she's taking on a new role as builder and designer.

[Mandy] Celina is a nanny, a chef,

a surrogate parent, a house manager.

I mean, she literally does everything and anything.

and Mandy knows the backyard is Celina's favorite spot.

I feel like an outdoor kitchen would be incredible.

[Mandy] It was a real challenge

when I got cast on the show,

and I had no idea that the show

was gonna, sort of, play in time.

I read the second episode and I was like, "Oh, okay.

So we're jumping in time eight years

and we're jumping ahead to the present day,

and I'm also gonna play the 65-year-old mother

-to these, you know, 35-year-old children?" -Yeah.

That was a terrifying prospect.

[Jonathan] Now every offer that comes out to you is,

"We've got a great role for a 68-year-old."

-Yeah, exactly. -[Drew] Yeah. Yeah.

-She's a young 70... -Yeah.

-I can't... Yeah. -It's you or Jane Fonda.

-We just haven't decided who's gonna play it best. -Exactly!

Oh, man.

So I met Celina when I was 15,

when I was first starting out in the business,

then I moved to Los Angeles.

She worked with a manager of mine.

So I would see her coming and going as a young person

and then we didn't sort of really enter each other's lives

for real until 2009.

So it's been like, you know, almost 15 years

that we've known each other

and I see her just about every day,

and she has become closer than family.

She has seen me through, like, every ebb and flow

of my life in career,

and, yeah, she's just been a sort of constant in my life.

I love her deeply. I will do anything for her.

This is someone who's not used to people taking care of her,

so the fact that I can be a part

of giving this back to her means everything.

[upbeat music playing]

Do you think you know what esthetics Celina would love?

I do.

Um, I personally love design.

Um, I love working on our own homes and so...

Yeah. And I think Celina trusts my eye and my taste.

[Drew] So she knows nothing, right?

[Mandy] Celina really has no idea what's going on.

Andrea, her daughter, has, kind of, been roped in

to help keep this surprise for all us.

So she's aware.

[Drew] All right. Which house is it?

-I think it's right up here. -Okay.

[Jonathan] Don't park too, close. Yeah.

-[Mandy] Yeah. We wanted this to be a surprise. -[Drew] Sneaky.

[Drew] This is it.

Okay. So I'm just gonna text Andrea right now

that we're gonna go around the back.

I know Celina so well

that I know how much she talks about her backyard

and specifically how much of a gathering place it is

for her and her family.

-[Drew] Hello! [laughs] -[Mandy] Hey!

-How are you? How are you? -[Jonathan] That was like...

[Mandy] This is Andrea. This is Celina's daughter.

Nice to meet you.

-[Mandy] How are you? -I'm good.

[Drew] So this is the space?

This is the secret space that we're talking about, right?

[Jonathan] Um, does your mom know anything, by the way?

-Nothing? -No.

-Okay. -She's completely clueless.

-[Mandy] She's in the dark. -She's in the dark, yeah.

How does your mom use the backyard?

Does she just kick out here, grab a drink from the fridge?

Yeah. So it'll be like the weekend.

Dad would be on the grill,

my aunt would be playing music,

and everyone would just be talking,

the dogs are running around.

And then, me and my brother will come over

and it'll just be a party.

-Does anyone ever do this? -No, don't.

When we're kids, he used to always flip me in the hammock.

[Jonathan] Why don't you bring your mom out?

[Drew] Bring her here, we'll hide behind the AC unit.

[laughter]

[Mandy] Distilling down who Celina is

and what she adds to my life,

what she means to me is challenging.

Celina is a nanny, a chef,

a surrogate parent, a house manager.

I mean, she literally does everything

and anything in our lives.

I feel like I wouldn't be able to get through

a single day without her.

And I think since becoming a parent,

watching her with the boys specifically,

it's made me fall in love with her even more.

She's just one of the most,

like, devout, loving people I've ever met.

I'm so grateful for everything

she allows us to do

and just the tremendous value

as a human and a loving force

that she brings into our world.

It's weekend, she wasn't expecting me in her home.

I love your backyard.

But I know this is something you really wanna work on, right?

You wanna create a space that your family can come

and hang out here, right?

This is our, um, area.

I wanna help you fix this up

but I can't really do this all by myself

so I brought some friends with me.

-So these guys... -[Jonathan] Nice to meet you.

[Mandy] completely transform this space

for you and your family, Celina.

It was, like, kind of pinching myself, like, is this real?

Am I dreaming?

What does it mean to you

when you know that Mandy considers you like family?

And she said the first person who came to mind,

the only person who came to mind

that she would wanna do this for was you.

My life changed when I meet Mandy.

She's an angel.

I'm from El Salvador.

I came, you know, when I was 17

with $20 in my pocket with no future.

My life is, like, up and down

and, um, and she's always been there for me.

She always guide me and made me strong.

You're incredible strong, Celina.

You do not give yourself enough credit.

You have gone through a lot in your life

and you always come out on top.

Cece, you know you're everything.

We just couldn't survive without you.

It takes a village and we are the luckiest

to have you, sort of, leading our village.

-I mean-- -I'm the lucky one.

[Mandy] No, no. You're the surrogate mom for me,

for Taylor, for Gus, and Ozzy.

And I feel so grateful to have this opportunity,

to be able to give you back a little bit

of what you give to us.

You don't have to cry.

I'm so grateful for this chance

and this opportunity to really encompass

my love and gratitude for Celina.

Celina likes clean, she likes sort of neutral.

So I feel like if we could give her...

You keep saying zen, but that's what pops in my head,

like something really zen back here that feels like an oasis?

The space just needs to be upgraded.

I just... I feel... We need to elevate it.

We need to, sort of, bring in elements

that really mean something to them.

It's really dark back here, too.

[Jonathan] It's super dark.

Because of the pitch they've got it on, it comes so low.

You wanna start... Like, what do we have?

Oh, wow.

The ledger board is pulling away from the structure.

As soon as I walked around into the backyard,

I could see that this overhang was not permitted.

The materials are not gonna stand up.

It's so heavy because it looks like it's built with dimensional lumber

and then has asphalt shingles on top.

So all that weight is just resting on these posts

but slowly is pulling away from the house.

Maybe the only thing saving it is the chimney here

because it looks like it's built around the chimney.

Yeah, this is definitely not legal.

So we would wanna pull this down

and make sure that everything is done properly.

Right now, they only have a dining table out here

and then they have that old barbecue.

Are you thinking...

I feel like an outdoor kitchen would be incredible.

It's something where we could incorporate a smoker

or some sort of grill, like, in the outdoor kitchen space?

And then like a beautiful place for them to dine

and maybe, like, maybe a seating area

-if there's space for it. -Yeah.

Do they need a second fridge? Like, is this...

Oh, it's not... There's nothing in it. Yeah.

So if they don't need it, then, yeah, it should go.

I think if we can relocate the air conditioning,

get rid of the fridge,

it would free up so much space.

-I love these fruit trees... -Yeah.

[Mandy] and I think she said her dad

planted all of these back here.

So if we could leave that

and incorporate that into the design,

I think she'd really like that.

Do we want a hammock in the final design?

[Mandy] No, no hammock.

I think we should need to have a full lounging area.

-Yeah. -If we could move the air conditioner,

we could have a full lounging area,

outdoor dining area.

We gotta put an outdoor kitchen, then.

An outdoor kitchen, like, maybe somewhere along that wall there?

-If it could work. -That would be you, designer.

[laughs]

[Jonathan] My only concern is it's tight here,

right in this walkway here

because we'd have to have a post

probably in about the same position.

So figuring out how big we want it to be...

Like how deep it could be?

[Jonathan] Yeah. How deep it needs to be,

how wide it needs to be,

and also what do we wanna put in it?

Do we want a grille, do we want a smoker?

We can do a fridge, we can put all kinds of stuff in it.

We can even maybe wrap around

and have something that incorporates the post

so it almost feels purposeful?

Mmm-hmm. I like that.

[Jonathan] I do have a question.

The wall, what do you think about doing some sort of cladding?

[Mandy] Oh, that'd be gorgeous.

The block wall never looks super inviting.

No, it's not appealing.

If we could do that, I'd love it.

What about the flooring?

Is this something that we would have to break up?

-[Jonathan] Yes. -[Drew] Well, it's very uneven

because you have a slab over here

and it looks like they've poured a bunch of different times,

and then they have all the pavers.

We could sand it to look like it's pavers,

-like, or tile. -Oh, cool.

-[Jonathan] Oh, yeah. -I love that.

I actually love how Mandy's been thinking

about all of these things.

She's already thought about all of these different ideas

while incorporating to the design.

To start, we'll remove the old patio roof,

pavers, and concrete, and add a new concrete patio

with a striking pattern etched into the surface

to give it the wow factor it deserves.

The new patio will feature three distinct zones.

Zone one, a stylish, state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen,

dolomite counters, matching slab backsplash,

a fridge, and a six-burner grill

will give Celina everything she needs

to wow her guests at weekend barbecues.

Zone two, a luxe lounge area

centered by a chic fire table

and cozy chairs that will offer Celina,

her family, and guests a place to kick back and relax.

And zone three, a dining area that will feel

like they brought the inside outside.

Perfect for Celina's large family gatherings.

The garden area needs a more Zen-like backdrop,

so we'll cover the cinder block wall

in composite planks installed in contemporary horizontal lines.

The new flower beds include Celina's beloved fruit trees

and low maintenance plants.

Finally, the centerpiece of the design,

a metal pergola featuring remote-controlled louvers

to spoil Celina and her guests

with the choice of sun or shade

at the push of a button.

Timeline, it looks like a small space,

but there's structure that we have to do.

There's a lot of concrete work.

There's a whole outdoor kitchen.

So we probably are gonna need...

Can you do it in three weeks?

-[Drew laughs] -Come on.

I know you guys are magic.

Three weeks.

Well, the real story is that Mandy is back filming

in three weeks and so she wants to surprise Celina

before she goes back on location.

Well, we can jump in because there's not much to prep for out here.

Why don't we meet back here tomorrow,

I'll bring all the tools and we will dive in

and pull out and wreck as much as we can.

[Drew] Don't wear your fancy sweaters

because it's gonna get dirty and it's gonna get hot.

-It is gonna be hot and dirty. -Great. Let's do it.

There's no better feeling

than being in this position and being able to give back

to someone who truly deserves it.

But the best part hasn't even happened yet.

-Uh, how far can I-- -A little, a little more.

Get right to the edge of the board.

Wow. You think the unit itself is dirty?

Uh, what are you good with doing a little jackhammering as well,

-because we can-- -Sure.

I've never done it, but I'm down.

[Jonathan] It's like the sword and the stone.

-Ooh, it's heavy. -[Jonathan] Jackhammer begins.

You wanna go down a little bit.

Good. And now push down.

You're gonna basically tee it up.

There you go.

I've never been a part of any sort of demolition before.

I'm excited to get my hands dirty.

We're just gonna push on it. Like that. Boom.

So you can use it not only to break but to pry.

Oh, they didn't even pour under here.

They're just... They just poured a border.

This is all sand.

[Mandy] Wow.

So really, it's just breaking up this border?

-Yeah. -[machine whirring]

[Mandy] I wanna get things right.

So part of my personality,

I'm like, "I wanna be shown the proper way to do something."

[machine whirring]

[Mandy] They're great teachers.

They were patient enough to show me the ropes.

[Jonathan] Why don't we do this?

This is coming up so much easier

than I was anticipating.

Why don't I keep going with this, if you guys can go up

and start ripping the asphalt shingles off?

-[Drew] Absolutely. -Let's do it.

Have you been on a roof before?

-I have. -[Jonathan] Oh, really?

I've never been a part of any sort of demolition before.

Slide underneath.

You wanna slide the teeth under and then pull it up.

I told the brothers like, "I'm ready to join the crew

and just come along with you

to every project moving forward."

Great. Oh, see it's...

It comes up pretty easy.

[Mandy] Oh, it's hard to get the scrape in.

Yeah. Slide a little like... Just get the teeth just above

and then just slide right like that.

Then get under and then go down.

Got it. Okay.

There is a catharsis to doing that sort of work

where you're just like, "Okay, let me get in there.

Let me start, like, ripping these shingles off."

There's no slowing you down.

[Mandy] If I can rip, I'm good.

[Drew] This is the kind of renovation that I like

because the demolition's easy.

The concrete, the pavers came up easy.

In a matter of 15, 20 minutes we have the whole roof area done.

Oh, wow. Yeah.

This all just comes apart so easily now.

[Drew] But for the roof structure itself,

we need to bring in the full crew to bring it down safely.

I know the timeline is pretty tight,

but I have the utmost faith in the brothers

that they're going to be able to deliver.

And pack in the landscaping,

the outdoor kitchen,

the dining area, the lounge area.

I believe we are gonna be able to do it.

[upbeat music playing]

[Jonathan] With the demo done,

we've started work on the new concrete patio

and I think concrete is the perfect solution here

compared to stone or wood decking.

It's gonna last a lot longer

and it needs pretty much no maintenance.

And when it's fully dry,

we'll etch a pattern into the surface of the concrete

just to elevate the entire look.

You had some amazing ideas.

I love how you just went through

like a boss and you're like,

"I've already been thinking about this.

We want pergolas and outdoor kitchens,

and move air conditioners."

Why don't you take over.

I'm retiring. You're the designer.

What do you envision with the space?

What do I envision with this space?

Well, I mean, I was kind of feeling like we were chatting

-about this potentially being the outdoor kitchen area -Yes.

and maybe this is lounge zone, dining zone.

Yes. So the challenge we're having here,

which I'm trying to figure out, in order to maximize

the size of the pergola,

we only have about five feet of clearance

-between the wall in here. -[Mandy] Oh, wow.

And our outdoor kitchen would be 30 inches deep.

Got it.

So it would be a little tight.

Drew had mentioned potentially wrapping the--

-Doing sort of a return there. -[Jonathan] Yeah, to here.

So I drew it and it's an option

and you'd have a little bit more counter space.

[Mandy] But this version has the smoker.

[Jonathan] Exactly. Which I feel like...

I feel like that's gonna be more important to them

than having that extra little bit of counter space there.

Especially knowing that they love to cook.

Carlos, Celina's husband, he loves to cook

and he especially loves his slow cooker.

So I thought it was important to make sure that was a part

of what we implemented in the kitchen design as well.

[Jonathan] If we did that over here,

it still would be kind of tight in this area.

What would this clearance be?

[Jonathan] Our two pinch points are gonna be here and here.

[Mandy] Mmm-hmm.

[Jonathan] So in an ideal world,

I would have the outdoor kitchen come, kind of, like this

to about here. Something like that.

[Mandy] Mmm-hmm.

If we can get everything that we need in this space,

which I feel like we can,

then this gives us enough clearance

between these areas here.

What would you wanna do for the cover

'cause we can do, you know, a dry stack look,

we can do just stucco, we can do different colors?

Oh, I think she would love this, sort of, stacked stone.

-Okay. -I think that's elegant but it also is, sort of, zen.

It's neutral enough but, like, it has enough,

like, texture that...

I think it kind of keeps it interesting for the eye.

Because I think that's what's lacking in a backyard space.

Yeah.

You don't have a lot of texture.

You don't have a lot of stuff breaking it up.

So I think something like that would be really nice.

Yeah, I agree.

Because I know I can get the dolomite

for the surface of the countertop

I think would be nice, 'cause it'll brighten it up.

-And this is a real stone. -Wow.

-[Jonathan] So I think-- -But very durable for outside?

[Jonathan] Yeah. This will be nice.

This is going a lot faster and a lot easier

-than I was anticipating. -Oh, good.

[Jonathan] What do you think for back here?

Because it doesn't get a lot of sun back there,

we cannot do, like, a regular grass

'cause it just... It'll die.

So if we do something that's really hardy,

the Mondo grass here, you can even do rosemary ground cover.

-Wow. -All of this will be a lot hardier.

I would probably say maybe the Mondo.

It looks really beautiful when it's in.

It almost looks like a blanket on the ground.

-And... -Ooh. I love that.

You were also talking about potentially,

like, cladding the wall there.

Yeah. So, I feel like if we break it up

-and do something like this. -[Mandy] Mmm-hmm.

[Jonathan] This is a little bit more modern.

This is a little bit more classic.

-I like the classic. -Yeah.

I think the classic is perfect for them.

For the pergola, what color are you thinking?

Because we can either go nice and modern with the black.

If we're gonna stay in, sort of, the warm,

more traditional family, I feel like maybe the bronze.

-[Jonathan] The bronze? Yeah. -[Mandy] Yeah.

[Jonathan] This would be nice.

Oh, that's really gorgeous.

-So, hey, you start to see... -[Mandy] All of that together.

[Jonathan] the whole story play and...

I think Celina is going to love it.

I can, sort of, gauge what her taste, sort of, lean towards

and I feel like we really nailed it.

[Jonathan] It is the end of week one

and we've started prepping the cinder block wall

for the new composite planks

that will be a much better backdrop for the garden.

At the same time, we've started to build

the new metal pergola.

It's much higher than the old roof

and it has a louver top that allows light

to stream into the house a patio below.

We're also working as fast as we can now

because the weather forecast calls for some pretty epic rain ahead.

As predicted, the rain has been pouring nonstop.

Work has been shut down for days

and it's supposed to keep raining

for the remainder of the build schedule.

[Drew] All right. There is no stopping us.

Rain, shine, wind.

[Jonathan] Mandy needs to be back on her set

the day after we're scheduled to finish.

So hitting the brakes until the rain clears

is not an option.

We tried to start and then obviously the rain, kind of, stopped us down,

but, you know, it's going to... There's no stopping now.

-We just gotta keep going. -We have a timeline, guys.

Yeah. This rain is really unheard of for Los Angeles.

We're a bit unlucky.

I'm really determined to stay on track.

-It's called an atmosphere-- -[Drew] Atmospheric river.

-[Mandy] True. -I say before the river comes,

why don't we actually try to get the rest of the pergola?

You... If you guys do one side, you guys do this side,

-I'll do that side. -Great.

[Drew] And we'll see who finishes first.

If you wanna grab that side, I'll pass them to you

and we're just gonna start putting them in the slots one at a time.

How's it feel to be a part of creating...

-[Mandy laughs] -something new and exciting for them?

[Mandy] I love this.

I'm glad we went with the bronze over, like,

the traditional sort of powdered black.

It just feels that much warmer.

I never imagined I'd be in her backyard

helping put up a pergola.

-Dude. -[Mandy] This is the most incredibly powerful way

to say thank you to someone.

Wow.

-[Jonathan] Yeah. -Amazing.

I love the fact that obviously those slats move

and we'll be able to give her shade

or sun, like, whatever she wants.

She'll be able to control it from her smartphone,

which is also a really cool feature.

[Jonathan] And this is... Like, not all pergolas are built the same too,

the fact that this has a gutter system built into it

that you don't even see from below.

-Yeah. -Sometimes the downside of a pergola is

if it's a regular wood pergola,

as soon as it rains, can't use it.

With this, rain or shine,

you can use it no problem.

[Mandy] Uh, Drew?

[Drew] Yes.

I think you made a little bit of a mistake there.

-You put it on the wrong peg. -[Jonathan] Ha!

No. What?

[Drew] I'm perfect. What are you talking about?

[Drew] So once we get all the track up, there's a...

There's a little component we added at the end

that actually makes it powered.

-So we have to hook that all up... -Oh, great.

-and then this is gonna be a-- -Actually, if you guys wanna prep on that,

[Drew] It's the end of our second week,

and for a few hours

we're getting a break from the rain.

So we're taking full advantage

of our semi-dry conditions

to work on the concrete patio.

[Jonathan] We're applying an acid to the surface

of some of the squares to give them a rougher texture

that will contrast the smooth squares,

giving this patio a fashionable

checkerboard effect.

[upbeat music playing]

[Jonathan] Yeah. Luckily this process is quick-dry

because as predicted, the rain has returned.

So we've closed the pergola louvers

just to keep both the concrete and Mandy dry

while we tackle the wall cladding.

Oh, it's so mucky over here.

I love how somehow I got you guys

-working in the rain. -[Drew] [laughs] Yeah.

[Mandy] And I'm shaded under the pergola.

[Drew] I thought if I was under the tree

it would be less rain, but in reality,

we have a lot more drippage coming off the tree.

[Mandy] I do have a question.

Why did you guys paint the cinder box black?

[Jonathan] Interesting you asked that

because if you've ever seen someone do a slat wall,

like, inside or anywhere,

because there's a little space between the boards,

if you leave it white or gray,

if the light hits it just right,

you can see that and it looks weird.

-It looks unfinished. -Got it.

By painting it black, it disappears

and just blends into the grain.

-Yeah. -Okay, guys.

I'm gonna use this saw which is a little...

-[Jonathan] You're good over there? -terrifying to me.

Just hold it in place so the board doesn't move

-once you line it up. -Okay.

So what are we doing right now?

Because the kitchen we put together...

we're gonna build a backsplash.

So this is the frame for the backsplash.

Then we'll take our stone all the way up

and create that shelf we, kind of, talked about.

Yes. And we're taking pretty much everything

that you would have in an indoor kitchen

-and bringing it outside. -[Jonathan] Yeah.

While we do that, Drew is in the back,

finishing the kitchen cabinet assembly.

[Mandy] Using the angle grinder

was definitely one of the harder things

I've been asked to do on this project.

It was terrifying seeing the sparks fly

and making sure that I was cutting it

at the right angle.

[Jonathan] Smile while you're doing it.

[Mandy] I'm learning as I go.

But it's fun.

And you feel accomplished.

-I did it. -[Jonathan] You did it. See?

This project is starting to feel real now.

I can see all of the moving parts

sort of coalescing and, like, coming together

to create this, like, beautiful outdoor experience for her.

And it's, um, it's really special.

Careful. It's a little muddy right here.

-[Jonathan] Yes. -Oh, here we go.

Look at you hardcore. Not even wearing a raincoat.

I built myself a nice little home.

We're just a little higher than I think we should be,

'cause I didn't want it to go above the plain fence

'cause we still have the stone going on top.

So my thought is I might cut

a little bit more off our supports.

We'll take it down just a hair,

and then everything should line up nicely.

-This looks great. -[Mandy] That'd be great.

Call me crazy. I know it's raining,

but should we do a dry fit of the appliances

to make sure everything fits okay?

That would be the wettest dry fit ever done.

-[laughter] -It's so bad.

I think Celina's gonna be bowled over

by every bit of design

that this kitchen is integrating.

It's so elegant.

[Jonathan] These are so cool.

Wow, this is such a major upgrade

-from the smoker they had. -[Jonathan] Right.

And can I just say like having the AC unit

not here anymore, we relocated it,

it just feels so much more open here.

Space for them to congregate,

to hang out, to celebrate, to relax.

To crank the tunes.

-[Drew] Absolutely. -[Mandy] Bingo.

I feel like we need to incorporate

some sort of musical element if possible,

like some sort of speaker system

-or a record player or something... -Yeah.

because music is a really important part of,

like, their... When they gather.

Celina loves records and her record player.

She has one inside in the collection of vinyl that she cherishes,

so to create a way to bring the record player

safely outside will blow her away.

Yeah, I know, absolutely.

I mean, we can... We can have speakers out here.

I mean, if we did build something

even if it was up against the house right here...

-Yeah. -[Drew] I mean this will protect...

If it is raining, we can make sure that this closed,

but also something that can take a little bit of weather and heat too.

What Celina does for my family,

I cannot put into words,

and so the fact that I can be a tiny part

in giving something like this back to her,

this gift, I just...

Like I daydream about

how they're gonna use this space.

I got on the ladder in the rain.

thankfully we have nothing but sun in the forecast

which we desperately need to get this job done on time.

[Jonathan] At the house, we're painting up

the brick chimney both down below and up top

so it better blends with the new design,

and the break in weather means

that the dolomite countertop

is finally getting installed in the upper kitchen.

[Jonathan] Meanwhile, I'm checking on the progress

of the stereo console that Mandy wants

for Celina and her family.

[Dave] Yeah, we'll just adjust it

-and then at one end-- -[Drew] Whoa, whoa.

Oh, hey.

Is this the piece?

Oh, my God.

We got a little jumpstart.

[Drew] Dave and Zack build incredible custom furniture.

I already sent them sketches of what we're looking for

but I wasn't expecting this much progress so fast.

I love this, how you already fabricating it

because I thought I would bring the record player,

you can see the beautiful wood tone with--

That's so cool.

[Drew] I brought some records too by the way.

I, kind of, figured maybe we can look at

how we would position the records

next to the record player.

The new stereo console will feature

sleek midcentury modern lines,

a hidden compartment that house a turntable and speakers,

plus base for TV.

I love the low-profile front.

I think this is absolutely gorgeous.

It has that midcentury-modern vibe to it.

The one concern I do have,

what are we gonna do for weather rating?

[Dave] White oak is really good outdoors as it is,

so we can do either an oil finish

which, kind of, goes with that midcentury feel,

also outdoor-rated which holds up really well.

Or there's a three-part clear coat

that's outdoor-rated but it doesn't have that

warm wood feel that stays on the lighter color.

Well, I don't think we wanna keep the lighter color.

I think it's nice to have something a little bit darker.

Not that we have to have that dark,

but can we pull the gold out of there a little bit?

-It's a bit too red. -[Dave] Yeah.

-[Drew] Is that-- -[Dave] Absolutely.

[Drew] Up against the house,

it's gonna send out like a piece of art.

I love the idea of hanging it.

If the record player basically sits

sort of up there,

then the vinyl can all be right here.

Yeah, you would... You would have it like this. Right?

You rifle through like you're at a record store.

-[Dave] Yeah. -Let me put that.

Okay. And if it's this low,

that's gonna recess into the table another few inches,

and that's actually probably a really comfortable height

for even the grandkids.

Is there any more welding you're going to do?

Because I personally love welding

and I see some pieces here that haven't been attached yet.

We have plenty.

[Jonathan] There's been so much activity in the backyard

over the past few days as we scramble to make up lost time,

and Celina has volunteered to go stay

with her daughter, Andrea, until tomorrow

so she wouldn't be tempted to peek.

The mondo grass is going in

as are the kitchen appliances,

and Mandy is here to help us with some final planting.

Did you know that plants gets stressed just like humans?

-Yeah? -And if you jostle it around too much,

it can actually die because it, like, dies

of, like, shock and sadness.

Well, let's not do that to that poor plant.

Give her a chance to thrive back here.

[Drew] Does it feel a little nicer back here than it was before?

I think so. Yeah.

I mean, this is a vast improvement.

I don't even think she's gonna recognize it,

I hardly do.

Celina to me is just this beacon of, like,

someone who's worked hard.

She's the kind of person that doesn't get rewarded

in the way that she deserves.

There's no better feeling

than being in this position and being able to give back

to someone who truly deserves it

Unfortunately, we didn't have space for the hammock, Cece.

I think we replaced it with something better.

[Celina] It's just like I can't imagine, you know,

like, you guys can do something like that,

-The air conditioning unit? -Yes.

So it's tucked around the side over here now.

[Mandy] I think that was the thing

she was most excited about.

Definitely, it's like a big change.

You know, starting from, like, the Pergola.

I think the pergola is my favorite feature.

[Mandy] You have beautiful track lighting here.

You have fans so you'll be nice and cool

when you're sitting outside.

[Jonathan] You just had a solid cover here.

It would keep the inside super dark day and night.

That's why it was so great to have a louver system here

because you crack the louver, and then all of a sudden,

it lets a lot of natural light inside.

Do you want me to show you what it's like

-when we close this completely? -Yes.

-Yeah. -That's all the way open,

and now closes fully.

It actually interlinks with the other louvers

so that no rain gets in at all.

-Boom. -Holy.

[Jonathan] And then same on this side over here,

-so all of a sudden, it'll go. -Oh, my God.

Look at that. That's a lot of light coming in right now.

-Oh. -So much light.

Until it completely closes.

-This is insane, Mandy. -Right?

It's incredible to have all the luxury not just for me,

for the whole family.

You mentioned Carlos has a little speaker

he'll bring out here to bring music.

-But I know you're a musical family. -Yes.

[Drew] So we thought why have one little speaker

when you could have two good-sized speakers?

And we were trying to think of something you could do

that would be stylish.

Obviously, you've got the TV too, which is great.

But the music is so important

and this system is loud.

Everything is all custom-made.

This is meant to be outside.

It's just... It's meant to look like

an indoor piece of furniture.

Again, this came from Mandy too

because when she said how much you guys love music

and that would be great out here.

We cladded the cinder block wall back there,

can become something so beautiful.

This beautiful teak table extends

so you can have more people come, eat, celebrate.

That is weatherproof. It's meant to be outdoor.

I think one thing that will make you happier
