I spent last New Year's Eve in Mariupol,

and this New Year's Eve was beautiful.

Everyone was like,

"Oh, let's tap into the new, happy, beautiful 2022."

But we were all alerted by the Russian troops.

Everyone listened to Putin's speech.

When we heard that crazy, distorted speech,

you know what Mariupolers do?

They just go to protest, so that's what we did.

I was filming everything that was around me

because I was looking at it from my balcony and saw it.

I'm feeling like the most scared in my life.

When you are scared or when there is war around...

and it's getting closer and closer and closer.

They started hitting the city centre.

because I'm scared, enraged and useless,

and I honestly don't know how to describe it.

I'm just crying and crying.

And I don't know...

I hope I will survive.

People were scared of both leaving and staying.

It was the choice

between two ways of being killed.

or like the very tiring and slowly one,

if you stay in the city.

We decided to leave the day we left.

We knew that it was like a very crazy decision

and we have to stick to it.

We saw leftovers of the cars, burning warehouses.

We were driving, then we see this column,

two tanks in this column that was driving. It was crazy.

They were pointing the gun at us, the tank, uh, gun,

and we, we just drove through them.

It was the most crazy moment.

I'm just escaped from Mariupol.

And what I feel is that Mariupol is not planned to be occupied,

but it's planned to be just destroyed.

I'm feeling very, very bad because

I left behind many people of Mariupol.

People are suffering very, very bad.

It's terrifying and I'm still shocked.
