although you can

add an external GPU thanks to the

Thunderbolt 4 port on this but I would

say stick to the basics on this you're

going to be doing really fine now when I

ran the time by stress test to see if

this will thermal throttle under heavy

load it got a passing score of

98.5% meaning it detected virtually no

thermal throttling under load and that's

good and when you're running this under

heavy load the surface temperature is

never really heated up all that much

especially where you place your fingers

on the keyboard staying cool throughout

and that's something we like to see so

The Thermals here as far as the surface

temperatures are very good when you look

at the underside yeah got a little bit

warm there about 47 48° cus but nothing

to be concerned about staying relatively

cool throughout now the fan noise on

here is some of the lowest I've ever

seen on a 16-in laptop here check this

out never going above say 38 39 DB which

is not that audible in in reality when

you're doing everyday Tas the fans were

not an issue at all here so fan noise

you're not going to have to contend with

and that's a good thing here now this

Sports a 45w battery and you'll notice

that there's space for a higher capacity

battery there and that's because they do

offer this in a bigger 71w hour variant

now I have the 45w hour one here and as

you can see from the PC Mark 10 modern

office test battery result here it did

actually pretty decent it got 7 hours

and 58 minutes and on the video playback

it did just shy of 10 hours that's

pretty good for a Smalls siiz battery

expect better battery life if you go

with the larger 71w battery okay let's

talk about the keyboard and this has a

really good one the smile shaped Keys We

we know from the thinkbook line here is

here and the tactility the overall

feedback is very good comfortable for

typing out long documents emails and the

like you never feel like your fingers

are going to bottom out very comfortable

for that typing and it also has a

numeric keypad here that's going to be

great for the number crunches it does

move the touchpad off centered but it is

pretty easy to get used to pretty easy

to get acclimated after a few hours of

so not an issue there for me and it does

have a multi-stage backlight that allows

you to get work done in a dark room or a

dimly lit environment that worked well

now it has a nicely sized touchpad here

as far as the scrolling and doing all

the gestures everything seemed to be

responsive it's not a haptic touch pad

or anything like that but it does get

the job done and it was very responsive

overall now this has Dolby audio along

with some pretty decent speakers on here

volume was decent mids were good the

overall base I would say is Pretty good

overall pretty decent sound but of

course you be the judge you let me know

okay let's bring it all home the think

book 16 gen 7 here for 2024 is an

excellent choice if you're looking to

roll these out in a small to medium

business I think in that environment

this is going to do really well it's got

a good price to Performance ratio it's

got good efficiency with the U series

processor it's going to get work done in

Microsoft Office email web browsing it's

got plenty of ports it's got a nice full

HD Plus display that's a touchcreen

option as well it's got an excellent

keyboard I love the upgrade ability here

two SSD slots you got two sodum slots so

a lot of expandability options there

solid performance it runs cool and quiet

the negatives there's no 4K olet option

but for the audience that this is geared

towards it's not going to be a big deal

limited coverage of the color gamut I

wouldn't be doing any highend 4K video

editing on this there's no discret GPU

at least to the version I have and the

display could be a little a little bit

brighter although over 300 nits is

certainly adequate for an office

environment but my overall takeaway is

this is a solid choice if you're a small

to medium business looking to buy these

in numbers and to roll these out in your

Fleet for that this is going to be a

very good choice indeed so please hit
