Let's move on to the most prominent award of the year.

It's time to announce the 22nd Zee Cine Awards

for the best film, ladies and gentlemen.

And the winner is...

'Jawan'

Boney asked if he could hold the award.

I said I was used to holding awards.

Am I right?

I take this on behalf of my wife, Gauri,

who is the producer of the film.

And the year, 2023, was quite important

for the Hindi Cinema and all of us.

Because the films were not doing so great.

But then, 'Pathaan' was released. 'Gadar 2' was released.

'Animal' was released. '12th Fail'.

There has been 'Jawan' itself.

So, I think it's very important and it's not competitive

when films do well in India.

It's very important for the Hindi Film Industry

that we all get together,

and create cinema which creates box office history,

as my friend, Atlee, said.

That is the biggest hit

in the history of Indian Cinema, which makes me feel so good.

Because my wife is quite middle-class.

She gets a little upset when she puts in the money

and a film flops.

But Red Chillies has been producing films for 22 years.

So, I want to thank everybody

who has been working at Red Chillies tirelessly

to create this film, 'Jawan'.

And I hope finally, when I go back home,

Gauri will be happy that we made such a huge film.

So, thank you, Zee Cinema.

people chant 'Long Live India' in the neighbouring country,

a middle-aged father becomes a young son,

and a young son fights for his father on a helipad.

The year 2023 has been a year of blockbuster successes

because of our blockbuster directors.

And it's time to crown the captain of the ship, ladies and gentlemen.

And the words are coming true. I can see it in his eyes.

Not through awards. People who see me now say,

'You have given the biggest film to the country.'

I guess I was 21 years old

when he won the first award of his life.

So, I would like to present this award

to one of my closest and dearest friends.

Mr Shah Rukh Khan for 'Jawan'.

I am really grateful to you all and to you, Punit.

I have known Punit for years.

He made me recall the year 1988 when I won my first Zee Cine Award.

He was 21 years old back then.

When I met him for the first time, he was in a pair of nylon shorts.

I have known him since his childhood.

His father and Zee Cine have been a part of all of our lives in India.

So, thank you so much, Zee Cine,

for considering me good enough for this.

First of all, its credit goes to Atlee,

who directed this film. Thank you, Atlee.

I want to thank his lovely wife Priya,

who left her house in the south

and settled in Mumbai four years back.

So much so that their lovely child Meer was also born.

And I always say

that the entire credit for the success of this film

should actually go to Meer.

So, thank you, Atlee.

The whole team that has worked tirelessly for four years

to make this film...

This is very emotional for me.

It has been some time since I have received an award.

It has been around eight-nine years.

And I know... But... - SRK! SRK!

I was receiving a lot of love, but no awards. So, I thought...

This is the first award I have received after years.

My personal team always keeps encouraging me.

Even today, I tried to dance a bit.

I wasn't able to do it, but I did it only for Punit.

He pushed my limits and made me dance.

So, thank you so much for making this film possible

and making this award possible.

And I would also like to share a tiny personal detail here.

Four-five years back,

I was disappointed in myself since a few of my films didn't work.

Then I stopped working and sat at home.

I started cooking in the kitchen.

I started spending time with my kids.

Then we were hit by COVID for an interval of two-three years.

My kids told me that I entertained them,

and that they liked having me around at home.

They told me that I was made for entertainment.

They asked me to get back and entertain them on the big screen.

So, this award is for Aryan,

Suhana, Abram, and Gauri,

who pushed me out of the house

and asked me to resume my acting career.

But this message is for my youngest son,

who was, I think, just born

when I got my last Zee Cine Award for 'Chennai Express'.

So, he has never seen me receiving an award on television.

And I promise my children

that as long as I have the capacity,

determination, strength, and courage,

I will keep entertaining the world, let alone my family.

This message goes out to my children and my wife.

As long as your father is alive...
